Apple downloads sucking all the bandwidth
This may seem like a really stupid question. Everytime I download software updates or new podcasts etc through itunes, they totally take up pretty much all my bandwidth to the point I cant browse web pages or even use an IM client. Is there some way I can make it so these things dont eat up all my bandwidth because Im finding I have to just leave these things go overnight as my mac mini is rendered pretty much useless in terms of internet connectivity till they finish.
Unless you get some very powerful, commercial level hardware and software you are not going to be able to control bandwidth usage. However, it seems to me that something else is going on. sig is right, multitasking while installing a operating system update is a real risk. But even with a 50 meg update, it shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes on a 512 DSL connection. Same with pod casts.
Take a look at your Activity Monitor, what is the page in/out count, how full is your hard drive?

Under normal circumstances, an uninstall/reinstall does not touch your content. That being said, it's still always a good idea to maintain a backup in case of disasters.

You can each have your own ID for your own iTunes accounts, but in order for a device to stream via AirPlay to the same Apple TV, everything must use the same homesharing ID. This is not the same as your iTunes account ID (although it can be for one of the devices)

You choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu, provide ~/Pictures/ as the path(or elsewhere if you moved the library), and drag the library to a volume formatted as Mac OS Extended.

So does anyone have any info on if apple know about all the problems with the iTunes update?
By problems I mean:
. The unability to sync music from your laptop/computer to your apple device
. The slowness
. Unable to log in
. Being told that the laptop/computer being used isn't recognised
. Clicking on music and it flicking through really quick without playing and then not playing after, but still being on apple device.
+ all the other problems i've seen mentioned on this page. It's pretty clear the new updates have glitches that urgently need fixing and a lot of people are encountering some or multiple of these problems.
I've not seen or heard any announcement whether they know or not or if they're doing something to fix this, because they need to. Urgently.Hi JamilMereck,
first of: you can edit previous posts in a time-frame of some minutes (haven't measured it ...).
After that they become non-editable.
I admit I have used microphones some years back with and without PCs (have switched to Macs 2.5 years ago).
But I always had the mics connected to a mixing desk, which provided Phantom Power.
Since I gave up my 'Singing Career' (wasn't good enough) I also abandoned the use of microphones.
To your questions:
It might be that PCs with specified Microphone-In ports are also providing power to them or the microphones themselves do not need any power.
And the 'compatible with...' refers to the usage on computers in general.
The iMic from Griffin works with OSX 10.5 (scroll down on the webpage to 'Product Compatibility' the left icon symbolizes OSX 10.5).
As said above, I am no longer up-to-date in usage of microphones, but when you want to use a microphone with the standard connector you have to get either a microphone preamp or a mixer.
If you use the mic only (really only) with your Mac Pro, you might wanna look for USB-connected mics from Samson or Audio Technica for example.
And don't get upset, I understand you fully and any kind of 'insult' is for the manufacturers and not for me

You do not. Apps and any content purchased from the iTunes store are eternally tied to the Apple ID they were purchased with.

Android TV steals all the bandwidth!
Hi everyone, need a little help please! My problem is that my wireless speed at home is around 12 MB which I am happy with but the minute I turn on my MX Android TV box, my speed goes to 0.1 MB on all devices connected to my network, including my android TV box! I had a home hub 2 , changed to a HH3 and have had the problem with both routers. I have trawled the internet looking for a solution but no joy, any ideas please? Thanks in advance!!

had this problem for a couple of weeks now and I can't figure it out. I bought an android tv box in September and it's been working fine until a few weeks ago. Every time I turned it on, my broadband speed went from 13Mb to less than 0.5 then returned to 13 the minute I turned the box off. My broadband light would flash orange most of the time when the box was on so I presumed that my router was faulty since it was about 7 years old. I have replaced it with a homehub 3 now and I'm having the exact same problem! I've done a factory reset on the android tv box and also on my new router but no luck. I have turned off smart wireless and I am wondering if anyone knows of any setting which could be making ths happen? The weird thing is, it's not like the box is getting all the bandwidth. It says it's connected to my wireless network yet menus etc take ages to load and I can't stream anything.
Any help would be much appreciated,

Apple is eating all my bandwidth
Ok, kinda getting sick of this. If there is a major issue with my computer, and I have to restore it, due to direction given by AG (apple genius) then I have to use up gigs and gigs of my bandwidth at home. I want a flash drive or some option where I don't have to download gigs of app data when I buy Logic or FCPX or Motion, or ETC. Cant use my time machine if the user if corrupt, because, hello, corrupt user back. Or what is major fail on that. You guys have a solution to this? Before comcast make me quit playing with all the interwebs goodness?
Mountain Lion is a 4.34GB file which on a broadband (high speed connection) can take 2 to 2-1/2 hours.
Keep in mind, for downloading Mountain Lion from the App Store, a high speed (broadband) internet connection is strongly recommended by Apple as noted here > iTUNES STORE - MAC APP STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
If you need to reinstall OS X or repair the the startup disk using Mountain Lion Recovery, that requires broadband access to the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. OS X is downloaded over the internet form Apple when OS X Recovery is used for reinstallation.
If you can re download Mountain Lion you can make your own install disc or a USB install drive.

How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select which apps you want to re download. Then right or control click where you see Installed then click Install.
Make sure and use the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
You can backup apps such as Logic, etc, without having to re download > Mac App Store: Backing up your app purchases -
Here is a bit more detail.
We were replacing old teacher machines and wanted to do it as efficiently as possible. Therefore, we set up one computer, through the OS installation and ran all updates, and then made a disk image so that we can use Carbon Copy Cloner to image all the other computers without having to run all the other updates. Once they were set up to a base level and assigned to a teacher we used Migration Assistant to import all their old files and items. Everything has been fine until recently the computers became aware of needing an update for one or two apps. The machine asks for the original computer's Apple ID for all updates. We have logged out of the apple id and back in with another to test if running the updates will work with that Apple ID and even after a refresh it still asks for the other Apple ID. How can we disassociate the Apple ID from those other computers so that the individual who owns the original is not needed each time there is an update or has to give out their Apple ID password?There are two parts to this:
1) It may be that you should have an Apple Education Support person helping you with this. If you have enough computers for this to be a problem, you may benefit from a Server, a site license, and an occasional visit from an Education Support Specialist.
2) The brief answer, if you want Individual Apple_IDs to control each computer, is to buy new copies of Mac OS X under those new Apple_IDs and re-download and re-Install. Mac OS X is customized to the Apple_ID before it is downloaded. -
WHy did y'all let me wast my time trying to fix this phone and use up my Internet on here and at home when all everyone that has IPhone has the same problem that I do ? And it's every time y'all add a update I'm at 6.1.3 and that's 3 updates from the time I had got this phone replace in oct and been out of wi/fi two months now and all the reboots from oct I had to do

My iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and iPad 2 are running 6.1.3 with no such problem and the same with the overwhelming majority of iOS devices running 6.1.3. -
ITunes and Match not playing Apple Store purchases all the way through
Hi! I recently noticed that several (but not all) of the m4p songs on my computer will not play all the way through, with the music ending 30 seconds to 2 minutes before the end of the song. I decided to try Match thinking this would solve the problem (since they were purchased from Apple, Match is supposed to provide a clean copy, right?), but the songs cut off at the exact same point through Match as well. On my computer the song ends abruptly and switches to another. On my phone, with Match, the song either stays blank as it counts down the rest of the track or switches to another one while the information on the first song stays on screen until the point where it should have ended.
For a specific example: Ryuichi Sakamoto's Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence off the album 1996 is a classical m4p. iTunes stops playing it 1:45 from the end. The stop and start times are listed correctly. It played correctly when I first purchased it from the Apple store in 2005.
Any help fixing this problem would be appreciated.I finally found some answers. I guess the problem is related to moving protected AACs to a new computer. If anyone else is haivng this trouble, the solution can be found at:

Download the lnk registry fix from www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/19449-default-file-type-associations-restore.html. Reinstall iTunes. Should you find that all of your desktop shortcuts have again turned into links to the iTunes application apply the patch.

Do you mean the drop down list of the toolbar Download button or the Downloads folder in the Library (History Manager)?
Downloads that sow in the Library are treated as history items: clearing history removes included download items and vice verse, so make sure that you keep history. -
When I downloaded ios7 on my ipad2 today it deleted all the photos in my Photostream. NOT GOOD! This is AWFUL! Please tell me how to get them back!!! ASAP please! Thanks!
Sign out of iCloud on the affected device
Then sign in again
Confusingly this option is called "delete account"
It doesn't actually delete the account, merely removes the iCloud data on the device in question.
Of course when you sign in again it forces it to get the iCloud data once more - photos included
