Apple Composite AV Cable issues

Just bought the Apple branded Composite AV Cable for my Iphone, but I'm having some issues, it works for some minutes, or seconds and then I get the message "This accessory is not made for iphone" and then the video stops to play on tv.
I'm on firmware 1.1.2, can anyone help me?

Hey cybeard,
Try using the cable without the dock. Make sure the dock connector on the iPhone is clean, brush away any dirt or lint.
You can also try restoring the iPhone, http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305744
If that does not work you can request repair for the iPhone or cable online here:

I am trying to connect my ipod classic to a tv (sony bravia 1080p) and have tried many cables including the Apple composite AV cable with the 30 pin connector on one end and three RCA connectors on the other.  Audio works but video does not.  The ipod classic screen says to connect to device when it is already connected. No success.  Any thoughts?

    Hello, anabelleho.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here is a troubleshooting article that I would recommend going through when experiencing this issue.

Apple Composite AV Cable no longer working on Ipad2 after ios8 update. I'm only getting sound no video can you revert back to ios7 or buy a cable that will work any help would be appreciated

The 30-pin connector on the iPhone 4 dock might not have all the connector pins to do video.
I'm 99% sure the Universal Dock does have the pins (and therefor supports video out).

  • Apple Composite AV cable doesn't work with my iPhone 3G (3.1.3)

    Hello,
Just purchased composite AV cable from apple store but it doesn't play videos on TV but audios only,
Is it firmware or my cable prlbme?

I used the original Apple composite AV cable with my iPhone 3G (OS 3.1.3) for a while and it worked fine for video playback in the iPod app. But after upgrading my iPhone 3G to iOS4 the cable stopped working. Video on my TV remains black and is shown on the iPhone's screen instead of the TV, and sometimes the iPhone tells me that this accessory is not designed to work with this iPhone. What did Apple do? Is there anyone who can confirm this change in behavior? Apple still recommends this cable in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1454?viewlocale=en_US

  • Apple Composite AV Cable: Full Screen from iPod to TV?

I'm looking at buying the Apple Composite AV Cable for my iPod Classic 120. I didn't want to purchase it before I knew if it would do what I want it to do.
Will it play TV shows, Videos, etc... full screen on my TV when plugged in?
Also, if I were to plug it into a 3rd party (Dynex) iPod dock, and plug the Apple Composite AV Cable into the 30pin port in back of the dock, would it still play on my TV?
And thirdly, with the above scenario in use, if I were to plug the USB end of the AV Cable into my computer, would it still play on my TV?
Any and all help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

Your first question is yes. If you set the ipod to "fit to screen" then it will, as long as when you convert the file, the aspect ratio is set to the ipod screen size(320×240 pixels). If the software has that option.
I'm not sure about the connection for the dock you want to use, but with the 6th gen ipods a lot of 3rd party docks will not allow you to view video's through them because of something written into the ipod software. The one you want to use does not support the Classic. The only one I found was Apples own. But you can not use the menu button on the remote, so you can not change between films (unless in a play list) or change between films, music, photos or any other function of the ipod with out manually doing it yourself. The menu button is only to be used with Apple TV.
No to your third question. Your ipod is connected to the computer and even if you play the file from the pod in itunes, it will only show up on your monitor

  • Video streamed from YouTube using the Apple Composite AV Cable

I used to have video streamed from YouTube on my iPad to my TV using the Apple Composite AV Cable, this was in previous versions till the iOS 6 release, then YouTube no longer streams video through this cable :'(
Very annoying really to miss a feature through a software upgrade!
    Please help me.

Looks like the connector that goes into the iPad doesn't precisely connect all pins and lock the whole thing in place as well as we would think an Apple-branded product would. I discovered after four hours that if I pull my AV composite cable from the iPad without turning the iPad off (not the Apple recommended way - perhaps there's a better way, like replugging with it off?) and plugging it back in, *poof* I get video again. Now, Netflix still isn't working, but U-Tubes and photo slideshows are back with awesome-quality sound. I believe I'll get similar results when I try this on my iPhone 4.
I guess Apple TV is really the only way to get the luxury back of being able to stay focused on your entertainment and not this equipment because this was spozed to be a movie nite for me four hous ago. I just wish Apple TV had as much content as the Roku.
Anyway, just plug and re-plug, but don't be too hard on it. You might also have to turn widescreen off and back on again.

  • IDevices and Apple composite AV Cable - Not Working

    Hi...
I've had problems connecting my iPods (iPod 30GB Video 5.5Gen, iPod Touch 1st and 2nd Gen, with latest capable software up to date) and my iPhone 4 (iOS 6 up to date) to my Samsung LED TV Series 5 using the original, Apple, composite AV cable. Everything is plug in, the way it should be, according to the manual. Devices charge and the Settings menu even displays the TV Settings... It shoud work right?
No... No audio (tried to play some music), no photo, no video (no images, no audio), nothing...
The composite AV cable is fine and works on a crappy 15 to 20 year old CRT TV (mp3, video and photo).
I've adjusted every TV-Out setting there is, on both LED TV and iDevices with no result...
Don´t know waht else to do... Need help, plz... Any suggestions????
    Thanks

I'm confused. You mean that you're expecting to charge your iPhone by connecting it to the TV with a Composite AV cable? That's not going to work; a composite video cable doesn't supply power to the power input pins on your iPhone's dock connector.
Plugging the iPhone to the USB wall socket directly using my regular cable gives the same error so I guess it is the voltage?
Amperage, most likely. There quite likely is insufficient power from that USB port to charge the iPhone (something not infrequent with computer USB ports, and we know nothing about what that USB port is hooked up to.
BTW, to me it would be very risk to plug an iPhone into some USB port about which you know little or nothing. I'd suggest you just use the charger included with the iPhone.
    Regards.

    Hi there,
I am assuming you have an ipod nano 6th gen (the small one with a touch screen)
unfortunately, the ipod nano 6 gen can not play videos whatsoever unless you hack it so even with a cable it does not work.
I hope this helps cus im new
(if other generation ipod nano, just reply and i will help again )

  • Displaying video using "Apple Composite AV Cable" to an in car DVD player

Has anyone had any success or knows of any in car dvds/screens that will enable you to display video from an iPhone/Touch. Im assuming we would need to use something similar to Apples "Apple Composite AV Cable". To be honest I really only want to show videos from my iPhone/touch... if the screens didn't have dvds I really would care..
    Thx

Your best bet would be to find a car head unit with either a composite or component input. From there you would just use the appropriate cable from the Apple Store.

  • Apple iPhone 3G Dock + Apple Composite AV Cable

Trying to use an Apple Composite AV Cable (MB129LL/B) on a Apple iPhone 3G Dock (MB484G/A) connected to a LCD: No go (regarding video out) so far - is it only me? Has someone got this working together?

+At least the Apple Universal Dock is advertised as working http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1454+
    +But I don't want to spend another $49 (dock) + $9 (3G dock adapter)+
I purchase an Apple Universal Dock from the AppleStore in Sydney. It came with the iPhone 3G dock adapter even though at the time on the online AppleStore it said it didn't. In fact I bought the iPhone 3G dock adapter and had to return it.

  • Using Apple Composite AV Cable

I recently bought an Apple Composite AV Cable and it's quite good. I was impressed with the build quality and the supplied USB charger is very cute.
When playing video on my 80G iPod classic, on the screen it looks clear and sharp but when output onto my television it is pixelated to ****!
Is there any way to improve the quality when encoding the file? I took 700M Divx at 578x320 but by the time it made it onto the ipod it was only 374x208!

Mine doesn´t work ok too! Just the sound! I´ve tried to setup the video options, re-size the video... And nothing happends! Still only shaking images...

  • Apple composite av cable - ipad2

after updated ios 8.1.1 for ipad 2 3G, apple composite av cable only use on avplayer application. when ios 7.1.2 all application can use this cable to connect to TV.

    Dleach-
I assume you know how to switch the TV from its tuner to the various video inputs.
I'm not familiar with Composite video data, but understand it has similar connections to the "Component" system.  Is it possible your TV has a Component video input instead of Composite?
I can not verify it, but someone else mentioned the iPad 2 does not have "mirroring" with either the Composite or Component adapter.  In other words, there may not be a video signal going to the TV unless you are playing a movie or a slide show.

  • Why won't the Apple Composite AV Cable work with ipad2?

I got the Apple Composite AV Cable for our iPad2 but it does not seem to work.  The cable does not work with either our iPad2 or the iPod Touch 2G.  Ironically, the cord *does* work with our ancient iPod 80GB Classic.
The iPad does not show settings for PAL or NTSC or any other settings I could possibly change to try and get the video out to work.  What am I missing?
IPod Touch is set for NTSC and Widescreen has been tried both off and on with no video shown on the TV.
The videos do still show on the iPod/iPad screens while playing.

Apparently the answer is no? I guess for me this is the #1 reason to not buy an iPhone 5. I switched to the iPhone specifically for the component (RCA) cable with charging capabilities for my car audio / nav needs. Android did not have a good solution and Apple did. I am sure there are a hand full of  folks who bought the Pioneer App radio who are stuck as well. Apple needs to make an airplay to component adapter or a cable for the iPhone 5. Newsflash  I am not switching my head unit out for a new phone. Don’t get me wrong I love air play and own an apple TV but hotel rooms, cars, boats and points of usage not going to have air play in all instances. Even if a cable comes out the “digital” port seems telling that component is going away. Time will tell.

  • I recently bought Apple Composite AV Cable and while i can use my old IPOD to connect to my car's tv I can not use my IPAD 2 or IPHONE 4,,why?

I recently bought Apple Composite AV Cable and while i can use my old IPOD to connect to my car's tv I can not use my IPAD 2 or IPHONE 4,,why?

does that mean I can not buy a movie or tv show  from itunes and watch it on my car tv through my iphone? Does that also mean I can not watch any video even the ones I take via the iphone camera? That makes no sense, f that is true what is the rational? And how come it works from the IPOD?
