Apple Authorised Internet Sellers

I have just had an interesting conversation with a senior staff member at Apple about authorised sellers.  This may not be news to some of the more experienced community ‘bretheren’ but I thought people newer to Apple may be interested.
I am a new Apple customer and as part of my exploration of Apple’s services I had been trying to find out how a potential customer could identify an Apple Authorised Internet Seller.  Locating an authorised ‘shop’ was easy enough through the Apple website but I wanted to know more about buying on-line.
I had looked at the US site https://www.apple.com/buy/ and seen that this particular information was openly published under the heading ‘Apple Catalog & Internet Resellers’.  However, the same information was not available on the UK website at http://www.apple.com/uk/buy/
The Apple representative informed me that the UK operated differently and that there were no Apple Authorised Internet sellers in the UK other than for Apple’s own On-line Shop.
As regards the authenticity of the products sold online other than through the Apple Online Shop, he explained that Apple only sold to authorised sellers. Non-authorised sellers obtained genuine Apple products from third-parties and sold them on.  He explained that these products may well be genuine but Apple had not authorised the company to sell them. Clearly the danger when buying from these non-authorised sellers is that a product may or may NOT be a genuine Apple product.
He accepted my suggestion that it may be useful to include in http://www.apple.com/uk/buy/ this information about internet sellers in the UK not being authorised.
As a footnote, I have to say that I found the way that Apple dealt with my query was a superb example of customer service.  They were thorough and polite.  The supervisor even supplied me – at his instigation and not my request – his office telephone number and email so that I could contact him directly on other matters in the future.

    Hi
I filled out the apple authorised reseller program but i couldnt select my country (Sri Lanka) in the 2nd step (Locations and Contacts) in the dropdown box only Canada is available. Can you please help me out.
    Thank You

Unfortunately, Apple's channel programs pages say at this time they're not accepting any applications for resellers:
    http://salesresources.apple.com/cp/channel/channel_update.html
You can keep checking that page from time to time and see if they once again open up application for resellers. When or if that will happen, none of us here can say.

  • Be Careful With Apple Authorised Services in Russia

    Dear Society,
I have bad experience with contacting one of authorised services which is published in Apple web site. It is a company called "Service.OK" and situated in Zelenograd in particular. My MacBook Air 2,5 years old got to have a problem with a screen after few drops of wine leak inside from the vent area where black panel is situated and served for monitor and keyboard panels junction. I have not expected the problem with the laptop because the glass of wine feltdown far away from the place it is situated however it was lying upside down and closed. So drops still most probably go inside. After certain period of time I switched it on and started working. Suddenly the screen goes blue and later fade away. Next day I brougt it to the address where this "Service.OK" is situated for diagnosis.
In a week I got a call from the service where they offered to repair for about 7500 RUR in cleaning the oxidation that was caused by the wine. I gave my permit for this operation. After a week time I got a new call from the service and they informed me that they were unsuccsesful with reparing it and my laptop requires to change the whole screen panel. The price of it was 23000 RUR. This time I was angree that this company is not able to do right diagnosis and I do not know what to expect later even if changing the screen panel will be unsufficient for them. I asked them to stop any actions and return the laptop back to me. I promise to compensate thier effort for diagnosis though. The service said that I can pick up it after receiving sms notification.
13 days left and I got this sms notification. I was back from the business trip and came there in 5 days. And (what a surprise!!!) I got another display panel assembled to the keybord panel with my serial number. I am 100% sure that it is not mine from the scratches I had on the top/screen panel. I rejected to take it and called to
    (A) Service.OK contact number claiming that and
    (B) Apple support contact number desribing the problem.
    (A) Service.OK informed me that my laptop was not delivered to them. The company which is operating on the address where Service.OK is shown in Apple web-site is no longer their representative point. It is another company as far as I unvestigated. However I got
    (1) a receipt with Service.OK web address reference,
    (2) Service.OK web site contained an information about my laptop being received and reviewed and
    (3) Service.OK point shown on their web site is the same where I gave my laptop.
    (B) Apple support specialist Natalia was responsible to communicate with me about my claim. She promised to report about this problem to higher department responsible for servises authorisation in Apple. However I was really dissapointed that no actions toward Service.OK was made by Apple. It is still on the authorised services list on the same address where I gave my laptop. She can only sorry to me because Apple has no legal company in Russia to handle this situation and thier company is just for providing support.
So I have a situation that neither Apple nor Service.OK are not willing to take responsibility that my laptop does not received qualified diagnosis under Apple authorisation and additionally its parts were changed while this diagnosis.
I am now consulting with lawer in order to investigate opportunity to claim about this problem to either Service.OK or company that issued an official receipt (or even propably to Apple) in the court.
Thus I would like to underline following statements:
    - Be carefull with authorised service centers in Russia. Apple seems to do not care about what is going on there.
    - Never deal with point in Zelenograd and be careful with other Service.OK points.
    - Know your laptop serial numbers before giving it to diagnosis otherwise it is unable to prove own position.
I will be thankful if anybody from society had such problem in the past and may give any advice. Any opinions are welcome.
    Thanks
    Dimitri

  • Apple Authorised Service Provider in West Africa

Please advise on any Apple Authorised Service Provider in West Africa, preferably Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Togo,, Benin and Nigeria.
The more I get used to Apple and the more I became dependant on the Apple computers and you can imagine how frustrating it can be to have to bring a computer all the way from either the States or France and not be able to sort out maintenance problem.

  • Is servicing at an Apple Authorised Service Providers free?

My iPod broke. I have warranty and I'm pretty sure that this kind of damage is covered by it. If I go to an Apple Authorised Service Providers, would they recognise that I have that warranty or do I have to go to an actual Apple Store?

Btw I don't get why Apple are outsourcing their services to these third-party "Premium Resellers" who only sell Apple products anyway. Why not just open up more Apple Stores?

  • Is having the original receipt or invoice obligatory to have Apple authorised service?

    Hello!
Apple Authorised technical service in Krasnoyarsk, Russia refuses to accept my MacBook Air 11-inch guarantee claim arguing I must have original invoice or receipt to to have guarantee service.
I dont have the original receipt, but apple.com clearly prooves that my guarantee is valid until 29 May 2013!!
Is the Apple Guarantee for MacBook is WorldWide? What should I do to make them accept my claim?

Official  Apple stores ir Russia? No.
    Official service and resellers only.
But I bought my MacBook in US. So a man from official Apple service (This shop is listed on apple.com as official repair service) demands my receipt from Apple Store. But I bought my device on Amazon, not in Apple Store.
Is my device covered by worldwide guarantee?

  • Apple Authorised Service Provider

how do i become a apple Authorised service provider?

Basically you don't at this time. The site James linked to above says that Apple is not accepting applications for service provider at this time.
Note that being an Apple service provider, even if they were accepting new applications, would not qualify you to repair iPhones or other iOS devices. Apple does not presently certify any independent service providers, even ones they already have under contract, to do actual repairs on such devices. I mention this just since you were discussing repair of an iPhone in another thread.
    Regards.

  • I bought my wife an ipad for xmas and the machine is faulty the apple authorised dealer admitted it was faulty and wants to replace my new machine with a factory refurbished unit. I told them that i will only accept a new one? am i right?

i bought my wife an ipad retina for xmas and the machine is faulty, it keeps on switching off. the apple authorised dealer admitted it was faulty and wants to replace my new machine with a factory refurbished unit. I told them that i will only accept a new one as it is only a few weeks old and had the problem from the begining? is it correct that apple replaces new defective products with factory refurbished one? I have used apple products most of my life from mac 2 to G5. I had over a dozen apple machines and never had a problem so far? I do not believe this is right..

In the EU there is also a mandatory two year warranty by european union law. I am not a lawyer but i never signed or agreed to any apple policy at the time of purchase, i was told you have a two year guarantee bring it back if anything goes wrong which i did and now i am being quoted all sorts of policies. my own policy is that if you buy new you get new, with no excuses.  I feel a bit cheated by apple if i have to compromise with a second hand unit. the unit is not even a month old and we took it to the original store a couple of weeks after it was bought and they sent us to take it to a servicing dept in another town. I am an apple fan and expect excellent service like the products themselves.
No one ever does sign anything - the purchase itself, where you exchange money for the product, is your de facto agreement to all warranties and policies set forth by both the seller and the OEM supplier.  That's a pretty firmly established principle of consumer law (image the nightmare if you had to read and sign to such things every time you purchased anything or everything?).
You can complain to the store or to Apple about it if you wish.

  • Are Apple's internet payment systems vulnerable to the Heartbleed virus?

Are Apple's internet payment systems vulnerable to the Heartbleed virus that apparently has infected https connections for banks and other businesses?

If anyone were vulnerable, they would not announce it. Almost always, these announcements come from interent security firms and watchdog groups.
and if they did announce it, it would be after it was fixed.

  • Apple tv & internet download allowance

    Hi there everyone
I  have recently changed over to an iMac and also have been given as a gift apple TV and am delighted with everything. Although I do have a question regarding my internet download usage which is 40gb a month. I watched a film of my own stored on iTunes and viewed it through my apple TV. On checking my download usage for that day, when little other internet activity was done I was surprised to see my usage for that day was 2gb. I can only think it was watching the movie through the apple TV that was responsible for this. I have done a search on the internet regarding this and there seems to be conflicting opinions regarding download usage when playing your own movies, music and viewing photos through apple TV, any views would be helpfull.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
This all depends on what you classify as your own movie.
If it is a movie that is stored in your iTunes library on your computer and not one that you have purchased from the iTunes store, then there will be no Internet usage whatsoever.
If it is your movie that is in your iTunes library but was purchased from the iTunes store, then there may be a small amount of Internet usage while the Apple TV checks home to make sure that the content is authorised, this would be nowhere near 2 GB though.
If you are talking about a previously purchased movie from the iTunes Store, that you download from the purchased section of the movies feature on the Apple TV, then yes this will use the Internet to re-download this movie to your Apple TV.

  • Is there a way of finding out what has been accessed on my MacBook Pro whilst in the possession of an apple authorised service centre?

    Hi Guys,
I'm a bit new to this discussion group thing although I've been using Macintosh computers for many years (showing my age).
I handed my MacBook Pro to be repaired at an authorised apple service centre. When I handed it in they said they needed to keep hold of it to run some diagnostics and requested my password. I've owned various models of mac for the the past 17 years and this is the first hardware problem I have encountered, hence I have never bothered to set up user accounts.
As I live in quite a remote part of Sweden I am paranoid that some untrusted technician is going to make a copy of my music (11,000 tracks) or share some of my personal information (scanned copies of my birth certificate, passport, certificates, photos, etc.) on the web. Is there a way of finding out what activity has taken place whilst they've had it in their possession?
I appreciate any advice you guys can offer.
    Thanks!
PS: I've already thought about the 'recently opened' menu and The machine in question is a MacBook Pro 17" (2011) running OS X 10.6.8 (need Rosetta).

I am paranoid that some untrusted technician is going to make a copy of my music (11,000 tracks) or share some of my personal information (scanned copies of my birth certificate, passport, certificates, photos, etc.) on the web.
If you put your info into the computer and hand it to another, you have to assume they will copy everything.
Why are you putting scanned copies of valuable identity information into a computer than can be hacked, stolen, lost or compromised by a dirty tech?
    Have you lost your mind?
Is there a way of finding out what activity has taken place whilst they've had it in their possession?
No. The tech would just deny it if he did, or tell the truth which the answer would be "NO" in either case.
The employer won't ask that sort of questions without solid proof, less they make a enemy of the employee and/or risk being sued for defamation of character.
It's not like they bother to have a team of people watching over his shoulder that he doesn't stick a USB thumb drive of your data into his pocket to take home.
I am paranoid that some untrusted technician is going to make a copy of my music (11,000 tracks)
If it's iTunes music, it has your personal ID embedded into the song files. Most IT techs know this though.
I appreciate any advice you guys can offer.
Too late now, all you can do is not worry about it.
Take your personal info out of the machine and if you need it, burn cd/dvd copies, a few USB thumb drives, Iron Keys or self encrypting external storage drives with key and/or keypad.

So The Serial Number W80201QNATN is from your original invoice when you first bought the MBP. The same serial number is on the body of the MBP. The same serial number shows up in System Profiler when you start the MBP.
That all matches with the information given from one of the links I posted earlier. It fits your MBP perfectly:
    Serial number: W80201QNATN
Name: MacBook Pro (Mid 2010 13 inch)
    Group1: MacBook
    Group2: Pro
    Generation: 71
    ModelCode:
    Machine Model: MacBookPro7,1
    Model introduced: 2010
    Production year: 2010
    Production week: 20  (May)
Production number: 1994 (within this week)
    introduced test: 2010 (0) 1
    introduced test: GOED
    CPU speed: 2.66GHz
Family name: Become a pro user to see this information. (sorry)
    Screen size: 13 inch
    Screen resolution: 1280x800 pixels
    Colour: Aluminium
    Factory: W8 (Shanghai China)
Now this is a serial number you provided earlier: 34031968Atm Where does this come from?

AppleTV does not allow you to browse the internet, but it uses it for certain services via the icon driven menus.
