Appearance/ color (overall)

New mac book (Intel-Tiger). Delightful! But I simply must tab-key through pages as much as possible. (I'm learning as many keyboard shortcuts as possible.) But, when I tab around a web page or inside a dialog box, I cannot SEE this very pale rectangle that indicates where the focus is. I went into sys pref and changed the selected text color (but there are only two unsatisfactory choices for "overall look") and I looked around the universal access choices.
This is not a cosmetic/aesthetic issue. This is a huge problem and I cannot be alone. Any help? Is there something I'm missing here?
Many thanks,
Jeanne

The MacBook screen is a bit pale. Calibrating it might help.
Go to Preferences > Displays > Color and click on Calibrate.
In "normal mode", you can only adjust the gamma (contrast). Increase it to 2.2 and see if the highlight is more visible.
In "expert mode", you can adjust your screen more precisely and increase the gamma even more.
Hope it helps.

  • Changing Appearance Color

    Is there anyway to change the appearance color on a macbook running the latest update of tiger. Like when you go to system preferences and appearance

    Not sure exactly what you're asking, as going to system preferences -> appearance is where you change the color.

  • Problem accessing child object and changing its appearance (color)

    For a program, I need to be able to access a child object (in this case a box) after adding it to a transform group and change its appearance, for example the color of its top face. I have included a small code example to show my problem. The box is the only child I have added to the TransformGroup, but when I call getChild(), it returns a node, and thus I can't then call getShape() to get the top face and change its appearance. What am I doing wrong?
    public BranchGroup createSceneGraph() {
         BranchGroup objRoot = new BranchGroup();
         Transform3D rotate = new Transform3D();
         Transform3D tempRotate = new Transform3D();
    rotate.rotX(Math.PI/4.0d);
         tempRotate.rotY(Math.PI/4.0d);
    rotate.mul(tempRotate);
         TransformGroup objRotate = new TransformGroup(rotate);
         objRoot.addChild(objRotate);
         Appearance ap = new Appearance();
         Appearance app = new Appearance();
         Appearance apr = new Appearance();
         ColoringAttributes colr = new ColoringAttributes();
         ColoringAttributes colg = new ColoringAttributes();
         colr.setColor((float)1, (float)0, (float)0);
         ap.setColoringAttributes(colr);
    colg.setColor((float)0,(float)1, 0);
         apr.setColoringAttributes(colg);
         Box box = new Box((float)0.4, (float)0.4, (float)0.4, app);
         box.getShape(4).setAppearance(ap);
         objRotate.addChild(box);
         objRotate.getChild(0).getShape(4).setAppearance(ap);
    objRoot.compile();
         return objRoot;
    }

    It would help if you gave us the following System information:
    Operating System/version
    Photoshop version number
    Amount of RAM installed
    Hard drive(s) capacity
    Make and model number of video card
    Also try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776?tstart=0
    You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
    This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
    A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

  • Each time I create a Text Frame it appears colored with black?

    Every time I create a Text Frame with the Type tool in InDesing CS5.5 in a document named "02_End.indd", (this happen only for this file) the it appears filled with black color. On the other documents this does not happen (the text frames are with no fill).
    Can anyone tell me how can I change the default color of the Text frames?
    Please help me?

    Make sure you don't have anything selected. Then look in the swatches palette. If you see the default fill is black, set it to [None].
    If not, it may be your default object style, or possibly a document corruption -- if you suspect the latter, you could try to Remove Document Corruption as per the instructions at the top of this forum.

  • Change Appearance Color in Elements 6

    Hi,
    New to Elements 6 and what a surprise. My eyes can't get used to working with a black background. I'm told there is a slider somewhere that will change the appearance of Elements 6 from Black to Gray in both the editor and organizer similar to Elements 5. Would someone please tell me how to access them?
    Thanks,
    John

    I just upgraded to Elements v7 from v4.  I HATE the balck background.  Is there any way to change it to a lighter background?   Dear ADOBE, why would any company purposely make its product hard to read and more difficult to operate by making the background black?  Besides, over 95% of all photo uses (webpages, printed documents, newsletters, etc) are printed on white or ligher colored backgrounds.   Why wouldn't you allow us to work with an image in an envornment it is goign to be used?   Ever hear of testing the product with focus groups of users.   I can't remotely image that users prefer the black background.   Idiots!

  • I need the appearance color for the interface to be even lighter (white)

    Hi.
    I teach After Effects and Premiere Pro here in Chile, both awesome softwares, and when I use a projector the dark grey interface is not easy to read, so I always change it to white, just for the classroom. And I also use and app called mouseposé for mac to show the mouse. But with the 2014.1.1 release all I get is a washed out grey as the lightest color, not very good for a projector or for mouseposé. Is there a possibility for the next update to have the white interface appearance back? with black text? I will appreciate it a lot, and also my students will appreciate it. I makes a big difference in the classroom. The same issue is happening in Premiere Pro.
    Thanks a lot for considering this issue.

    For the header, use:
    DateChooser {
    headerColors: #cc3399, #ff6600;
    For the main part of the calendar, use:
    backgroundColor: #993399;
    FYI, I love this app:

  • Appearance colors - too dark

    I run this on a Mac and now windows 8, and the windows version the bezier curve handles are a dark blue and changing the background does not help me able to see them.
    Why is it dark blue? I would like to change them to white or a lighter color, the time code and other numbers in the effects window are a lighter blue.
    where do I change this to white?
    not a problem on the mac version.

    Hi,
    The latest version of Premiere Pro has the changed blue interface. It seems that you have updated to the latest version only on the Windows computer. (Premiere Pro CC 2014.1 to be exact)
    Unfortunately, there is no way to change the blue color.
    And on the Mac, you might be running an older version (Premiere Pro CC 2014.0.1 in my opinion, if you are on PP CC 2014)
    Thanks!

  • RDS 2012 R2 - Colors and appearance issues

    Hi,
    We are experiencing an annoying issue with Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard (RDS installed and two RemoteApp applications published). The thing is, sometimes, colors of taskbar, folders, screens...completely turn to black. You can run applications, open files...but
    the appearance (colors) is completely screwed up. We don't know what to do about this. We restore the entire server (Virtual Machine) when this issue occurs. Anyone knows about this ?

    I'm back again. My issue seems to be the same as this one : http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/44f33bd6-aa45-48cb-b886-352330e3f47c/win2012-std-basic-theme-problem-?forum=winserver8gen
    I figured out that my gpo did not work because the parameter "Load a specific theme" works only for users who open a session on the RDS server for the first time. So, i did this to apply the theme GPO to all RDS users, even if they have old sessions
    on the server :
    - I deleted all users profiles (from computer's advanced settings). Do not delete admins and .NET profiles.
    - I ran a gpupdate /force
    - I opened a session with a Remote Desktop user, and the Aero theme was perfectly applied.
    This is just a bypass solution. A good one is to know how the "Basic theme" got corrupted, and then, find a solution to fix it. For now, i really don't know how this could happened...
    For your information, before doing this, you have to install "Desktop experience" on RDS server and create the GPO which apply "Aero theme" for all RD users. This is the procedure to create it : http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/a11255a7-98d8-497d-812d-2e9f936a0901/how-to-change-the-desktop-theme-for-all-users?forum=windowsserver2008r2general

  • Colors less vibrant in Aperture 3 - Why?

    I am using Lion 10.7.2 on an iMac 27" 2.7 Core i5 with the latest version of Aperture 3 as well as Photoshop CS5 -- both programs, as well as my monitor, are set to Adobe RGB (1998). My camera, Sony NEX-3 ARW is also set to shoot in the Adobe RGB (1998) color space. Here's my question:
    When exporting a photo from Aperture 3 as a TIFF (8-bit) in Adobe RGB (1998) space and working on the photo in Photoshop, upon importing back into Aperture (saved the file as TIFF, not compressed in PS), the resulting reds are less vibrant. I am seeing this with all colors approaching neon; this is simply one example.
    In another scenario, I imported the raw file directly into photoshop first, did my corrections, and then imported the exported TIFF directly into Aperture. The resulting file is again slightly less vibrant, with the most immediate observation noticed in the neon sign. This problem does not exist for Lightroom 3.
    Adobe Photoshop CS5 exported file:
    File as appears (and as appears if exported) within Aperture 3, noting the neon is less vibrant:
    Why are colors overall less vibrant in Aperture? Is there a configuration issue on my system, or is there a known issue with Aperture? This is not my first time running into color problems with Aperture -- and for my work I need colors to always be spot on.

    Technically, you should only need to verify that you have at least the RAW Compatibility Update 3.6:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1357
    Current version is 3.7 which can be found here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1386
    Note - I assume that the 3.7 would include 3.6, but am not sure.
    If you already have the correct RAW support for OS X and are importing new images into a new or trial library, you might try running the 'Repair Database' option found here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805
    Good luck.

  • Help matching color profiles for 2 displays??

    I have two cinema display monitors (one new, the other 1 year old), and I can't get them to share a color profile. Through SysPrefs I can calibrate them individually, but the results look completely different. The older monitor appears "pinker" overall, esp. in the light tones. When I finish calibrating, the last dialogue box asks to if I want to share the color profile, but I can't see the new profile in the other monitor's Display Profile list.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Did you uncheck "Show profiles for this display only"? If the displays are not the same model, and age, you probably want different profiles, anyway. To calibrate properly you need a colorimeter.

  • Dell XPS 15 Color Management Problem with "True Color"

    I recently purchased a Dell XPS 15 (6845slv).  Overall I have very happy with it...but have been getting frustrated with color management issues and was hoping to get some advice.
    Intermittently, the display had been changing the color scheme (to a suboptimal scheme).  It lasted for anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes and then returned to the original (and more normal appearing) color settings.  It did not seem to happen while running any particular applications.  All drivers are up-to-date.
    I turned off the dell application "True Color" which I thought may have been making automatic adjustments to the color scheme and since turning it off the issue hasn't happened again.  However now I'm concerned that by inactivating that software, that I may not be maximizing the potential of the high quality HD display.  And now--though maybe it's in my head--the colors seem to be a little flatter since turning off True Color.
    Does anyone have any suggestions for getting the most out of the display? Has anyone had similar issues with True Color?  Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks for your help.

    I ended up fully uninstalling it from programs and features...I haven't had the problem since.  I've been happy with the display since making this change.

    Mac Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Barron,
    You have to load the profile you want to share into the approriate folder >Library>ColorSync>Profiles>Displays
    Then you have to double click the profile, it will open ColorSync.
    Then Go to Devices, Then colapse Displays, Click on your Cinema Display and you will see a little arrow, looks like a play button. Click the button and it will bring up a menu allowing you to load a profile, then you can load your shared profile.
    Why this is how you have to do it, I will never know, seems awfully PC like.

  • Preview panel loses Color Management after Minimize Bridge CS5

    Whenever I minimize the Bridge CS5 application window to the Windows taskbar, upon restoring or maximizing the Bridge application window the image(s) currently showing in the Preview panel no longer appear color managed (they look exactly as they would appear from a non-color-managed app.)  In order to see them as color managed again, I have to either de/re-select their thumbnails or double click the Preview panel twice (once to minimize it, and once again to restore it.)  Otherwise resizing the Preview panel has no impact on the color.  The thumbnails in the Content panel are fine.  This did NOT occur in CS4 or earlier versions of Bridge - otherwise the same environment.
    I have a wide-gamut monitor, which causes many non-color-managed images to look super saturated, especially reds & greens, so it is probably much easier to notice this behavior in this environment than from a typical-gamut monitor.
    Windows 7, x64, ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics card, Bridge v4.0.3.9
    Anyone else notice this annoyance?

    Thanks Curt,
    I doubt this is a video issue as no other versions of Bridge behave this way on this system.  I have the same preference settings in Bridge CS5 as for Bridge CS4 - which works fine.  Nor does Photoshop exhibit this behavior post-minimizing, & Photoshop behaves perfectly for all the OpenGL Drawing settings (which I have set to Advanced in PS.)  Bridge just seems to poorly manage the Preview panel color post-minimizing the application window, but otherwise everything displays fine during operation.  I'd be surprised if it was just me but if it is, it's an easy enough annoyance to work around.  I'd imagine that this isn't too observable on a normal-gamut monitor.
    I tried your suggestion of  "use software rendering", just in case, but it made no difference.  Appreciate the idea though...
    One more observation:
    While thumbnails are being generated for the first time on large images, they also have the non-color-managed appearance until they complete their generating, at which time they take the managed appearance - but I just consider that a processing-timing final step & it hasn't changed behavior from previous versions of Bridge.
