Apple digital av adaptor

Very upset because we tried a lot of things and it is  not our TV since it works with the iTouch 4. We called tech support who made us reset iPad. still not working. then went to apple store and technician said : "It works!!" went back home and it still does not work with the iPad. It only works with the iTouch 4( does not mirror though. works only for you tube video and netflix).
When we try the iPad 2 Netflix says " no volume available" and tv says at the beginning no input. We need help !
May be we will try exchanging the adaptor like a previous user said. That's our next step!!!

  • Apple Digital AV Adaptor for iPad1

    Hello to everyone!
I need some nformation about the item in the object (Apple Digital AV Adaptor): I'd like to use it in order to view videos on my TV via HDMI cable! My question is: will I be able to do it even if I have an iPad 1 (so the mirroring feature is not supported) and I'll use the app "OPlayer HD" to watch my videos? I'm not sure (the info I found on the web are not so clear) but I fear that on the iPad 1 the only apps that are compatible with the cable are "Images" and "Videos" (the ones made by Apple that we find by default on the device) and none of the third party apps! Am I right? Please...tell me I'm not!! ;)
Thank you very much and in advance for all your kind replies!

  • Problems with Apple Digital AV Adaptor

I have purchased an adaptor to plug my ipad into the tv with a HDMi cable and there's sound on the tv but no picture. Any ideas?

From all threads regarding this adapter, try and fidget with it and make sure it's truly, completely plugged into the iPad.
Reports are that it can be easily disconnected with the slightest movement of the iPad.

  • Problem with Digital AV Adaptor and iPad 2

I have lent my friend my Apple Digital AV adaptor to use with her iPad 2 but it is behaving strangely. Mirroring works correctly to her 720p TV (displaying the iPad interface in 4:3 ratio) but when she tries to play a video from shared iTunes library (the video is 720p 16:9 ratio) it plays with borders all around the edge. It looks like the iPad is playing it back within the 4:3 display, so therefore adding back borders to the top and bottom in addition to those already on the 16:9 display at the sides.
Has anyone else experienced this? Why won't it play full screen on a 16:9 display?

Update: Same problem when using iPad 3.

  • IPhone4 & Apple Digital AV Adapter - doesn't work

    Hi,
maybe somebody got an idea -
I bought Apple Digital AV Adapter for my iphone4. Looking at the specs everything should work smoothly. Compatible with iPhone4, should mirrow the screen.
As next step I connected it to my projector - unfortunately I was not able to display anything on the projector
From the shop I received a new cable (they could not test it and they thought it might be broken). Today I tested it again and I was not able to display anything on the screen even with the new cable. I noticed that I am able to play audio on my projector. Not exactly what I was looking for but at least a sign of signal.
Also I tried with searching for signal on my projector - it selects hdmi goes off the bluescreen mode and displays then just black.
Would be great to get a hint or an answer, since the lads in the shop could not help further.
    Thanks,
    Tomasz

Thanks - you've been right - this adaptor does not mirrow the screen. What I have been reading on the web is that you will need to jailbreak your iphone. For some reasons apple does not allow this feature, not sure why.

  • Can I use  the Lightning Digital AV Adaptor via my ipad mini to show Netflix on my TV?

Can I use  the Lightning Digital AV Adaptor via my ipad mini to show Netflix on my TV?
    Thanks

    Hello brianrice,
From the product page at the Apple store for the Lightning Digital AV Adaptor:
Use the Lightning Digital AV Adapter with your iPad with Retina display, iPad mini, iPhone 5, and iPod touch (5th generation) with Lightning connector. The Lightning Digital AV Adapter supports mirroring of what is displayed on your device screen — including apps, presentations, websites, slideshows, and more — to your HDMI-equipped TV, display, projector, or other compatible display in up to 1080p HD.
It also outputs video content — movies, TV shows, captured video — to your big screen in up to 1080p HD. Simply attach the Lightning Digital AV Adapter to the Lightning connector on your device and then to your TV or projector via an HDMI cable (sold separately).

I am considering buying a  Lightning Digital AV Adapter for my iPad 4 and a hdmi cable to connect my iPad to my television.  Will I be able to therefore watch ilovefilm instant from my iPad on my HDTV?

Should have mentioned that it was the new Lightning Digital AV Adaptor that I bought and that the people at the Apple store assured me it would work with my iPad Mini

  • Anyone able to play Amazon Instant Video using Apple Digital AV Adapter

Amazon just released the Amazon Instant Video app for the iPad July 31, 2012. Version is 1.0
It's not a great app yet. I can get it to play on the iPad (by itself). When I hook up the iPad to the TV using the Digital AV Adapter, the app gets very unstable, crashes at times, doesn't load shows....basically doesn't work. Virtually everything else on the iPad displays fine on the TV using the adapter. I've tried Safari, Netflix, and a couple of games just to see if the problem was with the iPad or the app. The problem is with the app.
I emailed Amazon support via feedback within the app, and got responses back similar to this:
"I'm so sorry for the trouble you facing with the Instant videos which you want to play on TV.
I understand now a days all the TV's are HDMI connected but I assure you that we are working for the improvements required on this field.
The Amazon Instant Video app for iPad does not support playback on HDMI-connected TVs.
Customer feedback like yours helps us continue to improve the service we provide. I've forwarded your feedback to our Amazon Instant Video team for consideration as we make future improvements."
I find it hard to believe they designed it to not work that way-I replied and asked them if it was...have not heard back yet.
Has anyone been able to view Amazon Instant Video on their TV from an iPad ? If yes, how did you do it.?

<"The makers of the app tell you it does not work that way, you think they are lying to you?">
Where did you read that the app doesn't support this?  Their app description says it does not support AirPlay. I'm not using AirPlay. It doesn't mention anywhere that it doesn't support iPads connected to TVs with HDMI, except in a support email response back to me.
With the iPad hard wired to the TV with the Apple Digital AV Adapter and an HDMI cable, on all of the other apps I've tried, the TV mirrors the iPad display. Even the few free games I tried would do this. This app falls apart when you hook up the HDMI to the iPad. To me that's a bug. I find it hard to believe that they designed it to not put out compatible digital video from the iPad. I would rather have seen their email response say that this is a known bug and that they are working on a fix. Maybe they are just beginning to understand the issues with version 1 and told the poor people answering the support emails to just say that it's not supported.
I'm not particularly upset with them, as it is v1.0 of a free app. It's got plenty of other shortcomings. I was hoping that it would work somthat we could take advantage of the Amazon Prime stuff we're paying for without having to go out and buy another set top box or Blu-ray player that was compatible with their stuff.
I would have gladly paid some money for a well designed app. Wish they had gone that route.

  • How does ipad digital AV adaptor works? does it have a Analog to Digital conversion?

I wonder how the Digital AV adaptor works? I heard the ipad 30-pin connector does not have digital video out. Does it have an Analog to Digital converter inside the adaptor?

Yes..same thing here..I get a pop up saying This Accessory is not Suported...I click Ok and I get a 4x3 "mirror" mode on my TV. However when I play a movie it is in the proper aspect. Same goes for the SlingBox" app.  I tested photos and they appear in the 4x3 ratio as well.
I only use the adapter for the occasional movie while staying in hotels so it's not a big deal to me that most of the items are in a 4x3 ratio.
I'm coming from an iPad 1 so mirroring wasn't an option so technically, I didn't even know what I was missing..not sure if the iPad 2 mirror function displays in 16x9 ( or whatever the native aspect is )

  • I am using iPad 3 and I try to use 30-pin Digital AV adaptor for mirroring on my Samsung HD TV.  Unfortunately it is not a full screen projection.  Anyone can help?

I am using iPad 3 and I try to use 30-pin Digital AV adaptor for mirroring on my Samsung HD TV.  Unfortunately it is not a full screen projection.  Anyone can help?

The iPad Screen is almost square, HD TVs are rectangular so will never be full screen.  When watching movies, the movies native aspect ratio will be used rather than the iPads screen aspect ratio so will look full screen if the movie is full screen, but most likely will be seen in wide screen letter box format. with black bars across the top and bottom as that what most movies from iTunes are in, format wise

  • Is there a way to use the Apple digital AV adapter to mirror the iPhone 4 (not 4s) screen on my TV?

I purchased the Apple digital AV adapter and an HDMI cable from the Apple store so that I could display the content of my phone on my TV.  It works for video and photo slide shows but I want to mirror my phone content like you can for the iPhone 4s.  Is there a work around to make this adapter work for me?
    Thanks for your help.
    Diana

Rather than mirror the display, set it to 'extended desktop' and have the browser on one screen and the movie on the other.
CMD F1 will toggle between mirror and extended.

  • Getting audio but no picture using Digital AV Adaptor

I have an ipad 3 running 6.0. I use the Digital AV Adaptor to play movies through my monitor, usually via the Videos or Cinexplayer apps.
I travel a lot and the adaptor works really well at home and at the hotels that I stay in.
However, I'm currently in the US for a while and staying at a Marriott. At this hotel both apps indicate that the picture is playing via the external monitor but I'm not getting any picture, only audio?
The hotel tech support can't suggest a reason.

There's a difference between a receiver simply switching HDMI inputs which I originally thought you were using throughout the chain, and one that converts other input sources such as component/composite/S-video and output that signal via HDMI, possibly upscaling on the way.
If it's the same model receiver or very near, then there's a good chance you'll get it working, it just may be that there's an option buried in a menu somewhere you haven't set. Do Onkyo have a user forum somwehere you could ask?

  • Apple digital av adapter problem

I bought a apple digital av adapter for my ipad mini a week ago and it's been working fine until yesterday. I unplugged it and when I came back home and replugged the digital adapter back into my ipad mini it would give me "the cable or adapter is not certified or may not work reliably with this ipad"
(p.s. I'm not really sure if I'm writing this in the right place or not, sorry.)

    Hello Allecra,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you are having trouble with a Digital AV Adapter. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you isolate or resolve the issue.
About Apple Digital AV Adapters for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support
    Troubleshooting
If you encounter an issue using the Apple Digital AV Adapter or VGA Adapter:
Disconnect and reconnect the adapter from the iOS device and display.
Connect directly to the TV, projector, or external display using a known-good VGA or HDMI cable.
Remove any VGA or HDMI extension cables or converters.
Note that accessories that convert a VGA or HDMI signal to other video formats (DVI, Composite, Component) are not supported.
Ensure that you are using the latest version of iOS. Some Apple Digital AV Adapters require iOS 5.1 or later.
When using an Apple Digital AV Adapter manufactured before early 2012 with iPad (3rd generation), you may see the "This accessory is not supported" alert. Dismissing the alert will allow you to use the adapter.
For optimal performance, you may need to adjust the video resolution or settings for your display. If your display offers an "auto detect" or "factory default" setting, you may be able to use these options to optimize video resolution and display.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Have a nice day,
    Mario
