Appears locked or frozen - Help doesn't help
On recent trip battery ran down. Recharged but doesn't turn on. Plug into computer and menu comes up but doesn't work. Lock picture appears at top, but slide is in unlock position. Have attempted to restore, but don't think computer is recognizing. Reinstalled software - new - at dead end. Need assist, please.

The Help cache is probably corrupted.
1. Quit Help
2. Open your ~/Library/Caches/ folder
3. Drag the folder named com.apple.helpui to
the trash.
4. Also go to your Preferences folder
(~/Library/Preferences) and delete the following
files:
com.apple.help.plist
com.apple.helpui.plist
com.apple.helpviewer.plist
en Help again.
Help content for some applications will be added back
into the Help Viewer once those applications are
launched again.

Well, I thought it would work but first off I discovered that there was NO com.apple.helpui.plist file in my preferences. But I trashed the cache file and the two help files I found in preferences. When I clicked on help, I got the main help screen and the first URL is live but the second one (and all others were not). So I go to my preferences and I find that the com.apple.help.plist file did not get restored and the com.apple.helpui.plist file is STILL missing.
So I tried it again and it worked even worse.
Any other ideas or do I have to do a clean install?? Safari help is dead again.

If you see a lock icon in the upper right corner of the screen - then the screen orientation is locked.
Try the side switch above the volume rocker first and see if that unlocks the screen. If that doesn't do it, swipe up from the bottom to get to the control center. The lock icon will be in the row at the top on the right
If the screen is unlocked but still will not rotate, reset the iPad.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the button -
I open iWeb but the main window doesn't open/appear on screen. The little windows like the inspector and font windows appear. Can anyone help?
Try the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
3 - launch iWeb and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

Which keyboard layout you were using? German, French ... I suppose your layout is reset to the default: US and you are unable to find the "?" or "/" ...
Please have a look into the keyboard viewer, to see how the layout of your keyboard is actually.

ipod 4 is displaying blue frozen screen and black screen with apple logo. I try to turn power off but as soon as it goes out it automatically reboots. Plugged it into the usb port on my mac and it doesnt do anything. It doesnt appear in Itunes. Help?
Let the battery fully darain. After charging for an least an hour try a reset and restore. Use Recovery mode if necessary.
If not successful, then time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. -
I have a problem after I lock my iphone or it is automatically locked , the time doesn't update. It just freezes at the last time of locking. Please help , it is iphone 5 running iOS7.1

Msi geforce4 mx 460 locking up pc, help!
here is what i have:
asus cuv4x mb, 667 mhz intel celeron, 256 mb ram
msi geforce4 mx 460
diamond pci sound card
some isa 10/100 card
windows xp pro
this is a fresh install of win xp, i tried the drivers on the msi cd, also the newest reference drivers from nvidia.com, that didn't help. i tried removing the sound card but no luck there. it mainly locks in games like GTA3 or NHRA Dragracing. it runs for about 30 seconds and locks. ctrl alt del doesn't work so i have to power down. it locks in windows also, but not as often. i don't see anything conflicting in my device manager. does anyone have anything i can try? thanks in advance!oops, i must be a moron. under the 3.3v and 5v it says 120w, then under all the voltages (3.3v, 5v, 12v, -5v, -12, -9) it says 250w. so just to verify, i need one that has 200w with the 3.3v and 5v? or is it ok now? sorry...

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select

Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time after you had the problem. Select the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.

Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. Please don’t post any other kind of report — it will be very long and not helpful. -
my iPod screen won't automatically turn off without manually locking... help!

Thank you for using Firefox Sync. Without a recovery key, I am sorry you cannot recover right away. I know at the top of my head that it is possible to move the account to the new Firefox sync. [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-set-up-firefox-sync How to set up the new sync]
However this is currently not available in version 28, but version 29 (Beta and Aurora) On those versions you can go to about:accounts and select I already have an account. It *as far as I know* does not require a recovery key.
Once you have it set up, make a copy of the profile folder. you can copy it to the new installation of version 28 if that is the version you wish to continue using.

I presume you mean that you have a passcode to the screen lock that you've forgotten. If that is correct, you will need to restore the iPhone from the computer to which the iPhone is synced. For information and instructions, see:

I am trying to polish an application, and find that I cannot seem to reliably control which of the label or caption text appears in the context help window because I don't understand what rules are in place to determine which should appear. It seems like if I reate a named constant, then use it's right click menu command "Create Indicator" I get a control with only a Label (as long as I don't add a caption). This then appears in the context help window as the label name followed by the description text (after entering some description text). But if I add a caption, the label name is shown in bracket
s which is a 'feature' I would like to avoid, because I have certain controls where I would like to use a descriptive variable name on the block diagram side without using so much space on the front panel. It seems like there is no way to avoid showing the Label name in the context help for a control/indicator. Is this true?
I thought the purpose of having a seperate caption was to make the text that appears with a control programmatically controllable, but if that control is not extended to what appears in the context help window, it limits the usefulness of the caption and forces me to re-consider some Label names. However, the problem goes deeper than that because then even when I make the label and caption exactly the same, or if I delete (via a select caption text-backspace or select caption text- delete key .. sequence) the caption for a control, the label name in the context help window still appears in square brackets!

If the light will not turn on the TC is dead. No matter that the hard disk is running.. it should only run at start up or when it is accessed not constantly.. that means the board in the TC has failed. Apple do not repair them.. They will replace it under warranty or applecare.
If you have gone over the 12month warranty it will still be covered if you have applecare on any computer or an Apple TV. In fact the cost of the apple TV plus apple care is still cheaper than buying a new TC.. so it is a route some people are taking.. certainly depends.. in some places like Europe or Australia now, there is a recognition that statutory warranty must be longer on a product that is premium to the market. 12months is not good enough. Apple will sometimes listen.
They might be fixable but I do not know how.
