Apple Care bought in US and then moved to UK
I am moving to the UK (Scotland) and not sure if I should buy Apple Care for my iPhone - will it be honored in the UK after I move?? Should (can I) buy it the UK for a US phone??

US Apple Care only good for Products you bought in USA.
So if you buy a USA iPhone and APP for USA iPhone. it is only good for iPhone in USA.
UK iPhone is totally separate and to my knowledge can not be exchanged.
Applecare is tied to the product you bought it for and not transferable to any other product of the same type or even different type.

Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always. -

i set up my new computer using the apple ID i always use, and then later migrated all my files from my old mac book to the same new one, but under a different user (same apple ID). how do i consolidate the two users on my new mac book?
Well if you use the Finder Go menu to Computer, a window opens up double click on your boot drive and then on Users folder, open the other user folder and open Public and drop your files into DropBox
When you do this it will copy them and change the permissions and user assigned to it, so log into the other user and place them into your respective normal folders.
Once you have all your files over and don't need the old user, use System Preferences > Accounts to delete it if you wish, however it's good two Admin accounts on the machine in case something bad happens in the other. Some people for security reasons on use a Standard account for most uses and a emergency Admin account.
One can still do most Admin things in Standard user. -
I have photos on my iPad (the first apple device in our household) and then added an iMac and a Macbook air to our network. We have an airport 2TB back up device. How do I get all of my photos on all devices. My original iPad has images that my 2 newer devices do not have on iphoto.

How are the images stored on your original iPad? Are they in the camera roll, in events downloaded using the camera connection kit, or are they in albums synced to your ipad from a computer?
If the photos are in the camera roll or in events downloaded from a camera, you can transfer them to your iMac and MBA by directly connecting the iPad using USB. Then you can download the photos to iPhoto like from a camera.
Only, if your photos have been synced to the iPad from a computer, you will have to save them first to the camera roll; then you can download them by connecting the iPad via USB.
What IOS version has your iPad?
For new photos you might consider using Photo Stream to transfer your photos between the devices.

Holding down the control key will invoke "right-click."
Depending on the View, holding down Shift will with either toggle the selection (Icon View), or it will make a continuous selection from the previous selection (List View or Column View).
The only way to make a continuous selection in Icon View is to drag out a selection marquee around or through the icons.
I can't remember the behavior of previous OS's. -
My iphone 4 randmonly started going into recoveery mode when i was trying to download ios 7.1, and now the apple logo will come one and then fade to black and continue this process. My iphone wont restore either and will get the 3194 error message.Help please!

From what I have read in the past, because India has no formal Apple stores and relies on a re-seller system that hardly justifies the name, getting warranty service is difficult. Those who sell Apple products tend only to service the products they have sold. If you import a Mac, for example, the value of the international warranty appears to be at the whim of these re-sellers and I have seen many examples where they simply delay any service almost indefinitely. All you can do is make a nuisance of yourself with Apple's head office and hope they will put pressure on these errant sellers.
The problem, it appears, is that the Indian government will not allow foreign companies to hold a controlling interest (or more than 50 %) of the shares ... as a result, I read, Apple will not open their own stores. -
My iMac turns on the start up chime sounds, you see the apple icon on the screen and then it just shuts off. Any ideas?

SMC RESET

Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
The 5 second timing is important to a successful reset.

Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys. -

Apple updates start to download and then stop inexplicably after about 4,7Mb with message download server unavailable or download file can not be read. This is a recent problem on my Macbook Pro.
Any ideas?Your problem is that everyone seems to be using the same iTunes store account (ID). That's fine when a family wants to share purchased items, but that's the rub - everyone is tapping into the same account, so they can download whatever is available.
As for icloud accounts, icloud is designed for single user use. If multiple users share the same icloud account then all their devices will be synced together - same emails, same contacts and calendars, same notes, etc. There is no privacy or division of data in this scenario. The usual advice is for everyone to have their own ID for icloud, and share the family ID for iTunes store. -

Welcome to Apple discussions.
Your post was hard to follow, but, for openers, very few people should EVER use terminal commands. As you have found out, you can screw a system up badly.
So much for the lecture.
OS X requires a system administrator password when anyone tries to install software that will affect the operating system. This is an Apple security feature that keeps people from, hopefully, doing dumb things to their system.
You cannot use a "friends" disk on a system that differs from your own.
Bottom line, you need to reinstall the operating system (whatever came with the system). If it is OS X 10.5, you could do an archive and install.
There is no way that I know of to undo the damage caused by entering the arcane terminal commands.

Bought a Movie and then my ipad restored on its own when I was trying to sync it and now gone. Itunes won't let me re-buy it because they know I already bought it but I still cant view it or find it any where
Also, I bought another movie and sync my ipad with my computer, its on my computer but can't find it on my ipadHi, my iPad said its downloaded but I cannot find it... I have a ton of apps on the iPhone and had no trouble downloading the movie... I found it in my Playlists... Maybe the iPad the movie somewhere, but I'm not familiar.. Could not find playlists...

The AppleCare extended warranty for any Apple product is provided and honored by Apple and Apple only.
If your iPhone was purchased in your country and Apple does not provide/support the AppleCare extended warranty for the iPhone in your country, you can't register your iPhone for the AppleCare extended warranty based in another country.
If you know a place in Finland that will do this and work around laws and regulations for an extended warranty in a particular country, have the place you know in Finland get your iPhone registered for the AppleCare extended warranty for an iPhone sold in another county, which will be honored by Apple and Apple only in the country for an iPhone that was sold officially by Apple in that country.
You've wasted your money.
