Apple Airport Express "restarting" over and over

Hi guys!
This is my very first post, and I really hope you can help me.
I've got an airport express, and it has always worked like a charm, however, a few days ago it was like it was resetting every few min. Sometime it would work fine for 20 min., and then it would become unstable again. When it resets it's solid amber --> flashing amber --> green. Which I guess is pretty standard.
At first I thought it was something with the internet cord, so I changed it - didn't help.
The I though it could be something with the power, so I changed the power cord - no success.
I doesn't "reset" but it's like it's resetting. All my network settings are still there when it starts up again.
I'm running the 7.5.2 version.
I'm hoping that some experts i cyberspace knows what to do
Thanks!
Thygesen

Are you following the directions in KB 302153, AirPort Express: How to join an existing wireless network in client mode?
Is the AirPort Express (AX) placed in an area where it can receive a good wireless signal from the Netgear?
Does the AX connect if you disable wireless encryption?
WPA (or WPA2) is much more secure and less troublesome than WEP. If all of your equipment supports WPA, I would switch to WPA.

  • Apple AirPort Express with Airtunes and Netgear WPN824v2 Router

I'm having some trouble getting the AirPort Express with Airtunes to connect to a Netgear WPN824v2 network.
    Details:
    - Router: Netgear RangeMax Wireless Router WPN824v2
    - Wireless Network Security: WEP
    - Computer: MacBook Pro
    - OS: OS X 10.4.10
    - AirPort card in computer: this works fine - no problems
    - AirPort Express with Airtunes: the setup routine goes OK, but then the unit cannot connect to the wireless network; the light blinks amber.
Could the problem relate to the password (Hex versus ASCII) or perhaps WEP versus WPA?
Any / all suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Yes, it is one of the things AirPort Express was specifically designed for.

  • HT201210 I did the update on my phone and now it just keeps restarting itself over and over again. It will come up with the black screen and apple sign and shut off and bring that up again. What do I do?

First I did the update under general like I do every couple months. My phone came up with a screen, at the end of the update, that had a picture of the itunes icon and a picture of the iphone cord like I was supposed to connect to itunes. I did and itunes said that my phone needed to be "restored" to be reusable again, and the only option it gave me was to click the restore button. So I did and it went through a 30 minute restore session. Now my phone just shows the black screen with the apple icon and restarts over and over again. Clicking the buttons does nothing. It has been doing this for hours now. What do I do?

The screen is telling you to connect the iPod to your computer and restore via iTunes.

  • I need to restart - over and over...

My iBook which is about 2 years old, has been shutting off when the charger is not in, like some previous posters' machines, for the last couple of months. Which is annoying, but I can cope with that.
But just the other day, the machine went all black and would not turn on at all. When it finally did, the screen was white with some black printing, and I needed to either re-boot or shut off. I tried both, but the same message came up if I managed to turn it on again (most times it would just sound like it was turned on, but the screen would remain black).
Now I have reached another level, without doing anything but what I have mentioned above: I manage to turn it on, and it all seems ok - my wallpaper and everything appears for a few seconds. Before I get the "switch off" wheel, and "You need to restart your computer". I do, then turn it back on, and get the same message, over and over and over...
Can anyone please help, or give me some hints on whether all's lost for my iBook?
    Thanks!

Hey Sasti and Welcome to Apple Discussions,
"You need to restart your computer". I do, then turn it back on, and get the same message, over and over and over...
That's a kernel panic. Look here:

The first suspects would be Airport card, added RAM and bad OS/hard drive.

    This is what worked:
"In iTunes, I signed out of the store. I exited itunes and restarted it, logged back into the store (with my apple id), then I pulled down the iTunes menu in the menu bar and selected Check for updates.
At this point it said that iTunes 11.1 was available and I'm downloading now " Quoted from a fellow user.
    It fixed my problem.

  • IMac won't start up Mac OS X - Restarts over and over again

Last night when I put my iMac to sleep, the screen turned off but then the fans kicked into overdrive and the computer was unresponsive. This has happened before (once in a blue moon), so I just manually shut it down and went to bed. When I turned it back on this morning, it boot up normally and all of my startup applications opened. Then when I went to open Safari, its dock icon would blink but never actually open. Force quit failed from every possible direction, then Activity Monitor would do the same thing. These also prevented me from logging out or restarting, so again, I had to manually shut it down when it became evident the problem was not going to resolve itself.
Upon pressing the power button and starting it again, the iMac would load the grey Apple screen with the spinning gear, but after about a minute and a half restart on its own, over and over like Groundhog's Day. I tried resetting the SMU - nothing. I tried resetting the PRAM - nothing. I tried staring in Safe Mode - nothing. Where do I go from here??

So I fixed the restart problem. It was some sort of mounting error that was remedied when I reinstalled Tiger from my original grey disks. I chose Archive and Install, like I have done in the past with my PB, and am left in a state of confusion. Rounding off to even numbers, I probably had 30 GB of music, 35 GB of video and 50 GB of photos. Expecting those to be gone, I was able to transfer them to an external a friend let me borrow, in hopes of copying them all back to my disk if the archive and install worked. Well, it did to the point that I am running a fully operational OS X.
So, I now have two questions:
    - If all of those files are nowhere to be found in Finder/Spotlight/anywhere, why do I only have 14 out of an original 150 GB hard drive?
    - Is there a way to gain permissions to the files and folders in "Previous Systems," even if there may be nothing in them?
Sorry this was long-winded, just trying to keep all up to speed. Thanks again for any assistance.

  • My iPod touch 4th generation suddenly started restarted over and over for no apparent reason...

So, last night while I was asleep, my iPod Touch started to restart over and over. It loads with the Apple symbol, but with a little settings cog at the bottom of it, and when it get's to the password screen, it stays there for about one second, and the process starts over again. It wont respond to being turned off or on, and the password numbers are unresponsive.
I tried pressing and holding the off button and the home button, and it turns off briefly before starting up again. It turns on without the little settings cog, but as usual, it stays at the password screen for a second, then the loop continues.
I've tried plugging it into my computer, but all that does is make it do it's little 'I'M CONNECTED TO THE COMPUTER' beep every time it turns on! I don't fancy taking it to Apple to repair, as I use it every day and I don't really fancy spending the money and having to wait. If any one has had any success with this issue, I would be extremely grateful.
Any suggestions would be completely welcome - even if they're not things that have proved to work. I'm pretty desperate.

Use RecBoot to kick it into recovery mode and restore it.

  • Iphont battery meter not working/ push notifications not working/restarting over and over again.

A few weeks ago, I went on a vacation out of the country. I had my iphone 5 on airplane mode for a week. When I got back and turned it off of airplane mode, it started restarting over and over again right after being plugged into the charger. Eventually, it seems to get ahold of itself and stops turning on and off, but the phone battery meter freezes where ever it is at that point. If it has 100% battery, it says it has 100% battery until it dies. If it only has 1% battery, I'll leave it on the charger long enough to have 100%, but it will still say 1%. The battery life itself is not any different. According to the meter, my phone will stay on all day with 1%. Also, after being dead, my phone would turn on immediately after being plugged in (rather than waiting a few minutes to get enough charge as usual). I think this is because since my phone does not know how much battery it has, it thinks it has enough to turn on right away.
I visited the apple store, and they told me to restore it as a new phone. When I did this, it did not work at first. But after a day, my phone battery life meter started working normally again, and it stopped doing the turn on/turn off continuously thing. BUT imessage no longer worked. It said "waiting for activation" for two weeks. Also, push notifications no longer worked. Every time I openned an app, it would notify my that i could not have push notifications and to connect to itunes. Certain apps wouldnt work at all (snap chat, lulu). They would just give the alert about push notifications over and over again.
I wanted imessage back, so I restored my phone as new once again. This time, imessage, push notification, snapchat, ect. started working again. But, it has gone back to not knowing how much battery life it has and restarting over and over again after being turned on from a dead state. WHAT DO I DO?! I don't want to have either of these problems. It's kind of like my phone has a virus.
note: the first time i turned it on after coming back from vacation, it said "no sim card" for a few minutes.

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Ipod keeps restarting over and over again.

i have a question and am new to the site....i've gone throught two ipod classics and both have had the same problem...after like 8 months of use they both started restarting over and over again...i let the battery die and then charged it but when i plug it in it will start up as far as the apple appearing on the screen then it will make a sound and go blank then restart over again..does anyone have any advice on what could of happend or what i an do about it...i'd rather not buy my 3rd ipod...

    I had the same problem. Here is the Easy solution;
    1) Hold down the middle button and the "menu" button until the screen goes black.
    2) As soon as the screen goes black, keep holding the middle button, let go of the menu button and hold the "play" button.
Your ipod will reset. Just plug it up to the computer and restore!

  • My ipod 5 keeps restarting over and over

I haven't even had my iPod 5 for a year and it's starting to restart by itself over and over again.

    First
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If you can't do the above
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Contact Apple Support or an Apple Store if you have one near you. Your battery needs to run through the diagnostic test. You can also try to put the device into Recovery mode as well and rsetore the iOS software, and set up the device as new. Follow this article on Recovery Mode:
