Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with one Apple ID with a new Apple ID.

Were you able to reset the account's password ? If not then how did you try to get it reset e.g. http://iforgot.apple.com (which would have sent it to the rescue email address if you have one on that account) ? You can also try contacting iTunes Support in your country to get it reset : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
And no, accounts can't be merged nor content transferred between accounts.

No, you can't combine accounts nor transfer content between accounts - content will remain tied to the account that downloaded it.

Why did you create a new one?
Just change the e-mail address associated with the old one.

Husband/wife shared iTunes but different Apple accounts on different devices

My husband and I both have iPhones but our own laptops and ipads. We've been sharing one itunes and apple account. We haven't used the cloud, because that would combine our calendars, contacts, etc. The itune/apple account is associated with my email address. I've created him an apple account this morning, but now I'm stuck.
He doesn't want to use his own itune account, all his purchases are on our shared one. We want to put his apple account on his phone, laptop and ipad, but when I tried to log into his apple account on his phone, it won't let me get past the credit card number for itunes. We do NOT want to use this for his itunes.
How can I attach his phone to his apple account, but keep itunes separate?
He has a PC, iPad and iphone. I have a Mac, and iPhone.
I've found instructions here on the apple site, but doesn't address the itunes issue. I don't want him to lose his music and apps that he's already purchased.
Bottom line: How can he access 2 different accounts:
He wants to use his own apple account for icloud, contacts, mail, and calendar
He wants to keep using iTunes on my account.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
That's easily done. iTunes and iCloud are different services, you can sign in to each with seperate ID's if you want on the same device. He'll probably want to sign in with his own Apple ID for messages and FaceTime too, which are also seperate services.

As rex already mentioned, Apps and other content are forever tied to the Apple ID that was used to purchase them. No transfers. No combining Apple IDs. Forever means forever.
In practice, this means any apps you currently have - free or paid - will need to be either repurchased using your new Apple ID or downloaded again if free. Until you refresh all of your apps, your iPad will ask for credentials to the old Apple ID any time one of the apps is updated.

Help please! We have one main apple account/ID that we use for purchases. I have set up seperate iCloud accounts for my 3 kids so that our information (mail, contacts, etc) is kept seperate. I have enabled the restrictions on their iPods also.
It looked like I had everything separated correctly, they had their own contact book, their own email account, and were (hopefully) able to only iMessage/Facetime with the contacts that are loaded in their phone. I went to test this by going to iMessage and started to type one of the pre-loaded contacts in their phone and all my personal contacts showed up. I do not want my kids accidentlly iMessaging my contacts. How are these getting pulled in? I can not find in settings anywhere where to turn this off. My contacts are not listed in their contact book on their iPod?

My kids favorite games are mindcraft and flappy bird and when I mentioned restoring their phone they were a bit worried. Looks like I might need some quiet time to read that document over and see if their is a way to save their info in the games. Looks like there might be? Can I Do This - Multiple User Accounts, Same Apple Account?

I'm wondering if I can do this - I just got a new pc for my wife and kids, each of whom have an ipod. They have been sharing a username and Apple.com account (the xxxx@yyyy id) on the old pc, each synching their ipods with no problems.
On the new PC, which is Vista64 based, they will have their own user account. Can they still use the same Apple account, and share the same songs/Itunes library or will there be problems?
If problems, any suggestions for my setup?
