Apple Configurator and VPP on Macbook Pro
Hi, i was wondering how can we deploy (if possible) the apps we buy from a account apple VPP on a macbook pro? not on ipad or itouch, just on a macbook pro.

My wife and I each have an apple ID and share one macbook pro. Is it possible to use the iCloud on our shared macbook pro and our two separate iPhone 5's and not get each others information confused?

Can you purchase 20+ apps on computer using apple configurator, but use only 10 with this group and use the rest on another computer running the configurator? I assume you would have to download again, but unclear if you can after using with config app.
Yes, there are two ways to do this.
1) just download the same spreadsheet into Configurator on two different Macs. They can have the same Apple ID or different Apple IDs. As each one installs apps, it tries the redemption codes in the list and skips over ones that have already been used.
2) Make a copy of the spreadsheet, open both in Numbers or Excel, and delete the first ten codes in one and the second ten codes in the other. Then import each into each copy of Configurator.
Remember that you'll need to use one redemption code to buy the app in iTunes for each AppleID you use, on top of the codes you need for installing the apps on devices. -

I have managed 20 iPad 2 (iOS 7.1.1), supervised, with Apple configurator.
Apple give me 4 spreadsheets with redemption code (free) for keynote, number imovie, pages.
I have downloaded these apps and pushed spreadsheets with redemption codes in Apple configurator. I have prepared and supervised devices, no error and no Apple ID or Password request. All seem ok .... but, when I try to run one of these apps, a windows with blanck Appla ID and password appears. If I try to put good Apple ID and password, window disapperas and app close, without error message.
What is wrong ?
I read in web tha App Configurator must call Apple and Password if there are present app with redemption codes, but it call me nothing.
Bothing seems wrong, no error message !

MarcoI think that you may have the answer already, contact iTunes Store Support. I see more users posting about purchasing problems with that game than I have ever seen with any other game or App since I have been participating here over two and a half years ago.

If you really want to try something other than contacting support, try signing out of your ID, restart the iPad and sign into your ID again. Then try to update the information again. I do believe that you will have to contact iTunes Store Support in order to resolve this. -

Anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID

I have got to stage below - i have 20 distribution codes imported but it wont let me tick the box for my VPP apps, only the free ones?

You could use an MDM solution like Meraki Systems Manager (free) http://www.meraki.com/products/systems-manager/ . Purchase VPP codes for your 1:1 teachers. Add the VPP codes to Meraki and distribute to teachers. That way the teachers wouldn't have to tie back to the AC computer. Meraki (and other MDMs) can do things wirelessly.
You could also email VPP codes to the teachers and have them redeem the codes with their own Apple IDs.
But to answer your question, yes you should create a separate VPP order for carts vs your 1:1 teachers.

I have a new McBook Pro with OS X Mavericks. I transferred my photos from my old MacBook Pro to my Apple TV. I turned on My Photo Stream on both my Apple TV and my new MacBook Pro, and I want to transfer my photos to my new MacBook. Will this work? It's not transferring them automatically, but I don't know what else I need to do to make it work. Thank you!
no you can't only option is to take it apart and put the harddisk in an usb ext harddisk case and connect it to the computer copy the photos to the computer
take the harddisk out of the ext usb harddisk case and put it back into the appletv and assemble it again -
I have a music library on an iMac and I got a new iPhone and a new MacBook Pro and I want some of the songs from the iMac library to be on my phone and my MacBook Pro and I have a new Apple ID on my phone and my Mac book pro, is this possible if so how do I do it?
Providing specifics on all the ways to do this will take more time than I am willing to spend here these days. You can do some of this with Home Sharing. You can transfer the entire library from one computer to another, If you do that you can delete what you don't want from the transferred library.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder. If you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there. (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)
You do not want to use a new AppleID. Change the AppleID on the new phone to the old ID. Purchases made with one AppleID cannot be transferred to a different one and it will be a royal pain to manage two Apple IDs.
Change iTunes Store account on an iOS device - Log out of your current account with Settings.app > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) > tap on your AppleID. Log in with a different account. I have set up our school ipads to be supervised by Apple Configurator and am using VPP to buy apps. I did this initially as our school internet connection was stopping us from being able to update the IOS and our County was offering a managed system, Lightspeed, which took control of every device in school which proved very expensive. I now find the supervised ipads do not allow the pupils to download photos or movies etc. As we frequently use the ipads as cameras this is causing us a problem. We have a school imac that I use to keep the devices updated with Apple Configurator (not connected to our network), and this doesn't seem to offer any solution to download them either. I was told there was a setting in Apple Configurator to allow other computers to download from supervised devices, but I can't see it anywhere. I am very new to this so any advice or help would be greatly appreciated please.
I assume you are wanting to take the photos and movies off the iPads?
Connect the iPad to a Apple computer. Open "Image Capture". Any photos or video can me imported to the desktop or other location on your computer.
I had this same problem last year and as we have no wifi I asked lots of people at Apple what I could do - no one provided this answer (a little unbelievable!). If you have wifi using something like dropbox would be an easier solution.

I tried that but on my iphone i can only click on my email and my number is checked but its in grey doesnt allow me click on it and on my Mac, its the opposite, my email is checked but in grey so doesnt allow me to click on it. im realy confused

The hinge between my screen and my computer (macbook pro retina) has cracked and doesn't hold the screen anymore. Can I fix it without changing my screen. And if it's still on guarantee does Apple have to repair it?
Apple can fix any and all of their computers. Whether it would be charged to you would be the question. Do you have AppleCare?
Accidental damage is not covered by AppleCare.

I did everything the article suggests. And for my macbook pro it works perfectly. But all the other devices (iphone 5, 4, Macbook Air) can't connect to the network. Anybody any idea's?
Try resetting your modem. Power it down. Wait a moment, then power it up again. While it resets, do not change what is connected to it.
In another, though unrelated article, Apple recommends the following:
If you have configured your Wi-Fi base stations in the past, it may be helpful to do a factory default reset of each Wi-Fi base station that will be part of the wireless extended network before you begin.
This step really ought not be considered optional for the configuration you propose. If the problem persists after resetting your modem, reset everything else too. -
Apple Configurator and iPad Set issue
Howdy Folks,
I have a dilemma.
I work at a Business School and we have 30 ipads managed (supervised) by Apple Configurator via a Mac Book Pro.
I had (still have) paid apps on this class set.
Unbeknownst to me, I upgraded the Macbook Pro to Mavericks thinking that the upgrade would work. Unfortunately it didn't and I had to re-install Mountain Lion. I'm not going to upgrade to Mavericks due to a Safari bookmark sync issue with another set of 30 ipads not managed by Configurator.
I'm going back through my purchases on the apple volume purchases website and I've downloaded the spreadsheets again.
The apps all have worked fine except for Dictate & Send (Dictamus). After importing the spreadsheet, it only has 1 license available. When I attempt to plug in the supervised iPads, I get a message saying 'computer says no'. I'm assuming this is because they were associated to the Mac before I had to re-install the OS.
I have no backup or files from the previous OS install.
I'm also assuming that in order to get the iPads to talk to the new configursator, I'll have to wipe them and then re-associate them with the new configurator. That will also mean that i'll lose the apps on them including Dictate & Send.
My question is ' Can I recover those licenses on the iPads for Dictate & Send, or do I need to purchase another 30 copies?'
Any help you can provide would be appreciated,

Frank.You don't need seperate IDs. When you log into icloud.com and use Find my iPhone, you'll be able to see a list of every single device associated with that ID. Just click on the devices tab in the top left. Here you can see I'm logged in with a list of many devices:

Hi,
Sorry if this is in the wrong section, there was no section to do with Apple Configurator or VPP at all.
I know that Apple Configurator was bought by Apple so I'm pretty sure it is ok to ask for support through this.
I have 1 dilema at the moment,
I have purchased 4 licenses for 3 different apps (4 of each to go to 4 devices).
And to import that list of codes that is on a spread sheet, in to Configurator, you must click on the 0 number, on the app in the app list, import the file, there ya go.
However... in order to get that app on your app list, you'd need to actually have downloaded the app on to the macbook.
So here is the question,
Doesn't that mean you'd need to download an extra of every single app, to put it on your macbook, which you'll never use, for the simple purpose of being able to deploy it to other devices?
I hope this has been clear, ill reply to any reponse this topic may get, as soon as possible, as long as it sends me an email to tell me someone replied.
