Appeal to Sony

Hello friends, you pretty much know me already.I have contributed to this forum to my best and will continue to do so.
I have one appeal for Sony to look into how the service centers are functioning in both India and Nepal ( Nepal in my case)
I do not know that much about India but I can definitely say that the service center in Nepal is definitely contributing towards the decline of Sony sales and the respect for Sony in this country. The service center is very much messed up. There are NOOBS that manage the service center. In fact, the software manager here does not know what Sony update service is( I have tried asking and the reply is that I was talking rubbish and such a tool never existed). They download the firmware via a site called gsmforum and charge about 10$ for one upgrade! In fact my attendant says that Sony is the worst company he has ever used and himself carries a Samsung. I had given my phone about a fortnight ago to replace the touch panel which had stopped functioning but am still unable to get the same from the company. They delay saying that the software is still downloading to check the functionality and will charge be extra money for the software. This is not good. I believe that the same case is in India where people are very much treated the same. Hence I appeal Sony to look into the matter because I believe that Sony is one of the best companies and it does not deserve the mistreatment of a service center and get a bad name.I appeal you my friends to well support this post if you want a change in the way these people work because the quality we get is not upto the mark. The amount that is charged for a software update is too high and they say that your device can get bricked and they will not be responsible. This definitely has to change.
The most profound technology is the one that vanishes quickly

I'm very sorry to hear this and I suggest that you send me a PM with all the details so I can forward this further on.

  • OneStep asking for firewire connection-my Sony HDR-SR11 doesn't have firewire port. Help.

The question says it all.  I wanted to use OneStep to move all my home movies to a DVD, but iDVD is asking me to connect via firewire and my video camera-a Sony HDR-SR11-doesn't have a firewire port.  I don't want to go through the extra step of importing into imovie because that will take a ton of time.  Any other suggestions?

Only 2 options that come to mind. The first is to do a one step from a movie (as opposed to a one step from from the camera) within the file menu in iDvd. And yes, you will have to export first from the video editing app (iMovie / FCP) prior to using iDvd's One Step. No way to avoid this when using apple's iLife.
The other option is to use a hardware approach; something like Sony's Dvdirect that requires no PC and burns directly to DvD-R at the touch of one button. Menus aren't as nice as iDvd's but the quality is very good. Try ebay if this option appeals to you. I picked up one for about the same price as iLife software.
Hope this helps but if not just come on back.

  • Sony ZU1

Just tested this camera today for those of you who are interested in buying. Bottom line- you get what you pay for. This IS NOT a professional camera. It looks good if you have A LOT of light but when lighting is low or even marginal it is CRAP. This is not a slam on Sony- I am a Sony fan and always have been. I've just heard a a lot of praise about this camera saying it "rivals cameras 5 times it's cost"- WRONG. I would love to own this camera as a home video camera- in that respect it kicks ***. But if you are thinking about documentary work (as am I) where lighting conditions are often out of your control- beware. Again, my guess is the equivelents from JVC, Panasonic and Canon fall into the same category of- "They look great as long as you have plenty of light". BTW- If you want to use Cine mode avoid 24 frame (too extreme) and use 30 frame instead as it is MUCH less objectionable- I'm not a big fan of 1080i because it just looks like ultra sharp standard def video to me and doesn't have the aesthetic appeal of film. 30 frame is a happy middle ground unless you're shooting a subject that requires the finest of detail.
Yeah, I know... this is an edit forum but I've seen lots of references about this and other cameras in the 5Kish price range and I couldn't help but post for those of you in the buying mode. What's the alternative? Rent or lease if you're doing critical work I guess. Again, this camera has it's place- it's just not up to par for high end work IMHO.
    Rant complete.

Thanks for the info. My camcorder use is primarily outdoors, but I do a lot of editing within specific frames. Need a system that is as compact as possible for travel and hiking. Heard that the interlacing frames from the HDV's are not the easiest to deal with. Looking at the new Panasonic, or back to some of the DV's with highest quality ccds w/ 16:9 format.
In the market for a new camcorder as my last one didn't survive the trip back from a recent soccer tournament in Italy. Needed to upgrade to a recorder that geared for 16:9 format anyway.

  • Would the Sony KDL-46EX710 be a good match with ATV?

I'm about to buy a new television. The Sony KDL-46EX710 model appeals to me because, unlike most other 46 inch models from other manufacturers, the Sony's relatively low overall height allows it to fit nicely into the space I have available.
I also plan to buy an Apple TV and I want to make certain that the Sony is a smart choice.
    My questions are:
1.) Will the Sony and the Apple TV work well together?
2.) Any advice or warnings I should be aware of before I pull the trigger?
    Thanks very much.

    larrybobba wrote:

as long as it has an HDMI port and is at least 720p then there shouldn't be any issue.
2.) Any advice or warnings I should be aware of before I pull the trigger?
HDMI and at least 720p are the only things appletv needs.

  • Unable to capture Canon HDV footage with Sony v1u camera

I'm trying to capture hdv footage filmed with a canon video camera with my sony v1u.  My sony footage captures as it should, but the canon footage, although playing fine on the sony camera, will not capture to cs4.  Any suggestions?

Check all camera settings and make sure they match the original filming mode on the other camera... and veryify your PPro settings match

  • Unable to capture HDV in FCP 6.0.1 from Sony HVR-Z1P

Hi I'm attempting to capture HDV footage from a Sony Z1.
I am trying to capture some HDV footage I shot with the Z1, but FCP simply refuses to recognize the Z1
I'm certain I've got all the settings correct:
    - Camera is set to HDV firewire out
    - capture presets is set to HDV
    - device control preset is set to Sony HDV FireWire
    - sequence preset is set to HDV 1080i50 (I'm in Australia)
    - footage IS HDV 1080i50
But I keep getting the "Unable to Initialize Capture Device and Device Control" popup. I've tried everything
    - rebooted the camera
    - restarted FCP
    - rebooted the system
    - changed the capture/device control settings in FCP and tried out a regular DV deck to make sure it wasn't the cable
    Nothing has worked.
I'm on a MBPro I7. No Kona card or anything like that, just trying to capture through firewire.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Matt
At present it will capture HDV in IMovie but not FCP 6.0.1

Thanks Adrian, since posting the thread I've thought of that too but unfortunately to no avail. From other forums I've read this seems to be a central theme to the solution to my capture woes. I since have sorted the problem it was in Audio/Video Settings.
In the end I set my Audio/Video Settings to:
Sequence Preset to: Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i50
    Capture Pre-HDV- Apple intermediate Codec
Device Control Preset: Sony HDV 1080i50 Firewire
And hey presto my I'm capturing HD without any problems. Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

  • Macbook to Sony Bravia - Problems

    Hey -
So I'm trying to connect my Macbook (I got this back in like 2006-2007?) to my Sony Bravia TV. I have the current set-up:
VGA Cable connected from the back of the TV to a Mini-DVI-to-VGA connector to the MacBook. When I plug it in, the Macbook detects it (since I can see the MacBook screen adjusting to it) but when I go to find it on the TV (Input/Source), the "PC" option is grayed out. I've been trying everything (Detect Display, etc) for the Bravia to detect it but no dice. Any help would be great.
For the time being, I'm using a S-Video to Mini-DVI-to-S-Video adapter to the MacBook but the quality is really poor (except when watching movies).
Is there something else that I need to do?
    Thanks!
    Albert

    hello, people.
I'm trying to sync my mac to Sony Bravia as well.
    And it was tough.
But on my last try I find a way.
You have to put a resolution 640 x 480 on your mac
    and 1920 x 1080 on Sony TV.
After that, you have to go on menu of your TV and follow the steps:
ajustes > canais de entrada > controle de entradas
I know the names in portuguese.
But in english should be the same.
And set you PC from AUTO to "SEMPRE"
The TV is already set on AUTO (automatic)
It works and I really happy.
I wish it works for you too
    Good luck

  • Cannot Connect Imac 24" via mini dvi to HDMi adapter cable to Sony Bravia 3

    Hello Everyone,
I'm having the worst time in trying to connect the following:
    1. Imac 24" 3.06 dual with dvi connection
    2. Mini dvi to HDMI adapter (this mac with this connection was produced only for a short while!).
    3. 10' (foor) HDMI wire
    3. Sony Bravia 32" model KDL32L-5000 with 3 HDML connections
i.When I wire everything up, I keep getting"no signal" on my Sony Bravia TV.
ii. It doesn't matter whether I connect the HDMI wire to HDMI 1,2, or 3 on my Sony
iii. On my Imac Hard Drive>>Applications>>System Preferences>>Displays
all I get is a list of different resolutions. There is no mention or mirrors etc.
Nothing happens when I press "Gather Windows" or Detect Displays"
Can someone out there please help!!!!!
Can you also give any solution in very simple and small detailed steps!
    Thanks,
    Stacey Bindman
    Montreal

Majortrout, there is a major disconnect going on here.
    1. You are showing an Ebay link with a mini-DVI to HDMI adapter.
    2. You report that you have an Early '09 24" iMac.
    3. That iMac does not have a mini-DVI port. That iMac has a mini-DispayPort.
    4. You need a mini-DisplayPort to HDMI adapter.
It is physically impossible to attach the adapter to which you link at Ebay to your iMac. So you need to take a step back and figure out what you really have; which iMac, which adapter, etc.

  • How to connect a Sony Bravia TV to the internet through your Airport network

Since it took me a lot of time to figure out how to connect my Sony Bravia TV to the internet through my Airport network, I better share how to do it. Hopefully saving others a lot of time.
My 32EX600 Sony Bravia TV is Ethernet connected to my Mac Mini, which is part of my Airport network, together with another Mac, an Airport Extreme Base Station and an ADSL modem/router. Moreover, the Mac Mini is connected to the TV by HDMI.
Whatever I tried in the TV’s Wired Network Set-up (Auto, or Manual with manual IP, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS IPs), I couldn’t get it right. Cable Connection and Local Access were mostly OK, Internet Access always Failed.
The solution lies in the Sharing panel of the System Preferences of the Mac Mini. In the Internet Sharing item of that panel, you should choose to “share your internet connection from WiFi to computers (the TV in this case) using Ethernet“, and NOT (as I had chosen before and seemed so obvious) “share your internet connection from Airport to computers using Ethernet“. After that change, the Bravia Network Set-up, using the Wired and Auto options, flawlessly connected to the internet. No expensive (Sony) WiFi USB dongle needed.

I have now had a detailed reply from Sony Europe and the way to do this is to:
    1.       Press Home on the TV Setup
    2.       Use the right and left arrow to select Setting.
    3.       Use the up and down to select Network, press Enter.
    4.       Select Network Setup.
    5.       Select Wireless setup.
    6.       Select Scan
    7.       Select your network
    8.       A new screen will appear asking for entering the security key.
    9.       Enter your WPA2 key.
    10.   Select Enter.
    11.   It will take you back to the same screen asking for entering the
    security key.
    12.   Press the right arrow.
    13.   Select Auto.
    14.   Press the right arrow.
    15.   Select Save and connect.
These instructions are not the same as shown on the TV but they worked fine for me so they may help others with a similar problem.

  • Airplay with Sony RDp-AX900 no longer working

Running off a Standard MAc 21".. 2011 model ... just upgraded the box to Mavericks
Trying to use spotify or Itunes and just want output to go the the external Sony  airplay speaker..
Works fine to Apple TV sitting next to it - it  sees the Sony but when you select it it just pops back to the Internal Speaker Option ... Thoughts? All working before the Upgrade...
Ended up connecting via BT to the Sony but thats just a fudge really...

Yes I did all the easy stuff first. I even re-installed Mavericks incase a special file was missing. I've totally reset my AirPort Express several times. It's what's transmitting my WiFi and it's super close to my iMac.
It's deffinitely a problem with my iMac seeing as it's not working with both my AirPort Express and Apple TV, also can't access Shared movies on my iPad via Home Sharing so yeah... definitely my iMac. All those other things communicate to eachother just fine.

  • FCP 6 no longer 'sees' my Sony HDR-HC7.  Works perfectly with iMovie HD

I used to be able to capture from and print to my HC7. Setup was saved. Now, FCP doesn't 'see' the camera with the saved settings, or when I try setting it up again from scratch. Camera connection, driver, etc. are good in that the camera works perfectly with IMovie HD. Obviously I've messed something up in FCP, but I can't find it. Suggestions?

Thanks for the response SDIllini, unfortunately when I do go the Disk Utility, my camcorder isn't even show for me to even repair the disk permissions. As monty jr stated, Sony was no help for me either, they also told me that I would need to contact Apple. The problem still remains unsolved though, it's as if the MBP just doesn't recognize the camcorder whatsoever. I'm open to any suggestions, have anymore?

  • I forgot pattern lock on my Sony Xperia Z1 and i need it back

    Hello,
on my sony xperia z1 phone i forgot my pattern lock. I can't use the Forgot Pattern Lock because it uses Wifi conection which i can't connect to...(my screen is locked) I want to hard reset it somehow but i tried allmost every method on the internet but none of them were working I tried holding the volume up and these things....but as i said it won't work for me. Can anyone please help me? THANK YOU VERY MUCH

In order to fix this you need to perform a system repair
Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the onscreen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process
If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

  • Adobe and Sony Photoshop Elements Serial Number Ping Pong !

    Hi
I wanted you all to know what is going on.
See below my first 'ANGRY' support message I sent and their replies - actually this offer tipped me to buy this laptop instead of another one and I did contact SONY several times and they pretended not to understand and in their website is stated and listed as 'included programs'.
It is a trick to make customers buy their product? Sometime ago offers were 'real' offers.
IS THIS EVEN LEGAL ? A purchase is a contacrt the buyer/the sellers and its suppliers (Adobe!)
Next time, it will be a Toshiba (again!) - it has lasted me 5 years or had labour and it still is going - it stillis working and on Linux this time!

    Hello
I have just purchased a SONY VAIO with these programs bundled/installed/no doscs/no licence!
    I wish to:
    1. register them and I cannot since your program only show 5 groups of digits instead of the 6 needed!
    2. I wish to install Linux on this computer, but I cannot install PSE7 and Adobe Premiere E 7 without a licence!
Which should have been part of my purchase.
I feel I have been robbed.
As soon as you run it, your programs connects and show us the 'called option' to purchase upgrade to version 8 - are you trying to make us pay twice for the same programs?
What is the solution here? I spent hunfdreds of  £££ during the years 'macromedia too to get treated like this?

  • Adobe Bridge CS6 (Mac) won't open .arw files from my Sony RX100. How do I get and install the right version of Camera Raw?

Adobe Bridge CS6 (Mac) won't open .arw files from my Sony RX100. I was told to update Camera Raw to at least 7.2. I tried to download this but got a DNG Converter instead. Where is Camera Raw? (it does not show up in a search of my hard drive. There is a folder of camera profiles but no extension or plug-in with this name). How do I find out what version I have already? How do I get the correct version?  . . . OR . . . is it the case that Bridge will never open Sony raw files directly and I will have to do a separate conversion process every time I want to use a raw file??. Can someone explain this?

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements Organizer Stops Working due to Sony AVCHD files

Hello I installed Adobe Photoshop elements and have been having trouble with it crashing.
To solve this problem I deleted my Catalog and added a Catalog with only one folder.
This folder has photos, in JPEG and Sony .ARW format as well as AVCHD files.
I found that by removiing the AVCHD files from the catalog the SW would no longer crash.
This really is not a practical solution since my PC has many folders with many AVC files.
I am trying to see if there is a SW patch or another way to address this issue.
    Thanks,

It might work but this is not a practical solution.
I have many picture folders on my pc and several of these have AVC files.
My intention was to use Photo Shop Essentials to edit my pictures. Unfortunately the "Organizer" app crashes when trying to work with my Catalog.
I have narrowed it down to only happening when there are AVC files in my folders. I have seen others have this issue and I found the issue by what they recommended.
Sadly if I am unable to get this to work with my current folders I will have to dump Essentials for another application.
