Apple AV Cable Music Problem

I just bought an Apple AV component cable (authentic) and I am having problems.  Please help!  If I do not figure it out before Monday I will be returning this cable.
I have the cables connected to my Samsung LCD TV the way the manual instructs.  The video/audio and the photo slide show works but when I go to play my music the TV says the cable is not connected or something like that and there is no music coming from the TV.  Any ideas?
I called Apple Technicans who informed me that to talk to someone about the problem it would be $30 a phone call but that they could email me the information.  I asked them to email me the info which was the infromation that I had already found on their site...it was not helpful.
Please help!
Thanks!

Greetings robhutton89,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
Sorry, but it looks like that adapter does not support video output. From the product page:
This adapter lets you connect devices with a Lightning connector to many of your 30-pin accessories.* Supports analog audio output, USB audio, as well as syncing and charging. Video output not supported.

  • Apple TV 2g music problems, streaming from iPod.

I can stream iTunes music from my iMac to my Apple TV 2g, but whenever I try to stream music directly from my iPod Touch 4g library or my iPad, nothing happens, however movies will stream just fine. I have the AirPlay/Apple TV tab on both iPod & iPad music screen so it seems they detect the Apple TV, but the Apple TV doesn't detect them. I never had this problem when I first purchased the device.

I have been having the exact same problem.
It started after I let Apple TV upgrade to a newer version of the software. After that I could stream video and play music, TV shows and movies from iTunes library on my PC but I cannot get my iPad2 or my iPod Touch 4 to play thru Apple TV anymore.
I hope someone can reply with a solution.

    Which TV do you have.
You may wish to try the following:
Press and hold the menu and the up button simultaneously on the remote for six seconds, the Apple TV should then begin to cycle through the various resolutions available to it at 20 second intervals.. If you see a picture appear up on your screen, use the remote to scroll down to the OK option and select it.

  • IPod Touch 2nd Gen Video Out Problem with Apple Component Cable

I'm trying to get video out working with my iPod touch connected to my TV. Here's the information.
32 GB iPod Touch 2nd Gen
    Apple Universal Dock (current version.)
Apple Component Out cable for iPod (current version that connects with a dock connector.
I've connected the component cables into the component video input on my TV. When I start playing any video (purchased off iTunes store in Standard Def,) I get a scrambled picture that appears to be the video, and no sound. I purchased the TV in South Korea and haven't gotten to test it yet on a TV back in the US. I have my video out settings with wide screen turned off and set to NTSC (South Korea uses NTSC.) I've also tried every setting combination, and switching the cable connections with the same or similar results. Sorry if a similar problem has been posted elsewhere, but after searching, I couldn't find any similar behavior. Any ideas on what might be the cause? I don't have any other component devices to check if the component on the TV is bad.

I've got that same problem: iPod Touch 2nd Gen, Apple Component Cables, and an HD TV.
The funny thing is, the cable works fine with an iPod Classic (160 GB) but not for the iPod Touch. Can anyone explain why that is?

  • If I remove itunes and its drivers from my computer, as recommended by someone at the Apple store for a problem I'm having, I know my music will come back, but will my playlists still be there as they are now?

If I remove itunes and its drivers from my computer, as recommended by someone at the Apple store for a problem I'm having, I know my music will come back, but will my playlists still be there as they are now? I forgot to ask.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • I recently buy an apple iphone 4s.the problem is that when i started music player on my iphone the speaker is not outputting the sound.and when i lock the phone at the same time the sound starts.thos problem is from last 3 days.and i am really confused???

i recently buy an apple iphone 4s.the problem is that when i started music player on my iphone the speaker is not outputting the sound.and when i lock the phone at the same time the sound starts.thos problem is from last 3 days.and i am really confused???

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If the issue continues, take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.

  • Audio Problem with Apple AV Cable

I just got the genuine Apple AV Cable for my iPod, which is great but when I connect it to my TV, I have to turn the volume right up on both devices. Does anyone else have this issue, or am I gonna have to get the Universal Dock?

Check your volume level under the "Settings" menu at the top level. It comes very low when you first get it. Crank it up and you should be OK.
Apple, however, really pulled a fast one by switching the normal yellow video cable from a typical camera cable output to red and the yellow to sound for right channel. If you do this, you can probably use the output cable you got with your camera and take the AV cable they sold you back to the store.

  • How can you use the same Apple ID for music and apps but have a different iCloud

Collectively in my family we have 1 iPhone 2 ipod(4th gen) and 3 iPad mini's and we like to buy music and apps through the same Apple ID so that we can all share it but we also have a problem about the iCloud.
My son has one iPod and one iPad and he would like his contacts and messages to be shared between HIS two devices but he would also like all of the pictures taken in the family to be shared
The same for my daughter and for me.
Is there a way of selecting which devices share what????
    Thanks a lot

You could and should set up different iCloud accounts in "Settings > iCloud", so that every user has its own email account, calendars, reminders, notes, storage for backups and app data (files etc.), by the way everyone could also use his own account for iMessage (Settings > Messages > Send & Receive) and FaceTime (Settings > FaceTime) so that you all could write and call each other.
Next the Apple ID for music, apps and other media: You all could just set up the ssame Apple ID in "Settings > iTunes & App Stores" for all your media purchases like songs, movies, apps etc.

  • How do I play video podcasts on my TV using via Apple AV cable? After iOS 6 upgrade and being forced to use Podcast app, I'm unable to do this.

I used to be able to play video podcasts on my TV by connecting my iPod touch to the TV via an Apple AV cable.  Now that I've upgraded to ios 6 and the podcasts app got installed along with the upgrade, video podcasts will no longer play on my TV when connecting the iPod to the Tv via an Apple AV cable.  It should be noted that other video content (movies, TV shows, etc) will play when connecting the iPod to the TV via an Apple AV cable.  Is there a setting I need to make that will fix this, or is this yet another bug with the podcasts app? Or is the Podcast app for some reason designed so that you are unable to output a signal via the AV cable when playing back video content (this would be a pretty bad decision on apple's part).  Also, I have to say that I'm not happy at all with the Podcasts app, so if there's a way to uninstall it without harming the functionality of ios 6, that would be great.

I found a workaround that puts podcasts back in the video app as well as the music app so you can watch them on TV via an AV cable again.
The instructions can be found at this video:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaI9GwPKXkE
    In short:
    1. Make sure both the music and podcast app aren't running on your iPhone.
    2. Plug your iPhone into your computer and disable Podcast syncing for your iPhone in iTunes.
    3. Remove the podcast app from your iPhone
    4. Plug your iPhone into your computer again and turn on podcast syncing, then sync.
    5. Turn off and then back on your iPhone.
After I did this, I found podcasts had returned to being listed in my music and video apps.
    Hope this helps you too!

  • IPhone 4 and Apple Component Cables do not work

I have an iPhone 4 and my Apple Component Cables no longer work.
I have had an iPhone 3G since July 2008, and a first gen iPod Touch. They both have and continue to work with the cables.
I have the Component cables hooked up to an Apple universal dock... it's been a great way to watch movies and TV shows on my bedroom TV, as the remote control works through the dock. I've become so accustomed to using it, I no longer even use a DVD player (all my media is digital). That's the main reason I upgraded to a 32Gb ip4. I have tried plugging the cables directly into my phone, rather than going through the dock, to no avail.
I am now on my second replacement iPhone 4, and the Genius at the Apple Store had the same issue with his demo unit. Oddly, the ip4 appears to work fine with the lower quality composite cables, but not at all with the HD compatible component cables. My question is, have any of you experienced the same problem? How is this not a bigger issue? (I can't find any threads about this issue), Am I the only person who uses his iPhone this way?
I have been in contact with Applecare. A nice rep has been trying to help me, but as of yet, has not been able to offer an answer. On the Apple Store, you can clearly see iPhone 4 listed as a compatible device for the cables.

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated

I know this is of absolutely no use to you at all but...
    Same here!
Paid nearly 40 quid (GBP) for the component video cable from apple, same for the universal dock!
Nothing, nada, nought... through my theatre system or direct into the TV.
Shame really, iPhone 4 latest patches, really BIG TV (latest, greatest everything input's) fairly simple theatre system (again, everything inputs) but no joy at all getting a picture (video) out of the component cable.
    Bah...
I read somewhere there could be a fault in the iPhone 4 OS, but I'd have thought that they would have fixed this by now!
    NOTHING WORKS!!!
This is not a good 40 quid value !!!
    Is there a solution?

  • IPod classic wont play 3rd party dvd player with apple composite cable

I want to play the videos in my iPod classic 120GB(MB526LL) on my Phillips DCP750 dvd player. I am using the Apple Composite cable which I brought in the spring of 2008 with the Apple Universal Dock (MB125G) and they will not play. When I tried to just use the cable with the Phillips I received the error message “ TV Out Enabled Please Connect Video Accessory “ so I brought the dock Using the dock I do not get the message. Instead the audio comes through the headphones on my iPod but no video on the dvd player nor on the iPod. I have the iPod settings to TV out, screen standard and PAL since I am in the UK. Is it possible that my cables are too old and do not have the chip that I have read about? Should I be using the component cable rather than the composite? I have tried to find the older firmware prior to 1.0.2 but can’t. Is it worth my while to make an appointment with my local Apple store and take cables, player, dock and iPod to the Genius bar? If anyone has had this problem and figured it out could they explain to me step by step what I should be doing. I hate the idea of having to spend more money on cables and will probably just continue to watch videos on the ipod or else on the Macbook if I can not figure out a work around.
    Thanks in advance.

I'm so frustrated that this new iMAC doesn't have a program to do this.
    Tell Apple:  http://www.apple.com/feedback/
IDVD is included with iLife 11 ON DISK.
For making movies there is no alternative or substitute for iDVD. (Buy it while you still can.)
I've tried Burn and Toast and many others, iDVD is by far the best.

For the best quality, I use iMovie 06 with iDVD 11.

  • Apple certified cable for AV RCA out and USB sync with BMW car's COMBOX

My recently purchased Apple certified cable for AV RCA out and USB sync works very well with the PC and TV. I bought it to connect to my BMW car's COMBOX interface which is designed to connect to Apple products.
It doesn't even power up and BMW fails to recognize iPod, same combox works well with the original usb sync cable which came with the iPod but that doesn't have AV out so can't play music and video to the head unit. I think this could be due to low power coming from the car's USB, am I right to think this? If yes what options have I got to fix this? Can I supply additional power to iPod?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
I'm afraid that's to be expected in most cases, you need to turn your TV speakers off.

  • My iphone 5 says its charging but it isn't. I have a Apple charger. The problem is sporadic. One day fine next day won't charge

My iphone 5 says its charging but it isn't. I have a Apple charger. The problem is sporadic.

    Hi gotwaxed,
If your iPhone is not charging while plugged into the wall adapter, then I'd like you to please follow the information outlined below to help resolve the issue.
    If the battery doesn’t charge
If the battery doesn’t charge, unplug your device and try these steps:
Look at the connector at the bottom of your device and make sure it’s free of debris.
If you're using a USB power adapter, make sure it's plugged in all the way and the power outlet is working. If you're connecting to a computer, make sure it's on and can charge your device. To charge an iPad, you might need to use a USB power adapter and plug into a power outlet.
Try a different USB cable, USB power adapter, or USB port.
If everything seems to be working, reconnect your device and wait for 30 minutes.
If your device still doesn’t charge, try to restart it while it's connected to power. If you can't restart, reset your device.
    Get more help
If your device still doesn't charge or you still see an alert after trying the steps above, contact Apple Support.

  • 2.2 update: Apple component cable not working

    Hi all,
Since updating to 2.1 (now updated to 2.2) I have been unable to get video out in my iPhone 2G.
I have Apple component AV cables which worked fine on 2.01 with both my TV and the projectors used at University (I use this in my lectures). Upgrading to 2.2 has not fixed the problem.
Annyhoo, once I plug them in I get the dreaded 'This device is not compatible etc...' message and all I get is audio. I have even had this warning when using the cable and the wall plug to recharge.
I have looked through Apple's Support site and several people have been having trouble with 3rd party cables but mine are Apple, came in the nice shiny (expensive) box 'n everything. Apple Support (US) definitely lists this cable as compatible with my iPhone.
Can anyone offer practical advice, or do I have to back to 2.01 to get this to work?

iPhone 2G, firmware 2.2, Apple composite cable. Still works.

  • Apple TV, browsing music on home sharing, music stored externally

I wonder if anyone can advise...
I recently bought a Seagate Central wifi external harddrive, 3TB. Besides using it as a remote backup disk, one of the main reasons behind it was combining music collections on my iMac and my wife's MacBook Pro. Advantages being we can listen to each other's music without having to have both computers on at the same time. Also, I'd like to use my new Apple TV to access my music via home sharing settings.
So I have combined our music files onto the Seagate. I have changed the iTunes Music folder on both computers so that it looks to the Seagate for all the media. I have then "re-imported" the songs into iTunes from there.
Running iTunes from the computers, this works 100% Ok, even sending via Airplay to Apple TV. The problems come when browsing through using the Apple TV home sharing on My Computers. The Apple TV sees all the albums and tracks as you would expect. But if you play a track it comes up with a message "there is no content".
The strange part is that if I go to the computer and play the track once, when I go back to Apple TV it will them recognise it and be able to play it!
I am trying to find a solution that doesn't involve me clicking through every track of my music collection! Any ideas?

    That seems strange.
Have you changed the itunes media folder location to the external drive?
    iTunes > Preferences >
Try changing to location to the external hard drive.. so your itunes music gets saved there
Also I'm not sure iTunes can work this way..
I've seen someone try to use a timecapsule the same way and it required them to manually connect to the drive in the finder, before being able to play their music.
Is there a password required when connecting to the drive?
