Apple El Capitan Beta 4 won't save outgoing POP mail server

Oops... it's actually El Capitan beta 10.11 that I'm using. And I should also add that I've carefully copied the ingoing and outgoing ports and SSL info from GoDaddy, and as many times as I've typed all that in, I'm sure that not every effort contained a typo. I also went into Mail settings, per someone's suggestion, and changed "false" to "true" in the line: "allow unsecured...". It didn't seem to have any effect.

Using the new Apple Mail program in 10.10 beta 4, try as I will, as many times as I will, checking then unchecking "Automatically detect..." (suggested by someone else), when I try to add my GoDaddy outgoing mail server to the list of those available, when I "save", and then go back, it's gone. Time after time after time. I can receive e-mail just fine, so I know I'm hitting GoDaddy's "pop.secureserver.net" just fine. It's hitting "smtpoutsecureserver.net" that I can't do, because I cant get this version of Mail to save the dang thing. HELP!!!!

  • 'El Capitan' Beta Not Supported by SAV for OSX

    Hey Everyone,
In the last couple weeks I've seen a few folks post about issues with the new beta release of OSX 'El Capitan' which was released a few weeks ago. Just wanted to pass on the official word that this beta is unsupported. Here's the official KB article.
    In our experience:
A new install of SAV 9.2.7 on El Capitan is currently expected to fail
If SAV is installed and working prior to an upgrade to El Capitan, it "may" continue to work, but we can't guarantee anything.
Please remember, proceed with caution when installing a Beta OS, as we can't guarantee stability.
Our Mac development team is currently working on building and testing a new release of SAV which will be fully compatible and available prior to the official release of El Capitan later this fall.
Thanks everyone for your continued support and patience. Happy Friday!

If it's OK to pass this along, while the El Capitan beta won't normally allow SAV to run, and updates will fail if it's already present and working in an earlier version of OS X before the upgrade, in my experience the current version of SAV will run and update reliably if "System Integrety Protection" is turned off while booted into the El Capitan Recovery drive. See this article in MacWorld for an explanation of what that is and how to turn it off. Note that if System Integrety Protection was on when SAV was broken, simply turning it off won't bring SAV back to life. SAV needs to be reinstalled after System Integrety Protection is disabled, but as long as System Integrety Protection continues disabled, SAV so far has continued to work. While I don't recommend running the Mac that way, if it's the user's production drive (not a good idea with a beta OS), then it's a solution I'd use. Personnally, I consider Sophos AV important enough that I plan to upgrade from Mountain Lion to Yosemite rather than El Capitan for production purposes simply to have Sophos available and running. BTW, System Integrety Protection interferes with fully successful cloning too, which is another reason to hold off with production systems.

  • Apple mail won't save outgoing server port...? Odd symptom.

Each time I close Mail, the SMTP port reverts to 25. I can enter a new port, but Mail won't save that port info. I have to re-enter after opening Mail each time.
    Symptom goes like this:
Open Mail, then when sending 1st message after opening app an error "cannot send mail using selected server" appears. I need to go into the settings & switch the port from the default port that is displayed (25), to 3535. After doing that & clicking ok, closing the window, the password dialog box appears & mail sends just fine. Every other message from that point will send.
Close Mail, then reopen. Have to repeat same process again.

Two weeks later (after post, above)
I Solved the Problem - I reinstalled Mac OSX 10.6.6 (It was rather painless)
My Mail is working again. Safari now also again remembers passwords.
Also, my Aperture's Mail export also works. (Mail is no longer grayed out).

  • HT201320 mail set up keeps telling me my passwords are incorrect.... also cannot find yahoo also won't save password in mail set up. deleted accounts to start over still wont work

Email trouble on new mini ipad keeps telling me pass words are incorrect and won't save password. can't fin yahoo either

I am having the problem with my att.net primary email account. We just upgraded to the iPhone 5 ...my husband's att email works, mine does not....it is driving me crazy!!!! I have deleted account, changed password to no avail...I hope someone figures out how to fix this soon.

  • Won't Save Drafts in Mail

I've seen various problems reported with the Draft mailbox...
My problem, very similar to other recent reports-- My drafts disappear (after closing and reopening Mail). My drafts have been faithfully saved for years, until recently ,until 10.5.4. I think it is 10.5.5 where the problem began for me. Manually saving also fails to save a draft in the Draft box.
Exception to this-- A very unsatisfactory work around is to -- Search one's name (official name in computer) and arrange the results by date-- There i find my currently lost messages, sorted by date.
Please fix Mail, and all the vital basics, instead of adding so much useless fluff, in each major upgrade

    Hello boa:
I recommend you send your suggestions to Apple via the OS X feedback facility. These forums are user to user and are not the best way to feed Apple suggestions.
I would, if I were you, rebuild the mailbox (draft) that is causing problems. Since I have never encountered the problem you posted, I have not had any troubleshooting experience in that area.

  • Won't save file on my server.

When I save a file, I get the message: C:\Windows/System32/index.html.  ou don't have permission to save in this location.  Contact the administration to obtain permission"  It then tells me to save in my documents and not to the server.
I do other websites and it's only this one I am having trouble with.  Is there a setting I messed up someplace???

Wrong forum. This is for Expression Design--a graphics program.

  • Firefox won't save my Yahoo mail passwords, but Explorer will.

Firefox used to save passwords for yahoo Mail, but lately does not seem to be working. I have 2 mail accounts and passwords with Yahoo. I have read through and clicked all the things about allowing passwords to be saved but nothing is working. I do not have this problem with Explorer. If this is just something that Yahoo has done to shut out Firefox then so be it, but if there is something that can be done I would appreciate the help.
I read through other Q&A's on this, looks like a big problem all over, but many of the so-called solutions about bookmarks, etc I can't understand what to do. Many say "solved" but I do not see any solution.

I do not know the answer, I asked on a Yahoo forum last week. I did try a bookmarklet. I did see another computer able to save passwords. Neither were my computers and the computers used GoogleChrome. I suspect Yahoo may have upped security at some stage. I do not have a Yahoo account myself. I also noted GoogleChrome does not use a master password so all passwords are visible.
I comment as an edit because an unanswerd question will get a faster solution. I will move this to a separate answer once someone else answers.

Now moving the comment to an ordinary post.
I guess in fact it may be Google Chrome that blocks the bookmarklet action. Not Yahoo.

  • My firefox recently updated. Now my pop mail server won't work. I did a 'restore' to last week, and it was fine. It has now auto updated. No mail server.

I have read through several responses to others who are having problems following an update. I am not computer savvy enough to understand half of the recommended 'solutions'. I need clear and definitive instructions of what to do. (Instruction for 'dummies' is what I need.) I can not 'restore' my computer continuously, only to have the auto updates cause the pop mail server to stop working each time. If there is nothing I can do, I guess I will have to stop using Mozilla Firefox. Can you help?

There is no solution for Firefox and POP. Firefox doesn't do email and has no need for a POP email server.
If you are using Firefox to view and send "email", you are accessing a webmail service provider.

  • Apple Mail won't save "Use Autodiscover service" with Exchange

Apple Mail is discovering the wrong servers when connecting to Exchange. I want to set it manually so I uncheck "Use Autodiscover service" and put in the correct servers. But when I quit and restart Mail, it automatically rechecks "Use Autodiscover service" and automatically picks up the wrong servers again. Can some one suggest why it won't save my setting and how to make the unchecked setting stay unchecked?

Well first, I'd recommend your IT folks configure Autodiscover to return the correct results ;-)

Can you explain why the image size matters when dragging and dropping into iPhoto?

  • Voice Memos won't save my recordings?

I'm in college so I usually record my classes for further detailing, but I just recently discovered that Voice Memos just won't save my recordings like 2/5 of the time. I already lost like 4 important ones for the past 3 days.
The thing is that I see it recording, but it just doesn't save it, and it's just sitting there at 00:00:00 with the name tag I had put. I want to die.

    - Does you iTunes library already contain a Voice Memos playlist?  Some users have had to manually create it in order for the sync to occur.
    - Also try resetting your iPod. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Photos won't save to camera roll

Since I installed iOS7, all the pictures I take with the camera won't save to camera roll. I see them in the lower corner of the camera but when I click on it, they are not in the camera roll. In the camera roll, I just have a bunch of pictures that I deleted months (or years!) ago. I uninstalled my profile and reinstalled it two or three times with always the same result.
    All the settings are ok.
I installed the profile of a friend on my phone to test it and everything works fine with his profile.
Anyone can help me out with this issue?

bluetooth is an APPLE issue: they have blocked many of the 'normal' bluetooth features on 'other' handsets..
an example you may be thinking of is Sharing a photo via Bluetooth .. simple everywhere else, but can not be done on iphone
-you have to use it via an app such as iphoto, or send it attatched via an email, from the iphone.
    stupid, annoying, yes.

  • HI, I just got a Macbook Pro.  It's great but my mail doesn't work at all.  It will come up correctly, but take forever to download messages,  then won't delete them,  then won't save them to folders.  Then when I go to quit mail it's like it gets stuck.

If you just got your new MBP you have phone support from Apple (which is quite good) call them.  800-692-7753 tell the automated answerer "mail technical support" you'll have human quite quickly.  Hope this helps.
