Apple care protection - refund

Hi everyone, this is a sad ex-maclover. my logic board had corrosion and apple-care has sent it back , as I cant afford the $800 bill that they sent me (I didnt spill anything either- which they said I did- but that is a different issue). I called apple and they are not telling me the amount that they would refund, which would depend on my number of calls, repairs, etc. I want to know the amount to make a decision, which seems like a simple issue to me. I cannot make up my mind whether it is worth the debt to get it repaired cheap and get an apple-care refund, or get it done from a certified apple service place!
Could anyone suggest how I can know this amount without committing to cancel the apple protection plan or did I just get a bad rep who would not talk? It seems like my line of bad luck with apple is never ending!
Why sooo much secrecy? I am new to apple, so please advise on how to deal with this issue. Any help is appreciated...

This doesn't sound like the normal Apple Customer Relations department. Don't give in. Insist to speak to a manager and keep a case number each time you call. Sooner or later you'll have enough people chasing your problem they'll have to give in. Also you might want to consider asking the place you sent it in for repair to, to consider the possibility it might have been damaged during shipping. Packages are not necessarily water tight, and I've heard of instances where shipping companies have put a forklift through a one of a kind work of art by accident. Ask them to file a claim with the shipping company. If you paid by credit card, your credit card may have extended warranty options for you to extend the manufacturer's warranty.
Regardless, be calm and persistent.
These places sometimes charge less than Apple for repair:

Ask them to send in a refund form as there is none on their website for that.

  • Apple Care Protection Plan MacBook / MacBook Air

I had just purchased the Apple Care Protection Plan (ACPP) MacBook / MacBook Air without knowing that there's a difference between ACPP for MacBook / MacBook Air and ACPP for MacBook Pro. Since I'm using a MacBook Pro, I cannot register the unique 15-digit registration number as it was meant for a MacBook.
Is it possible for me to upgrade the plan to MacBook Pro and pay the difference or can I get a refund and then purchase the MacBook Pro version?
    Thanks.

Probably. Depending on how you purchased it, you may be able to "return" it and buy the MBP plan. You may need to contact Apple to get that done.
    Hope this helps...

  • What is the difference  between apple care protection plan and apple care

What is the difference between apple care protection plan and apple care +

    apple care protection plan
That is the extended warranty (total of 3 years including the standard warranty for the first year) for any Mac computer.
    apple care +
That is the extended warranty (total of 2 years including the standard warranty for the first year) for any iDevice (iPad, iPhone, etc).
For either, the standard warranty is usually referred to as hardware warranty (not Applecare); see an example for the warranty for an iMac:
    http://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/products/embedded-mac-warranty-us.html
whereas the extended Applecare is referred to as that:

  • Activating my macbook pro 13" Apple Care protection plan

I purchased my macbook pro 13" in February 2011 from JBHIFI. I have not been using my laptop much and only recently opened up the original box for the laptop and found the apple care protection plan I had purchased with it, however not activated.
    And so, I've tried activating it online providing registration & serial numbers, however it says the following when I try and activate it;
"We apologize for any inconvenience, but registration for this product requires additional documentation. Please submit your proof of purchasefor review by Apple. If your registration is accepted, your product will be covered."
    - I click submit your proof of purchase
    - which then asks me "Please provide your mailing address and describe the reason for your submission."
After that it then asks me to provide the following information...
Gather your sales receipt (with the receipt number, product description, original date of purchase, and reseller details).
Gather the documentation that includes the agreement number for your AppleCare product, if applicable.
Tell us how you want to send your proof of purchase.
The problem is, i NO longer have the receipt, and so can not pass this stage. Why is the registration process being difficult for me?
If it helps, I tried registering over and over, not realising I had been pressing 1 key wrong (about 4 times).
    Help would be appreciated, thanks.

ah... I'll have to wait till tomorrow... they are closed today.

  • My MacBook Air is not being listed under the My Products tab after adding the Apple Care Protection Plan

I purchased my MacBook Air from US in December 2013, my company paid for it, so it got listed under their account earlier. So I asked them to remove it from there account and then I added it back to my profile in January 2014. Then it was listed under My Products tab in the My Support Profile page. Later I bought Apple Care Protection Plan for this MBA, and registered that plan with my MBA's serial number and soon after that, MBA vanished from My Products. I thought it might take some time for it to get listed back again after adding the protection plan, but it didn't appeared for quite a long time and so now I am opening this support ticket.
Now whenever I try to add my MBA again by clicking Register New Product, I am getting "According to our records, this serial number is registered to another Apple ID. If you have more than one Apple ID, log in to My Support Profile with that Apple ID to see your other registered products. Not sure if you have another Apple ID?" How can I get my MBA back into my profile?

AppleCare does not cover accidental damage, but try taking it to an Apple Store and see what they say!

  • I use Pro Logic 9 and see that to upgrade to Pro Logic X I need to buy the full package again. Does apple offer special conditions for their Apple clients ? Are users of apple care protection plan better served ?

I use Pro Logic 9.1.8.  and see that to upgrade to Pro Logic X I need to buy the full package again. Does apple offer special conditions for their Apple clients ? Are users of apple care protection plan better served ?

Old saying applies here most of the time......
"If it ain't broken, don't fix it"
I choose to use LP9 with Snow Leopard myself (10.6.8 and 9.1.6) for most of my commercial work simply because I find that combo very stable and provides the best overall performance for my setups here... but I am also using LPX with Mavericks as part of my client support and that works fine too although with a drop in performance due to the heavier demands made on the hardware by the newer OS X and LPX graphic routines for example..

  • If I buy an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station and I have an Optus Cable internet. Do I really need an Apple Care Protection? or I don't have to?

    Hi I'm from Australia.
If I buy an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station and I have an Optus Cable internet. Do I really need an Apple Care Protection? or I don't have to?

Any specific recommendations for a standalone ADSL modem though?
Always a good idea to use the modem that your service provider supplies or recommends....often free....since you know that it will be supported in the event of connection difficulties.
I have made the mistake of choosing the "best" modem based on test reports....only to find out later that the ISP would not offer any support when I was having connection difficulties.
The ISP blamed the modem. The modem support folks blamed the ISP.

  • Explain me about Apple care protection plan validity and coverage in india

Explain me about Apple care protection plan validity and coverage in india

From what I have read in the past, because India has no formal Apple stores and relies on a  re-seller system that hardly justifies the name, getting warranty service is difficult.   Those who sell Apple products tend only to service the products they have sold.    If you import a Mac, for example, the value of the international warranty appears to be at the whim of these re-sellers and I have seen many examples where they simply delay any service almost indefinitely.   All you can do is make a nuisance of yourself with Apple's head office and hope they will put pressure on these errant sellers.
The problem, it appears, is that the Indian government will not allow foreign companies to hold a controlling interest (or more than 50 %) of the shares ... as a result, I read, Apple will not open their own stores.

  • Apple care protection

hello. i'm going to buy apple care protection for macbook pro online but im a bit confused about these 2 products. what is the difference between applecare protection plan for macbook pro http://store.apple.com/my-k12/product/MD013FE/A/applecare-protection-plan-for-ma cbook-pro and this applecare protection http://store.apple.com/my-k12/product/MD015FE/A/macbook-macbook-air-13-macbook-p ro-applecare-protection-plan .

It looks like the second link is for a macbook air or 13" macbook pro.  I'm assuming the first link is for the 15" macbook pro.

  • Apple care protection plan for macbook pro with retina display

hi!!! i recently purchased macbook pro with retina display. Im curious about the apple care protection plan to extend the warranty of my macbook. I would just like to ask if the apple care protection plan includes battery replacement w/in  the next 2 yrs?

it is like car insurance. You purchase it hoping to never need it. But thank your lucky stars for having it after the sheet metal goes CRUNCH!
BTW, AC needs to be activated while the base warranty is in effect. This means you can wait till the last month or so and avoid having to plonk all the cash up front.

  • UPC rebate help/apple  care protection plan

I'm confused as to which UPC they want. It's the one with the serial/part numbers right?
There are like 3 or 4 labels on my box.
And on my Ipod, do they want me to cut out the little tiny UPC label to the Ipod box? (i could only find a shipping label on the actual cardboard box that it came in.)
All these random labels are confusing me.
Also, with the apple care protection plan, it came with a CD. do i need to install that onto my computer, or is it just a back up cd?
    help would be appreciated!

called the apple store and figured it out.
    thanks.
