Apple Color OneScanner 1200/30

Hi all,
I recently sold an Apple Color OneScanner 1200/30 on eBay. I did not have the software for the unit so sold it "as is" with the owners manual and a power cord.
Apparently this unit, when purchased new, came with Ofoto 2.0 & TextBridge OCR, along with Dispatcher applications. I am following my sale with customer service in order to help this fellow have a workable scanner. Here is the information he gave me regarding the mac computer/OS he has which he would like to utilize with this scanner:
"I am restoring (2) Mac SE/30s that will be running 7.5.5 with 128MB of memory & 4GB hard drives. Both will be on the internet with Ethernet cards, running Netscape browsing software and E-Mail capabilities."
Would he be able to use the scanner with just an appropriate driver? Does he need the Ofoto 2.0 & Textbridge OCR and/or Dispatcher apps?
Thanks in advance for any input.
Best,
Dennis

I assume you just need the extention. Go here:

  • Color OneScanner problem

    Hi,
I have a Color OneScanner (with a terminator) and I'm trying to connect it to a Mac Classic. When I run applescan application, it gives me a report that it can't find any scanners. Do I need some additional software or something?

Your scanner has built-in termination, so your terminator might be extraneous (though I don't think it'll hurt). Make sure to try with the SCSI ID as something other than 0 or 7.
An article about termination and IDs is here:

  • How can I connect HDTV to iMac to use with Apple Color?

    Hey guys,
I use Color application a lot and the colors don't look the same outside of Color app once they come back to FCP the project is on a dvd...
Is it possible to use an LCD HDTV with the iMac for Apple Color to see the colors would actually look on a TV?
If yes, please let me know...
If not, then is there a workaround?
    Thanks in Advance

Ben...no one mentioned the MXO2. Talking about the original Matrox MXO...connects via DVI. And it has Component and SDI outputs. Works with professional broadcast monitors. On that note, the MXO2 also has those connections.
And a GOOD HDTV will work for many non-broadcast workflows. Not everyone does broadcast work, so they don't all need broadcast monitors.
But, I'm sorry to say that the original MXO doesn't work with the latest batch of iMacs, nor the generation before this. It is old hardware designed for older machines. An iMac just won't work for this purpose. Sorry.

  • PLEASE HELP! Apple Color crashes on timeline import!

I'm at a complete loss right now; no idea what I should do.
Running OS X 10.6.3, Final Cut Pro 7, and Color 1.5
On one specific FCP project, I attempt to send a sequence to Color in order to be graded. Color opens and begins importing the project. Once Color finishes importing the XML data and the "Saving Project" bar gets to 100%, Color closes and tells me that it has quit unexpectedly. This happens before any of the images/scopes appear on screen.
Color will load other projects just fine. I have tried copying sequences, duplicating project files, batch re-capturing the original media, etc within FCP but with the same result.

My stock answer to a mystery crash when COLOR is otherwise operating normally with other sequences, is that there is something unique (a poison pill) in that sequence.
With the app crashing at the point it does, it seems to suggest a confusion or ambiguity within the EDL/XML process. It could be any number of issues with the way the sequence is constructed; its content, filter load, third-party plugins, unsupported media/codecs, nested sequences, and so on.
The traditional troubleshooting procedure is to start cutting up the sequence and sending portions to try to isolate a problem area. Cut it in half and send the halves separately. If you get a launch, great... try the other one and see if it crashes... or vice versa, then subdivide the crashed half again... and so on.
    Report your findings, please.

  • No preview or scopes information in Apple Color

This is the second time I've had this issue in around 3 months. I had initially solved the issue but had to do a full clean install of OSX and also my Final Cut Studio package. It's occured again for no apparent reason and to be honest I don't want to waste another few days doing a clean install of both my operating system and editing package again.
The issue is, my project in FCP 7 is ready for grading and when I click 'Send To > Apple Color', it brings the project over into Color and every clip can be scrubbed through on the timeline. However there are no previews showing up of the clips in the preview window, as well as no colour information/data showing up in the scopes. It's as if there is not video within my project even though there is a good 9 or 10 minutes of footage that needs to be graded!
I want to sort this problem as soon as possible due to this being a project that is of utmost value!
I've attached an image of the issue to this post. Thanks in advance.

Ladies and gents I'd just like to let you know I've solved this issue! It was a bit of a eureka moment but it seemed to do the trick. I'll explain below.
Basically I have a short section of the film that was shot on Super 8mm film. The Telecine I had meant the footage came back as a perfect 4:3 square, but I wanted a more traditional smooth/feathered/curved/rounded frame over the footage, so I'd created a PNG file with a black border and transparent centre to overlay on top.
For no apparent reason I decided to delete this image file and try sending the project to Color. Low and behold it's worked no problem and I can now finally see my video in the video preview section, as well as the colour data and information in the scopes.
A massive thank you to everyone who commented on this thread! Thanks for your time.

  • Can I get the Apple Color Picker in CS5 Windows?

    HI -
I'm a lifetime Mac and long time PShop user transplanted into a Windows shop.  Of all the things that I miss on my new workplace platform, the Apple Color Picker is the one that I encounter most often.
Is there a plug-in, an extension, is there some way, ANY WAY, that I could have the Apple CP to use on a Windows version of CS5??  It might seem like a trivial issue to Windows users but to a transplanted Mac user - it's a major one.
    TIA your input.
    JL

You probably already know your choices, as provided by Photoshop on a Windows system, are only Adobe and Windows per the Edit - Preferences - General tab.
It may be possible some 3rd party could have invented an Apple Color Wheel work-alike, but I have never run across one.  Try a Google search for:
    color wheel picker Photoshop windows
Such a search turns up stuff like:
    http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/colortoolswin/Color_Pickers_and_Color_Tools_for_Windows.h tm
    and
    http://www.anastasiy.com/panels
If you don't find one you like, you're probably best off just trying to get used to the Adobe color picker; it will afford you some system-independence for the future, should you switch back to Mac.

  • In Apple Color Picker, need to sort custom list

I just created a custom color list in Apple's Color Picker which is not sorted and I want it to be.
FYI: the Apple Color Picker opens in many applications for choosing what color something should be. For example, in TextEdit use menu Format > Font > Show Colors.
On the Color Picker, the 3rd tab by default has pre-defined lists of colors, including "Apple", "Developer", and "Web Safe Colors". I created a custom color list, which is out of order alphabetically (or any other way). I would like to sort that list alphabetically (or by color, I guess) without deleting and recreating every color. Can this be done?

    Hi, whytwolf.
I thought your question was interesting, so I spent some time experimenting.
The Colors Palette doesn't permit re-ordering the items in the list, such as by dragging or Command-dragging them.
Unfortunately, the color list one creates using the Colors Palette — e.g. the file colorlistname.clr in your Home > Library > Colors directory — is an NSDictionary object. It's saved in binary format and it appears virtually impossible to edit reliably with a text editor. These objects are usually created and read using Cocoa programming. I know of no editor specifically designed to permit one to change these objects directly, and a variety of Web searches for such an editor failed to find a tool.
It appears there was once a utility called Color List Editor that seemed tailor-made for your purpose, but it appears to have vanished without a trace. While the VersionTracker listing remains, all of the links to the download are broken. I was able to track down the author's Web site but the download isn't available there. I've e-mailed him in case it's still available, though it may not work with Tiger given its age. If I hear back anything from the author, I'll let you know.
What I recommend you do is recreate the list, first focusing on the order of items by name you want to include in such. Then, once that's sorted, assign the swatches. You should probably do a trial run on paper or using a spreadsheet to get the names and sequence correct before you undertake the actual list-creation process again using the Color Palette. Then work carefully, since correcting errors in mid-list means deleting the error and all entries thereafter. Most tedious!
It might also be worthwhile to submit a Mac OS X Feedback, suggesting Apple enhance the Color Palette so that one can reorder colors by dragging them in the list, at least for color lists the user has created, i.e. those on which the user has Access permissions of Read & Write.
    Good luck!

  • Apple Color Picker Erase Swatch function no longer works.

It was always possible to erase one of the swatches in the ubiquitous Apple Color Picker by dragging a white square over the swatch square you wanted to erase. Now that function doesn't work anymore. Very odd. You can add new colors as always, you just can't erase them. In any application where I use the Color Picker this function no longer works. For example Pixelmator, Rapidweaver, etc.
    Any ideas?

Sorry, I read too much into it. I guess I couldn't imagine it was just scrolling. I was thinking you were talking about going from page to page with a swipe gesture.
Given that, their software is either broken or something is interfering. Any other programs have a problem with two-finger scrolling?

  • Apple Color changes the brightness of the original image

    Hi,
I'm just new to the software and have a problem.
I open dpx files in apple color and send the sequence to final cut pro, everything is ok but the sequence is always brighter than the original one, so when I try to combine the two images (the original video and the sequence that comes from apple color) they don't match brightness-wise...
Apple Color automatically changes some values of the dpx files, but I don't know how to prevent it.
I'd appriciate if you could help

  • How can i import my color editing from apple color to fcp x

    Hello mates,
I edited my project in FCPX 10.0.8 than i export XML file and open it with DaVinci Resolve to export it again for Apple Color. So far so good no problem. I edit my color in that program but when i said send to final cut pro it was opening with the old projects. I mean i can't see my color editing in that project. I can't figure out how can i import that file in fcp x. I tried to export an XML from color, but i couldn't open it with Davinci nor FCPX.
So i will be very glad if you help me..

FCPX does not read Color XML exports. You would need to export the finished footage in Color and reimport that into X. Resolve is free and offers a far more integrated workflow with X than Color ever will (as it's long been discontinued).

  • Replacement serial cable needed for an Apple Color Stylewriter 2500

    Hello,
I have a question. I lost the serial printer cable for an Apple Color Stylewriter 2500, but if I order a replacement serial printer cable from we love macs, will the cable still work just as good as the original apple cable? I didn't want to have troubles with printing and data errors with the replacement cable. Or should I try to get as close to original one as I can?
Any help would be really appreciated. Many thanks.

With Apple, you only have 14 days to return a product. Due to the design of the iPad, there's no way to make any changes - color, battery, screen glass, amount of memory, etc -  to the iPad.
     Cheers, Tom
    Here's Apple's Return Policy
If you want to return an item, you can ship the item back to Apple, or bring it to any U.S. Apple Store for a full refund. For eligible Mac, iPad, iPod, and third-party products, you have up to 14 calendar days from the time you receive your item(s) to initiate a return.
Items ineligible for a return include:

  • Workflow between Premiere & Apple Color

Hi, all.  I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 on OS X.  I am a subscriber to Adobe Creative Cloud and I also have Motion on my machine.  I have a Windows machine that currently has no relevant software installed.
Our video productions require colour correction, and I can't do that because I'm severely colour blind.  I have a mate who can do it but he's in another city.  He uses Apple Color.  He has Final Cut Pro Suite, and CS 5 (not 6) on Mac.
I want to export my projects in such a way that he can colour correct them and export them so that I can load them back into CS6.  I'll probably have to transfer files over the Internet so it would be good if we can make them as small as possible.  Any ideas how we can make this work?
    Richard

With the options you have all you can really do then is use a codec that is either lossless or visually lossless. You also have to use a codec that will work with his edit system. Which really limits the choices because apple's edit products don't play nice with many different formats.
Obviously what Jim and Shoot have suggested would be better but as you mentioned already you have to play the hand your dealt.
But in the meanwhile I'd start trying to find another solution for the long term. But like I said for the time being you're probably going to have to go with some type of Lossless Quicktime choice since he's using apple based editing software.

  • Apple Color 1.5 - Can't See Keyframes in Timeline

Hi I'm learning to color correct in Apple Color 1.5 and I can't figure out how to see my keyframes.  They should appear at the bottom of the screen in/under the timeline.  I see the thumbnails for each clip.  Below the thumbnails are horizontal bars representing the overall Grade and corrections I've made in individual rooms (P1, S1, CFX, etc).  From what I can tell, below that there should be a horizontal representation of the keyframes, but I've got nothing.  I tried adding a few keyframes in different rooms to see if something would activate and appear, but I still have nothing.
All the videos I've seen that show a screen capture of someone working with keyframes in Color show those little keyframe markers present exactly where I've described above, but I have yet to find anyone turning them on or off.  I've been through all the dropdowns and can't seem to find any place these are turned off or on.  Can anyone tell me what may have happened and how I might get these keyframes turned back on so I can see and work with them?
In case it matters, I've sent this timeline over from FCP, intending to round trip.
    Thanks!

    Thanks!

  • I have lost my Keyframe bars in Apple Color

Classic Apple Color problem.  I have lost my keyframing bar.  Apparently, it has slipped too far under the little yellow line at the bottom of the app.  I can't pull it up with the other bars (or the tiny grey rectangle on those bars).  I know it's down there and working because the keyframing is still active on the image and there is a little arrow pointing downwards above this yellow line, but - impossible to pull it back up.  Anyone know how to reset this?
Further, I have tried switching to Hours, Minutes and Seconds.  Still no go.  What gives?

Four different forums, including Apples's and no one knows the answer?
I have 250 edits on a timeline.  A project I have been working on for the last month and I can't pull up my keyframe bars.  This is crazy.
