Apple continues to ask me to create a New Username

I have nearly given up on Apple, and group them right in there with MS & Android. Nearly complete product, but not enough to make me buy again. Why can't software for the masses work properly, but thats another discussion...
Apple ID entered, Create New Username, when I already have one that I couldn't remember.
I've had the same issue with my Apple ID for the past year, as many others here have posted. Now when I wanted to post in this Community Support Arena, I couldn't because I could not get past this "Create new Username" issue. And since I couldn't access the community for help, I had to search elsewhere. Resulting in confirmation of the problem, not solutions for it.
So, something strange happened. While searching/renewing my Apple ID/password (which was a confusing/misleading process). I kept coming across the screen indicating I had multiple email addresses attached to my Apple accounts. One old account had my old/alternate email address. I figured if I can't log on with my current address, then perhaps I should attempt with this old account. Very strange, but when I did this it worked, but it took me to my current user profile, displayed my existing Username and below it displayed my regular email address, which is the current email address I use, and not the one I logged in with. Short term solution of unknown origin.
So when I leave tonight and log off, I don't know which email address to log in with next time, or if I'll be running in circles again. It takes a fair bit to confuse me, but I get tired and frustrated when simple things aren't simple, or simply don't work. Companies that like to pocket profits and produce a flawed product, seem to get away with it. Software just makes me sick. These companies are like Surgeons with their bad beside manners.
Unfortunately, if everyone is equally as bad, they all win.

Apple removed one of one of my last inquiries because it contained unwanted negative attention.
They claimed it contained feedback or feature requests, that it won't capture the attention it deserves, when it actually contained an inquiry to my inability to connect my ipod touch, and complaints against their products. Protectionism at its finest. Perhaps another reason I'm looking for a different brand to support. Maybe I should have noted the lack of spell check inside this forum application. I'm curious to see what they'll do about this little post. Perhaps ban my account which is inaccessable anyway. That's been a source of unnecessary frustration for a year now. Go Apple! when its your time to shine and show professionalism, you push one off a cliff. Nice!

    The last thing you want is a second iCloud account. Try logging out and back in in System Preferences. If that doesn't work, I'd get AppleCare on the line.

    Booted up and Mail asks me to create a new account. It's as if I had never had a mail account before. I have had this one operating for years, and all of a sudden it needs me to enter all the info I have for multiple email accounts.

    Thank you Airmail...this got me a little way toward a solution but is a bit over my head! (not techy here).
    Since my address book looks fine, I followed the "lost/corrupt" directions. I located the pref file and see several "mail.account" lines there (a server and identity for each email address??)
    The next sentence in the instructions confused me. If I DO find mail.accounts, what then? Do I need to then go on to #1 and #2 below, back up and find a new copy of the js prefs file? How and where would I find a new copy?

  • After complete reset of iPod after lockout,  I cannot retrieve old gamecenter ID.  how can I use my old account for gamecenter now that we have had to create a new username?

    We had to create a new username for gamecenter using the same apple ID.  We want to use the old gamecenter account....we have purchased in-app items for those games and now have no access to that account.  How can I fix this?  Or am I just out of luck and start over with the new username.....

    You are running into the Activation lock and you need to enter the Apple ID and password for the account last used on the iPod.

    Owner status on POST PAID is not the same as PRE PAID.
    on prepaid you can get any device you like.
    But you pay upfront.
    People on post paid get the advantage of reduced priced devices on contracts. Prepaid is no contracts.
    Any carrier will function the same way. Go online and check out Verizon pre paid policy and then look at the other carriers.
    Maybe prepaid from Walmart or Boost Mobile, or Cricket etc. would be best for you. Pay for all you can eat calling, texting and data for one low price. Say $45-$55  and buy the phones they offer.

  • Why is iTunes 11.1 asking me to create a new library every time I open it?

    Every time I open iTunes 11.1 I have to load my library file manually...it does not just open automatically.  It asks if I want to create a new library or load a previous library each time I open the application.   I fixed permissions on my hard drive but it does not seem to help.  Also, Safari is acting strange...when I click on a link in a page it downloads the HTML file instead of opening the new link.  Lots of quirky stuff happening!  Had to restore my HD last night from Time Machine...still acting weird.

    Option 1
    Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
    This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

    Sort of.
    - Apps and other purchases are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - You have to log into the account opd do certain things with the purchases like transfer then to your computer.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.
    Try recovering yur PS for the first axccount so y can change the email address.

    Let me see if I've gotten this right! You want to remove an account from BOTH machines? Do this for your new machine first, then for the other.
    Click the Apple logo on the top left of the screen, System Preferences, Users and Groups (under Systems), unlock the lock in the window if its locked (you need to know the password), select the user that you wish to remove, and click the - sign next to the + sign for Login options. A window will pop up with some options. Select Delete this user and securely, and click 'Delete user'.
    After this, do an update from the App Store.
    Thats all there is to it.
    For the other machine repeat the process except for one thing. Before you delete the user in this case YOU, you will have to give Administrator priviledges to your son bu checking the box 'Allow user to administer this computer'.
    Do NOT do anything from Finder ... if you dont know how to fix the consequences of the problems caused.
    There is no need to unauthorize your iTunes account on your new machine. Do it on the old machine though.

  • HT1338 I have updated my software and everything else I think I need to do.  I am having a problem connecting to Facetime on my Mac Pro Book.  I have tried using my Apple ID and I have tried creating a new ID but it doesn't work.

    I just bought a New Apple Pro Book.  Tried getting Facetime up and working with no luck.  Won't accept APPLE ID and won't accept a new account.  Tried to buy app thinking it was that but told me it was already installed on the mac.  Do I have to fix a setting or something that I am not aware of.

    You can use the same AppleID for App Store purchasing Apps, Books and Music. (So you can share between family members, no need to re-purchase)
    But for other Apple services like FaceTime, Message, Game Center (next Mac OS release)  etc You should use a different Apple ID.
    To start, you need an e-mail address (Gmail from Google, Yahoo from Yahoo,  or Hotmail from Microsoft: there are all free). Use the browser for example to search for gmail.
    1. Create an e-mail account following the instruction given. (Take note of email address you created and password use, password should include numbers, letters and uppercase letter)
    2. Test that new e-mail account by sending a test email to that account (GMail mails can be view using the browser)
    3. use this link to create a new Apple ID: https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/ using the new e-mail address you created.
    Not wanting to overload you. After you have all that come back here again and we go from there.

    TThen when you set up the phone create new   I.D.  You will lose everything though and have to start from scratch. Contacts etc

    Under normal circumstances, an uninstall/reinstall doesn't touch your content. (That being said, it's still always a good idea to maintain a current backup at all times in case of disasters of any sort.)
    I've never lost an account balance after an uninstall/reinstall.

    iCloud has nothing to do with text messages. You need to open the Messages app for that. Messages requires OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion), so you will need to purchase that upgrade if you don't have it already.

    Go to Manage your Apple ID and change the current Apple ID back to the old email address (do not verify it - this is only temporary. Do not change your password)
    Once you have changed it to the old ID, use your current password to proceed
    Once you have completed what you are trying to do, change your Apple ID back to the new ID
