Apple BT keyboard & mouse won't pair with PlayStation 3.

I have an Apple Bluetooth keyboard and mouse (mouse is the older single-button BT model). Neither one will pair with the PS3, with new BT keyboard/mouse support via 1.6 firmware update. When I go to register BT mouse/keyboard it sees them fine, sees their BT names, but then gets an error when trying to pair, on each device.
Normally I wouldn't post this in an Apple forum, but since they are Apple devices and they pair just fine with Windows PCs, I'm wondering if there's some way I need to force pairing mode or something to get this to work.
Any ideas offhand how to fix this?
Anyone with a PlayStation 3 gets this working with Apple keyboard/mouse, please post how you did it. I don't want to buy a separate BT keyboard and mouse kit for the PS3 when I already have these in great condition, seeing little use.

Sorry I missed this and didn't respond. If you can afford both, keep both. Even at this early stage, my preference overall, especially for the long term, is by quite some bit, the PS3 and it's games, many now and lots more in the coming year. Also, I think Blu-ray will eventually "win" the HD movie format battle, meaning some studios besides Sony Pictures may drop Blu-ray exclusive releases and release on both formats, and Universal will step off HD DVD exclusive releases and release on both formats, but Blu-ray eventually be the only format on which you can get everything. But for the short-term future you will have more game variety for your 360, so you might want to wait and save for the PS3, or trade at a later date if you can still get good value out of the trade.
Since this reply is ex post facto, it seems like the PS3 blew out the European and Australian launches. Quite a bit different than console's initial reception here in the States.

Keyboard(s) won't pair with ANYTHING

I'm at my wits' end. I have two Mac towers -- one is an Intel-based CPU and the other is a PPC-based CPU. They're both G5s.
So, I have two wireless keyboards. One is certified Apple, the other is generic, from China.
Neither of them can be coaxed to pair with EITHER COMPUTER.
I must mention that I have a Logitech wireless mouse. This requires a little USB dongle-thingy in order to operate. No problem -- I have no idea if the thing is Bluetooth-based or not. Quite frankly I know nothing whatsoever about Bluetooth. I just assumed that it would come with all Macintoshes after around 2005, but then I discover that no, you have to add Bluetooth to the computer. For the life of me, I can't figure this out, as the usual way of doing that is to get a tiny USB dongle, just like the one I have with my mouse, and voila! Bluetooth. If it's that tiny and so simple, why on earth isn't it just built into every computer? But I digress.
I bought a USB Bluetooth thingy (I don't know if it's a dongle or what to call it) -- a generic one, from China. I'm sure hoping there aren't "grades" of Bluetooth adapters, like one is better than another if it's gold-plated and has a certificate of authenticity from the Queen -- I would imagine NOT -- so I see no reason why this thing would not work. In fact, I remember it working in several instances -- with a wireless keyboard, I think, on one of these G5s. But now I don't remember what keyboard it was (I go through keyboards like others go through milk). I only know that no matter what I do, no matter how many new batteries I insert in the keyboards, no matter where I plug in the USB Bluetooth thingy (which I KNOW works, and is not just having a bad day), no matter how many times I dump the Bluetooth plist or restart the computers -- all I know is that neither keyboard pairs with either computer.
I get all the way to the keyboard being "discovered" -- great -- but then I either get a "Enter these numbers and then press enter to complete the pairing," and neither keyboard types anything, or I just get the spinning progress meter, then ultimately the error message "This keyboard could not be paired with this computer," or some other such message.
Life just can't be this complicated.
First off, is there some sort of Bluetooth apparatus that I can buy that is GUARANTEED to work? I mean, I'm sure that a $45 Kingston Tevchnologies Bluetooth USB adapter would PROBABLY be more reliable than a Chinese no-name $2.50 USB adapter, but I need to know that this thing is going to work for SURE.
I've already spent an hour today metaphorically banging my head against a hard surface trying to get this to work, but no luck. I've tried almost all the suggestions in the posts that have gone before about this issue, but nothing at all has worked so far. At this point, Bluetooth is no longer even showing up in my System Preferences, and even though the USB adapter is in the USB slot my "Get info" says I have no Bluetooth.
*sigh* . . . . reminds me of System 7 and a frozen screen. Norton Utilities always came to the rescue . . .

1. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn off Bluetooth on the device.
2. Hold Power button of your keyboard until the light stops blinking.
3. On the Mac, go to System Preferences > Keyboard > Set Up Bluetooth Keyboard.
4. Turn on the keyboard. If it doesn't connect to the Mac, press any key of the wireless keyboard.
5. When the keyboard appears on your Mac, choose Continue

Wireless Keyboard 2011 won't pair with iPad 2

I have an aluminuim wireless keyboard 2011 which was paired successfully with my iPad 2 (with all recent software updates).
I now can't pair it at all. Here are some details:
1. The keyboard has never been paired with anything else.
2. The keyboard goes into discovery mode (green light flashing) - but won't stop flashing, even when the silver button on the side to the right is held for more than 10secs (or even 1min!)..... so the only way to turn it off is to take the batteries out.
3. The batteries are fine.
4. The iPad searches, but doesn't find the keyboard - there are no other devices listed either.
5. Because there are no devices listed, I can't 'unpair' the keyboard - that's if it's still paired somehow in the ipad's internal brain!
6. The one time it did find it, and I tried to pair - a message came up saying I should make sure the device was turned on and that pairing was unsuccessful. This was whilst the green light continued to flash.
7. I've tried doing this in all sorts of orders: search first, then put batteries back into keyboard (light flashes); keyboard ready to go, then turn bluetooth on and search; search holding silver button on keyboard down the whole time, etc.
8. Yes - I've powered down the iPad and turned it back on again! :-P
I've tried anything I've found doing an online troubleshooting search - but nothing has worked. So far I've spent three hours on this.
There's no Apple Store near me.
Help?

In the end I had to travel an hour by train to get to an Apple Store.
After doing a complete reset on the iPad the keyboard now works. But I had to reconfigure it as a new iPad, rather than restore the backup - in case whatever caused the problem is put back onto the iPad. Which meant I could only sync apps that had their own accounts (like Evernote). I've lost all the photos, notes, Good Reader & Pages documents. :-( Wish I'd never bothered with the wireless keyboard.
And still no idea what caused the problem in the first place. So now I'll save everything that's important separately, rather than through the iCloud backup.

This is not an isolated problem however, I've read alot of other people with this same situation going on, so I think I'm going to try putting snow-leopard on this thing and see if I can narrow it down to an oversight/bug w/os x 10.7.2.
Ok, I'm confused. Did you intend to say you are going to try to put lion 10.7.0, or 10.7.1? The reason I ask is that if yours is a new machine that came with lion, then from what I read you cannot install a version of the OS earlier than what was originally installed on your machine. Check some of the hits on this google search.

Apple keyboard won't pair with any devices

I just cleaned my niece's apple wireless keyboard using the mister clean magic eraser. I did not removed the batteries in doing so. What happened was the keyboard did not interact properly with the mac that it was connected to. Now I've tried replacing the battery with a new one. I tried pairing this keyboard to my iPad air and macbook pro. It won't pair with both devices. When I tried putting in the numbers that the computer gives me there's a delayed response. Is they keyboard broke. Apple should've placed a reset button on the keyboard. I don't know what to do.

i just used the mr. clean magic eraser. it's a sponge that you use to wipe out the dirt. it did a good. I just didn't remove the batteries or the KB was on at that time so the LED indicator was blinking. When I was done cleaning my niece notice that it wouldn't funciton properly. I tried pairing it again. I followed that step were you had to hold the power button for 6 seconds to reset it. It still did not pair. I tried pairing it to my mac and ipad air. It won't pair at all. Whenever I type in the code to pair it. It would stop pairing at the first number that I typed. So I don't know what to do next. Apple should've placed a small reset button to reset the whole KB.

I have same results. I have an ipad mini and it will not pair with my apple keyboard. I bought a mini keyboard with bluetooth 3.0 and it will not pair either. Is my ipad defective? Or do i need a keyboard with bluetooth 4.0? Also - the mini keypad will pair with my ipad2 and my iphone 4. Only difference I can find is the ipad mini has bluetooth 4.0. Seems it should be downward compatible but maybe not.. I am not a blutooth expert!

The batteries are fine, and it will not pair with my wife's MacBook either.

iPhones and Macbooks cannot pair to each other except for internet sharing.
Most Bluetooth operations between them (like Airdrop) do not require they be paired.
What exactly are you attempting to do by pairing them?

Apple Wireless Mouse - No Longer Pairs with Mac Mini?

Hi there,
I've had an Apple Wireless Keyboard and an Apple Wireless Mouse for several months. Unfortunately, the Apple Wireless Mouse no longer pairs with the Mac Mini (Core Duo, 1.66) -- it is getting very frustrating.
I've tried rebooting the machine, restarting the mouse, and nothing works. Sometimes I get the Bluetooth Setup Assistant which says that it found 1 Mouse, but it failed to pair.
I replaced the batteries, but nothing changes.
Help!

Normally that's caused by debris under the trackball preventing the rollers from moving. Turn the mouse upside down and rub the trackball Vigorously with a microfiber cloth.
The symptoms are usually that scroll will work one direction but not the other.

Macbook Pro won't pair with my existing Bluetooth Mouse.

I used a bluetooth mouse with my macbook pro and had no problems. Since the lastest Mountain Lion Updapte (10.8.2), the laptop finds the mouse but the pairing with the device doesn't work. I've changed the batteries and restarted the laptop several times. Any suggestions other than buying a new bluetooth mouse?

I just lost my Wireless kbd Bluetooth connection twice recently. And found the following solution:
1. Delete the kbd from Bluetooth system prefs.
2. Shut down the kbd
3. In system prefs, keyboard choose "Configure Bluetooth keyboard..." at the bottom
4. Press the power button on the kbd until the green LED blinks, kbd gets detected
5. Switch OFF the kbd
6. Click "Continue"
7. Power on the kbd as described in 4.
8. Kbd gets paired, enter the digit code and Enter
9. Go to system prefs, Bluetooth and add the kbd as a favorite
That did it for me. Hope it works for you, too.
