APPCRASH on startup... need help
I have been using the adobe CS3 suite for a couple years with no problems... All of a sudden I can't access any of the suite. Whenever i clck on any of the icons I do not even get a splash screen... all that I get is the MS warning Adobe *** has stopped working...

I did a reinstall and had read about deactivating and "cleaning" and reinstalling. However, I cannot deactivate until I can open it... unless there is another way to deactivate...
any help is appreciated.
Crashes can mean any number of things. anything from hardware failure to just a simple app problem.
One of the first steps you should take is running a scan disk on your PC. This will correct any errors on that drive due to system crashes unforseen power outages etc. Many times this alone will fix these type of issues.
If that does not work then start looking at the applications to see what may be wrong.

just wondering if there are any signs that indicate my Powerbook is slowly dying... it's been slowing down noticeably even with only one app running on a fresh restartI'm betting it's your Cisco hardware and its software driver. The driver is reported as com.cisco.nke.ipsec. I don't know what the actual driver file is called, but I would look in the /System/Library/Extensions/ folder for any drivers with "cisco" in the filename. Select the item(s) then CTRL- or RIGHT-click and select "Move to Trash" from the contextual menu. Do not empty the Trash as you don't want to actually erase the item(s). Shutdown and disconnect and Cisco hardware. If there is a Cisco application involved be sure it will not launch automatically at startup. Reboot the computer. If your kernel panics cease you will need to contact Cisco about upgrades that are compatible. It could also be an incompatibility between the Cisco driver and one of the other third-party drivers that are in the Extensions folder and listed in your report:

MSI GE620DX overheating upon startup need help!
my msi ge suddenly overheats upon startup, no apps or games opened and still the nvidia processor is enabled, meaning the red led indicator on power button is enabled instead of blue... any help??? the cpu is overheating even if no apps or whatsoever, just upon startup, i already updated the bios which is the latest, 10R....

this might be a noob question but are you certain you installed the laptop gpu version of the drivers? they are different from desktop drivers. I think something's also wrong with your registry.. a malware perhaps since it sounds like the optimus technology thing is not working properly. Have you tried system restore?
yes i restored my laptop already, i did almost every possible tweaks, like updating my bios,
i also used the msi gpu driver only, but still problem persist. the only thing that fixes it is by opening task manager, which switches the gpu to integrated. meaning it works properly with task manager on. is it weird right? any help? -
Today I had to do a hard shut down when my computer froze on waking from sleep. Since then, starting up has been extremely slooow. It is noticeably slow when the login screen is loading and it is even slower when the finder screen loads. It takes about 5-10 mins to load the entire screen. What shows up first is the time and display symbols in the upper right corner, but no finder bar. Then it's the spinning beach ball for the next 5-10 mins. The finder ends up loading but it is very slow to load. During this time I can access other apps like Safari or Sys Prefs, but the finder is "Not Responding" and all desktop files and the hard drives do not display.
I have started up on another volume and used the Disk Utility to repair the disk. First time it had something called Illegal Name which could not be repaired. I ran it a 2nd time and it said 1 Volume repaired. I ran it a 3rd time and again it said that it repaired 1 Volume. I ran cron scripts and repaired permissions. It's still slooow.
What else can I do to get back to normal?

It sounds like Disk Utility is struggling with the repair. Though it is expensive, you could try a more powerful utility like DiskWarrior.
I am not sure if this will help but you could try running the fsck command in single user mode to attend to the file structure. Details are found in this article.
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck. -
MacPro early 2008 kernel panic at startup - need help!
I have a MacPro early 2008 with OS 10.7.5 and I can't get it to restart without getting a kernel panic error. I get it at the grey screen at normal startup, safe mode, and trying to boot from the original install disk. I reset SMC and PRAM and still nothing. Running the extended diagnostics last night turned up no error codes. Any ideas?
Not sure what else to try at this point other than ordering a replacement graphics card which could be a chore to find in itself. Is there anyway to confirm if that is it?

Application Crashes on Startup: Need Help w/Failure Report
Adobe Illustrator CS started crashing on application startup. All other apps seem to function normally. The mac OS (10.4.11) generates a failure report, a copy of which can be downloaded at the link below (36kb .pdf file). I was hoping somebody could make sense of the report for me. This is a G4 ppc mac.
In the fifth line in the report the word MacOSClassic appears. Any relevance to my problem?

PB wont startup!!! need help!!
ok, something happen to my PB, i was doing a software update to isight, i dont have it was popping up every time i turn it on, somewhere in the middle of the prosses froozed and the only option was to force quit it and after that i shut it dowm (the PB) a day later i tried to use my PB a after pressing the power button stay on the grey screen w/ the apple logo and the progress bar, that it, nothing else happend, i need help, i have to do some work in there... please help!
thanks, i found that i had my game cd inside, i was able to eject it, i start the PB with the start up cd, and run a disk first aid, the result was OK, the i run the hardware test cd, the same result, everything look aright, but when i want to start the PB normally, nothing happens, stay in the apple logo with the dial thingy and that it! First, I must confess that I don't know much about QuickTime. Nevertheless, while trying to understand your problem, I discovered that the AppleScript dictionaries of QuickTime Player and QuickTime 7 were very different from one another, and was unable to use the “export” command of QuickTime Player. However, I finally was able, with the following script, to use AppleScript to shorten a QuickTime movie and save it under another name:

We need help with maximizing performance of our use of Berkeley XML DB. I am filling most of the 29 part question as listed by Oracle's BDB team.

Everytime the user logs in, the current xml document is loaded from
a oracle database table and put it in the Berkeley XML DB.
The documents get deleted from XML DB when the Oracle application
server container is stopped.
The number of documents should start with zero initially and it
will grow with every login.

The minimum is about 2MB and the maximum could 20MB. The average
mostly about 5MB.

We are using document data only to save changes made
to the application data in a web application. The final save goes
to the relational database. Berkeley XML DB is just used to store
temporary data since going to the relational database for each change
will cause severe performance issues.
17. Please describe the shape of one of your typical documents? Please
do this by sending us a skeleton XML document.
Due to the sensitive nature of the data, I can provide XML schema instead.
18. What is the rate of document insertion/update required or
expected? Are you doing partial node updates (via XmlModify) or
replacing the document?
The document is inserted during user login. Any change made to the application
data grid or other data components gets saved in Berkeley DB. We also have
an automatic save every two minutes. The final save from the application
gets saved in a relational database.
19. What is the query rate required/expected?
Users will not be entering data rapidly. There will be lot of think time
before the users enter/modify data in the web application. This is a pilot
project but when we go live with this application, we will expect 25 users
at the same time.

Each user logged into the web application will be running a bdb transactoin
within the context of a struts action thread.

We are clocking 10-12 seconds of loading a document from dbd when
five users are on the system.

No to the first two questions.
The web application is an online review of test questions. The users
login and then review the items one by one. The relational database
holds the data in xml. During application load, the application
retrieves the xml and then saves it to bdb. While the user
is making changes to the data in the application, it writes those
changes to bdb. Finally when the user hits the SAVE button, the data
gets saved to the relational database. We also have an automatic save
every two minues, which saves bdb xml data and saves it to relational
database.

Also, take a look at the query plan. You can post it here and some people will be able to diagnose it.

Update firmware with DOS CD
To boot from CD you have to hold down the option key (<alt>) during startup. A HDD icon and a CD should appear on the gray screen. The HDD has the volume name written below and the CD is named Windows. Select the CD and boot to DOS.
Hit <ESC> to skip the README.TXT
Use PG UP/DOWN keys on an external keyboard to scroll through the readme, using arrow keys may lock DOS.
SeaFlash offers some options you should explore before performing the update. If you just want to do it ASAP then hit <D>.
Hit <L> to list compatible drives and FW version. (Column New FW version should state SD24, hit <ESC> to go back to main menu.)
Hit to scan your drive(s). (Shows your model and FW, <ESC> for main menu)
Finally hit <D> to update your Momentus XT to SD24. (takes about 15s to update)
Power off your Mac.

But they only had instructions outside the realm of MS Windows is to burn it on a disk and run a cold boot to the disk drive. Need help setting up svnserve to launch automatically.
Last night I created a svn repository on my iMac. I imported an svn dump into it and I was able to access my code from localhost and a remote machine (same LAN) using Versions. But I then set up a LaunchDaemon and access via _svn user and now I get errors. HELP!! I am getting a malformed data error.
I used this code: (stupidly on my Snow Leopard 10.6.8 machine)
But instead of running it manually, we can run it automatically when the server Mac starts up by using launchd. You can read up onGetting Started with launchd, but basically it's the new startup process in Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger). So, to start svnserve automatically, create the file /Library/LaunchDaemons/org.tigris.subversion.svnserve.plist, and put the following in it:

To sign out of your Apple ID with iMessage, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Apple ID. Select the Apple ID and at the window that appears, select Sign Out. Sign in there with the new Apple ID that will be used by the person you are giving the iPhone to. Do the same with FaceTime on the iPhone.
