Apple activation servers??

I just got an iPhone 4 today, super anxious to get it going. I turned on my iPhone and went through everything to the activation and I get the message "Couldnt activate iPhone". I called Apple and Verizon and they said that the servers are being SLAMMED from the iPhone 5 and iOS6. I just want to know when they'll be back up!!!!

Exactly the same issue... I'm trying to download 6.1.4 ipsw to restore it to an older version in order to try to apply the backup. Fingers cressed...

I am having a similar issues with you.
In my case, it is an ipod touch with beta ios7 with legit UDID.
It has been telling me that the activation server might be temporarily down since two weeks ago or even more.
    Is the server really down?

  • [Activation] Apple iOS Activation servers down?

Hi, today i was trying to update my iPhone 4S from iOS 5.0 to 5.1.1. No problems restoring it, but when i try to activate it, the process fails every time. It seems that Apple Activation servers are down?
Im a computer enthusiast and have already checked my home network for issues that can block access to apple servers, also checked from another network and machines, but still no luck. Tried to activate using WiFi on my iPhone, 3G network, and even Connect to iTunes on my PC. I noticed that apple activation server is gs.apple.com. Pinging it from any source on my network just generates timeouts, and even tried to ping it from online pages that provide ping service (ping.eu), but it generates timeouts too.
This is happening since about 3 hours ago, and im still with my iphone waiting for activation, cant restore backups neither. It seems that my iphone, for now, its only filling space on my protective case.
I attached a traceroute and pings from my network and from an online page that provides it, also Screenshots of both errors on my iPhone and iTunes.
    Thanks.

Hi, to activate your iPhone using wi-fi:
    1) Connect to your wi-fi then press the home button and press more wi-fi settings
    2) A blue arrow should appear next to you wi-fi name, press the blue arrow
    3) On the DNS section input 8.8.8.8 and then try the activation again.
    Hope this helps

  • Activation Servers Down?

Hello all! I know this has been asked before, but it seems to be a recurring problem. Are the Apple Activation Servers offline?
My wife's iPhone 4s glitched yesterday so I did a software restore. The phone wants to "activate" but I keep getting the message that the "activation server is temporarily unavailable". I have been getting this message for the past 24 hours. Any one else having the issue or know of a solution?
I have tried the "turn it off and on again" routine, as well as the "restore in DFU mode" about six times and still no luck.
Am I just at the mercy of Apple to get their servers back up and running or is it something else that I am missing?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    BK,
I actually had to go to my local Apple store and meet with a Genius for an hour. What it turned out to be was some "policy" setting.
I read the documentation that the Genius found, and didn't totally understand it, and I am a tech guy by trade. But it apparently had something to do with a setting in my account back at the Apple Mothership, or a check box that didn't get checked on their end.
So he submitted a rapid response ticket to Apple Tech Support and in about an hour the phone activated and was back up and running.
The way he explained it to me is that there are thousands of settings in our accounts back at Apple, and if one little check box goes awry, it can keep the phone from activating. So why it happened, I have no idea and neither did they. But did they get it fixed? Yes.
I hope that helps. But if you can, either give Apple a call, or head to a local store.

Look in the hosts file on your computer (as you didn't say what kind of computer and OS you have I can't tell you where it is, but Google will help). if you see any lines that contain gs.apple.com delete them and your phone should be able to be activated.

  • Received from Apple new iPhone 4s but can not activate.  Screen states activation servers not available.  What's next step?

I purchased a new iPhone 4s as a replacement for a 3GS.  The phone starts up with configuration, recognizes my home network wi-fi, but for the past 3 days, all I can advance to is the activate your phone screen.  I have tried through iTunes, Wi-Fi and cellular and while each has a different wait time initially, in the end it is the can't activate the phone message with the description that the activation servers are unavailable.  Considering that the first iPhone 5 will start this process tomorrow, if the servers aren't prepared now, what will be happening to everyone tomorrow?  I am in Oklahoma and all of my devices received the updated IOS 6 without problems, but this new phone is just waiting.

When Apple replace an iPhone and  the faulty one is  locked to a carrier in this case it will be T-mobile ( they do not sell unlocked iPhones) they will replace the iPhone with a locked one to that carrier
So in theory you should have an iPhone locked to T-Mobile
Call Apple and they can tell you if it is locked and to which carrier .
I am also doubtful that a BB sim will work in an iPhone even if unlocked due to BB Messenger

Is an Apple ACTIVE Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter the same thing as an old Mini-DP to DVI adapter?
Will a different adaptor give me better resolution between my old computer and a new monitor?
    Computer: MBP 15-inch Mid 2010
    Monitor: Dell U2713H
Current cable: 20276 3dv ft1 DVI Digital Dual Link with a Apple Mini-DP to DVI adapter to get it to plug into my MBP.
Possible solution?: Apple ACTIVE Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter instead of my old adapter above?

Yes. A single-link DVI connection can't drive that monitor at its maximum resolution.

  • Apple List Servers Not Working

The Apple list servers seem to be not working. Can someone at Apple please give update as to whether this is being resolved?
    For example:
    http://lists.apple.com/archives/webobjects-dev is definitely not working.
Also cocoa-dev list seems to have no archives since the turn of the year.
5 days later and the lists are still down. Anyone got any idea what is going on?

maybe a DNS issue somewhere, perhaps your ISP or LAN?

  • FYI - Activation Servers

Just thought I'd post a little FYI for anyone out there
looking for another reason to upgrade to RoboHelp 7.
Last week, we reinstalled two licenses of RH X5.02, but
weren't able to activate either one. When I called Support on
Tuesday, 7/22 (since activation over the Internet doesn't seem to
work for X5), they said "call back on Thursday." I did, then they
said the activation servers are still down, probably until sometime
this week. They gave me a link to a patch, which I can use in the
    interim.
Me: Are the activation servers for version 7 working?
    Adobe: Yes, they're working fine.
Me: and the servers for version 5 are not?
    Adobe: That's correct.
It's understandable, I guess, since 5 is an older product and
they no longer provide support plans for it.
    Jim

Excuse me for bringing this up again, but my coworker--who isn't in today--said she did as instructed in the TechNote, and rebooted, but still gets the activation dialog when she tries to use RH X5. It was recently reinstalled after she was upgraded to a newer machine, still running XP.
I'm trying to help her with this. Referring to the TechNote below,
--1) On the Adobe download page referred to in the TechNote, I don't see the 5.0.1 patch explicitly listed. There is a 501 file under the download for Word 2003 Support Update. Is that the one?
--2) Does step 3 of the Tech Note refer to the .exes of the 501 and 502 patches? If not, then what? I downloaded and saved the patches when they were issued, and I don't see a Robohtml.exe or a Robohelp.exe among them.  I have a RHO_x501.exe and a RHO13_x502.exe.
    Thanks,
    Mike
Turn off activation with RoboHelp X5.
Due to activation issues with Adobe RoboHelp X5, the following may be completed to turn off activation with RoboHelp X5.
    Install RoboHelp X5.
Install Patch X501 and X502 from the following link: http://www.adobe.com/support/robohelp/downloads.html
Download RoboHelp.exe and RoboHTML.exe and replace the installed versions with the downloaded versions. The installed versions are in <Install Directory of X5>/RoboHELP/RoboHelp.exe and <Install Directory of X5>/RoboHTML/RoboHTML.exe respectively.
You now will be able to run Adobe RoboHelp X5 without any activation.

  • Digital Editions could not connect to activation servers

ADE will not connect to activation servers with either the computer or my Sony ereader.  Tells me to check internet connections.  They are fine.  Any ideas?

Found this on a public library site so maybe you should uninstall ADE and reinstall with the kobo in.  I think you need to activate both the computer and the device
before you download or borrow anything.  I think the trick is to activate the device before downloading but as that's too late reinstalling then activating might work.
First things first, you should plugin the Kobo before attempting to install ADE.  It won't authorize the device properly unless it is already there.
