Apple Bluetooth Keyboard stopped working letters Q thru I.

My Apple Bluetooth Keyboard has stopped working on letters Q thru I.  Any suggestions.  Is it worth repair, or just buy new?

Sorry....I assumed that the KB was attached to a Mac
If you are near an Apple Store, you might take it in for testing.
From what you describe, I suspect the KB has failed.

  • Bluetooth keyboard stops working

My bluetooth keyboard stops working while I use Photoshop CS4. It happened 4 days ago. I called applecare and they asked that I take the keyboard into a dealer. Keypad worked at the dealer. Brought it home and it worked.
When I pair the keyboard to bluetooth the keyboard functions, but in all other applications it doesn't. I think it must be the computer an not the keyboard.

It's been a while but I am sure the issue lies with the bluetooth now. I did the SMC reset and the same issue only happened once since. This time I plugged in my logitech USB wireless mouse and it worked fine. I tried to disconnect my Apple bluetooth mouse and couldn't get it to connect again. I restarted the machine by clicking Apple->shut down->restart and when the computer restarted, neither the keyboard nor the mouse worked. I again used the Logitech wireless mouse to try to see my bluetooth setting. However I get the message of "bluetooth not available". I'm guessing my bluetooth unit in this new iMac isn't functioning properly. Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Apple wired keyboard stops working after iTunes sync

I have an imac running snow leopard.  When I sync old ipad, iphone 3gs or iphone 4, the wired keyboard stops working.  The only solution seems to be to turn the IMac off and turn on again.  Have tried resetting permissions with no success. Any ideas?

    Try resetting the NVRAM

Try another BK. Maybe a KB problem.
Try booting to Recovery and see if it works OK. Maybe a software problem with Yosemite

  • Bluetooth keyboard stops working when i plug in my iphone 5

    Hi All...
Heres a question from the twilight zone where strange things happen.
    My Hardware/Software used:
    - iMac OSX 10.9.2
    - Mac wireless Keyboard
    - Logitech mouse performance MX
    - iTunes 11.1.5 (5)
    - iPhone 5 v7.1 (11D167)
I plug in my iPhone via USB cable, and iTunes pops up.. it detects the iphone but not 100% as it just hangs... then out of nowhere, the keyboard stops working as it looses its connection, the only way to restore the connection is to reset the iMac.
    Any ideas?

  • After upgrading to 10.8.3 my Apple USB keyboard stops working after about 3 hours

    Mac Pro 3,1
    OS X 10.8.3 Server
    32GB RAM
Apple USB Keyboard works fine after reboot (typing on it now), stops responding after about 3 hours.
I see nothing in Console that looks like the culprit. Here is everything around the last time it happened - between 11:28 and 11:30 they keyboard just stopped working. Unplugging and re-plugging doesn't bring it back. Changing USB ports doesn't bring it back. Rebooting is the only thing that seems to work. Bluetooth keyboard works before and after.

    Everything worked fine in 10.8.2.

    Hey Doug,
Thanks for your post, and welcome to the Apple Support Communities.
I understand that your keyboard backlight is not working upon startup, the following may resolve your issue:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
After performing normal troubleshooting, these symptoms may indicate that an SMC reset may be necessary:
    Lights
The keyboard backlight appears to behave incorrectly (on Mac computers that have this feature).
You may also want to reset your computer's PRAM:
OS X Mountain Lion: Reset your computer’s PRAM

Note: Resetting PRAM may change some system settings and preferences. Use System Preferences to restore your settings.

  • Apple Bluetooth Keyboard not working with Macbook??

I copied this from a post on a reply earlier, but thought I'd start a new post and hope that someone has had a similar problem.
I have the new Apple wireless keyboard that doesn't work on my Macbook. Ironically, the only keys that do work are the top row. Screen brighten or dim, Dashboard, speaker volume control etc...
I've connected it and paired it successfully, but the keys just don't seem to work. (delete and arrow keys also work) After a while, my mighty mouse (wireless) start acting funny, or the track pad button on the laptop itself stops working. Shutting of the keyboard at this point doesn't help and I need to reboot the computer.
I've taken it to Fortune Tower in Bangkok where they have a apple support center and he couldn't get it to work on his 17" mac book pro either. He wanted me to leave it, but I took it back to the international departure terminal of the Bangkok international airport, (had to wait for another flight to China to do this) and returned it to the store where I bought it. But they wanted to see the problem and I showed them that it didn't work. Convinced, then then brought out a new one and I wanted to verify that IT worked but same exact problems.
I suggested that they connect it to another computer? Which they did, an Imac and it worked fine. Then they connected it to a Mac Book Pro, (15 inch) and it worked fine there as well.
Could this be a firmware update issue?
Anyone else having problems like this?
I just hope that this isn't a simple setting somewhere that I've overlooked... but I'll try anything at this point.
    thanks,

I have exactly the same problem! Macbook Pro 2GHz (so not a very recent one...), OS, firmware, etc updated to the latest. My Mac dealer proposed to do a clean installation of 10.5.2 - did not help. Apple Support told me to uninstall the keyboard and install it again (for more help they want money...) I did - same problem. Only function keys and cursor keys work. Funny thing - during pairing the code can be entered and recognized, but later no character cames through.
The keyboard is perfectly OK, since it works with my MacPro without any problems.
The mouse, on other hand, works nicely so far.
Maybe now will someone give us a wise advice?

  • Apple (wired) keyboard stopped working

    Hi everyone,
I bought a 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon "Nehalem" processor Mac Pro (model MC560LL/A) in April, 2011.
1 year and one month later (after the warranty expired, natch), the apple wired keyboard (MB110LL/B) that came with the computer stopped working. No stuck keys or repeating characters, just stopped working altogether.
I didn't drop the keyboard, or spill anything on it. As a matter of fact, I kept the keyboard clean with a cover. I tried the keyboard in every USB port, no dice. I've rebuilt permissions and zapped the PRAM, still no dice. I'm stuck using the clickety-clackety black keyboard from my G4.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Since it's been one month (and 2 weeks) out of warranty, should I still try to get Apple to replace it?
Thanks in advance for any help.
    p.s.- OS 10.6.8

OK, it looks like Christmas came early.
I called Apple (and spoke to a WONDERFUL service agent named Hannah), and she agreed to send me a replacement keyboard at no charge, even though the warranty on my non-working keyboard expired 38 days prior.
I was wanting to replace the wired keyboard that I have with another wired keyboard, because of the numeric pad. Unfortunately, Hannah informed me that Apple no longer sells the wired ones and that I would be getting a wireless keyboard as replacement. Bummer.
I ended up buying a new wired one, because I really need the numeric pad. I'll have to send the wireless one back. I feel awful that the good will was wasted. At least I left a glowing review for her and suggested that she get a raise!

  • Apple wired keyboard stopped working after Mac Pro SMC Firmware Update 2.0

After the update, my MacPro will not deetect/accept the keyboard. My old keyboard (White plastic) works, my new (approx 6 months) aluminum wired keyboard don't. Keyboard tested on other Macs - no problem there.
    Anybody know why/how to fix/have a solution?

SMC Reset and PRAM Reset are the conventional ways to deal with such problems.

  • Bluetooth and Built-in keyboards stop working randomly

While I've read several threads about the built-in keyboard on MBPs stop working I've never seen one quite like this.  We're on a late 2012 17" MBP, Core i7 with 4GB memory.  Randomly both the built-in keyboard on the machine AND the Bluetooth keyboard stop working - but not fully.  On both the arrow keys and backspace key still work but nothing else (CMD, space bar, etc).
What's really odd is a USB keyboard works perfectly when this happens.  We plugged one in and blamo, it worked just great - but the built-in and the bluetooth ones continued to not work (just as described above).
The user commented that this has been the case on her last 2 machines and both were built from scratch.  That leads me to think it's software rather than hardware - I went through everything that was running, shutting down everything I could - with no good results.  If you log out/back in (or reboot) that fixes the problem as well (further leading me to software)
    Thoughts anyone??
    Thanks!
    -Ross

  • Bluetooth keyboard not working.....power light flashes

    Hi everyone,
My iMac bluetooth keyboard stopped working on the weekend. The green light adjacent the keyboard's power switch started flashing rather than staying on. I replaced the batteries but that didn't seem to help. My bluetooth mouse is working fine. Has this happened to anyone?
    Cheers,
    Jeremy

Yes it has happened to me. Just added it to my long list of repairs. Do you have Applecare? In July, I had to have the logic board replaced. After the tech installed it, wham!!! Power supply was gone. Then it was the hard drive 3 weeks ago, after a few hundred bucks to get everything backed up then Lo-and-behold the keyboard over the last weekend. I called apple and then ran thru a few things. Like have you checked the batteries, try toggleing the on switch, unplug and replug it back in. After 10 minutes, the rep said "I can send you a new one." So if you do have Apple care, call and get a new keyboard. I just hope it is the keyboard and not the bluetooth.

  • Apple usb keyboard not working

hello, recently my apple usb keyboard stopped working.  the usb connections on the keyboard still work but the letter buttons do not do anything anymore.  is the keyboard fried or is this fixable?

I assume you tried another USB port and tried the KB on another computer. A pc will suffice for testing purposes.

  • Apple USB Keyboard not working when connected in Macbook PRO retina

I have this problem. When I connect my new Apple usb keyboard directly to the laptop it does work. Is there any way to solve this problem?
    BR

I just did the latest update and my Apple USB keyboard stopped working. The keyboard works fine with other computers and other keyboards work with my Macbook.
The keyboard ships with a three foot extension cable. I plugged the keyboard into the Macbook with this cable and now it's working fine. I think it has something to do with the USB port being 3.0. A USB hub may also solve the issue.

  • Bluetooth Keyboard not working on iMac after upgrading to 10.10.3

I upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.3 and my bluetooth keyboard stopped working after a while. iMac (Late 2012) sees it but don't want to pair. You can see it on screenshot (never mind Russian interface).
    I tried everything:
    a) resetting PRAM
    b) resetting SMC
    c) turning bluetooth on/off
    d) changing assumes in keyboard
    etc, etc...
    Nothing helps. Can somebody help?

    HI Michelle
i have the same problem Also using an iMac21 inch late 2012. Has been working perfectly until 10.10.3. Now when the iMac wakes from sleep neither the mouse or keyboard are connected. The only recourse is to force a hard restart with the power button.
i have tried all your above items and also to no avail. I have set sleep to wait indefinitely & that has resolved my issue. Albeit with an increase in energy use.
I Would be grateful if anybody had some tips on how to resolve this situation.
    thanks

  • Apple Bluetooth Keyboard under Windows

Guys I can't get the Apple Bluetooth Keyboard to work under windows when I start my MBP in XP...I can discover it and then it pairs with it, but in the end no key will work :/

    From Apple:
Are there any Macintosh features that I should not expect to work when running Windows XP on an Intel-based Macintosh computer?
Even after installling the Macintosh Drivers CD, the Apple Remote Control (IR), Apple Wireless (Bluetooth) keyboard or mouse, Apple USB Modem, MacBook Pro's sudden motion sensor, MacBook Pro's ambient light sensor, and built-in iSight camera will not function correctly when running Windows.
