Apple Configurator, VPP Codes, Import

We tried to import a VPP code spreadsheet but when it came in it had some text that weren't codes.
It was suppose to have 20 codes and now it is showing 21.
One of the codes says https://buy.itunes.apple.com/.........
When I looked in the spreadsheet there was text in there that someone must have typed in.
Is there a way to clear the codes that were imported to Apple Configurator and redo the import after clearing out the text in the spreadsheet.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • HT5194 Apple Configurator, VPP code and Hardware failure

We use VPP for many iPads, but the likely hood of one of those being damaged/stolen/lost is high (devices imaged and deployed to multiple, and changing users) and we don't want to loose a VPP code each time one of our devices needs to be replaced due to damage, lost or stolen. Can Apple Configurator handle this situation w/o buying a new VPP code each time a new iPad is brought into the environment? I have read that backing up the configurator database should handle the issue if the MAC managing the devices and running the configurator  goes down and needs to be replaced, but what about the actual devices themselves?
    Thanks.

    Hi cdgoodlett,
Your questions address a feature that many of us want Apple to support...the ability to recover and/or redistribute VPP codes, which is so important especially in schools. However, the process you are asking for is currently unsupported by Apple and most MDM providers. Currently the only way to recover VPP codes is to remove the app from Supervised iPad(s) using Apple Configurator. If you don't have the iPad, you can't recover the VPP code(s). So yes (unfortunately) if the iOS devices is lost/stolen/broken then the VPP redemption codes are lost.
If you were in a situation where a large number of devices were stolen all at once (like a whole cart or multiple carts), you may be able to call Apple Store support for Education at 1-800-800-2775 and explain the situation. I have heard of circumstances where VPP codes have been returned/recovered but that is a rare circumstance.
I know its not the answer you wanted to hear, but I hope this answers your question.

  • Apple configurator will not import redemption codes

Apple configurator is not importing codes for several of the apps that we have already purchased. The only thing I can tell with this specific example is the name of the application has changed since original purchase. The name of the application is currently KidCalc 7-in-1 Math Fun (Including Valentine's
Day, Easter and Birthday Party Themes).
In another instance I get the same message for an application that is named EXACTLY as it should be. Is anyone else experiencing problems with importing their VVP codes? Our school can't affort to rebuy these apps.

There's more info under the iPhone discussion - same problem.

  • Apple Configurator - Redeem Code Upload

I am trying to upload redeem codes for iMovie that I received from the VPP.  I had to use StuffIT explanader to open the .zip file that I was sent.  The files were then expanded to a .xlsx format.  Apple Configurator (1.4.3) did not recognize this file type so I saved it as a .xls file.  However, Apple Configurator could no longer read the file properly as I got the following error message.
Unable to import redemption codes for “iMovie”.
The spreadsheet provided has redemption codes for “iMovie”. Please provide a spreadsheet with codes for “iMovie”.
Any suggestions on waht might be going wrong here?

  • Apple Configurator VPP "app not authorized" error

Hi, I’m new to using Apple Configurator and VPP licensing for setting up iPads for our business. In a nut shell I had several free apps and a couple VPP apps imported and deployed to several iPads with no problems. Everything seemed to be working great until I went to import some additional apps from my iTunes folder and accidently re-imported the entire folder. Once the entire folder was import “overriding all the existing apps and VPP apps” I could no longer re-deploy any of the VPP apps to the iPads –I am getting an “app not authorized” error for only the VPP apps. I then tried to remove and re-import all the apps, re-import the VPP licenses, check-in and check-out the iPads, deleted and re-downloaded apps under iTunes, etc. (just about every troubleshooting combination) with no luck.
Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

The database in which Apple Configurator records the use of redemption codes is your only record of the valid use of those codes. Be sure to maintain a backup of the Mac on which you use Apple Configurator.
If you lose the Apple Configurator database, your users will retain rights to use the apps already installed on devices, and you can reimport any spreadsheets to install additional apps on devices using unredeemed codes. But if an app is deleted from a device after you lose the database, Apple Configurator will be unable to determine the device’s rights to that app, and you will need to redeem another code in order to reinstall the app.

  • Apple Configurator VPP Australia

    Hello,
I am using Apple Configurator to install free apps to 38 iPads for use in a primary school in Australia. The VPP is not available in Australia (as of writing), and I wish to distribute apps that we purchase to the iPads. Can Apple Configurator be used to do that? If not, what is the recommended approach? If just some of the iPads were to access the iTunes account to purchase apps outside of using the Configurator program, would the paid apps remain on the iPads when reconnected to the MacBook originally used to install free apps to the iPad?
Education dollars are hard to come by, but in the interim, I will just have to spend the money to download onto each iPad and install the apps required.
Any help with this Apple Configurator program, VPP, and paid apps install appreciated.
    Many Thanks,
    Richard

  • Apple Configurator Redemtion Codes Spreadsheet format

I need to supply a spreadsheet for Apple Configurator with redemtion codes to a customer. The customer lives in a non-VPP country and is not able to use VPP to buy the licenses.
Where can I find a description of the spreadsheet format used by Apple Configurator in order to generate the spreadsheet my self?
A sample file would also be great.

I've got support from Apple Germany. It seems to be a problem of version 1.1.2 of Apple Configurator and Mountain Lion 10.8.2
As mentioned above I had the same problem using 10.7.4 and 10.7.5 and Configurator 1.1.2. Apple Germany sent me a different spreadsheet, where I've put my codes in and it worked. Strange but true.
Other story, I bought 50 redeem codes, after installing 22 iPads it stopped, telling me that there are no more redeem codes left ?
    Good luck contacting Apple directly

  • Apple Configurator error code 2003 MCCAndMNCs is invalid

    Hi,
I have updated my MBP to OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) and installed the latest Apple Configurator (AC) 1.7.1.
I have an existing Profile that includes one (1) payload: Wi-Fi. This profile is used for Passpoint (HS2.0).
In the previous version of AC (1.6 I think), the profile I created worked (iPhone 5S with iOS 7 installed, AC on OS X Mavericks).
Here are the most important fields from the Payload:
    Security Type is: WPA2 Enterprise
    EAP type field is: EAP-AKA
MCC/MNCs field is: MCC=505, MNC=1 (I can't input 01 into this field, and the MNC is meant to be 2 digits, but the AC just replaces it with 1)
When I try to re-install this Wi-Fi Profile on an iOS8, the AC complains with the following error:
Has anyone seen this error before?
Where can I get a list of error codes that the Apple Configurator (1.7) uses?
    Are there any workarounds available?
    Thanks,
    Al

  • Apple configurator: how to import free apps?

I have purchased (free) 10 Microsoft Remote Deskop apps from Apple Volume purchasing for education.  I am using Apple Configurator 1.7.1 on Yosemite. How do I add this app to Apple configurator so I can send them to our iPad Mini's? Apple Configurator Help suggests downloading the app to itunes.  How do I do this as my volume purchasing id doesn't work with itunes as it needs to be a separate account? We do not have an apple deployment solution.

You could use a MDM, mobile device management, such as the free Meraki to distribute VPP apps.

  • Apple Configurator Question

I have accidentally deleted the app in AC which contain VPP codes, and after I reimported the app back to AC, it seems that I can no longer reassign to any devices or remove the app from device or retrieve redemption code...
    Help please!!!

I haven't experienced this before, but here's what I would try if I was in your shoes...
Re-download the VPP spreadsheet from Apple. Re-add the app from iTunes into Apple Configurator under the Supervised tab (you will have to redeem one VPP code to download the app in iTunes, unless you've already redeemed the code with the Apple ID authorized in iTunes in which case you can download it from your past purchases. Remember the Apple ID used to authorize iTunes must be the same Apple ID that you use in Apple Configurator). Re-import the codes into Apple Configurator. Try synching again. The reason to do this is that Apple Configurator doesn't actually "use" the codes. It is just keeping a record of the codes. You use one code in iTunes on the computer to download the .ipa file. Then import that .ipa file into Apple Configurator. When you re-import the new VPP code spreadsheet into Apple Configurator it should show that you have all codes available as long as you are using the same Apple ID in iTunes that you are in Apple Configurator. (the key word here being "should")
If this doesn't work, contact VPP for Education support. Explain your situation and ask them to restore your VPP code(s). They will. Here's the online form: https://ssl.apple.com/support/itunes/vpp-edu/
    Hope this helps. Good luck!!

  • Proper Backup of Apple Configurator

Has anyone else tied the Apple desktop or laptop they configured to use with Apple Configurator to a backup system yet and tried restoring?  I have read this Apple KB article, but wanted to know if there are any gotchas or anyone experienced anything else that was detrimental in their backups.  It says just to the ~/Library/Application Support/com.apple.configurator directory is important, but this is a departure from the iPhone Configuration Utility where Apple representatives warned us about ever removing that device, because the certificates for signing profiles could never be exported to another system (despite certificate export utilities).  I do not know if I should be so worried, so I was curious if anyone else had experience.

I haven't tried what you are asking specifically "Has anyone else tied the Apple desktop or laptop they configured to use with Apple Configurator to a backup system yet and tried restoring?"
but I have moved the com.apple.configurator folder to other user accounts and computers and had Configurator work correctly under the other accounts and on the other computers.
The reason I've done this is because I've set up several mobile iPod carts. I originally prepared the iPods on an admin account on a MacBook that is with each cart. Then I moved the com.apple.configurator folder to the generic account that teachers and the school tech will use to manage the iPods at the schools. Apple Configurator hasn't complained about the move to a different user account.
I've also had to do some troubleshooting as I was learning to use Apple Configurator, so I would move the com.apple.configurator folder from the MacBook I was working on to my own computer, and once again, Apple Configurator worked without complaints, and retained all the settings, apps, etc. that I had set up in it on the MacBook.

  • Getting logs from Apple Configurator / Can't install in house app

Does anybody know how to get logs out of the Apple Configurator?  I'm evaluating it for deployment of an in house app to 100 ipods.  My tests are returning a simple message stating "Can't Install App" which doesn't help me at all.  It would be nice to see a log of WHY it didn't install.
    Thanks.

I'm guessing nobody has this working?
To get the error message look in the Console app and filter for configurator on all messages, when i try to install i get the error...

  • When importing a spreadsheet with redeem codes into apple configurator, it says it's not the right codes for the app.  But it is the right codes. I used one of the codes to purchase the app in itunes.

I have a cart of 25 ipads with a macbook air.  I have logged into my VPP account and purchased the needed number of copies.  I downloaded the spreadsheet.  I took the first code from the spreadsheet, and logged into itunes using a regular account (not my VPP account), and used the code to download the app.  I put the app into configurator and then tried to add the spreadsheet with the codes in it.  It comes up and tells me that it is not the correct spreadsheet for that app. But it is the correct spreadsheet!!  I tried re-downloading the spreadsheet again and even tried re-downloading the app.  So I've now used two of my redeem codes and still can't get it to accept it into apple configurator.  I removed the app from apple configurator and re-added it.  The error message says it's not the right codes for the app "Grammar Games by Tap To Learn" and to please get the codes for "Grammar Games by Tap To Learn."  It's the same one!

It won't let me edit my post, so I'm typing this reply to add...
I tried taking the version number out of the title. It looked like there were two spaces in the title "Grammar Games  by Tap to Learn". So I even made sure that matched. I still can't import my codes. Any other things to try would be really appreciated.

  • HT200046 How do I delete VPP codes from Apple Configurator 1.4?

I have updated Apple Configurator to 1.4, and have "null" VPP codes.  I have imported new codes from VPP, but can't delete the "null" codes.  I believe the null codes are interferring with the new codes.

    Hi adrienne_d,
This is a known issue (the "null" VPP codes). There's another thread addressing this:

If you click View, Show Sidebar you will see the other libraries under Shared in the left hand column. Click on the Library you want and you can expand it to select Music, Movies etc. Select whatever items you want and click import if you want to move them to your Library.
You will have to have all computers authorised with the relevant Apple ID's
    Store  >  Authorise this computer...
This is separate from the Home Sharing username and password and is to allow playing of DRM Movies, TV shows etc from the other computer.
If both Computers use the same apple id this step is not required.
