Apple Calendar Opening Incorrect Email Client

Hi everyone,
I've been running into an interesting issue.  I've created a number of events in Calendar by using the Quick Look feature (i.e. hovering over a date and time in an email) in Apple Mail.  The event is created correctly with a supposed link back to the original email for reference.
However, the link does not work.  Rather than returning me to Mail and opening the original email, the link opens another email client (Sparrow, in this case) which then states that it is unable to find the email.  This makes sense as these two email applications do not have the same email accounts in them.  One is used for work (Mail) and the other is for personal correspondence (Sparrow).  Further testing has revealed that no matter how you add an email attachment to an event, whether via Quick Look or by dragging and dropping the email from Apple Mail into an event on Apple Calendar, subsequent clicking on that attachment link will take you to the incorrect email client (Sparrow).
I have set the default email reader to be "Mail" in the Apple Mail application as well as disabling Sparrow as the default email reader in its application preferences.
I am running Yosemite, 10.10 (14A389) on a Late 2010 MacBook Air (1.86Ghz Core 2 Duo) as well as Mavericks on an old Mac Pro (Early 2008 version, I think).  Both machines exhibit the problem.
Any thoughts?
Ryan

  • Firefox will not open my email client when I click on a "mailto" link on any website. How can I fix this.

    Anytime I drag my cursor across, or try to click on a "mailto" email link on any webpage, it will display an incorrect e-mail address (it seems to default to one in particular). It will not open a new e-mail window and if I "copy e-mail address" it's the wrong one. I've tried everything and was hoping with new updates the problem would solve itself but obviously it hasn't.
    HELP ! This is driving me CRAZY

    For the settings to check to ensure that Firefox opens your email client, see [[changing the e-mail program used by Firefox]]. I don't know why it shows the wrong email address.

    And your Java question is?Relax, Thunderbird is written (predominantly) in Java.What? No! It isn't! Why do you think so?
    Thunderbird is based on XULRunner, which is a lot of C++. And Thunderbird itself is a mix of C++, JavaScript and XUL.

  • When opening the email client on my iPad3 I occasionally receive a dialog box that states "the user name or password or user name for Bellsouth are incorrect".  This condition usually lasts for 2 or 3 days.

    I am using the correct user name and password as I can access email via the web.  This situation is on all email clients except the web, ie; Outlook and iPhone also.

  • "invite participants" opens golive as email client...????

    I'm on a Dual PowerPC G5 running leopard 10.5 2 and I see no
    preferences to set email client. I called adobe connect
    support...they started quoting $ for support packages...???
    Yikes...any ideas out there??? My default email client is
    entourage. I changed default to apple mail just to see if it would
    work and it did not. I do have my system set to open html files in
    golive (for editing) but that should not interfere with an email
    client app.
    Thanks in advance!

    OK....i just tried setting OS to open html in firefox instead
    of golive. It works: adobe connect now open my email client. But,
    reversed it and it still does it....???? Oh well....will try it the
    other way for a while.
    Thanks for your help!!!

  • How can I create a button to open email client and allow the user to e-mail pdf to a friend?

    I need to find a way to let our members share our marketing pdf files with their friends as an email attachment. I can only seem to find a way to send a mailto to a specific address. I am thinking that the form is the only way to create that possibility, but would be open to any help even if not by a form.

    Thanks you but I want the end user to be able to open my pdf file from my website and email it as an attachment to their family and friends. ( no specific email address assigned) I tried adding a empty mailto tag and it opens the email client, but no attachment. I don't think I am making my question understandable and maybe it is not possible to do this in Acrobat.

  • Why does email hypertext in PDF open web browser window in addition to email client?

    Using FrameMaker 10, I created the following hypertext: message URL mailto:[email protected] I then printed to PDF. When I click the link in the PDF it opens an email client message window (what I want) but also opens a web browser window with mailto:[email protected] in the address bar (what I don't want). Why would it open both? I don't know if this is a Frame issue (more likely), an Acrobat issue (less likely), or a browser issue (not likely). I hope I'm just missing something easy here.

    Should have given the following info earlier...running Win 7 64-bit with Outlook 2010 and Acrobat X Pro. That being said the path to verify "mailto" is different but it is set up fine. Same with Acrobat X Pro...settings are fine.
    Also, in reply to Harry28586 this is happening with Firefox, not IE (I should have mentioned that as well).
    I've found plenty of threads searching online regarding issues with email links in Acrobat on Win 7 machines with Outlook...many suggest editing the registry. I have no problem doing that but this is a work laptop and we have a don't-fix-it-yourself policy. So I'll keep looking. Thanks for all the suggestions.

  • Once signed, how can I automatically have an email client open with the document attached?

    I have seen other forms simply open the email client once the user has signed the form, but I am unable to figure out how to do this :/
    Thanks,
    Wayne

    If you set up a digital signature field, you can attach a script (e.g., doc.submitForm, doc.mailDoc) to the "Signed" event.

  • Problems opening .ics files in Apple Calendar

    When I open an event invitation  that arrives as a .ics file, Apple Calendar opens but on the wrong day, at the wrong time, and with the wrong information.
    Is there anyway of fixing this?
    Im running OS 10.8.5 on a MacBook Air.
    Many thanks

    Most likely you need to update your camera raw plugin to version 6.2
    windows:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4807
    mac (6.2 only works in the elements editor and not bridge, 5.7 for bridge)

    How can I open a email client say microsoft outlook or thunderbird  ( i think its like opening any application in local system) when a button is clicked in flex ?

    On button click event do following:
    private function clickHandler(): void
    var req:URLRequest = new URLRequest("mailto:[email protected]");
    navigateToURL(req);
    It will open outlook client if configured.

  • Open email client and use HTML link

    How does one open an email client and embed a body with HTML, so links will work.
    I have tried:
    var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("mailto:[email protected]?subject=some subject Results"+"&body="+"<A=href=3Dhttp://www.somelink.com</A>"
    navigateToURL(request, "_self");
    This is not to be sent to a php page, but load the user's Email Client.

    Using URL notation to specify an emails contents you can't force a user to use rich text. Some have their clients to default to plain text. Therefore it will just show the HTML. There is no guaranteed way to achieve this.
    If the user has rich text set as default a link being injected typically auto-links anyhow. You may not SEE it as a hyperlink but send the email and the receiving users computer should see it as a hyperlink.
    So try:
    var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("mailto:[email protected]?subject=some subject Results&body=http://www.somelink.com");
    Then send that email to yourself. You should see it appear as a hyperlink automatically, as long as you have rich text mode enabled. Otherwise no matter what you send a plain text user will never see your hyperlink anyhow as it strips HTML out.

  • Form distribution error with email client

    Hi All-
      I have an extremely frustrating problem.  I have designed a form in LiveCycle ES 8.2.1 for users to fill out and submit via xml.  I would like to use Acrobat Pro 9.1.0 to track and collect responses from this form.  When I test the original form, the submit button works perfectly and it opens my email client (Groupwise) attaches the xml and populates the To, Subject, and Body fields perfectly.
    The problem comes when I try to use Acrobat to distribute and track the forms.  It creates a filed called 'form_distributed' that adds a bunch of code that completely screws up my form submission.  When the form_distributed is filled out, and the user clicks the submit button, Groupwise is invoked, but I get a 'Check Names' dialog box that states
    "Windows Messaging does not recognize "1. Double-click the attachment".
    After I click cancel on that dialog box, the JavaScript Debugger shows:
    Exception in line 63 of function top_level, script XFA:form1[0]:p1[0]:Button1[0]:click
    RaiseError: One of the specified recipients is not resolvable.
    Doc.submitForm:63:XFA:form1[0]:p1[0]:Button1[0]:click
    ===> One of the specified recipients is not resolvable.
    The distributed version has this extra code inserted
    < script contentType="application/x-javascript">//@@SUBMITURL "mailto:[email protected]?subject=Submitting Completed Form&amp;body=Instructions to add this form to a responses file:\n1. Double-click the attachment.\n2. Acrobat will prompt you to select a responses file.&amp;ui=false"&#xD;
    and further down....
    // submit the form&#xD;
    if (bContinue) {&#xD;
        var rawURL = "[email protected]?subject=Submitting Completed Form&amp;body=Instructions to add this form to a responses file:\n1. Double-click the attachment.\n2. Acrobat will prompt you to select a responses file.&amp;ui=false";&#xD;
        var submitURL;&#xD;
        if (app.viewerVersion &lt; 9.0)&#xD;
            submitURL = "mailto:" + rawURL;&#xD;
        else&#xD;
            submitURL = "mailto:" + escape(rawURL);&#xD;
        currentDoc.submitForm({&#xD;
            cURL: submitURL,&#xD;
            cSubmitAs: "PDF"&#xD;
        });&#xD;
    }&#xD;
    Are these lines of code always inserted when the form is distributed?
    How can I distribute and track these responses?
    It seems to be reading
    "[email protected]?subject=Submitting Completed Form&amp;body=Instructions to add this form to a responses file:\n"
    as the first email address and then getting hung up on the body and interpreting it as an incomplete email address.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Is this in the wrong forum?  The problem I am having is with Acrobat's Distribution feature.

  • Typeahead of emnail adresses doesn't work any more in the "To" field of the email client

    Dear all,
    I have a 8810, using the current OS. When I open the eMail client I was used that the search for eMail adresses or names from the adressbook was narrowed with each new letter being typed in.
    Now it only recognizes the first letter and I have to choos with the trackball manually - Very frustating
    I am sure the problem is not in the BB but in front of it. Nevertheless I couln't find an option how to change that.
    PLEASE HELP ! ! !

  • I emailed my Outlook calendar to myself and opened it on the iPhone, I accepted all appointments to the apple calendar, they show fine on the iPhone but do not sync to all other devices, why?

    I use Outlook at work, I email the next week's calendar to my iPhone.  I then open the email in apple mail on my iPhone and click "accept all", which populates all events onto my apple calendar.  All good so far.  Now I open my iPad, mac etc and the events are never sync'd over.  I test by creating new test events on iPhone and iPad and Mac and they all are able to create events that instantly sync to all other devices, cool.  If I open an event on the iPhone that was pulled in from the emailed Outlook calendar, and then hit edit then save, magically it shows up on all devices.  But that is for that event only.  The Outlook calendar I sent and accepted into the iPhone calendar had 35 events, it is too cumbersome to open each and hit edit/save so that they will all sync to all apple calendars on my various devices.  Help!

    You should be able to set up numerous IMAP accounts on your iPhone with no problems.
    IMAP will not sync contacts and calendars in your local copy of Outlook.
