AppFabric crashes IIS Manager when Powershell 4 is installed (Server 2008 R2 SP1)

When Powershell 4 is installed on a Server 2008 R2 SP1 box with AppFabric 1.1, IIS Manager will fail.
If you go to IIS Manager and plus open the node for your server (to look at your sites or app pools) you get an error like the following:
Description:

If you then uninstall AppFabric 1.1, everything starts working again.  I need Powershell 4 with AppFabric 1.1.  Any ideas?
I wonder if the below breaking change in Powershell 4 is causing the issue:
In Windows PowerShell 4.0, if a module uses the DefaultCommandPrefix key in its manifest, or if the user imports a module with the Prefix parameter, the ExportedCommands property of the module shows the commands in the module with the prefix. When you run
the commands by using the module-qualified syntax ModuleName\CommandName, the command names must include the prefix.

We didn't have this issue with Powershell 4.0, but with Server 2008 R2 SP1 and AppFabric 1.1. The solution for us was to install the
Upgrade Readiness Tool. No problems with Inetmgr and Clr20R3 after the hotfix was applied.

  • Can I install Solution Manager 7.0 in Window Server 2008 R2 Enterprise ed.?

    Hi, SDN experts.
I am trying to install Solution Manager 7.0 in in Window Server 2008 R2?
I checked the the software requirement for SAP Solution Manager 7.0, it only mentioned Window Server 2003 and 2008  enterprise edition.
I am trying to install Solution Manager 7.0 in in Window Server 2008 R2 enterprise edition?
When I ran the Solution Manager Master Installer, the Pre-requisite Checker gave a warning message saying that it detected incompatible server version, that the server version is Windows NT 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1) (I guess it meant Window Server 2008 R2).
    =======
The following Windows operating system version is supported: Windows Server 2003 (i.e. Version 5.2) and Windows Server 2008 (i.e. Version 6.0).
Current Windows version: Version 6.1, Service Pack 1.0, productive type: Server.
You can check the current version of you operating system by runningu2026u2026..
    ========
Can I actually install Solution Manager 7.0 in Window Server 2008 R2? Will this cause problem during the installation/post-installation if I ignore this message?
    Thanks,
    KC

    Hi,
I think it is not straight forward to install SAP Solution Manager 7.0 in MS Window Server 2008 R2.
I am installing Solution Manager 7.0 , the installation encountered error on Create Java Users step (Phase 31 of 44). When I login to SAP solution Manager system through SAP GUI. I encountered this error:
"OS release Windows NT 6.1 7601 Service Pack 1 4x AMD64 Level 6 (Mod 44 Step 2) is not supported with this kernel (700)'
I found that it is because I am installing SAP Solution Manger 7.0 in MS Window Server 2008 R2, which the existing kernel version does not support.
Do you know which kernel I should install?
    I browsed in:
SAP Application Components" SAP SOLUTION MANAGER" SAP SOLUTION MANAGER 7.0" Entry by Component" Solution Manager ABAP Stack
    SAP KERNEL 7.00 64-BIT UNICODE --> Windows Server on x64 64bit -->MS SQL SERVER
    I downloaded:
SAPEXEDB_291-20001361.SAR      Kernel Part II (for Basis 7.00)       291
Is this the right Kernel patch I should use?
If it is the right kernel patch file, how do I apply the latest kernel to existing Solution Manager system? Can you give me some guidance on this?
    Thanks,
    KC

  • When installing Server 2008 Datacenter from disc, I get the error message "Windows could not parse or process the unattent answer file for pass [specialize].

This is a clean install from s disc onto a 3TB GPT drive. This is for testing. I'm not concerned with finding a more practical solution for this installation.
There is no image or answer file involved. But at the "Completing Installation" phase, I receive this error message about an answer file.
Has anyone else expecrienced this problem? The only results I find here are regarding actual imaging with answer files.
    EDIT: [Redacted]
EDIT 2: Since this now happens with every single installation of Server 2008 on this system, I feel the need to keep this open and elaborate on my situation.
I originally installed Server 2008 on the 2TB partition of this 3TB drive. The partition type was MBR. I reinstalled it (there was a false alarm for malicious software) since it was a fresh install without updates or anything else installed. And for the
    second time, it installed fine.
I decided to make the most of my 3TB drive and try GPT partitioning. So I went into the command prompt > diskpart > ran "clean" on the disk, then "convert GPT"
That is when I tried another install of Server 2008 and received this error message about an answer file.
I decided to convert it back to MBR and get on with what I wanted to test in the first place. So I went into Diskpart again, ran "clean", rand "convert MBR" and started the install. But this resulted in the same error message about an
    answer file.
I went back to Diskpart, "clean"ed the disk, ran "convert dynamic" to make sure it was dynamic, then tried the install again, with the same result.
Now, I've tried installing on the disk as GPT, MBR basic and MBR dynamic. I've tried a different installation disc, as well. I got the same result. At this point, I'm going to switch hard drives, but I'm still open to input. Thanks for reading!

    Hi,
As you swapped the hard disk, whether the same issue occurs again if you redo the same steps?
I asked "OEM or retail" because of this known issue:
"Windows could not parse or process the unattend answer file for pass [specialize]" error message when you perform an in-place upgrade in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2425962
An answer file may already contain in the disc which causes the issue.
If issue still exists you can click Shift + F10 during the installation process to see the log. Check if the installation error for detailed information.

  • Blue screen when logging into windows server 2008 r2

when logging into windows server 2008 r2, all I have is a blue screen and the mouse.
I tried looking for solutions on the internet, then I found a microsoft hotfix "http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2590550" I run the hotfix in command line but it gave me nothing, no error or success messages.
I tried to reboot but I still have the same problem.
Is there any solution to this problem ??

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Did you face this issue during remote session or console session?
In addition, have you try to change or install any driver\software which cause this problem?
Have you use any debugging tools from Microsoft to find respective error cause?
You can refer following article for memory dump.

  • Get-Hotfix InstalledOn property not returning hotfix installed Date and Time on Windows Server 2008 SP2 but works on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1

    Hi,
I am working on a validation script to get the list of hotfixes installed on Domain Controllers every month as part of our monthly DC patching process. I have been successful in getting these details for DC's with (Windows Server 2008
R2 SP1, Powershell v2.0) using the below command.
    Get-HotFix -cn $computer | Select-Object PSComputerName,HotFixID,Description,InstalledBy,InstalledOn | where InstalledOn -ge (Get-Date -Day 1 -Format d) | FT -AutoSize
I execute the above from a jump box with powershell v4.0 (Server 2008 R2)
However, when I try the same command from the jump box to query DC's with (Server 2008 SP2, powershell v2.0). It doesn't return the InstalledOn date and time. It was giving error for the InstalledOn property and hence I renamed it to $_.InstalledOn. Now
I don't get error but still no details displayed for InstalledOn property.
I tried using the below, as could see on few forums that this might resolve the issue. I also tried removing the "where" part but still no installation date returned.
    Get-HotFix -cn $computer | Select-Object HotFixID, Description, InstalledBy, @{l="InstalledOn";e={[DateTime]::Parse($_.psbase.properties["installedon"].value,$([System.Globalization.CultureInfo]::GetCultureInfo("en-US")))}}
    | where {$_.InstalledOn -ge (Get-Date -Day 1 -Format d)} | FT -AutoSize
Have tried this locally on the 2008 SP2 DC but still not working. Please advise what is going wrong?
Note: If I execute the below command locally on the 2008 SP2 DC, I am getting the InstalledOn output. However, when executed from the jump box with powershell v4.0 (Server 2008 R2) to query
the same 2008 SP2 DC, it just gives the prompt again without any error or output. This behavior is consistent for other 2008 SP2 DC's in the environment.
    Get-HotFix -cn $computer | Select-Object HotfixID,Description,InstalledBy,InstalledOn | where {$_.InstalledOn -ge (Get-Date -Day 1 -Format d)} | FT -AutoSize

Hi jrv, I have already tried the Win32_QuickFixEngineering option, which doesn't work either. Apologies for not mentioning the workarounds that I have already tried.
Get-Hotfix seems to be just a wrapper for Win32_QuickFixEngineering as per the below article. (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh849836.aspx)
I have seen a mention of using the WU ActiveX control on few forums, but was too lazy to read it through.
After rigorous testing, it makes me realize that somewhere the Get-Hotfix dates formatting\comparison isn't working.

  • This feature can only be installed on a server running SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 or later ERROR

Attempting to install MBAM 2.5, and the SQL Server I have available for the install is SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2; the databases installed correctly, but when I run the Reports install it suddenly doesn't like my SQL anymore. The error says I need to install
SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1, SQL Server 2012 SP1, or later - and the server is already at that level.
Any idea of how to progress without needing to wipe out SQL and upgrading everything to 2012 R2? I really need to get this running ASAP, so I'm hoping there's a tip that will allow me to get the install to complete.

Added note: When I check the mbam setup logs in event viewer, I get the following error:

Checking the version in SQL Management Studio shows:

    Hello,
The following are a few things you can try:
Copy the media to the local disk drive, unzip it (in case you are installing from an ISO file, and run SQL Server setup from there.
Try to unregister and register the Windows Installer with the following two commands:
    msiexec /unregister
    msiexec /regserver
Try to use Process Monitor to log the detailed error produced when the installation of dw20sharedamd64.msi fails. You can download Process Monitor from the following link:

Share with us the error captured by Process Monitor.

  • How to install bo xi 3.1 on windows server 2008 r2 sp1 (virtual machine )

    HI GUYS --
operating system: I am trying to install Business Objects into a virtual  computer which has a windows server 2008 R2 SP1 operating system. I installed version BO XI 3.1 and I also installed Service pack 3 and Service pack 4. I installed liveoffice usual way. Whenever I try to design  xcelsius and dashboard, I got some errors. In order to fix these errors, I followed SAP notes step by step. However, It didnt help me at all. I also tried to install by looking at install guide and supported platform documents, but I get an error each time of doing that. I can write each error over here. I also opened a link over here. Check out the link please to see the errors how to display webi docs. in liveoffice?
    My main question is this.
Are there anybody who works operating system windows server 2008 R2 SP1 and this installed into the virtual machine? If so, Is it worked by doing which installations exactly?
Note; Business Objects tools work very well (infoview, cmc, web intelligencei and the others work  without problems at QAAWS BO XI 3.1, but they have been given cluster error at BO XI 3.1 SP3) . In addition, port server settings have been installed based on the installion guide. If you give me any information other than whatever I said, I appreciate that. I also point out something. If I dont get any message which I attached a sample when I try to operate life office. In this situation I cant see either my documets or web documents in infoview)

    Hi SYaGCi,
Denis is right this is actually documented in the Supported Platforms Documentation:
"Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 are new platform support additions in Service Pack 3 which are only available for support on the SP3 full release install of SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise. The SP3 patch only release of SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise does not provide support for these two new platforms."

  • Management Pack for Windows Server 2008 Enterprise SP1

    Hello,
I tried to manage the performance of a Windows Server 2008 Enterprise SP1 (6.0.6001) but SCOM 2007 R2 just check the availability with a ping status.
I have installed the normal management packs:
On the same SCOM, I have servers with Windows Server 2008 R2 and they work perfect.
    What can I do?

    Hi Journey Tinoco,
Performance can be monitored by using the active alerts TAB where a alert / alerts will be triggered based on the default management pack which you have installed / imported or if you have created a custom monitor based on your preference on what performance
counter you want to monitor on windows server 2008 servers VIA SCOM.
Or you can pull server performance report specific for Windows server 2008 from the reporting TAB as per the below screen shot for details.
The one which you are opened is the health explorer view which is not showing much details.
Go to reporting TAB ===> Select Windows server 2008 operating system monitoring and then What ever appropriate report you need to pull based on your requirement. For example i have pulled a report below for "Operating system performance.
Over here Click object and select the computer name and the icon should be a Windows serve / Computer as per the icon in my screen shot below. Select the time and date from and to the report you want and dont touch the add object option. Once done click
the Run button on the left to you will get the report as below.
Please note: If the below report is what you are looking for is not available in your SCOM's  reporting TAB. Then you have not installed the reporting Management pack for Windows server 2008 monitoring. Download
    it from the below link.

  • Powershell 2.0 already enabled on my Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1

I have installed the Powershell ISE feature.
Is Powershell 2.0 already enabled on my Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1?
In DISM /Online /Get-Features none of these pre SP1 exist in  SP1.
    DISM/Online/Enable-Feature/FeatureName:NetFx2-ServerCore
    DISM/Online/Enable-Feature/FeatureName:NetFx2-ServerCore-WOW64
    DISM/Online/Enable-Feature/FeatureName:MicrosoftWindowsPowerShell
In  SP1 features NetFx3 exists but no MicrosoftWindowsPowerShell.
How do I enable PowerShell 2.0?

    Hi Philpsophiae,
By default, Windows PowerShell is not installed on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 Core. You can use the following methods to install Windows PowerShell on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 Core.

  • Install Server 2008 DC alongside 2012 DC

I have a test environment going on and it has Server 2012 DC(Name it 'A') installed. As test, I want to install Server 2008 DC alongside this 'A' server and replicate all data from 'A' server to Server 2008 DC and decommission the 'A' server . And then
I want to migrate from Server 2008 DC to a new Server 2012 DC. Is this possible? If it is, please let me know the approach to this project. Thanks.

You need first to check the following:
What is your current Domain and Forest Functional levels?
Is AD Recycle Bin feature enabled?
If your Domain and Forest Functional levels are Windows Server 2008 then you can add the additional DC and make it a DNS/GC server. Once done, you can transfer FSMO roles and decommission Server A.
If the your Domain and Forest Functional levels are higher than Windows Server 2008 then, if AD recycle Bin is enabled, you would not be able to lower them more than Windows Server 2008 R2. In this case, you can only add DCs running Windows Server 2008 R2
or higher. If AD recycle Bin is not enabled then you can lower them to Windows Server 2008.
The details about how to lower DFL and FFL are mentioned here: http://blogs.technet.com/b/infratalks/archive/2012/12/11/step-by-step-guide-to-lower-active-directory-functional-level.aspx
