Apple Compressor v3.5, doomed to fail?

Alright everyone I have read the forums so no need to point me in the direction of an old one. I have come to the conclusion that Apple Qmaster 3.5.3 and Compressor 3.5.3 are sabatoging me into buying compressor 4! I am yet again unable to submit a batch to a cluster or my own computer (submit button grayed out).
Solutions I have tried and failed...
1) Update Qmaster to latest version (3.5.3) with Pro Applications Update 2010-02
2) Tried using Compressor Repair
3) Completely uninstalled Qmaster, Compressor and Motion(Apple recommended Motion as well?) according to their troubleshooting documents. Re-installed, viola it worked... until I updated using the automated Software Update...
4) Renamed my computer in sharing preferences and Qmaster preferences to a simple name... like iMac.
Back to square one... is there a reason Apple comes out with an update that keeps a program from working or is this a forceful way to make me pay $40 for a program that is exactly the same minus a couple new presets? This is beyond frustrating.
System: iMac 3.4Ghz Quad-Core Intel Core i7

Compressor works and works well for most of us. Your experience trying to solve yoru problems does ot in any way suggest Compressor 4 will work any better.

I have upgrade 2 of my Macbook air 11" models. Both have major slow functionality in allmost every programs. slow mail, safari, pages. Allmost nothing of the funksjonalitys can being uses in numbers. Slow functionality when jumping between programs. Allover i have BIG problems with mac for my first time. And why do not Apple send a fix for all fails there is after upgrading to Yosemite. how can i get mountain lion reinstalled if my mac says apple id never purchased? hd failed 2 wks after wty expired, I am the original owner, put another hd in, done command-r & sys reinstalled, but it wanted to update & now am stuck. I don't mind paying for mountain lion; it is too far to get to an apple store. but, i only have one mac, so i cannot download with another mac. lots of other apple, but only one mac.

You will need to do a network recovery:
Install Lion/Mountain Lion on a New HDD/SDD
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
2. After DU loads select your external hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

Apple Compressor codecs

I have a problem with Apple Compressor and its output generated ProRes files. We have an AJA Ki Pro Quad which can playback Apple ProRes files, but it appears to only playback files which refer to "Core Media Video", "Core Media Audio" and "Core Media TimeCode" in the metadata "Title", Which I pressume is Apples Core Media Framework used to generate the output files ?. Now files created using Final Cut Pro contain references to "core media", but files created in Apple Compressor do not, meaning that a different engine (codec?) is used to create the output files in Compressor and FCP. Now the confusing part is AJA Support have compressor on a Mac which does not have FCP, yet there compressor generates files referencing core media !?? So my guestion is, what codec does compressor use ? how can two installations of compressor (4.1.1) on two difference Macs create two different formatted files ? note the settings for both compressors where identical too, and the source material for converting where also the same too.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Yeah sorry, wasn't clear. The output ProRes files created by Apple compressor 4.1.1 on our Mac has no mention in the Metadata of "Core Media", and these ProRes files do not work in an AJA product that supports ProRes files. AJA support have Apple Compressor 4.1.1 on a Mac, yet the ProRes files they create do mention "Core Media" in the metadata, and the ProRes files they create do work in there AJA product. My question is why are the two created files metadata different ? yet both Macs have the same OS, Final Cut Pro is not installed on either Mac, the source file to convert is the same, and the compressor setting used for the prores output are the same !
Have also used Final Cut Pro (Trial) and this outputs files with reference to "Core Media" in the metadata, and these files work in the AJA product.
Image above, left is Compressor 4 from our Mac, Right is Compressor 4 from AJA Mac, as you can see the metadata is indeed different, suggesting a difference engine was used by Compressor to generate either file.

Os X Server - Installing Apple Compressor

Hi every one,
I have created a render farm from a rack of Xserve 1,1. I attempted to upgrade the 2nd and 3rd drive modules in all Xserves with 2TB drives but they are not mounting. An archived Apple article is pointing to " necesity " of upgrade to MacOSX server 10.6.x and higher. Well, that will be quite an expensive venture in maintaining my render farm. One solution at this point would be installing " OS X Server 2 " on all Xserves but then can I install " Apple Compressor " on that operating system ?
- 12 racked, Xserve 1,1 - Mac OSX 10.6.8 ( not server version ) - 8 GB RAM - 750GB drives - One XRaid 8TB DATA on that cluster.

I hate being the Xserve Grinch. But you are dealing with technologies from vastly different generations that you are simply not going to be able to make work together. Here are some sad realities:
• Xserve 1,1 can run up to 10.7.5
• 10.7.5 will limit you to Server.app 1.0 (2.0 requires 10.8, 3.0 requires 10.9)
• Apple put custom firmware on the drives shipping in the drive modules. 2 TB drives were not a supported configuration even with the late 2009 Xserve. You chances of getting these to work in a drive sled may not be good. See here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1219 for the official statement and here http://tidbits.com/article/10166 is a good explanation of the challenges that you face.
• Xserves (in today's perspective) are not really good at being efficient. See this http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2764 and compare it to http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3468 The power consumption max of 85W on a mini is more than doubled on an idle Xserve.
• The Xserves are just slow in terms of today's machines. From drive i/o to processor performance.
The bottom line is that if you want to build a render farm, you might want to consider a stack of Mac minis. You will benefit from faster drives, faster memory, faster processors, and the ability to run the latest OS. Assuming you are running both units at max, you can run 3 minis in the power and thermal output of 1 Xserve. These are cost savings opportunities. Plus, minis can be picked up for $599 a piece, allowing you to get 4 or more minis for the price of the Xserve.
So, bottom line. Yes, I lament the end of the Xserve. But there are just better choices.

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
(You may already have a micro USB cable if you have a camera or other digital device)
Check that you have correctly followed the instructions for your model of Apple TV.
If not already, try using a powered USB port.
Repeat the process but this time try connecting the cable while iTunes is closed.
Repeat the process with another cable.
Try restoring the Apple TV on another computer in another location.

After using Apple Compressor It wont free up my ram

I noticed that after I use Compressor my Ram wont free up. I have 8 Gig of Ram and after using Compressor it just stays between 486 mb or 300 mb. I can only get my ram back after a reboot. What's up with that?

So i gave it a try and got this in the Terminal window after using Compressor and closing it.
failed to initialize CHUD.framework
I have no clue why or what the CHUD.framework has to do with purging the RAM.

Apple TV 5.1.1 update fails

I tried to update my brand new Apple tv 3 to v5.1.1 firmware and it goes through Step 1 " Preparing Update" it get about 95% and then the process aborts and says Update Failed, please restart and try again. I restarted the device and tried again. Same issue. Currently using V5.1 firmware.
Apple Please HELP!

Switching the Apple TV over to our wifi allowed me to update as well. Thanks for the tip!
Looks like Apple is aware of the issue and included this fix in their bug updates for 5.1.1.

Compressor jobs come up as failed continually

I am a novice with this program I admit but am following instructions via help menu and checked troubleshooters but clearly I am doing something wrong. I have loaded my 8 minute reel in a .mov file and want to convert it to a MPEG-4 Webcasting... have repeated process several times and it appears to process in the history window as per usual, but when it gets thru to the end it says FAILED!Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated!

I'm having a similar situation. I waited more than 60 hours for a BluRay encode, and now that it gets to burning the disc, Create Disc ejects the blank disc I had inserted the entire time and asks for a disc to be inserted.
Create Disc message:
"Please insert the dual layer media to burn the disc "name".
Option to Cancel Burn only.
I've tried inserting a few different types of DVD-DL media, and I know they're blank, but it eventually ejects them. Sometimes I'm getting a Compressor message telling me I don't have enough space on the disc to complete the operation, but when I look at the encoded file I see it's only about 4GB.
I previously ran a test on 3.5 minutes with the new Compressor with these settings, and the end result was beautiful. So I committed to the 60+ hours to encode the full project and now this...
Anyone know if I cancel this burn if I can use DVDSP to try burning it later? Any solutions?

Unable to update apple TV and when restore activation failed

Apple tv informing me updates available but when i try to update, update keeps ending in unsuccessfull. Then I tried a restore and reset but activation fails. Please can anyone give advice.

Got MBP (15inch late2011) in Jan-2012... full screen is black. I am in india and apple guys said Graphic Processer is failed

I got a Macbook Pro (15-inch Late 2011 model) in Jan-2012. Two-three times, the screen would flicker and turn black... also got a message associated to graphic problem… so reported to Apple during the warranty period. The support folks said that it is a software problem, thus re-boot it and it worked for the time.
Now, I am in India and it just turned black. I tried resetting (command+option+p+r) but of no use. The Apple support person here says that the Graphic Processor is failed and needs to be replaced (may cost around US $1000).
I am out of apple warranty and do not want to spend such a big amount… can somebody please help?

Apple configurator installing wlan profile eduroam fails

i want to use apple configurator to install a wifi profile on some ipads. the preparing works but when i'm in supervising mode and try to install the profile there comes an error message with following error codes:
4001 profile installation fails
4001 profile couldn't be installed
1009 the profile "xxx" could not be installed
13000 wifi network "eduroam" could not be installed
13004 wifi network "eduroam" could not be configured for EAP
all i want is that the user has to enter his username and password when the wifi network appears because every staff member has it's own.

As far as the 16-port hub, I agree a larger one would be nice once I know what I'm doing but again I'm trying to be fiscally responsible with the tax-payer money we use. Many deployment models I read about online suggested keeping yourself to 15-20 devices at a time instead of going for the 30 device Apple says or the 49-port sync that Datamation has. I appreciate the feedback though. If this pilot expands I will feel more comfortable suggesting the purchase of additional equipment.
