Apple Default Admin Password?

Howdy
I had my MP brought in to Apple this week to have a hard drive replaced. It was returned to me today (WOO!) and the Genius Bar went ahead and installed OS X for me, however they set up an account as Admin and didn't tell me the password. Is there a default password that is commonly used?
I've tried:
password
admin
Open to suggestions, thanks all!

Please stop trying. This was not the way the OS X should have been pre-reinstalled in the first place. So take the MP straight back to Apple. Demand that they do right. Refuse to pay them again, if they ask.
When OS X is pre-installed by Apple, they stop at the "Welcome to OS X" window that asks the user to complete to installation.

  • How to change default admin password on Cisco Aironet 1040

How do I change the default username and password on the Cisco Aironet 1040. There is a default set and I want to change that to secure the device. I've checked the manual and can't seem to find the directions. Any ideas?

    Hi Brian,
If this AP is already registered with a WLC then you can change it via WLC.
In WLC GUI, go to Wireless -> Select the AP -> Credential -> Override Global Credential-> Update username/pw/enable pw
In WLC CLI, you can configure it like this. If it is for all APs, then select all, otherwise AP name.
    (WLC3) >config ap mgmtuser add username admin password Cisco123 secret Cisco123 ?
all            Applies the configuration to every AP that does not have a specific user name.
Enter the name of the Cisco AP.
(WLC3) >config ap mgmtuser add username password secret
    (WLC3) >save config
Are you sure you want to save? (y/n) y
If it is Autonomous AP you can configure using the "username xxxx password xxx" IOS command

    Hello NJ,
I tried your solution and its a very good workaround for the workbooks stored in the Database, but when i open workbooks from file system then Discoverer defaults the export path to the Directory from where we have opened the workbook.
My clients are having most of their workbooks stored in File system & stored at different locations. So i wonder if there is just one common solution if possible?
    Thanks

    Hello Denmark calling.
    Solution for you’re:
ThinkPad USB 3.0 Secure Hard Drive problem.
In order to set the Admin pass, you will have to do the following
    1. Press 0+OK for 5 sec, enter "12345678" and OK       = BLUE LED   (Admin mode)
    2. Press OK+9                                                                        = BLUE LED flashes
    3. Enter admin code with correct fashion, and then OK = BLUE LED flashes   (and now most important)
    4. Re-enter admin code, and OK                                        = BLUE LED.
This must be done before attempting to change user password. (Obvious reasons)
    For User code change.
This can be changed by accessing the admin mode first = BLUE LED
    And then
    1+OK                                                                                            = BLUE LED flashes
Re-enter user code and OK                                                    = BLUE LED
For User code and Admin code there is not mentioned any reference online reference supplied by Lenovo, which tells the new proud owner the correct way to alter standard codes.
But let it be said that in my humble opinion this is a (almost) great product (SSD would make the difference for me personally)
    Hopes it helps

  • How do I change the admin password in SJSWS 7.0?

I've googled this, searched the forums, read the manual, but I haven't found anything that explained how to change the admin password for SJSWS 7.0. So, right now I'm stuck with "adminadmin" as the password, which I think is the default since I don't remember specifying that during install. Clearly I can't use this in production with the default admin password... sorry if this is a rtfm question, but I really didn't see anything in the manual about changing the admin password. Thanks!

You could use the following CLI command:-
    wadm> set-admin-prop --set-password
    More information about the command:-
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-3283/set-admin-prop-1?a=view
You could also use Administration console-
    - Login to the Administration Console and click on the Nodes tab
    - In the Nodes page, click on the Administration Server link within the Nodes table
    - Go to "Administration Server Preferences" section in the General page and change the password

I thought I could change it via HSS but when I open the properties menu, there is no option to change password,
Does anyone know a different way?

    and replace with Password123

  • Cannot start Essbase once admin password is changed

    Hi
I have come into an organisation where all applications were created using the default admin / password credentials. I am wanting to tighten security by changing the password of the admin account. I can do this easily in Shared Services, however when I stop and start the Essbase service, I get the following error "Essbase Product Existence Check Fails against the Shared Services Server with Error Unable to Authenticate.".
In the HSS log I get:
    10-Dec-2009 15:59:55, /files, HEAD, 500 "Internal Server Error", 63 ms, %v
    10-Dec-2009 16:00:26, /files, HEAD, 401 "Unauthorized", 0 ms, %v
com.hyperion.interop.AuthenticationException: Could not authenticate user 'CSSToken'. Please ensure the username and password is correct.
I have searched these forums and found threads to load Essbase service in the foreground (isnt this startEssbase.cmd?) and it says I can change the load up admin password there. However when I do that, I dont get that option.
If I change the password back to the default password, I can get Essbase back up and running no problems.
Can someone please tell me how to change the password for admin that Essbase uses to authenticate with Shared Services?
    Thanks
Edited by: PLIM on 9/12/2009 21:33

its a longshot, but stop the Essbase service, then bring Essbase up in the foreground (from a command window, type Essbase) When it opens it should prompt for the Essbase password. Put in your password (which sounds like it is password). If you type help it will show you the available commands . One of which is Password. It allows you to reset the Essbase password. Try changing it here then in shared services and see if you can connect

  • Homehub 2.0b - lost admin password

It's a long story that I won't bore you with, but at the end of it I ended up with a Homehub 2.0 model B with no sticker on the back. Being the model B the password isn't repeated on the bottom label, so I'm now stuck without admin access.
Is there any way of getting the password from BT, or is the router good for nothing but the bin?
    Mike
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hey - I've fixed it - and this will work for others:
On the bottom label of the Homehub 2.0B is a 2D barcode - it's in DATA_MATRIX format (i.e. not a QR code).
In desperation I got an app called "Barcode Reader" from the Android Market for my Hero. It decoded the barcode and produced 5 separate text strings, separated by slashes. The second one appears to be the wireless key, the third is the serial number, and the fifth is the default admin password. I've now been able to log into the hub and change the password.
    Hallelujah!

  • A30 Startup - Admin Password

    Hi
    My A30 won't start.
When I try to run the recovery console it asks for the administrator password. Windows XP Home does not ask for an admin password during initial power-on/setup, so I don't know what the admin password is and I can't repair my machine.
What is the default admin password shipped with Toshiba A30 machines? This was purchased from PC World in Croydon
    Regards
    GPSLT

    Hello
Every Toshiba notebook is delivered with preinstalled OS and recovery CD or DVD. Recovery CD or DVD contents an image for OS reinstallation and it is not a WXP full version. Like Nicky said Toshiba dont ship the notebooks with any kind of password.
As far as I know if you have a Windows XP Recovery CD-ROM (Microsoft full version), then you may not have the option to select "Recovery Console". For such cases, Microsoft has made the Windows XP setup process (to get to the Recovery Console) available as a download via Q310994 in different languages (note: there are different downloads for the Home and Professional Edition). You have to execute the download file, which will create 6 boot floppies. You then can boot from the first floppy: You will get first the message: "Setup is inspecting your computer's hardware configuration..."
If your notebook is a new one and if you have any kind of questions please contact your local seller because they are obligated to help you and give you a right advice. If there is some hardware malfunction or any kind of damage you can also contact Authorized service partner in your country.
    Bye

  • TS3742 My apple after the startup and holding p+r + control+ option goes to a screen with a locked padlock and a space for me to type I've entered my admin password but nothing seems to happen and it can't get my iMac into safe mode or anything this is al

My iMac at start up goes to the apple logo with the spinning symbol under neath it.
After a while it goes into a screen with a prohibited symbol.
I can't boot it into safe mode or single user mode only thing I can do is press the control, option and p,r keys and that leads me to a locked screen with a bar under neither it for me to type a password or something I've tried my admin password many times and nothing happens
    WHAT DO I DO

Sounds like you have a firmware password set.
As you can't do that accidentally, you surely must know the password (which is different from your admin password)?

  • I have OS X 10.8.5 trying to upgrade. Have downloaded latest OS X Maverick but to install I am prompted for the Admin Password. I don't believe one was ever set up. I have tried my Apple Id Password but not accepted, Advice appreciated.

My system is Mac HD OX S 10.8.5. I want to upgrade 10.9.1 and have downloaded it. However, to install it I am prompted for the Admin Password. I don't believe one was ever set up. I have tried my Apple Id Password but not accepted, Advice appreciated?

If you have 10.8.5 you don't have a PowerPC Mac (PPC).  PPC is for pre-2006 Macs.   Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac to make sure you have an Intel Mac and that you didn't flip the 5 and 8 in your operating system indication.  If you actually have 10.5.8 but you have Intel it gets a lot more complicated to install 10.9.
10.5.8 is the maximum for PowerPC.
10.6 can be upgraded on Intel with this tip:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2455
And it also help you get up to 10.6.6 or 10.6.8 as needed.
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6271
will help someone with 10.5.8 determine if they are ready to jump to 10.7 or later.
If you have 10.8.5, you must install 10.9.0 first (free from the Mac App Store) to get to 10.9.1.
    Backup your data:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-1992
and check http://www.roaringapps.com/ and your printer, scanner, and peripheral  drivers are compatible with third party vendors before upgrading to 10.9.
