Apple care plan

  Other OS

If you have an AMEX card use that and it will come with lost, stolen, damaged protection automatically. Other cards offer these services too I suppose. Further, your homeowner's or renter's policy will likely cover this. However, the AppleCare protection plan does not.
The plans from Dell are in my opinion a better deal and offer more coverage, but I don't plan on buying a Dell, ever, regardless of their service coverage.

  • Apple Care plan for MBP

Does anyone know why the Apple care plan for MBP is more expensive than all the other Apple care plans? Even the Mac Pro has a cheaper plan. It doesn't make sense to me.

It's obvious to me. My Mac Pro sits in one place, undisturbed. It has a generous, efficient cooling system. It's easy to service.
My MacBook Pro is carried around town. It's jostled back and forth in my bag as I walk, or as my car goes over bumps. I'm always putting it on tables, creating a slight impact each time. It goes through a lot more power/temperature cycles as it sleeps and wakes. The components are smaller, tightly packed, more expensive to disassemble and service. A laptop goes through a lot more stress and trauma than a desktop, so a laptop is much more prone to failure.

  • Macbook pro batterie vs apple care plan

Is the batterie of a macbook pro covered by the apple care plan???

Yes, the same as any other hardware component of your Mac.
It's best to contact AppleCare itself, directly, for questions like this. Especially if you have a problem. The worst thing that will happen if you call AppleCare during your warranty period is that they will claim your specific problem is not covered.

  • Transfer Apple Care Plan

I've been on pre-order for an iPad with Apple Care Plan since they Apple were accepting pre-orders in Australia but still haven't received my iPad (it is still showing as Ships by 7 June). I've received the Care Plan (???) but no iPad and now have the opportunity to purchase one from a reseller tomorrow.
So before I make the decision, I want to know if I cancel my pre-order for the iPad with Apple and go with the reseller option, can I transfer the Care Plan across to the model I actually purchase?

    arcanedevice,
You could attempt to contact Apple - Support - Contacting Apple Support and Customer Service - Phone Contacts using the number listed for Australia.
Another helpful link may be Apple - Support - AppleCare.
    Cheers.

  • Once you pre order, how do I get the apple care plan

    Hi,
I got my pre order done, but didn't see where, I can buy the Apple care plan? Any help would be appreciated?
    Thanks, Jerry

So a question about activation, in case anyone knows. I used "my" upgrade several months ago to buy the 3GS. We want to use my husband's upgrade to purchase this one, but I am going to use it and my husband is going to use the 3GS. Therefore, I don't want the phone activated to his info. I am wondering if we just need to do this at the store, or if I order under his account, can I just sync it to my iTunes to get it to be my phone? In other words, I don't want them to go ahead and add the iPhone plan to his line (he's not currently on iPhone plan).
    Thanks

  • Is my Iphone 4 charger covered under warranty through my apple care plan

Is my Iphone charger covered under warranty through my apple care plan?

It depends on the nature of the problem. If the charger is damaged because of the user, it will not be replaced for free, but if it's a manufacturer defect, then it will be replaced

  • Can an apple care plan be used for a phone that was previously broken and was later turned in for a new undamaged phone?

I dropped my iphone and the screen cracked so I am paying $200 to exchange it in the mail for a fixed phone.  I know the apple care plan can only be bought for new phones, but will this phone count as a "new phone" and be able to be covered under apple care?

I see ads on Amazon selling "used" Apple care, If this is decided by the laws of a country, does anyone know if it applies to the US?  I'm interested in covering my MBA and I could save about $100 if I went for one of these "used" deals on Apple Care.

It's not 'our' Apple Care - these forums aren't staffed by Apple. They're user-to-user.

Does the apple care plan cover cracked screens?

You'll probably have to pay the flat-rate repair fee of $199, but you might as well make a reservation with a Genius and have them take a look at it.

  • Is Apple Care plan necessary?

I've only recently discovered this discussion board. What a great place to learn, and thank you to all you experts out there.
I am planning to purchase a new MacBook of my own in Oct with the latest OS. I was considereing adding on the Apple Care plan. Is it worth the $$? Seems so many of you help with tech stuff some of us novices have.

The nice thing is you can buy it anytime during the first year. It allows you to use the phone support for more than 90 days with no extra cost. It extends hardware and some software coverage an addition two years.
You can buy it cheaper here.

I plan on buying it before my year is up.

  • Buy apple care plan help fix everything for the imac osx lion 10.7.5

Hi apple pplz.. I have a question to ask you. If i buy renewal my apple care plan for imac osx lion 10.7.5. Sometime in the future, if my computer is broken down or having issue on the computer. What the apple care plan coverage all the internal part if anything goes wrong it. Cause i don't want to pay for a huge money just for fixing the parts if cost more $1000, worth more than i bought it brand new??

Apple is not here, you're talking to other users.
If you buy the AppleCare warranty, it will cover any defects in the computer, just like the included one-year warranty. Note that you must purchase AppleCare within one year of the purchase of the Mac.

  • My Apple Care plan expired less than a week ago, and my phone has died. Will Apple have any mercy on me?

I am beyond livid that my two-year apple care plan is now expired on my iPhone 3G and my phone has completely gone kaput. I attempted to go to AT&T yesterday and just get the iPhone 4, but with the iPhone 5 lurking just around the corner, I would have to pay full value when it comes out in a few weeks/months.
My brother gave me his old iPhone; will I be able to activate it with no problem? I read an article somewhere that I'd have to sign a new two-year agreement with AT&T to activate the old phone, again defeating the purpose of using an interim phone before the 5 comes out.
    Someone help!!

Actually MArc, it is you who needs to get the story straight.
Apple Care on an iPhone only extends the warranty one year past the original first year, giving you 2 years in total.
