Apple Digital Camera RAW Support 2.2. update

After todays Apple Security Update 2008-007 the Apple Digital Camera RAW Support 2.2. update finally works correctly and the data can be aquired via card reader.

Lucky you jdonath....
I have still have the problem that have been mentioned in a number of posts in the forum, and what I guess you are refering to. And I have tried the advices I have found in those posts. I must admit that I might not have found them all.
The CF card on my Nikon D2Xs shows in finder, .nef files are there, but Aperture 2.1.1 don´t recognize my files only the card itself.
I use a card reader-not transferring files directly from the camera. I have installed the latest security update and camera raw 2.2. I have tried to go back to version 2.1 of the raw converter with no luck. I have repaired permissions, both with Onyx and with the disk tool in OSX.
Aperture opens when I put the CF card in the reader and it shows in the import option/drives window in Aperture, but the files are somewhere in outer space or at least hidden and unavailable for import.
So for now my solution is to dump the files to a picture dump folder on my hard-drive and import them from there to one of the libraries I use.
I have different libraries for work and private files in case someone wondered
It does not make any difference which library I use the problem is persistent. This feels like unnecessary work and not a very satisfying sollution in my workflow.
Yeah, yeah i use both belt and suspenders so the files are kept safe on an external drive as well. Manually copied of course... and btw i use a combo of referenced and managed files, but that should not make any difference. I have tried to alter that in the import options, with no apparent result of course.
Can anyone give me a hint what could (still) be wrong or do I have to be moderately patient and wait till next sunrise (it is late autumn and dark in Norway this time of year) , when Apple sends out version 2.3 and make a prayer that they remember that some photographers are still back in the stone age when comes to cameraequipment... ( I wish someone gave me a D3)
And just to make the confusion complete... It used to work BEFORE the security update last night...
Cheers and my 2 cents

  • Camera RAW support 2.2 update and Nikon .NEF unsupported image format

    Hi,
I Use a Nikon D2x and only take raw images (.NEF file)
After I update from RAW support 2.1.1 update to RAW support 2.2 update, all my raw image file (.NEF file) taken before 13th September 2006 ! would not display - In the Aperture program, if i navigate to a project / folder and clicked on a thumb nail in the browser, I get a magenta / cyan screen showing in the main viewer panel with unsupported image format. ?
This is my worst-case scenario ! - I have entrusted Aperture with all my digital images (all raw .NEF) images taken before 13th September 2006 are un accessible with camera RAW support 2.2 update installed !
I have deleted (the 2.2 update) “from” System/Library/CoreServices/RawCamera.bundle and reinstall the RAW support 2.1.1 update.
    * NOW I can now see all my raw Nikon .NEF images and they are now all fully functional again *.
Their is a problem with the Apple digital camera RAW support 2.2 update, it rendered the Aperture program useless to me for my older .NEF image/files (as above).
    This requires a fix ASAP
    Martin

Thankfully, I wasn't affected by the issue given I'm currently with Canon. There have been Canon woes in the past though.
On a side note, I never update anything until it has been out for a few weeks just to be sure. Because Aperture is such an integral component of my studio and business, I make sure everything always works before making any updates or changes - including upgrading cameras.
I'm sure the next update will fix the magenta issues.
    Best,
    CD

Wow. I just installed the universal version of this update and now my iMac won't boot. How swell... It sits at the white screen.
I can hold down the power button and turn it off and on, but that's it. I've tried booting from CD by holding down C and zapping the PRAM and it still just sits at that white screen. I've unplugged it and am going to leave it for about 15 minutes and see if that does it.
Has anyone else had this problem?

  • Digital Camera Raw Support 1.0.1 seems to fix some DNG Problems

The actual Update seems to fix some DNG Problems , after the first Update i converted some d2xs files into dng an the look very strange ,now after this
update , the dng files from d2xs are working ...
does anyone has some raw files from cameras with are not support in native raw , who could try this out ...
    bye

I was hoping that it would cover the Leica M8 DNG files - the update means that you can see (and even modify) the thumbnails, but the full file still doesn't come up.

  • Apple Digital Camera Raw Compatibility - 3.1

This update extends RAW image compatibility for Aperture 3 and iPhoto 09 for the following cameras:
    Hasselblad H3DII-50
    Leica M9
    Leica X1
    Olympus E-P1
    Olympus E-P2
    Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1
    Pentax K-7
    Pentax K-x
    Sony Alpha DSLR-A500
    Sony Alpha DSLR-A550
    Sony Alpha DSLR-A850

Please not that this will be a recommended install if you have iPhoto 09, but it apparently assumes you have Aperture 3 as well.
It may be adverse for you is still running Aperture 2.
In my case, it killed reading of DNG files from a Pentax Kx.

  • HT4757 Can the digital camera RAW compatibility update 3.13 work for iPad?

Trying to transfer photos from my Nikon 3200 to iPad using the camera kit.  Can the digital camera RAW compatibility 3.13 update work for iPad?  Attempts to download it directly to iPad sends it to Evernote and then message comes up that synchronization failed.  Not a tech geek by any means so if you can help, please explain as simply as possible.  Thanks much.

45 views and no replies? Isn't there anyone that can answer if I need this update or not or is my question not clear? Does anyone else have a similar question relating to  the Digital Camera Raw compatibility update 3.11?

  • Digital Camera Raw 3.8.0 crashes Preview

    Hi
Is there any informartion on a Preview crash with the new Digital Camera Raw 3.8.0 update? If I want to crop and save an image (jpeg), preview crashes. Sometimes it crashes even if I rotate some images. If I go back to RawCamera 3.7.1, preview does not crash anymore. Update to 3.8.0 again, preview crashes again.
I read some other discussion about re-installing ProKit 7.0, this might solve problems for other software, but it didn't help be. For the moment, I'm back with 3.7.1.
    Any help?
    Thanks, andifor

It is unfortunately simply the extended cameras for Aperture and iPhoto. You still cannot open S90 pictures with Quick View, Preview or include them directly in iWork applications. You do get them as Finder icons though.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1001
(Note, I do not say that it necessarily is a good idea to include RAW files in iWork documents. Still, it works with many other RAW files but not Canon's S90.)

  • How can "Digital Camera RAW Compatibility" 4.06 be removed so that 4.05 can be installed first?

App Store currently shows "Digital Camera RAW Compatibility" 4.05 as an update.  When attempting to update the following dialog box appears stating "An error has occured - The operation couldn't be completed. (NSURLErrorDomain error -1012.)(-1012)
After searching found that the pkg files can be installed, However when trying to install 4.05 from a pkg file get the following dialog.
    Any ideas?
Is it possible to erase 4.06, then install both 4.05 & 4.06?
    many thanks
    John

after trying to install 4.05 via a pkg get a dialog stating "Alert - A newer version of Digital Camera RAW support is already installe on your system"...  Hence the question about removing 4.06.
Is there a version of the Digital Camera RAW that contains all updates, like a combo?

  • Digital Camera Raw

A software update on my MacBook 10.5.8 indicates that I need a Digital Camera Raw Compatibility 2.7 update, but everytime I try, I get an error.  Any suggestions.
    Thanks

What exact error do you get?
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

  • Digital Camera RAW update 2.1 (requires 10.5.3) XSi/450D support:

Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 2.1
About Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 2.
This update extends RAW file compatibility for Aperture 2 and iPhoto ’08 for the following cameras:
Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi/Kiss Digital x2/450D
    Epson R-D1
    Leaf AFi 7
    Leaf AFi 6
    Leaf AFi 5
    Pentax K200D
    Pentax K20D

Firstly, the best method I have found (superior to Adobe Import/Convert/Export) is to install the software from the A300 CD - I know, blasphemy. Anyhow, you can delete all except for the RAW Image Converter, which lets you do raw editing, its decent, and then export into whatever file type and size that is convenient for you, though its not the same as native Raw support, I know.
Quirks: Not many, its a great camera, I've had mine for about a month and a half now. The AF Assist light drains battery like an electric car, and I can't say that I totally appreciate the inability to invert the focus ring direction. Ergonomics whilst wearing glasses is mediocre at best and your screen will get dirty - you'll have to deal with it. Otherwise, its absolutely an amazing camera, DO NOT RETURN YOURS!!! As you can see, there are a few quirks, but if I were to write down its positives above cameras prices three times as much, the list would take up pages. keep it, its too good to care for the little things like that.

  • Since Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.03 Aperture no longer supports by 20D CR2 images. Is this a known problem? And when it going to be fixed?

Has anyone else run into this problem since the update?

The Raw support for Canaon EOS 20D is built directly into the Mac OS X, since Mac OS X Lion, see:
OS X Lion: Supported digital camera RAW formats: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4757
OS X Mountain Lion: Supported digital camera RAW formats: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5371
This is independent of Aperture. What is the problem? Do you get "unsupported image format" error messages?

  • Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 3.12 and later can not be installed on OSX 10.6.8.

    Hi
I bought a new Canon EOS 5D mark 3 and noticed that my MacBook Pro with OSX 10.6.8 can not handle the new raw files.
Searching google shown that I need Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 3.12 or later.
So I tried with 3.12, 3.13 and 3.14, but all failed during installation with error: "Dieses Update unterstützt nur Aperture 3 und iPhoto 9."
    Hmmm
    Checking iPhoto ...
About IPHOT shows "Iphoto '09 version 8.1.2 (424)"
So I've updated Iphoto with version 9.2.1 (which I found matching my OSX after stepping down from highest version down ..... Apple is here not really supporting users here .......)
Unfortunately this is only an update.
So I need to install first a newer Iphoto version.
Iphoto 11 I can buy in the app store, but I can not install it on OS/X 10.6.8 .....
    Lost!
How do I get my raw files of 5Dm3 visible in OSX 10.6.8 ???????
    Any help welcome
    Thx
    Wolfgang

I maintain up to date my system, yet I have from time to time when I take RAW picture issues in iPhoto not reading them.  Today, looking for another issue I came across this update and I was hopping it would resolve my issues with the RAW photos from my Pentax K-30.
    The error:
    Installer quit unexpectedly.
Click Reopen to open the app again. Click Report to see more detail information and send to Apple.

  • Digital Camera Raw update 4.02

is out in software update. I don;t see it on the Apple site yet however.
    This from software update

Discovered that the problem exists only with E-PM2 RAW files imported into Aperture before applying Digital Camera Raw Update 4.02. (I had been shooting RAW+JPEG since getting the camera, while waiting for RAW support.
    Found a solution:
Select all the problem files. Choose "Reprocess Originals" from the Photos menu. Done.

  • Digital Camera Raw Update

TUAW reports there's a new update to support more digital cameras. I didn't see a thread here, so I thought I'd share in case some of you were waiting for support.
Apple has released Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 3.1 via Software Update. The update can also be downloaded here. The 6.77 MB (web) or 7.2 MB (Software Update) update requires Mac OS X 10.5.8 or 10.6.2, and extends RAW image compatibility for Aperture 3 and iPhoto '09 for the following cameras:
    o. Hasselblad H3DII-50
    o. Leica M9
    o. Leica X1
    o. Olympus E-P1
    o. Olympus E-P2
    o. Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1
    o. Pentax K-7
    o. Pentax K-x
    o. Sony Alpha DSLR-A500
    o. Sony Alpha DSLR-A550
    o. Sony Alpha DSLR-A850

I am running Aperture 2, and iPhoto 09, with a Pentax Kx.
Either the 3.1 update, or the ProKit upgrade, killed reading of my DNG files in Aperture.
Although Software Update shows them as recommended for iPhoto 9 and Aperture users, I would suggest passing on them if you are still in Aperture 2.

  • Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.01 for Aperture 3 and iPhoto '11

    Check Software Update!
    Canon EOS M
    Canon PowerShot S110
    Nikon D600
    Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100
    Canon PowerShot G15
    Canon PowerShot SX50 HS
    Nikon 1 J2
    Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ200
    Panasonic LUMIX DMC-G5
    Panasonic LUMIX DMC-LX7
    Sony Alpha NEX-F3
Those of you who have already imported "unsupported" photos into Aperture (i.e. Nikon D600) photos, simply choose Photos->Reprocess Original after installing this update (and restarting Aperture), and the photo will then show up.
Aperture Expert has a little summary too:
    http://www.apertureexpert.com/tips/2012/10/24/digital-camera-raw-compatibility-u pdate-401-for-aperture-3-a.html

I cannot fathom why a RAW update is not compatible with all versions of Aperture 3. This is forced redundancy in my opinion. Not happy...
I understand that this is annoying for you, but it is part of the redesign of MacOS to make it more efficient and not to waste disk space on redundant installations.
The recent raw update - as I see it - is an update to Mac OS X 10.8.x, not to Aperture. Since Mac OS X Lion Apple has started to migrate the raw support directly to the OS, so they do not need to install the raw support as update to many different applications. I have not checked yet - is this update included in Lion as well? I sincerely hope so.
Send feedback to Apple that you need this upgraded raw support also available in Snow Leopard.
