Apple acknowledgement of iWeb v1.1 fault

Does anyone know if Apple are doing anything about the iWeb v1.1 fault.
I'm amazed that this update got past Quality Control with such a glaring and crippling bug.
Have Apple issued any form of acknowledgement of the problem or any communication of a fix in the works?
Or are they just turning a blind eye to the dissatisfied customers, both in this forum, and elsewhere - in order to cling blindly to the 'It Just Works' tag? That proud message is now in tatters. How Apple could have allowed software to be released which clearly doesn't work is unbelievable.
There was a time when Apple took pride in their products dependability. Over the past year or two there has been a list of products that have glaring failures.. (iPod Nano, Aperture, iWeb v1.1).
Rant finished.
Again, does anyone know if Apple have acknowledged the problem? It would put my mind at ease if they had the maturity and responsibility to put their hands in the air, admit there is a problem and undertake to fix it.
iMac G5 Mac OS X (10.4.6)

One would think they would pull the updater with this many problems with it. I know they are looking at this ssue. A tier 2 engineer gathered a bunch of information from me about this issue, and had me actually dump a bunch of logs and network sniffer stuff and send to them.

Has Apple acknowledged the problem yet with itunes aborting preview of songs after about 10 seconds on windows 7 and if so is there an answer other than ipconfig?  IPConfig /flushdns doesn't help at all.  Until they fix it I will be previewing and buying my songs thru Amazon.

Doublechecking ... do you still get that if you update to iTunes 10.6.3.25 (just released today)?

    Is this true?

Update, I just received my second MacBook today.
First one is week 20 but I really can't remember the surface on the wrist rest whether it smooth or rough, but it think it's smooth.
And my second MacBook, week 25, got it today.
The wrist rest is smooth, everything is PERFECT.
The keyboard is quite a bit better than the first one, I totally satisfied with it.
no moo, whine, display artifact at this time.
And the reason I returned the first one is because of the Hinge, it create some noise and not so smooth.

    I am from the Philippines.
Yes, Apple acknowledges the problem but it does not make consolation for its customers. How?
No.1: they are requiring 2 weeks before returing you the unit after service. - IT disrupt WORK and entirely damage the customer's life. It's not what I wanted when I bought the unit.
No.2: They do not offer a temporary replacement to fill in.
No.3: They do not give anything but the WORD sorry... WELL, ITS NOT OK and I cannot forgive. I hope you get my point and understand my sentiments.
I CANNOT say thank you apple.

  • Why won't apple acknowledge and fix the IOS 5 update encryption bug?

When updating to IOS5 and saving a backup, if you intentionally do not encrypt the backup, the software will do it for you against your will without letting you know.  The source for the assigned against your will and knowledge password for that backup isn't clear and many people never figure out what it is.  Clearly a lot of people on line and multiple people I know have come across this bug in updating their IOS to version 5 and many have lost everything on their IPADs and IPhones.  Losing one's backup of irreplaceable pictures and files etc.... is just a major loss and I spent hours on the phone with a service agent who verified it is a frequent problem but that there is no acknowledgement of it.
Why is this still happening and why isn't the bug fixed considering that it is so devastating for users who can't figure out the assigned password.  It happened to me months ago, it happened to my brother 2 weeks ago and to the wife of an office mate of mine yesterday.  Trying every password ever known to you doesn't always work.
I'm seriously for the first time in my entire 20 years of exclusively owning Apple computer products thinking about switching to an Android instead.  Apple has failed me here and without effort to curb the problem with a fix, (this has been posted previously on this support community website by others for months now) it seems endemic of front door salesmanship without concern for the customer coming back for help with the product.  I give Apple it's first F.
How can I restore from an encrypted backup I didn't encrypt?

Here are an example of just a few threads pulled in 20seconds with multiple users in ech thread chiming in about their similar problem.

  • Is/Are Apple acknowledging Coma Mode yet?

I have a 3G that started the coma mode issue and battery drainage issue immediately after updating to 3.1. My wife with the 3GS has had no problem since the upgrade.
I waited a couple of weeks, waiting for a patch or something, dealing with "coma mode" 3-4-5 times per day and the device needing to be near a power outlet because of drainage within 3-4 hours. Finally went to an Apple store on the weekend.
    1) Apple store in Los Angeles -- super high volume
    2) the Genius stated he had NOT seen my issue come across the bar. 2 other Geniuses within earshot did NOT chime in to say they had
    3) the Genius ran the diagnostic and said he came up with NO errors, just a notation that 3 of my apps had crashed at some point
    4) long story short -- he sent me home with a replacement 3G
    5) It had 3.0 on it, but I wanted to see if 3.1 could run on it, so I upgraded to 3.1
    6) NO BATTERY PROBLEMS --- (yet). I refused to change ANY of my settings that I have kept the same for close to a year before the 3.1 update without experiencing problems, so it can't be chalked up to, say, turning push off or disabling bluetooth, or whatever. SAME SETTINGS AS BEFORE THE BATTERY PROBLEM.
    7) *COMA MODE has surfaced*
    8) I got a follow-up phonecall from Apple Care. This person AGAIN said she had NOT HEARD OF THE "COMA MODE" PROBLEM. Not the term "coma mode", not the problem itself. She said she would mark it in my history that I had got a replacement phone and upgraded back to 3.1
Has ANYONE gotten solid acknowledgement from anyone that matters at Apple that a) they are AWARE of the problem and b) they are WORKING on the problem?
Please don't delete this thread, even though it kind of constitutes a poll -- I (and others) are frustrated at the lack of responsiveness and we need to know.

No, but common sense would tell you that Genius and the Tech Support folk are not in a position to tell you what is or is not officially recognized by Apple as a problem.
How so? If you take your car into a mechanic's and there has been a recall on a part on your model of car, would you expect the mechanic to hide this information from you? Or if a number of the mechanic's previous customers reported their wheel falling off on the freeway on your exact model of car, you think the mechanic might mention this to you? Either way, I prefaced my question with "anyone that matters at Apple" because, to me, common sense would dictate that if the Geniuses WERE aware of an official decree, they would very definitely inform the end user of such.
They are also not going to give you anecdotal information about the problems of others.
Again, common sense would tell me that, being human and in a face to face situation with a customer, with that customer asking straight up whether they'd seen this problem before, and its being a very SPECIFIC problem (random shut-offs, necessitating a hard reset), the inclination would not be to lie about it, which immediately leads me to believe that although the various mac boards are buzzing with the issue to the point that large news sources are running with the "coma mode" story, it's not as prevalent a problem as it would seem. OR, the average Genius isn't equipped to diagnose and definitively give the answer to the problem. When asked whether I could sign up with Apple's battery troubleshooting program, the Geniuses in the store I went to said they had never heard of it, and it hadn't been mentioned in their daily training meetings and were skeptical as to whether it actually existed or I was making it up.
So unless they have some official notice of recognized problem, they are going to treat each persons case as unique. Not an unreasonable approach if you think about it.
It's a very reasonable approach, I agree, but either the Geniuses need to be downgraded to mere Eggheads or they need to check out their own newsgroups to see what the gripe of the day is to prepare themselves.
Not everyone that works for Apple can be a spokesman for the company. That would get a bit hard to manage both legally and from a PR point of view.
True, but then they should refrain from fantastical "remedies" to the problem. To use the car analogy again, if you were to take your car to the shop for a scheduled tune-up and it got, say, 30 mpg before you took it in, and when you got it back it topped out at 10mpg, and when you took it back to the shop to see what may have happened, would it infuriate you a little bit to have them tell you to try to inflate your tires or try driving a couple of mph below the speed limit to see if that helped your "problem"?
I think it's also reasonable to assume that Apple tracks issues with all their products in an amount of detail that would make our heads spin.
Now THAT I agree with 100%, which is why I asked the question, because eventually someone will come back with a "YES" they have acknowledged the issue and you can check out what they say at thus-and-such site, and this is the information I would very much like to know, because I handle a corporate account with 50 iphone users, and I would like to know what I can tell them about this issue, as a number of them have reported it to me. I Googled, but sometimes you can't find what you're looking for on Google.

  • Is Apple acknowledgement email good for proof of purchase?

I purchased a new Macbook recently and wanted to print an invoice as proof of purchase however at the time of the purchase I did not make an Apple Id. So when I put my order number in to go to print it ask for an ID. Furthermore, does the acknowledgement email count as proof of purchase?

  • Has Apple acknowledged the bug in OS 10.4.8 that...

...has neutralized my new Intel-based MacBook's wireless capability? There are many others having the same problem yet no updates or fixes have come from Apple. I'd rather hear Steve Jobs tell us they've fixed this bug than hear about the iPhone. C'mon, Apple!!! Deal with the problem!
For the record, my MacBook connected wireless just fine until I updated to 10.4.8. Now the speed of my wireless connection at home is slower than dial-up (while my girlfriend's older Mac running an older OS has no problems connecting to our wireless modem) and I can't connect wireless at all on the road. Very frustrating!!!

Sorry to respond to my own post but I've finally fixed the problem. I took my Macbook to the local Apple store and, while the "genius" there said he'd never heard of a bug with 10.4.8 that affects an Intel Mac's Airport capability, he immediately suggested that I downgrade back to 10.4.7. Here's how to do it without erasing your hard drive and losing all your files:
    1. Start up your Mac from the OS X install disk that came with the computer. Mine came with OS 10.4.7. To do this, start up your mac, insert the system install disk, and then restart holding the "C" button down as the computer restarts.
    2. Select Language
    3. Click continue to get to the "Important Information" screen.
    4. Click continue and the Software License Agreement pops up.
    5. Click Agree
    6. The Destination window appears. Select the location where you want to make the install (most likely your hard drive).
    7. Click Options and the Installation Options Sheet appears.
    8. Select Archive and Install.
    9. Select the volume that already has OS X installed.
    10. Select "Preserve Users and Network Settings". IMPORTANT: if you do not select this option then your files will be erased. If you want to save the data on your hard drive, make sure you select this option.
    11. Click OK
    12. Click continue to begin the installation. It'll take 30-45 minutes and, if your computer came with two install disks, you'll need to be nearby to put in Disk 2 when prompted.
That should do it. My MacBook running OS 10.4.7 now has full wireless capability, just like it did before the disastrous upgrade to 10.4.8.
I hope this helps others having this same difficulty with their Intel Macs and OS 10.4.8. It's too bad Apple is unable to acknowledge they have a problem here.

  • What can we do to get apple to reinstate iWeb and keep it up to date?

What can we do to get apple to reinstate i Web on new computeers and keep it up to date

Not a lot.  Once the decision had been made to get rid of MobileMe the writing was always on the wall for iWeb, so now that they have made the decision there is absolutely nothing that anyone can do.
You can still use iWeb 08 that you have got or you can upgrade to iWeb 09 by purchasing a copy of iLife 09 or 11 from Amazon.

  • Why isn't Apple acknowledging HUGE delays downloading iTunes Plus tracks?

After dozens of posts regarding these problems, still not a word from Apple, here on on the iTunes site.
And of course no fix yet.

Apple is making a bad situation worse by neither limiting demand (sales side) nor increasing supply (more servers).
First and foremost, They just cannot shut down and limit purchases, it doesn't work good of a solution. They just can't get more servers either. You don't just buy a server and hop that it solves the problem seconds after you hook it up.
And it's not a line, with first to buy being first to get downloads -- it's a mob scene as more and more people are trying to download.
A mob scene entering a pipe, thats restricted by bandwidth.
Based on my experience, I think things are getting worse -- of the 32 tracks I purchased, I got 4 in the first 24 hours and have gotten none since.
Plus tracks have only been available for less than 2 days. There are millions of iTunes customers and many of them are using a service that was highly anticipated and demanded. Its like Christmas's with people getting new ipods.
This was my first transaction with the iTunes Store, and I must say I am horrified by how poorly Apple is handling this situation. Do you complain when Best Buy or other retailers are mobbed with people after thanksgiving and after Christmas???

  • HT1222 Has Apple acknowledged the problems with Security Update 2012-001?

I've read a multitude of user forum comments about this update breaking user software, but have not found a single comment by an Apple representative.

    Howdy,
Apparently some are reporting that this causes the older PowerPC (PPC) applications that are supported in 10.6 via 'Rosetta' to crash upon attempting to open/save/print using any dialog box, or fail in other similar ways such as simply not printing or quitting, or freezing/hanging/crashing of the application.
I have read of some companies that have indeed submitted proper bug reports to Apple, but that is not a guarantee of a bug-fix being issued.
    You might wish to read:
    http://www.macintouch.com/readerreports/snowleopard/index.html#d02feb2012
If you are unsure if you are still using PowerPC apps, if the application is currently running, look under the 'Activity Monitior' (in Applications -> Utilities), or alternatively you could check in the System Profiler, Applications. Check the column "Type".
Here is a fairly simple way you can restore you system and restore you applications functionality again, if you don't have a recent clone or good Time Machine backup that you can restore from. If you do, restore from your backup prior to having installed the Security Update 2012-001.
    Time Machine restore: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1427
If you are restoring a backup made by a Mac to the same Mac
With your backup drive connected, start up your Mac from the Lion recovery partition (Command-R at startup) or Mac OS X v10.6 installation disc. Then use the "Restore From Time Machine Backup" utility. Select the backup prior to your issues, and it will be restored back to the state it was in at that time.
If you can't easily restore from a backup, you can instead do the following:
    - You first start by reinstalling your OS X 10.6.x, this will preserve all your user data, your applications, no worries there.
    - Then install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 (links provided below)
    - Make sure you're printers are showing up correctly in your system preferences, if not, re-add the printers
    - Then finally, run the Apple Software Update (by pulling down the Apple Menu), and install any and all remaining updates, except do not then re-install the Security Update 2012-001. It is possible that you may have to reboot after installing some of the updates, and you may even need to run it a 2nd time to make sure that you've got all updates, except NOT the Security Update 2012-001.

  • Has Apple acknowledged that there's an issue with location based reminders?

After searching several posts, I haven't found where Apple is working on a solution for the location reminders issue.  There are several recommendations that people make...but most don't seem to work.  What say you Apple??
Please reply with a link if I missed something during my search that answers my question. Thx

It was a bug. In iOS 7.1 Apple fixed the location based Reminders. Users no longer need to have the Reminders app running in the background for location based reminders to fire off.

  • Is Apple about to introduce a replacement for iWeb?? and where can I download iWeb to replace the one I lost??

Having spent a little time searching for a replacement download for iWeb (details of why below)  it seems that I cannot find it anywhere in Apple Land.  From my limited experience here (iphone,  macbook pro, airport extreme and airport express)  it looks like Apple gradually withdraws stuff prior to introducing something really exciting  to replace it.
    So
Question:   Is there a new super replacement for iWeb about to be introduced?
I cannot believe that Apple would take away something as great as iWeb (having read reviews and used it myself as a complete web novice)  without giving us something better.
I foolishly followed some genius advice and did a wipe/reload of Lion, prior to updating to Mountain Lion (my fault, I thought my lovely Macbook Pro was running a little slow - probably wasnt - just me being impatient.) Anyway, long story short,  I lost iphoto (got it back by re-purchasing but would like a refund - another string running with this),   iWeb - can't find it anywhere - asked questions here in Apple Land and am getting some conflicting answers.
I am sat in London without my iweb for a some days and would really like to get on with a bit of web stuff.
Question:  is there anywhere in Apple Land where I can download iWeb
Question:  can you confirm that the iweb programme will be on one of the disks that came with the machine?   (they are 100 miles away so I will have to wait, unless there is an easier way)
    Sorry,  rambling a bit.
Hope you can help out there
    Thanks
    Steve

The iWeb application was specifically created to be used with .Mac and then MobileMe and Apple withdrew support for iWeb several months ago, when it was announced that MobileMe would be no longer and would be replaced by iCloud.  MobileMe ceased at the end of June this year and has been replaced by iCloud, that does not offer web hosting, so no need for iWeb.
Apple stopped selling iWeb in its stores several months ago and has withdrawn support for iWeb, so no, you won't find either iWeb or iDVD for sale in the Mac App Store because Apple no longer sells it.
You cannot download iWeb, so if you want iWeb, you will have to purchase the iLife 11 boxed set from Amazon and this contains iWeb 09 which is the latest version of iWeb.  Apple does not sell this either.
If your Mac was running Snow Leopard, then it would have come with installation CD's, so yes, you should be able to re-load the whole of the iLife series, which includes iWeb, iDVD and iPhoto back onto your Mac running Mountain Lion.  You did not need to make an additional purcahse of iPhoto from the Mac App Store - you could have re-loaded from these CD's.  The only place you will get a refund is by contacting the Mac App Store. Nobody here can help you with that.
So if you want iWeb back, check to see if it is on you installation CD's - it should be if you have a Mac running Snow Leopard and put it back on your Mac from there.  If not, then your only option is to purchase the iLife 11 boxed set from Amazon and you can load iWeb from there.
As Apple no longer supports iWeb and there is no MobileMe any longer, then there are unikely to be any further updates to the programme and nothing else will come along.  You can still use the app though if you have it and it works with Mountain Lion, however, there may come a time when it won't work with future iOS updates, so it would pay you to look at the alternatives out there which are many and varied.  Take a look at RapidWeaver, Sandvox, Freeway Pro/Express, Flux 4 etc.  You can download free trials of most and some are for sale in the Mac App Store.
Also, please be advised that this is a user to user forum and everyone here who replies to you is a user, so you are not talking directly to Apple here.
Give Apple feedback directly by going to http://www.apple.com/feedback.
