Apple DVI to Video Adapter not working with SL + Mac Mini

I've seen some issues with the video adapter putting out only black and white signal with Macbook Pros. That would be an improvement for me.
I can't get SL to play with the video adaper when I plug it into my TV. I get black and white and a bounching broken up signal, as though the refresh rates don't match. I can't play around with the settings because it's impossible to see what's on screen. I have to plug my monitor back in.
This used to work fine under Leopard.
How will I ever watch Mad Men now?

  • Apple DVI to Video Adapter NOT WORKING

So I have this mac pro but no monitor. I went to the apple store and bought the Apple DVI to Video Adapter. I hooked it up and turned the computer on and there's nothing showing up on the screen(TV). Why is this happening? The whole point of this adapter is to not need a monitor.... do i need a monitor to set it up?

  • Ethernet adapter not working with new Mac Mini after NetRestore.

I'm currently working with an issue regarding Mini 4,1s and their difference from the main driver set in 10.6.4. I'm in an educational environment and attempting to effectively netrestore a hard drive image that was built on a Mini 3,1 with all possible updates made to the OS (10.6.4).
The new minis have no problem netbooting, and downloading the disc image from the server *over ethernet*. In fact, they do it in a very rapid fashion. The issue is that once the machines boot up, they no longer have ethernet capabilities. In fact, the ethernet device does not even appear in system profiler at all. After reading quite a lot about this problem, it appears that there is a difference in the driver set on the special "Mid-2010 Mini 4,1" update and the driver set found in a normal 10.6.4 install.
I have attempted various permutations of installing the Mid-2010 update, but most of them include having an existing 10.6.4 install that was not built on the Mini, and attempting to install the update over the install, or replacing the driver in suspect itself. The issue persists.
Is there something I'm missing, and is this a common problem?
tl;dr: non mac mini 10.6.4 installation copied on mac mini 4,1, and ethernet drivers don't work.

Thanks for your suggestion, I cloned my 1.83GHZ Mac Mini's main drive with Carbon Copy Cloner and restored it onto a new 2.4GHZ Mac Mini. Since the new Mac was replacing the older one's mother ship role in my HTPC setup, this method would ensure the easiest transition. Everything works fine, except that ethernet wont work, it did before, but doesn't now. I already tried several confirmed-working-by-me cables and no luck.
I tried your step and understand the logic behind them, but as soon as I replaced my files with the ones you suggested from my 2.4GHZ Mac Install Disc, the system reports some conflicts. I repaired permissions after and before this happens (tried twice, once after successfully restoring via Tim Machine) and still it occurred. After reboot Ethernet was still dead and so was WiFi. Luckily I was able to get everything back to normal by replacing the entire Extensions folder with the one prior to the changes. Restoring the two files alone would not do it.
    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks.

  • My Apple blue tooth keyboard will not pair with my mac mini

My Apple wireless keyboard was paired with my Mac Mini. It is no longer paired. I have put in new Batteries. I have pressed the button on the top right hand section of the keyboard, the green led lights up briefly. The Blue Tooth set up assistant appears on screen and searches for the keyboard. I has brifly seen it but does not make a connection. The Magic moose is doing the same thing.

    Hi Darrell,
If your Apple Bluetooth and keyboard are not paring to your Mac Mini, then take a look at the article below to walk you through some general troubleshooting to get it to pair and start working again. If you have not done so already, try looking form anything could be causing interference like cordless phones as well and thing metal between the keyboard and the Mac Mini.

  • APPLE DVI To Video Adapter Not recognized in Lion

Is anyone successfully using an APPLE M9267G/A DVI To Video Adapter, with a Power Mac using OSX 10.7+  ?
I am thinking that Lion has dropped driver support for this adapter.  Can any confirm or deny?
    Thanks

    I've got a 2x2.66 GHz Dual-Core Xeon
    running OSX 10.7.3
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 256 MB
and of course the APPLE M9267G/A DVI To Video Adapter
The apple video adapter attaches to video card via DVI-I
When booted with the APPLE M9267G/A DVI To Video Adapter alone, there is video signal present, but it is very unstable and will not lock at any available software resolution / frequency combination.
However, when I click the Detect Displays button the video signal stops.
The APPLE M9267G/A DVI To Video Adapter works a-ok with my

  • Can't get my mini dvi to video adapter to work with my tv

Ok so I bought a mini dvi to video adapter to hook my imac up to my tv, and I when I go to detect displays all it does is flash white for a split second, and then doesn't work
    any suggestions?

OK... so I figured it out. Firstly, the RCA cable I was using was faulty. Secondly, I think the adapter I bought is also faulty. I found that it only works when it is hanging down from the computer... as in the computer is sitting on the edge of, say, a desk, and the the cable hangs over the side. If I move the cable upwards, it stops working. So, I'm going to call an Apple store and see if this is most likely the problem, and I'll probably exchange it.
    Thanks again,
    Zeb

  • Help! DVI to Video adapter not working!

    Hello,
I bought a brand new DVI to video adapter and it's not working. I plug it in and it shows the start-up screen, but it's split screen and it's in black and white. Then, it goes into the black and white lines, not showing what's coming out of the computer at all. I've tried doing this on three separate TV's and none work. Can anyone help?

Can you give us your video card specs and the link to the product you are using.

  • 27" TFT TV not working with my mac mini

My brand new mac mini does not work with my 27" TFT TV (D-Boss) using the DVI connection. The mac mini works fine if connected to a 17" or 20" TFT display, but the screen of my TV is black and I get the error message "out of range" (strange with digital). The TV is working with my Windows laptop (analog and digital). I really have no idea where the problem is. Somebody can help me?
    Thanks

  • DVI to Video Adapter Not Working...

    Hi,
I bought this thingy to view video from my Dual 2 Ghz PowerPC G5 on a Panasonic HDTV, using one of its s-video inputs. The video is blank when I switch to that input. I tried using the "Detect Displays" in the Displays preference panel. I do get a picture, but it's heavily distorted no matter what resolution I've tried - it's treated as a VGA display. Composite output from the adapter does not work at all.
The video card is a NVIDIA GeForce 6600LE (came with the computer - two DVI outputs). Apple claims this adapter works on Power Mac G5 with DVI port, but I don't think it does. I also tried hooking it up to a VCR as Apple claims you can do, but no luck there either.
Any advice or alternatives outside of Apple TV appreciated.

Thanks for the technical information. That was very helpful. I took the adapter to my local Apple Store (even tho I didn 't buy it there) and asked them to test it, but they couldn't get to for a couple of hours. But, they gladly gave me a new one to try at no charge.
As before, I plugged it into port 2 of the graphics card with an s-video cable to the tv. No success - except the picture was completely blank on the TV instead of distorted like before. Port 1 was occupied with a VGA monitor. I shut down the computer, TV, and unplugged both ports. I then moved the adapter from port 2 to port 1 and left port 2 open, meaning the VGA monitor wasn't connected to the graphics card at all.
I turned the TV back on and restarted the computer. Lo and behold - after the booting process was done, my desktop appeared on the TV. I shut down the computer again and reconnected the VGA monitor. Ta-dah! - I now have dual monitors.
As a further test, I hooked up the s-video from the adapter to my DVD recorder and recorded the video output from a full screen QT video to its built-in hard drive. That was successful as well. The only problem is that there is a minimal black border around the video since I was not able to pick a resolution for the TV that fills the entire screen. I may need to play with TV's aspect settings to get rid of the border, or crop it out later.
All that's left is to capture the audio and sync it with the video, then output to my format of choice. There's my fair use copy. The quality of the video won't be as good as the original, but what the heck - I'm the only one using it anyway.
Apple should find a way to convince TV and movie studios to sell their stuff on iTunes Store without DRM, at a higher price - like EMI is doing with their music. I would gladly pay the difference just so I could convert and burn my videos to DVD with iDVD or DVD Studio Pro.

  • Help With Apple DVI to Video Adapter

I bought a Apple DVI to Video Adapter, which works fine when I connect my computer to my T.V. However, I want to be able to use both my monitor and my T.V. at the same time. If I connect the Apple DVI to Video Adapter to my T.V., then that takes away the port I use to connect my computer monitor. There is another port on the same card, but that size is not compatible with the plug on the of my monitor. Therefore I am limited to using either my T.V., or my computer monitor.
Is there any device I can get that allows me to connect the computer to the monitor and the T.V. at the same time?
    Thanks

I thought that cables and adapters worked the same going either direction. I believed that the only concern was the male or female end points on them. Not sure anymore though

  • G5 dvi to vga adapter not working

DVI to VGA adapter not working with my G5 Dual 2.3 GHz Power PC. I am trying to use a VGA Monitor but can not get a signal. I also am using a Dell with a DVI Input and that works fine using a DVI Cable from my G5 to the Dell u2410.

    Bad adapter?
The G5 ports are DVI-I. Any good DVI-I to VGA adapter should be fine.

  • Apple DVI to Video Adapter working but not anymore

    Hello,
I have the Apple DVI to Video Adapter connected to standard TV via Rca, This had worked for a couple of months and suddenly the image went blur with some lines, it is hard to see something clear but I see the desktop on my TV. Is there something that I am missing? Configuration? I tested the Rca cable and it's fine..
    Many Thanks

On the TV side, I'll assume it works properly from other inputs and that controls on the TV's built-in menu did not get reset somehow.
On the Mac side, video output settings are stored in PRAM, so you could try resetting the PRAM if you haven't done that already.

  • Apple DVI to Video adapter + Mini DVI to DVI adapter pins not same

I just purchased an Apple DVI to Video adaptor so I could plug in a Mac mini to an older tv, however the pin arrangement on the Apple DVI to Video adapter is not the same as the pin arrangement on the Mini DVI to DVI adapter that came with the Mac mini.
Anyone have any idea what adapter I can use to make this connection?

    James,
    I'm confused here.
    Which Mini do you have?
I know you posted this in the 2009 Mac Mini section so your Mini should have 2 video out ports.
    1. Mini DVI
    2. Mini DisplayPort
If that is true, then there is no way you could have connected the DVI to Video adapter in your first post as the new Mini does not have a DVI port.
The new Mini's come with 1 adapter.
    Mini DVI to DVI adapter.
I don't know of any Apple adapters that will output to S Video, component or composite connections on the new Mini's.
The one that osxdude shows above will not work on a new Mini. It say nothing about a Mini in their description:
*The Mini-DVI to Video adapter is designed for the iMac (Intel Core Duo), MacBook*, and 12-inch PowerBook G4, allowing you to connect to most S-video or Composite enabled devices.*
Good Luck and let us know what you find.
Yes, I have a late 2009 Mac mini. It came with the mini DVI to DVI adapter as you stated. I need to hook up to an older tv with yellow component video port. Not knowing any better, and looking online, it looked like the male DVI end of the “Apple DVI to video” adapter would connect to the female DVI end of the “Mini DVI to DVI” adapter that came with the Mac mini. I figured that since they were both DVI plugs, male and female, they would connect, but the “Apple DVI to video” adapter has 4 extra pins, so they won’t.
Then, following osxdude’s lead, I went to a local independent Apple store, and they told me that the same adapter that osxdude suggested would work, so I bought that (at an inflated price), but as you stated, it does not work. Also, as you stated, the Apple site does not list the Mac mini as being used with this adapter, which is why I did not originally purchase it online. It was only at the insistence of the independent Apple store that it would work that I purchased it. Unfortunately, once the package is opened
the store were I purchased it will not take it back. Boy... this is getting expensive, and confusing! Why so many adapters?
After much searching I found this info: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=706736&highlight=monoprice so I’m going to try that.
Once it’s all said and done, I guess I’ll be listing a few adapters on ebay!
