Apple built-in apps crashing

I am having problems with my built-in iPhone apps.  None of these problems happen with my non-Apple apps.  My iPhone music app won't sync with my computer -- I make changes to playlists on my computer that won't sync with my iPhone.  When I try to make changes to playlists on my iPhone, it crashes.  Every. Single. Time.  It also shows the wrong artwork with songs.  My reminders app won't work either.  It crashes every time I try to change an entry, and today I can't even get the app to open.  I've restarted my phone dozens of times in the last few days.  Is there an iOs update coming up?!?!?  Please help!!

Try:
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Built-in apps crashing on 5S with IOS 7.0.1

Are others experiencing frequent crashing of the Apple built-in apps?
This is a brandy spanking new 5S (32GB), upgraded to 7.0.1. And I'm seeing lots of crashing.
In the past hour, the "Settings" app crashed, as did the "Calendar" app.
We're not talking about third party stuff here. This is all on Apple.
    What gives?

Did you restore from a backup of an older model phone?

  • Built in app crashes

    A built-in app crashes on my iPod4. (iOS6.1.6) What can i do?

If you can sign out of that app in setting try that.
    What app is it?
If the reset does not work
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

  • Apps crashing, can't send problem to apple, software update app crashes....

I came back after a two month summer vacation (I unplugged the computer while I was away) and I went to update the software and then the software update app crashed. I tried to report the problem to apple, but it says that the submission failed, "your report could not be sent to apple, please try again later"
I then tried to sync my iPhone, and iTunes crashed, so I tried to report the problem, and I got the same error. So I un-installed iTunes, but when I emptied the trash it said that "iTunesHelper" was in-use, so I couldn't. But then I tried to restore iTunes by taking it out of the trash, and when I tried to open it, it said that it wasn't supported on that architecture.
I restarted the computer, but the problems won't go away. Firefox works fine...'
    UPDATE: Safari crashes too...
    System preferences works...
    Garage Band: Crash!
    iPhoto: Crash!
    MS Word: Works...
    World of Warcraft: Crash!
I am guessing that my problem has something to do with insufficient memory or something like that? I'm not sure...
About my computer: iMac7,1, running Mac OS X 10.5.7
    @GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    3GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Any help is appreciated, I guess my best bet is to go to the Apple store or tek-serve.

Those weeks of sitting idle did not help the Mac as a vacation should!
Try repairing the disk permissions. At best do an Archive and Install. This will install a new Mac OS X, archive the old system, which you will later drag & drop to the Trash and flush away, and preserve your data and user accounts and settings. You can do this with your Restore DVD. Read all onscreen instructions and check the correct boxes to preserve your data and settings.
At worst, backup all your data and Erase and Install. Write zeros to the HDD and any bad sectors that exist will be locked out on the drive and no longer used. This is also done from the Restore DVD. After installing Mac OS X import your backed up data and begin anew.

  • OSX Yosemite suddenly all Apple built in apps get "Quit Unexpectedly"

Today suddenly all my apple apps (mail, messages, calendar, etc all produce a message like "XXXX quit unexpectedly" where XXXX is the app name). The error log contains "Exception Type: EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION (SIGILL)". Options OK and Reopen simply return the same screen.  Apps NOT in built-in OS X apps work fine.  Well, Safari works but it's the only one.  When I try to examine Preferences I get Preferences Error "Could not load internet accounts preferences page".
I've tried rebooting, restarting in safe mode, same results.  It's like a catastrophic failure somewhere.  My Time Machine backup from several days ago produces the same results.  I ran the Disk Utility, checked permissions, all OK.
iMac is mid- 2011 27" running Yosemite 10.10.  Worked perfectly until 5pm today 11/13.
    Any ideas?

Back up all data before proceeding.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    sudo find ~ $TMPDIR.. -exec chflags -h nouchg,nouappnd,noschg,nosappnd {} + -exec chown -h $UID {} + -exec chmod +rw {} + -exec chmod -h -N {} + -type d -exec chmod -h +x {} + 2>&-
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take several minutes to run, depending on how many files you have. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
              Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open. In that window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
               ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • Since updated to iOS 5, iPod touch works a bit slow, built-in apps crash and so on...

I had my iPod touch 4th generation 32GB for almost a year, and since I've updated it's software to iOS 5, apps started to crash more often, mostly Settings, Messages, Photos and Safari (I uses these apps the most). Also, the iPod started to work slowlier — when I unlock it and the music app is open it takes serval seconds until it really unlocks, an I'm typing right now the iPod "freezes" for two seconds about every minute — I keep typing and all the letters I typed appear at once, after I quit a heavy app the cool "apple style" homescreen effects aren't smooth, the Notification Center sometimes opens only after about two seconds, and three or four times since the software update the whole iPod crashed and reseted itself, mostly under some pressure (not physical). I turn the iPod off and on every two-three weeks, and I have about 10GB of free space. What should I do? wait for the next software update? Restore it? Format it? Replace it?
    Thanks for helping!

    - The slowness from the lock-screen is normal.
For the other problems I would try:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • Yosemite Apple apps crashing

I have a problem in Yosemite where many but not all Apple apps crash when launched. This only happens for one user and includes Messages, Pages, Dictionary, Notes, and Text Edit among others. Not effected are Mail and Safari. There is also a problem selecting iCloud apps for that user in System Preference where I can't get some selections to stick. Other users are fine.
I have tried various methods for reseting permissions for that user Home folder including Terminal commands while logged in as that user and as Root. Also did the ACL reset from root > Utilities.
It seems to be a problem outside of that user's Home folder. I haven't tried deleting and recreating that user account.
Below is the beggining of the error message I get when launching the problem apps. I can't post the complete error message if anyone is interested.

  • Multiple apple apps crashing after upgrading HD on MBP

So I manually upgraded my hard drive today on my Macbook Pro (Santa Rosa mid 2007) to a Hitachi travelstar 500gb SATA, 7200 rpm drive. I restored the new drive using my last time machine backup.
    I am running 10.6.2.
Since then, I notice multiple apps crash when attempting to open them. So far, I've noticed this includes Safari (nightly Webkit works fine), Mail, and Software Update. I cannot open any of these programs. I have no idea why this is happening, any advice and help is greatly appreciated!

  • IOS 6.1 Updating Crashing (Adobe Built) Newsstand Apps

    Hello,
Wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing this problem.  I updated to iOS 6 last night and everything appeared to go smooth.  Today, when I attempted to read Men's Health offline, I get the splash screen, and then the app crashes.  I noticed the same with any Magazine app that was built on the Adobe platform.  GQ, Wired, Men's Health, Fast Company Bon App......All get to the splash page, then it crashes back to the homescreen.
When I am connected to WIFI I am able to access the apps and all previously downloaded content with no issues.  I exclusivly read most of my downloaded magazine content offline so this is quite the problem for me.  I also tried numerous fixes with no luck - soft restarted iPad, Hard restarted iPad, tried leaving the issue/app open when going offline......all have still produced crashing  the app when I am not on wifi.
I'd rather not, but is there anything else I should try before trying to reset the entire ipad for a clean set up?  Anyone else experiencing this?

This bug affects all Newsstand magazine Apps using the Adobe Reader v24. Adobe has acknowledged the problem but there's little the publishers can do until either Adobe issues a fix (which will mean resubmitting Apps through Apple, which can take several weeks) or Apple issues a fix for 6.1.
All the major magazine publishers are affected: Conde Nast, Bauer, Meredith, Hearst. The majority of US Time Inc. titles aren't affected.
Apps work fine if connected via wifi or 3G - offline though doesn't even start loading. Big problem for Apple and Adobe.

  • Why are several Apple apps crashing after update to IOS5? Safari, Appstore and iBooks all crash Frequently :-(

Sine I updated to IOS 5.0.1 my iPad(version 1) crashes quite often.
Especially when using Safari, Ibooks and Appstore.
It is quite frustrating and I have  feeling that there are memory leaks.
Would be good to know if Apple are working on these problems.

Well, I have an iPad 2 3G 32GB end I can say ios 5 is PERFECT, really never seen an appstore app crashing!(200 apps + games installed), the only system app crashing sometimes is Safari, very rarely.
Os works very fast, notification center is awsome, the battery is good.
    Its perfect!
iOS 5 on the iPad 1 of ipad different story, AppStore apps crashing all the time, settings apps crashing, reminders crashing. bad Battery 3-4 h! VERY slow.Rubbish!
I guess what I'm trying to say is, the old ipad its slow end crashes, and so, if you want better, you upgrade.

  • Asking for apple ID password constantly & Crashing apps

    iOS 8.2, 6 Plus 64g
Since the 8.2 update, I have had issues with apps crashing pretty consistently, including Safari.  Also, I am being prompted to enter my apple ID password about 30 times a day.  It happens at random times, unlocking the phone, surfing Safari, etc.  It's just asking for password, and not even finger print ID.  I live about two hours from the nearest city & Apple Store, so I would like to avoid a Genius Bar appt if able to.
I can do the obviously and set up as a new device, but I would like to avoid that if there is a simple fix.
I am also having the problems everyone else is with cell service being terrible, unable to connect Bluetooth, and WiFi problems.  I am constantly having to reset my network settings.  Apple - Please give us a new update that actually fixes these issues soon!  Any help would be appreciated!

I'm afraid, setting it back to factory settings, without using any backup data afterwards, is the only way to make sure that this is not software related.
Set up the rest of the personal settings manually and test the phone.
If it is working after that, restore from the latest backup again. If not, contact Apple or an Authorized Apple Service Provider to get it checked.

so i went yesterday to the apple store and they told me my battery was dying because i had apps crashing so i had to reset the phone. how do i do this?

Your post doesn't really make sense, because if all you had to do was reset the iPhone, they would have helped you do that at the Apple Store.
Are you sure "reset" is the correct verb - that "reset" is exactly what they told you to do?
Anyway, you reset the iPhone by holding the home and on/off buttons together for about 10 seconds till the Apple logo appears.
