Apple Care - You need to specify what "case" and "dispatch" numbers are

Judgeing by the number of people asking this, Apple is really failing its users. When trying to track a repair the webpage requests "case,dispatch,zipcode,serial" numbers. What a load of crap. All we have is a tracking number from UPS and an Apple reference number. I sent my ipod off so how will I know the serial number and I'm not planning to move to America so I'll never have a zip code.
Rubbish customer service.
Does anyone have any advice?

your dispatch and case #'s can be found just by logging on with your ID and password, and when you do LOGIN, your information (case & dispatch) should be on the top of your screen. This is GUARANTEED to WORK.

Have just started looking at creating my own CSS for APEX apps. Have read that for non-apex web pages that without a DOCTYPE being specified, browsers such as Mozilla & IE-6 go into Quirks mode, a backward compatibility feature that functions as if it has no knowledge of modern DOM.
Does this affect apex pages and do you need to specify a DOCTYPE?

The built-in APEX HTML page templates don't include DOCTYPES, virtually all have table-based layouts, so whatever browser you bring along, they're gonna party like it's 1999 and everyone is down with Win IE5. This is due to DOCTYPE switching.
The main thing that working this way achieves is that Oracle avoid having to include additional CSS rules and abstruse hacks to deal with CSS rendering bugs in each and every browser out there. Some people think this is A Good Thing.
Web Standards are another Good Thing, and if properly implemented in each and every browser out there life as a web developer/designer would be a lot simpler. Including a DOCTYPE in your page is the starting point for standards-based development. You're declaring "this document is compliant with the stated version of (X)HTML". It's up to you to ensure that it is.
Using an incomplete DOCTYPE:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN">
proclaims your adherence to the XHTML 1.0 Strict standard, and you can take advantage of this by including a validator in your workflow to help you stick to it. However as it's incomplete, the browsers will still revert to rendering CSS in quirks mode, and using Javascript with a proprietary DOM.
A complete DOCTYPE:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"
"html://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
says that you truly believe it's 2008 and will make the browsers render CSS in standards mode, and work with the W3C standard DOM. This is when you may have to deal with browser-dependent rendering bugs. Which might make it seem that Web Standards are more trouble than they're worth, but if you stick to them you won't have any real trouble with getting sites to work with Firefox, Safari and Opera, maybe IE7 and possibly IE6. And you can take advantage of better CSS support in the first 4 of these to apply more advanced techniques.
So, you don't need a DOCTYPE in your APEX pages, but you can include one, and you have to if you want to do standards-based development (as seen here and here).
APEX doesn't (yet?) create 100% standards-compliant code [and sometimes neither do template developers; content creators almost never] but it has improved in this area version on version.

What case and psu?

Ok, I'm getting a new pc to replace my 100Mhz 80mb ram dinosaur pc.
I already have:

Crucial 512MB 184 pin Dimm ddr 3200 unbuffered ram
Western Digital 80gb 7200rpm 8mb cache hdd
Sony DVD/CDRw combo drive.
Sapphire Radeon 9800 Atalntis graphics card
All i need now is the case and psu. Unforturnatly I have only about £60 to spend at most as my mum is paying for it. So does anyone know a case with a good psu for around that price? I will probably get a better psu after in a couple of months but dont really have the money now
Also will I have any problems with what i have already got?

All You Need to Know About MSAS and Voyager (Hopefully)

There seems to be several problems with trying to connect Voyager to Microsoft Analysis Server Cubes.
We have struggled with this for several weeks and I hope to both get answers and document the steps that are required to make this connection work.
We run MSSQL Server 2005 on an XP machine in the development environment (Cheap!) and have had no issues connecting to the cubes with other software (Notably Targit and Excel, etc.) When we try to attach BOXI Voyager in the Productivity Pack, we cannot get the OLE connection to log in to the server.
We are not sure if it is because it is connecting to an XP machine? Or there isn't sufficient "rights" on the XP machine? Or BOXI requires the "ANONYMOUS" user to be setup in the security tab on the MSSQL Management console?
Any help from any of you that have ACTUALLY gotten this Voyager connection working would be tremendously appreciated.

Make sure you have entered your Voyager licence code in CMC.
I'm using BOXI R3. but is same for BOXIR2 Make sure you have defined a voyager connection in the CMC.
in here you need to specify
Server type: Server
Server: your SSAS 2005 server name
then click the Connect and type a user ID with appropriate authority to the cubes.
then select the cube you want.
then specify:
Authentication: User Specified
User: Authorised user
Password:
Click Save.
You then should be able to create a new Vouager workspace from the infoview.

Reset time, press and hold both the power and home buttons for 10-15 seconds till the Apple logo appears. Release both buttons. Wait 15-20 seconds till your iPad starts on it's own. Check the downloads.

A used AppleCare plan cannot be transferred to a new machine unless you own both machines and you make the transfer within 30 days of purchasing the original machine:
(ii) With Transfer From Original Covered Equipment to New Covered Equipment. You may make a one time, permanent transfer of the coverage under the Plan to a new Apple product that is owned and purchased by you within thirty (30) days of the Covered Equipment purchase. I have an iPhone 4S on which I bought the Apple Care policy. The phone was broken and I was told that Apple would do nothing as it was "beyond economical repair". Does anybody know where in the Apple Care agreement the topic of beyond economical repair?

I recently brought in a broken iPhone 4S and was told the damage was too great and therefore that is was BER and Apple would not cover the phone. I have never dealt with this issue before and was curious as to where in the terms and conditons Apple reserves the right to not cover if the think that the phone is beyond economical repair. When I asked clerk I was told that everybody knew that BER applied and "you would not expect an insurance cover to pay for a car if it was totalled." I told the gentleman in that case the BER only applies as to whether I received money for car or insurance company repaired the vehicle. When I asked to see the terms that set this out nobody in the store (or the chat support agent later). Does anybody know where this term or terms is set forth. Also, has nobody ever questioned if it is fair to sell consumers coverage for accidental damage and not tell them that only small damage is covered and not major damage? I am a little suprised unless I am missing something really obvious. I have never had this issue with Asurion or with Best Buy coverage. Thanks

You mention Apple Care, not Apple Care + which are two completely different things. Apple Care is nothing more than an additional year of standard warranty coverage. Apple Care + is what addressed accidental damage. Warranty has never covered accidental damage. What kind of damage did you do? An out of warranty replacement can be done for $199 for the iPhone 4S, and that just means you brought the phone in at least somewhat intact.

I always run a Time Machine backup before updating anything and recommend you run a backup as well. Paid apps should migrate over without any problem. If you have problems with VPP codes not transfering over properly, you can talk to your Apple SE or contact VPP for Education support and they can help you. While I haven't experienced any problems with updating, its never a guarantee that others will have the same experience.

We use 3 settings in Forms based auth:
1 Membership = This contains Users and groups information. (This table also has username and password)
2 ConnectionString = Connetion details to connect to database is stored here(servername, databasename, username, password, port )
3 Role = This table contains all the Roles (Admin, contibutor, etc of the data source)

S6000 (MS-16D3) - What BIOS and EC mods are possible?

The current BIOS version is E16D3IMS.10D, dated July 23rd, 2010. The current EC version is 16D3EMS1, Ver 4.03, dated June 1st, 2010.
As the thread title asks, what sort of mods can be done?
The laptop currently has a first gen Intel Core i5-450M processor. Keeping with the same socket and TDP, and only looking at processors that have integrated graphics, since the laptop does not have discrete graphics, the best processor I could find is an Intel Core i7-640M. However, I have no idea if the current official BIOS would support it. The motherboard chipset documentation suggests that the chipset supports it, but the BIOS is in question. MSI support was useless when I asked.
Also, as my thread in the main forum shows, I'm having a problem with enabling the WiFi with Fn+F8. (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=165384.0) Could the default WiFi state be changed to on, and would then disabling it (by finding the adapter in device manager, right-clicking it, and choosing 'disable') provide the same power savings as disabling it via the Fn key combo?
Also, does the BIOS whitelist what mini PCI-e cards are allowed?
What about under/overclocking options? (Processor vcore voltage adjustment, fsb adjustment, custom memory timings, fan control, etc)
Also, my graphics ("Intel HD Graphics", not 2000, 3000, 4000, etc.) show 64 MB of "dedicated" RAM and 1632 MB of shared system RAM, both likely coming out of my 8 GB (maximum possible) of DDR3/1066 RAM. Can that 64 MB be increased? How high? What about that 1632 MB of RAM it shows as using as shared RAM? Can it be adjusted?
What about allowing me to connect a P600 battery? (The sister model of my laptop, but with an 8 cell vs. 4 cell battery.) Would such a battery work (and charge) without BIOS mods? What about an aftermarket charger? Does the BIOS also contain logic to disallow them that can be removed?
Also, how much of a donation is suggested?

I realize this is an old thread but since no one else had responded I figured that I would give it a shot since this thread still comes up when searching for S6000 info
I also have an S6000 that had very short battery life with the original 4 cell battery and after a disappointing call to MSI to try to obtain a P600 battery I was able to find several sellers of P600/S6000 8 cell batteries on eBay for around $75.00 .
just go to eBay's computer section and search for an MSI P600 Battery and there you go.
I bought one and installed it with no modifications and it has approximately tripled the amount of time I can go between charges so if you're looking for a better battery this is one possible solution
I also found a few sellers of supposedly compatible aftermarket chargers/power supplies there as well

HT204135 what do you do if apple responds that the driver is unavailable. The problem is even if you have manually uploaded the drivers from the epson website, apple seems to need to look for them and if it doesn't work then you are stuck

I am trying to install an epson bx635fwd.
Connecting to the printer is fine and using the usb cable and network seems to work OK. The problem comes when I try and find the printer.
It pops up as a nearby printer but apple tries to look for the softwars on its own website. It then tells me this is unavailable.
I go to the epson website and upload the latest drivers.
When I try again, in system preferences, the same thing happens and I get a message that the software is unavailable from the apple website....etc..etc.
I am using 10.7 on a 24 inch imac, fully updated.

When you select to add the printer, don't select the entry shown under Nearby Printers. Instead, select Add Printer or Scanner and from the new window that appears, select the Epson. If the Print Using menu does not change to the already installed driver and the search window appears, sometimes you have the option to skip this search and manually add the printer via the Print Using menu. If you are not given this option then trash the contents of the Epson folder in HD > Library > Printers. Then unplug the printers USB cable and reconnect. This should prompt the Mac to add the printer automatically and go looking for the driver which is available from Apple.

So what viwers/players do I need to download in order to be
able to play
every audio/video file that comes my way? iTunes handles .mp3
files, and
I also have QuickTime installed. I just viewed another video
after I
installed a Flash plugin. What else do I need to install?
