Apple and apogee gio
geez is it just me ?but i can,t get any adequate information from apple or apogee on this gio thing. it looks really interesting but without any reviews or anyone who has used it .i just dont know what to do about it. Of coarse all this is totly illrelevent if its not out yet and ive just showed the whole apple community what a big dumdass i can be. so if someone can enlighten me great and abig thank you.

hi everyone thisis great four replys . i feel now like i actuallay participating in the forum. iv e been only observing since may and am tying to to get a feeling for things like forum ettiqett .doing pre reshearch on things befor i actually post. yes ive been to all sites but yet have failed to find anyone who actually has had one to see what they think and see what experience they are having with it. . ilove my apogee duet. but i,m new to the whole recording sceane. have decided logigic 9 and apple products are the way iwant to go. have amac book pro 4 gigs of ram 200 gig internal hardive time capsule for backups. amotu fastlane midi interface 2or 3 microphonesfor recording an old O1W pro 76 keys and a stratocaster so the right giutar midi interface wuold seem to round out my first really home studiolots to choose from .i like that the gio seems to be agood pair up with apple i just havent seen anyone with hand on experience yet with mainstage a nd logic it, may be it just to soon for real good feed back on it yet. so thanks for your rely and feel free to give good forum etteqett my way . i can take constructive criticing fairly well as long as noone insults mom of coarselol. thanks.

I can't get sound out of Digi core audio manager---I can hear it through speaker in computer if I select that option, but I can't get sound from apogees. Spoke with apple and digidesign, ---I can't get it to work. Pro tools works fine---When I look at Digi core audio window the hardware settings window is grey and not accessible. the Digidesign CoreAudio driver supports only the first 8 I/O of your first (main) interface.
You will be able to open the "Digidesign Hardware Setup" from within the "Digidesign CoreAudio Manager", if no application is up and running that is using this CoreAudio driver.

I recently upgraded to Logic Pro 9 and for some reason I am unable to record an Audio track via my sE2200a mic and Apogee Duet. I was able to do so before the upgrade. I cannot be definate that the problem occurred immediately after the upgrade, because I was not doing any audio recording for a while (I was using using loops and midi recording).
I went thru the setup manual for the Apogee Duet but the screens do not match the screen shots in the manual anymore and so I am not sure the Apogee Duet is set up properly to work with Logic Pro 9. When I sing into the mic, I see the recording levels on the Apogee Duet move so the mic seems to be working, but I cannot get any audio into Logic pro. I would appreciate it if either someone could point me in the direction of an updated manual for the Apogee Duet and/or Logic Pro that details how the Audio setup should be done, or any other ideas to stop me from pulling my hair out!
I am pretty new to Apple, Logic Pro and the Apogee Duet, so be gentle!:-)

In order to be able to record the audio, you must "record enable" the audio track. There is a small button on the track labeled "R" (beside the mute and solo buttons). When you click it, it turns red, thus indicating the audio track is armed and ready to record.
Also, make sure your audio track is set to the correct input. I have my mic plugged into XLR input 2 on my Duet, so I must select "Input 2" on the audio track in Logic.
See if that works for you. -

Jon.iPad 3 with camera USB adapter <- powered USB hub main into iPad. Apogee Gio into USB hub. The guitar input and headphones work. The pedal buttons do nothing. This was a breakthrough for me. Didn't want to purchase yet another input device. Apogee Gio can not be powered from the iPad. However once powered from the USB hub, it works. Also plugged my m audio 49 keyboard into USB hub. Everything worked. Rich sound through apogee with headphones.

i am having macbook air recently my iphotos did not open and was showing report apple and reopen but i came to know that by pressing alt and iphotos i open an new photo library and stored the pics but now how can i get the pics which i had in the earlier photo please help me to recover my photos
Well I'll guess you're using iPhoto 11:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Reinstalling Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer. -
i was given a macbook 5.1 by my mom, being nice, she erased everything on it, but then could not find the original start up disc. i called apple and had the serial number and said that leopard 10.5 was the operating system that orginally came with it, so i bought it. when i got it,i turned on computer, put in dvd, and immediately shut it off, then turned it back on while pressing letter c. (they told me to do this) i can hear the disc turning but alls i get is blank screen then it shuts down, and restarts. nothing ever shows up on the screen. did i get a wrong disc? should there be something different than just the mac os x leopard 10.5 to get this computer to work again?? thanks for your help!
It means what it says. The "computer person" formatted it wrongly/ unsuitably. it needs to be formatted again.

After some advice, I am new to Apple and looking to purchase either the MacBook Air 13inch with 256GB and 8GB mem or the MacBook Pro 13inch with retina 256Gb and 8GB mem. I am an assistant principal in a primary school and also studying my masters at university. I don't play computer games and I don't watch movies. I do store photos and videos of my kids and music on iTunes. I also like browsing the net with numerous windows open, check email etc. I am really wanting long battery life as I do a lot of my work on the couch - not close to a PowerPoint. Would the air do the trick or will it soon be outdated as Apple move towards retina display? Both air and pro seem very thin - almost the same? And not much difference in weight either so both very portable which is also a necessary requirement. Just can't help dreaming about that 12 hour claimed battery life. Any helpful advice/opinions, very much appreciated. Thanks
It's not likely that you'll get 12 hours in reql life. Those benchmarks are set under very strict controlled conditions. Kind of like mileage per gallon claims on cars. If 16GB of ram is an option at all I'd highly recommend you get that. As far as storage 256GB isn't alot, consider storing some things on an external thunderbolt real

MacBook Pro doesnt start. When I start my lap top, it shows the apple and the line uploading but it only goes like to 1/3 and then it goes blank for some seconds, then it turns off by itself and turn on again and happen the same, apple logo, line .. the noise like-fan going on, then turn off and turn on again. Tried starting holding option command P and R key and didnt work either. Starting to think I have lost all my data inside

An Open Letter to Apple and the MPAA
I have been an “Apple fanboy” since 1989 when my father first brought home a Mac IIx. I’ve also always believed in paying for things you consume. An addendum to that is I also believe that those you buy from should be honest and treat their paying customers like they want repeat business.
The Apple TV and the “airplay” feature has caused me more pain than it is worth. In many instances it has failed me to a level that makes me want to never watch a movie again. I buy every single piece of music or video I watch, and yet the MPAA and Apple continues to treat me like a pirate. I ask, why should I not just become a pirate?
I work at a great job. My time is worth $60/ an hour. So when I waste an hour trying to airplay movies from my iPod Touch to my Apple TV in an internet outage only to find out Apple assumes I am a thief and says my previously authorized Apple TV is “not authorized,” it is frustrating to the highest degree. You cost me 60 dollars in time because you are worried about someone stealing $10? In every day life, that is called a horrible human being.
I expect my media to work on VHS standards. By that I mean, I should be able to pack up my Apple TV and my iPod, go to a friends house that doesn’t have internet, and be able to play on their TV. If you cannot deliver that to me, you are a waste of my time and I will seek entertainment elsewhere. It makes me extremely upset that I bought the movies thinking it would work in these situations. Instead, I am fumbling with the remote and others are laughing that Apple isn’t so great. It won't even let me stream a DVD from my iMac in an internet outage!
It is bad business to tick off your paying customers because you are worried about poor people that can’t afford $10-20. To me, the convenience of buying from iTunes was well worth the money in time savings. I don’t have to worry about backup and can download anywhere. That is far more valuable than pirating. Yet, you still restrict what I can do. That type of business mentality deserves to be punished harshly. I now understand why people pirate, and hope they pirate to the extent that you all lose your jobs and the movie industry is no more. Video games are better anyway, and that industry (except EA) knows how to treat its paying customers.
My only beef with Apple is not explicitly saying this when I purchased. I assumed it worked like a physical copy in that I can play it where and when I want. Apple, I love what you guys stand for and place great trust in you to fight these big media companies that want to deliver as little as possible for as much as possible. Until you fix the movie streaming, I am not going to buy any movies on iTunes.These are user to user technical support forums, what is your technical support question?

My wife and I have two different accounts with apple, and want to share a database.
Let me start by saying that we both just moved from under a rock and started using Apple and Itunes.
I have a 4S she has a 4. We both created an account before using Itunes. I set up itunes on our home pc (XP) without thinking about her wanting/needing to share the pc for syncing and loading music to our phones. I dont want to plug her in until I am sure we wont mess anything up.
Is there a way we can use one pc and two different devices with two different accounts without a divorce. The majority of cds were hers, so i'm already on her bad list

Sync your calendar with iCloud, then share it publically as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mm6b1a9479. This allows non-iCloud users to view the calendar (but not edit it).

the only way that anyone would be able to see anything at all on your phone is if they knew your apple id password, or they were looking over your shoulder
