Apple Configurator using Incorrect name on lock screen.

We have been using apple configurator with pretty good sucess up unitll the 1.5 update that seems to have created an issue with the names it uses on the lock screens. This has caused some major confusion for our users to the point where we have had to stop using that feature. It seems to be using the name of the ipad that was used in the back up and not the name of the ipad itself. Before this we have had all of out ipads using the same backup and configurator would rename them correctly and use that name for the lock screen. Now it seems everytime the backup put on an ipad that ipad gets the name of the backed up ipad on the lock screen. The name in configurator itself and the name in the general > about is still correct however. It is only the name on the lock screen that has had this issue.

Glad you got it fixed!  My guess why your mom had the earlier honor is that she and you share last names, but her name is before yours alphabetically.  That's only a guess.
Enjoy Mountain Lion!

  • Using Apple Configurator 1.7.1 and lock screen picture

Apple Configurator 1.7.1 will no longer allow us to update or change the picture that will be push to the device for the lock screen within the application.  Has anyone else seen this issue?

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one with this problem.  Whether doing the prepare or refresh process the problem happened to several, but not all iPads in the Bretford cart.  Most recently with Yosemite and Configurator 1.7 I was a refresh to update to iOS 8.1.  Many of them were successful.  Some stalled and only completed updating if I exited Configurator and re-opened it.  The last group failed and went into Recovery Mode, requiring me to restore each one in iTunes.  Each restored iPad was then put back in the cart and refreshed, which installed the iOS all over again even though iTunes had just installed it during the recovery.  At least it didn't stall the second time around with the recovered iPads but it was a very time-consuming process to get all 30 iPads updated.

  • Timer shows incorrect hours on lock screen in iOS 7.0.4 (11B554a)

Majority of time, I only use timer to count down for 30 min or 45 min so I did not notice the problem.
However, when it came to 1 hour and 30 min, it displayed as 23:30:00 in the lock screen. Therefore I came back and checked again to make sure i did not slide to incorrect hour by mistake. I reset the time to 1 hour and 30 min but again it displayed as 23:30:00 in lock screen.
This time, I tried to do 23 hours and 30 min but it displayed as 21:30:00. Then, I tried 0 hours 30 min and it was normal 0:30:00. Also, I tried 3 hours and 30 min but again it displayed as 1:30:00, which was what i wanted but i was thinking what it displayed might not be the actual value it was counting down.
That's the question i wanted to leave to the expert to investigate.

  • When using the camera in lock-screen(double click home button), iPhone 4s somehow automatic Respring ?

Same as the topic! Need help APPLE

    Ok, Here is the problem.
When I want to use the camera of my iphone4S, then, I launch my camera app in my lock screen. My phone suddently turn into the restart screen(no apple logo) just springboard loading. Then the phone return to the lock screen as usual. This happen to me several times.

  • Is there a way to use the Passbook on Lock Screen with Touch ID?

I love having my boarding passes available in Passbook and being able to access from the lock screen.  I also like the Touch ID ability to unlock the phone without typing in the unlock code.   Now to get the two together.   When my passbook item shows up on the lock screen, I can right swipe the item and it takes me to the unlock screen.   Before I moved to the 5S it would open (e.g. boarding pass) without unlocking.  Now I have to type in the unlock code to get it to go directly to the Passbook item.   If I use the Touch ID to unlock, it merely unlocks the phone - no Passbook.   Any fixes to this?

Do you have Settings > Touch ID & Passcode > Allow Access Whne Locked: Passbook turned on?

  • Owncloud install from Apple Configurator using VPP codes?

    Hi
I am trying to install the Owncloud app onto a suite of iPads using Apple Configurator. I go through the normal process of downloading the app on my macbook and then uploading the codes into Apple Configurator.
The first iPad will install the app but subsequent attempts to install on other iPads results in an error 38 "unable to redeem code with itunes store" followed by an error 0 "Click ok to confirm that you are over 17". Presumably the first app installs because I clicked ok in itunes when downloading the app so it thinks the first code I redeem is ok.
There is nowhere on the iPad or iTunes to click "ok" with the failing installs.
I have set configurator to allow all apps in preferences (I tried choosing 17+ as well with the same result).
Is there any way to force Configurator to ignore age restrictions for app installs?
    Thanks

hope this helps...per Apple support doc
"If you do not already have a copy of the app on your computer, use the first redemption code in your spreadsheet to purchase it in iTunes. After using this code, re-download the spreadsheet and import it into Apple Configurator again. This allows Apple Configurator to automatically reassign this code to one of your devices."

  • Turn off an iPod configured with Apple Configurator and in supervise mode locked to one application.

I have configured an iPod touch using the Apple configurator. The iPod is set in supervisor mode and I have configured it to start one of our own apps. It works ok. But I can't turn off the iPod holding the on/off button as usual. I dont get the turn off slider. I can only turn the display off by clicking on the on/off button.
I want to be able to turn it off completely to save battery.
    /Per

I wouldn't suggest going to get it yourself. You could find yourself in a situation you cannot get out of and could get hurt. Second, as stated before, it is more for misplaced or lost devices, not stolen devices. Many police agencies do not feel they have probable cause, just from your statement on a map location to justify attempts to recover the device. There have been many posts from others who have had devices stolen where the police will not confront someone based on that map location. I understand you are impacted by the theft, but this is what we have insurance for. To protect your content, from now on I suggest you put a passcode on the device. I hope you have changed all of the passwords for accounts you had on the device, since all of your content and data was accessible to the thief.

  • HT5487 Apple configurator using VPP

    Hi,
Sorry if this is in the wrong section, there was no section to do with Apple Configurator or VPP at all.
I know that Apple Configurator was bought by Apple so I'm pretty sure it is ok to ask for support through this.
I have 1 dilema at the moment,
I have purchased 4 licenses for 3 different apps (4 of each to go to 4 devices).
And to import that list of codes that is on a spread sheet, in to Configurator, you must click on the 0 number, on the app in the app list, import the file, there ya go.
However... in order to get that app on your app list, you'd need to actually have downloaded the app on to the macbook.
    So here is the question,
Doesn't that mean you'd need to download an extra of every single app, to put it on your macbook, which you'll never use, for the simple purpose of being able to deploy it to other devices?
I hope this has been clear, ill reply to any reponse this topic may get, as soon as possible, as long as it sends me an email to tell me someone replied.
Thank you in advance for any and all help.

  • After IOS5 update on ipod 4G, unresponsive touchscreen after using assistive touch on lock screen

Well, after i installed the IOS5 update on my ipod 4G, everything seemed fine. That was until i tried using the assistive touch feature on lock screen to do a double finger gesture. Then, my entire touchscreen just died. It didnt work and i had to use buttons (voice control) to play my songs... so lame ><
Anyways this started as a question, but i found the solution... FACTORY RESTORE!!! but ok, just warning you guys dont try it. this is a bug i suppose that needs to be fixed. I
If anyone else has this issue, then heres the solution again, restore your IOS.

ok i cant replicate it so maybe it was only one time thing. BUT it still lags like crap when im on lock screen and i use the gestures.

  • When i open the cover of my ipad Air i get the home screen Im sure i used to get the lock screen

I have my iPad Air kept in a third party cover which operates the sleeep/wake function
I have just become aware that when i now open the cover, i get a home screen and not the lock screen
is this something that has changed with the intro of ios 8.1.3
I miss the time and date when i now open the cover

Just had some second thoughts on this
1/ My wife says her iPad2 does the same
2/ I think that if there are any notifications then the Lock screen will appear - will have to try this
3/ If i operate the sleep/wake button manually ( the button at the top RH it works ok
No big problem but something has changed

  • Apple Configurator and getting around "Activation Lock" iOS7

Our school district has just over 5,000 ipads of which 2500 of them are students 13 and over with Apple ID's. The 13 and over students activated find my ipad app upon ipad rollout at the beginning of the year with iOS6.1.3. Now when they either lock themselves out, which happens often I used to (iOS6.1.3) be able to have iTunes or Configurator blow out the lock out and the device was usable again as all of our devices were supervised by a MacBook of that respective school. Now you can't do anything to the device due to the activation lock. Seems like with the advent of iOS7 I know have to manage my devices with a chainsaw (complete re-provision) and loss of all data for student, instead of a scalpel with 6.1.3 and a simple touch with iTunes or Configurator.
I've read some other discussions on this where I.T. departments are having to get with their H.R. departments to have employees or students sign off on a lock out policy. Ridiculous! This is a major road block for districts trying to manage large quanity's of ipads. Has anyone come up with a technical work around for this?

my son got to my new iphone before i had chance to activate it created a crappy bogus email [email protected] first name fred last name flintstone 1905 or something like this for dob password that was like 20 random digits was basically messing with the phone so i thought oh well i will restore it now its asking for apple id f*****************@i**********.com
called apple told them what has happened
sorry sir you need to contact the person who activated the apple id to login to deactivate it i explained well its impossible it was all random **** i thought you have to confirm email before its activated the tech assistant said well if this is the case and cant remember opassword then the phone will never be activated you will simply have to purchase another phone anything else i can assist you with
and im not the only one here faced with similar circumstances

  • Do not remember my user name on locked screen

It all happened when i shut down my mac  !!
tried my apple ID , didnt work, tried  several mutation of my name ..still no luck

    thanks

Power on or restart your Mac.
At the chime (or grey screen), hold down ⌘ and S on your keyboard (two fingers) to enter single-user mode.
Type mount -uw / and press Enter.
Type launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.DirectoryServices.plist and press Enter.
Type ls /Users and press Enter. This lists all of the usernames on the computer. Look for yours and write it down.
    Type reboot and press Enter.
Log in with that user name and the password you recall.

  • Windows 8.1 Lock Screen drops network connectivity when screen locked using Win+L

    Hi!
I was sent here from Microsoft Community forum. The question is:
Since Windows NT 4.0 I'm using Lock Screen to prevent people from accessing my computer when I'm leaving my room. First I was using CTRL+ALT+DEL / Lock Screen, then switched to Win+L keyboard shortcut when it was first introduced.
Everything was fine until I switched to Windows 8.1 computer (Sony Vaio Duo 13 with Broadcom wireless network controller). This machine is 8.1, not 8.0 upgraded to 8.1.
My problem is that when I hit Win+L combo the Lock Screen (with clock etc.) is displayed. Then, despite I have configured not to turn off display, the screen goes blank (after 30 seconds since lock) and network connectivity is cut off from desktop
apps (I suspect the system goes into Active Standby mode, because Modern UI apps like Tune-In radio keep working fine).
    100% repeatable scenarios:
    ## Scenario 1 ##
    1) Log in
    2) Open desktop app that uses network connectivity. Outlook 2013 from Office365 subscription
    3) Check that it has connected
    4) Lock screen (Win+L)
    5) Wait for 30 seconds (first incorrectly posted as few minutes) as screen goes black
    6) Unlock screen (using password)
    7) In right corner of Outlook app you will see "Unable to connect with Exchange server" and few seconds later it will reconnect sucessfuly
    ## Scenario 2 - the more annoying ##
    1) Log in to Win 8.1 computer
    2) Connect to it using SMB (in my case I wanted to transfer 30 GB of files from local hard drive C: to server) \\COMPUTER-NAME\c$ from Windows Server 2012 R2
    3) Start copying files from computer to server
    4) Lock the screen on computer
    5) As soon as screen goes black server displays message "Lost connection to the resource. Try again?"
    6) Unlock screen on the computer
    7) Click "Try again" and it will continue copying files
My power settings are set to go into stand by after 5 hours and if I not lock the screen it doesn't go to sleep before 5 hours.
When I lock the screen using Win+L it goes into (probably Active) Standby mode.
Is there any way to prevent it from going to Active Standby when locking screen? I need the screen lock for security reasons but I don't want it to drop my network connectivity on remote desktops, file transfers and other desktop activities before 5 hour
    timeout.
This issue is not related to more or less known wireless network connectivity problem that happens to many Intel Haswell computers. Mine doesn't exhibit those problems. I can easly push 100 - 200 GB of wireless data without network drops.

    Best regards,
    Sergiusz

Same issue here using Surface 3 Pro with either internal WLAN or MS USB LAN Adapter. I'm frequently used to keep open connections over SSH to some servers. On switching to lock screen explicitly by pressing Win+L or implicitly due to idle timeout all
connections to servers are lost. In addition, I don't get any notifications on incoming Skype messages (using Skype for desktop) when lock screen is active.
Neither NIC is showing "Power Management Tab" according to step 5 of instructions above.
Additionally observing USB LAN NIC seems to be kept active after activating lock screen, but traffic stops (according to its flashing light) when lock screen is switching off display. Blanking display doesn't seem to be adjustable in System Settings (Energy
    Options accessed through Win+X).
Find attached log file of powercfg -energy -duration 300 ...
Log file is in German. It basically claims unset timeouts for deactivating display while running attached to power supply though lock screen is turning off displays within 1-2 minutes.

  • How can I use a photo I have taken for my lock screen properly?

I have tried to use a photo taken on my ipad as my lock screen picture. However, when I come to use the picture through settings and change picture, it displays the picture zoomed in and will not let me 'move and scale' it properly to include all of the picture or photo. It will only let me move the picture left or right. I have tried to take the photo many different ways using the camera including portrait, landscape, square shot. I have also tried to crop the picture before trying to use it as a lock screen shot but it then appears zoomed in even more! Help!

It's a glitch with iOS7. If you go in through the photos app and send the photo to be your wallpaper you have a bit more control, although not as much as you're used to.
its a work around until they fix it.

  • Used Apple Configurator to install free MDM app on unsupervised device - How will it update?

In hopes of cutting down deployment time, I am testing Apple Configurator to pre-install our MDM app (Worx Home by Citrix) on the iPhone/iPad. The devices will be unsupervised. I've searched through the documentation and can't find an answer to this question/scenario:
So I installed this App using my MacBook/Apple Configurator using my own Apple ID. What happens when the Worx Home app is updated and the end-user goes to update it? Will they be prompted for my Apple ID password?
If so, that seems a little bit... uh... short-sighted by Apple and very enterprise-unfriendly. There needs to be a way to pre-install a free app, such as an MDM product app, and have the end-user tie that app to their own Apple ID either when they open the App for the first time or update it the first time.

Wait unti the app is done downloading in your iTunes. Then go back to your VPP account and down load the spreadsheet again and upload into configurator. The process is a pain, but the only way it works for you to get all of your codes into configurator.
