i have tried reinstalling itunes several times and nothing has worked. help?

I can't tell how far you have got with troubleshooting as none of the steps require you to paste anything into your address bar.
Step one is to find out if the problem is confined to one account. If you are doing user specific troubleshooting, you will have confirmed that iTunes works normally in another account? There is not point in doing user specific troubleshooting if the problem is system wide.
The users specific trouble shooting is not in a 1,2,3... format until you get to Content files with issues. Have you completed the preceding steps?
Step 6 is: Navigate to the folder where your music is located.
Is that the stage you are at, there is nothing about pasting things into your address bar there.

same error on windows-xp and vista.
it used to work fine before the itunes updates.
    Thankyou.
    Shankar

I had this same problem, and to solve it I had to remove iTunes and revert back to older version. Also, when you do this, you have to remove the iTunes Library.ilt file or else you will get an error message saying it was created with a newer version of iTunes. So what I'm trying to say is don't install the iTunes 8.1 update just yet.

I'm running Windows Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 x64.  The thing that gets me that I can see the files on my hard drive for the Extras, open the index.html with no problem and go to the videos Folder and run each of the videos in Quick time with no problem.  So what gives?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • ITunes 9.0.2 (9.0.2.25) Consistent Appcrash updaing iTunes Library

I installed iTunes 9.0.2 on my Windows 7 64 bit home premium desktop. When iTunes starts the first thing it wants to do update the library. This process gets about three quarters the way through, then iTunes crashes.
This is consistently repeatable. Here are the details:

    Help! iTunes is now unusable!

Since the error message mentions a Quicktime component, it is probably worth removing Quicktime and reinstalling the stand alone version.
Download the version of Quicktime that does NOT include iTunes and save it on your PC:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
Remove Quicktime components using the method for removing Quicktime in this article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
    Install the stand alone Quicktime
But when you get a failure updating the library, I think about content files causing problems.
As a simple test you could try creating a test library to see if iTunes will open if the library is empty.
Hold down the shift key and start iTunes. Keep holding the shift key until you are asked to choose/create a library. Select create and create a library somewhere away from your music eg in Documents.
This is just a test to see if iTunes will open. If it does, you can try adding your music a bit at a time. I wonder if you have movies or videos since QuickTimeH264 is mentioned in the error message? If iTunes crashes as you add more stuff, you should get an idea about what is causing the problem.
Before you try adding stuff, go to Edit>>Preferences>>advanced tab, and uncheck "copy to iTunes Music folder when adding to lirbary", you don't want you music files duplicated. Don't forget to put it back if you go back to your old library.

    By the way: QuickTime works.
Any suggestions? Thank you for the trouble taken!

Taking inspiration from a post by b noir on a somewhat similar problem I de-installed the complete pacakge of apple application on my computer (iTunes, QucikTime and the Apple Support), then re-installed iTunes. Now it works (but it is a mystery why it stopped to do so in the first place. Anyway…).

Recently whenever I attempt to open iTunes it instantly crashes. I am running Windows 7 64bit. I get a brief error message saying windows had detected a problem with the program then it force closes iTunes. This problem has been going on for approx. 2 weeks now. If anyone can give me any insight of what to do to fix this problem it would be greatly appriciated. I am about to buy The New iPad but don't want to untill I get this sorted out. Thanks in advance.

    Many thanks.
Fingers crossed, your Windows 7 will have been recording some additional information about those.
First, open your Action Center and expand "Maintenance". Click "View reliability history":
Once the reliability report has been generated, look for Critical events for iTunesgenerated at the time of the "iTunes has stopped working" messages. Doubleclick the name iTunes in the critical events. (Don't click View solution.)
For example, here's a screenshot of my system showing what to click. (I don't have any iTunes critical events at the moment, so I'm using an Oblivion event to illustrate what we need to do.)
You should see something that looks like the following screenshot (only for iTunes, not Oblivion):
Copy and paste the contents of the problem report into a reply here. For example:

  • Itunes Has Stopped Working, Program closes

I have recently just updated my Itunes and it has stopped working. This happened in a previous updated version, but after a reinstall i was able to get it to work. This time it did not work, and I can't seem to find a way to get the program to work now.
    The error looks like this...
I open itunes from shortcut on desktop or exe file from program file
I see itunes is opened up, i can see my playlists/songs everything
Before i get a chance to do anything windows pops up with a window and says
"Itunes has stopped working...windows is checking for a solution to the problem...A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
I can only click on the "close program" button.
I have tried a reinstall twice now, and am lost for ideas on how to fix this. I'm not amazing at troubleshooting problems, so I've posted the error that shows up in my event log. Any help would be appreciated so i can continue to use the itunes store, and update my iphone.

Okay, taken at face value this is suggesting there's a problem with your QuickTime (which makes sense in context, because iTunes requires a properly functioning QuickTime in order to run).
So, let's first try swapping out your existing QuickTime.
Head into your "Uninstall a program" control panel. Uninstall QuickTime.
Next, we'll clear away any leftover QuickTime program files or folders.
    Restart your computer.
After the computer restarts, open Local Disk (C:) located in Computer or whichever hard disk your programs are installed on.
    Open the Program Files folder.
Right-click the QuickTime folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
Open Local Disk (C:) located in Computer or whichever hard disk your operating system is installed on. Open the Windows folder. Open the System32 folder.
Right-click the QuickTime file (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
Right-click the QuickTimeVR file (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
Right-click the Recycle Bin and choose Empty Recycle Bin.
Restart the PC and download and save a copy of the QuickTime standalone installer to your hard drive (get the one that doesn't mention iTunes):
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
Install QuickTime by doubleclicking the QuickTimeInstaller.exe file.
Restart again, and try launching iTunes again. Does it launch without the error this time?

  • ITunes crashes after launch?

    Hi everyone,
Recently, I have downloaded and successfully installed the newest version of ITunes (ITunes 10.5) on Windows 7 x64Bit.
Inversely, the program immediately crashes and fails to respond as soon as launched.
A few seconds after the launch,  a new dialog box appears in a new window, with the following message "ITunes has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution to the problem..."
       Figure 1: First dialog box.
       Figure 2: Second dialog box.
Followed by the second dialog box, that contains the following message "ITunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
    Error report "

Attempts at trying to resolve the program:
Uninstalled and Re-installed the program numerous times.
Created a new account and the same problem persist on the new user.
Additionally, all the drivers are up-to date and the system more than meets the requirements.
Any insight or help, would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks for reading.

Thanks for both of your replies.
I’m yet again presented withanother problem, when I try to re-install ITunes.
    Screen shot:
    Figure 1: Interrupted installation
Without installing ITunes, I cannot verify or confirm if the two of your suggested methods work.
Some help, or insight into the problem, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks you both very much for your assistance so far.

  • IPhone sync attempt crashes iTunes immediately

    I'm running:
    iTunes 9.0.3.15
    iPhone 3GS 3.1.3
    Windows 7, 64-bit
I've got all the most recent Windows updates and even recently upgraded my BIOS to see if that would help.
As soon as I connect my iPhone and iTunes begins communicating with it, iTunes hangs and then eventually crashes. I can't do anything with the iPhone while it's connected because it doesn't even show up in the devices column before iTunes crashes. This only began after the recent iTunes/iPhone update. Any advice would great.

It didn't give anything helpful in the error message, but I dug around and found the crash report:

    Faulting module name: CoreFoundation.dll
Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7,now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP,head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (If you've got XP, although the procedure is for Vista and 7, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)
