Apple has not saidwhy they did it that way and it is against the terms of this forum to speculate on the reasons. It says not to:
"Discussions of Apple policies or procedures or speculation on Apple decisions."
The are third-party programs like TouchCopy that I think will allow you to do what you want. You can import photos via DropBox. The third-party programs will I know allow you to transfer the photos to your "new" computer.

All of the greeting card websites that I belong to use flash player and Apple doesn't allow it. Is there another way to get a greeting card site to work on a Mac?

Flash Player works just fine on a Mac. You're confusing the issue with that of iOS devices such as the iPhone and iPad, for which Adobe never came up with a viable version of Flash. Just download and install Flash Player from Adobe:

Message bodies are not downloaded until you open the folder containing the message. If you have a POP3 account it is possible that the message has been downloaded and deleted from the server by another mail program running on a home or office computer, so the message is gone by the time you are ready to read it. If you have a POP3 account you should make sure that any other computers that access your mail are off or at least have automatic email retrieval disabled.
If you have an Exchange account there really IS an issue. When you set up an Exchange account on the iPhone it gets its settings from the Outlook client on your computer. In some cases this setting doesn't work right on the iPhone. So if you have this problem AND your mail server is Exchange do not set up the iPhone as an Exchange client. Instead, create the account on the iPhone as an IMAP account.
If a message is very larger (probably over 1 MB or so) the iPhone won't download it. This could be why it happens with only some messages.
Finally, if you have it set up as an IMAP account and it still happens you are very unusual, as just about everyone who has reported this problem is using either Exchange or POP3. (Unless it happens on very large messages only)."

I suspect if you're trying to open a file in 08 that's been opened in 09 the file has been updated to 09 and will not open in 08.

Just drag the divider line between the preview pane and the message list all the way to the edge so the preview is completely closed. Selected messages will open in a new window with a double-click or the return key.

[SOLVED] Xfce terminal open links with wrong browser.

After installing Opera as second browser, xfce terminal began to open links with it, instead of my default browser - Firefox.
I right click on an URL, choose 'Open Link' and it opens in Opera.
Firefox is set as default browser in Settings -> Preferred Applications -> Web Browser
xdg-open http://archlinux.org
- opens Firefox
exo-open http://archlinux.org
- opens Firefox
After quick search through xfce terminal sources i found it uses some function - gtk_show_uri.
I googled it, found that topic: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=140028 and tried the solution:
cat ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list

x-scheme-handler/mailto=exo-mail-reader.desktop

strangely it doesn't help.
After all righ click url in terminal and 'Open Link' still uses Opera.
Any ideas? What else can i do to find out a reason?

Tried BROWSER envar - doesnt help, and as i understand it must work only for cli apps.
Editing of ~/.config/mimeapps.list doesnt help eather:

Lord K. Thank you. Yes I am within the 90 time period, however I travel Intertionally and I can not receive not make a call to Apple. I was just at the Genius Bar in Chicago and they said, don't worry about it. It just floats out there, however, I can not recover my messages on a flash drive. I need to go back to my old computer which I don't have with me. My messages were in folders for a lawsuit. It is going to take an incredible amount of work for me to, you have no Idea. Outlook 2010 Won't Allow a User to Open Microsoft Office Attachments

Whenever the user attempts to open a Microsoft Office attachment (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) from Outlook they are greeted with this warning:

Sorry about the way this is written I am not able to add images
This issue is only affecting 1 user, opening attachments for the rest works fine.
I am able to save the attachment and Right-Click on the file and select Properties and Unblock the file which allows it to be opened.
I have researched the problem and found the Component Services settings are correct and do not need altering. Also, I have heard that switching the Protected View settings in office applications
off can solve this issue. But, wouldn't this allow potentially dangerous content to be opened as well?
Can anyone help please?

Sharing iPhoto library in /Users/Shared doesn't allow all users to edit all photos

I share a laptop with my wife. We have two separate user accounts on the MacBook Pro. I've moved iPhoto to /Users/Shared in an effort to allow both users the option to EDIT photos in iPhoto.
How do I modify the permissions so that we can both edit photos no matter who uploads them?
The MBP is running Mavericks (10.9.1) and iPhoto is up to date (9.5.1).

I have a large (75Gb) iPhoto library (all my family photos since 2003) on a MBA (2011) which I use for work. This Christmas I have bought a new MBA (2013) for family use and want to transfer everything over to the new MBA so that the rest of the family can (1) look at (and use (i.e. email, export, etc but not edit)) them and (2) have their own libraries in their own user directories without cluttering up 'my' shared one.
I was planning on putting the library into -users/me/public. Would this work? Or do you have a better idea?

Firefoc doesn't allow my hotmail to open

I can see my email listed in hotmail, but cannot open any of my email. I called my internet provider and they suggest opening it with MS Explorer. Email does open with Explorer.

Mail won't open links

All of a sudden, Mail won't open a link when I click on it. No other apps are affected, and I can copy a link from Mail and open it in a browser with no problem. This seemed to coincide with installing the new iLife, but i'm not sure. Has anyone else had this problem; can anyone offer a suggestion?

had the same problem and solved it thanx to the apple hotline!
I have: iMac, OS X 10.4.11.
Observation: the problem appeared only for one user. The other users on the computer did not have the problem.
Solution:
1. in homefolder/library/ there is a folder "Mail": I did rename it to "Mail1". You can also archive it and place the archived file on an external HD. (safe way to proceed)
2. in homefolder/library/preferences I dragged the file "com.apple.mail.plist" to the desktop.
3. launch Mail: it will ask you to re-install your mail account. Do it. Make sure that you don't accidentally delete all your mails on the server if you wanted to keep a copy on the server!
4. Now the links to safari should work.
5. then I replaced the content of the old Mail folder (content of "Mail1") into the new mail folder. It still worked!

I have a requirement to prevent user from opening a new window of same session, either by right click, middle click or any other method.
Can anyone tell me how can i use session state to find that new window of same session is opened, and if yes, i can give an alert message that 'Only one window is allowed at a atime for a user'. Thanks alot.

You can enable the checksum feature in the Application Security attributes to prevent users.That would be closest you can acheive towards your requirement.
<li>However you try and prevent users from creating a new page, they can always use their browser features to duplicate a page ,and this works even with a checksum in the URL
For example in firefox, place your cursor in the URL bar and press {CTRL} + {ENTER} , it duplicates a page.
<li>Now, assuming that they did this, how do you identify which page is valid, For apex either page sents a request only and it doesn't know what happens at the client side. Remember apex session details are stored at the server side only.
