Apple application software required to run iTunes?
I'm having some issues here. I tried to open itunes and it says "Apple application software not found. Apple application support is required to run itunes. Please uninstall itunes, then install itunes again."
So I did that. iTunes would open but when I connected my iphone it wouldn't work. Then I got a message that said "itunes.itl cannot be read because it was created on a newer version of iTunes." So i tried to rename the file and that didn't work.
But then I was having some more issues with my computer (the fn buttons weren't working) so i did a system restore to before I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes. I have looked at the forum and tried a couple different things and none of them have worked. I tried opening itunes.exe with winrar and that didn't work. I have an Asus with a Windows 7 64-bit operating system.
So if you can help me it would be greatly appreciated. You should also know that I am not very good with computers so please make your instructions relatively explicit.
I fixed it! You have to uninstall every apple program on your computer though. All of them. Then you have to reinstall iTunes. If you get the iTunes library.itl message use the link below.
This link helped me
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_I_fix_this_issue._ITunes_Library.itl_cannot_be_ read_because_it_was_created_by_a_newer_version_of_iTunes
My iTunes folder was named just iTunes library so I renamed that to iTunes.old then updated it and it worked!

1. Save iTunes install file to your desktop.
2. Disconnect from internet.
3. Disable Firewall/Security software.
4. Run install. Note that it installs Application Support and a bunch of other software this time.
5. Run iTunes.
6. Enable Firewall/Security software.
7. Reconnect to internet.
8. Download Watchmen Director's Cut post haste.

1. Download and install WinRAR.
2. Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe icon and choose "Open with WinRAR".
3. Once the EXE is opened in WinRAR, double-click AppleApplicationSupport.msi and when the installer window is open choose "Repair".
4. Done! You can now run iTunes normally. -
when i try to open itunes on windows keeps saying apple application is required to run itunes error 2 windows error 2
You could try downloading and installing 7-Zip (free) and downloading a fresh copy of the iTunes installer, unpack the installer into its components using 7-Zip then try a standalone install of AppleApplicationSupport. It may still fail to install but if so you may get useful error messages as to why not.

I am a Windows 7 user and everything has been fine, but when I just tried to open itunes I got an Error 2 message. "Apple application support not found. uninstall and install itunes again." I have done that twice with the same result. this was the 64 bit version.
Check this Apple document out -> Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
Try following the steps in that article, which will have you remove iTunes and the other bundled Apple software. Then download and install iTunes 10.4.1 for Windows (64 bit). -
I can't install itunes for windows 7 to 64bit i tried several times and at the end show up this...
"apple application support was not found apple application is required to run ituneshelper please un istall itunes then install itunes again erro 2" ..so what it does mean? ..can somebody help me for this please? thanksLet's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.) -
I have a new iTouch. I'm having trouble downloading iTunes. I keep getting the error message: "Apple Application Software was not found. Apple application support is required to run iTunesHelper. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again. Error 2." I have uninstalled and tried installing again and get the same error message. What do i need to do?
LgInstall 7-Zip (free), or a free trial of WinRAR, and use one of them to extract the contents of the iTunesSetup.exe or iTunesSetup64.exe installer file, then try installing AppleApplicationSupport.msi as a standalone component. Even if it won't install you may get a more useful error message as to why not.

I am trying to install itunes (64 bit) after downloading Windows 8.1 on my HP Laptop. I keep getting an error message Windows Error 2--"Apple App;ication Support is required to run itunes helper" Does anyone have any simple suggestions for a user with limited knowledge of Computers?
With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version):
http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, see if iTunes will launch without the error now.

I have instlled and uninstalled iTunes on multiple occasions but iTunes fails to start with message "Apple Application support is required to run iTunes .......... Error 2 (Windows error 2)". Most most frustrating. Can anyone help, pleeeeeeease!!
iTunes "Apple Application Support is required... Error 2" and possible fix.
Hi Redgilly (and others).
I just resolved this on Win Vista (should apply equally for Win7 too). Please uninstall iTunes before proceeding though. I'll walk you through the process I followed, if you like you can jump straight to the Solution section.
Problems:
The initial error during the installation of iTunes was:
An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publicKeyToken='1fc8b 3b9a1e18e3b",processorarchitecture="x86". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT:0x8007054F
The error (after installing iTunes) when trying to run iTunes was:
Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again. Error 2 (Windows error 2).
After trying various fixes around the forums I came across this MSKB article, which relates to the first installation error:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2688946
This lead me to trying to install MS Visual C++ but I received the following error trying to install that:
Error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly ‘Microsoft.VC80.ATL,type=”win32”,version=”8.0.50727.762”,publicKeyToken=”1fc8b3 b9a1e18e3b”,processorArchitecture=”amd64”’. Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x80070BC9. Assembly interface: IassemblyCacheItem, function: Commit, component: {837BF1EB-D770-94EB-A01F-C8B3B9A1E18E}
Note: The installation of VC++ rolls back when it fails.
Solution:
Through this error I found this MSKB article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946414
The Automated MS "Fix It" msi package didn’t work.
Note: Please backup your registry first (see the above MSKB article for instructions).
I opened the registry and (as instructed in the MSKB article) deleted the following keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\
PendingXmlIdentifier
NextQueueEntryIndex
AdvancedInstallersNeedResolving
Reboot and reinstall iTunes.
I hope this helps. -
It says this when I try to open iTunes:
Apple Application Support was not found.
Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again.
Error 2
I've tried uninstalling it and installing it several times. I've tried to download Apple Application Support separately but it just says:
An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4... Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT:0x800736FDYou have missing information in your Windows programming.
You need to repair your computer so it can run iTunes. If you plug those error codes into your browser you may get an answer. -
