Apple Extreme card says i'm connected but i can't use internet/email

i recently installed an exrtreme card in my emac and after following installation and instructions etc i cannot seem to use the internet or send or recive emails. Internet connect says that i am connected, via my friends interent connection and i have 3 bars on the signal and seemingly a good reception. i cannot access the internet via safari or internet explorer. i cannot send or receive emails through 'Mail'. I am sure there is a very simple solution but i don't know what to try next. any help gratefull received.

Are you getting a valid IP address? If it starts with 169 it is not valid.
If you are getting a valid IP address, it could be a DNS issue. Clear any DNS information in Network preference pane->AirPort->TCP/IP.

Check the IP address assigned to your iPad (touch the ">" next to your network name in Settings > WiFi). If it starts with 169 then your router has not assigned a valid LAN IP address to your iPad. It might appear to be connected but you will have no success on the internet.
Sometimes restarting your router by temporarily (30 seconds) removing/restoring power to it will solve this problem. If it doesn't check that your router has up-to-date manufacturer's firmware and test your iPad on some other networks to see if it works properly there.

I was having the same problem. I've probably screwed things up royally by doing so, but I just went ahead and created another Apple ID with a different email address, and will inform anyone who I will be using FaceTime with to use the new one. I tried using the "multiple ID finder" thing but it only ever returned the ID I'm using right now; I can't verify the email address this ID is associated with for some reason.
It's a clusterfark.

- Have you reset your iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

I can't access my itunes store, it says I don't have an internet connection but I do. I tried updating to the newest version of itunes, turned off my firewall, checked to make sure itunes was allowed in my internet options. what else can i do?

I am having trouble connecting to my in-home internet via wireless router. It says it is connected, but when I try to open email, no connection is found. This also occurs for Safari and Facebook. I am connected by Charter Cable.

I am having trouble connecting to my in-home internet via my wireless router. The IPad says I'm connected to the router, but I am unable to receive email, Facebook and Safari. I run through Charter Cable. This only occurs on my IPad. My desktop works fine.

Although it may ultimately be necessary to perform a Factory Default Reset on the AirPort Extreme and start over with a new configution, we can first try to see if things will work with the existing settings on the device.
Push the reset button (if present) on the cable modem
Power off the modem by pulling the power cable
Remove the internal battery from the modem (if easily accessible)
Power off the AirPort Extreme and every other device on the network....order is not important
Wait at least 20 minutes....longer is better
Re-install the battery in the modem if it was removed previously
Make sure that the Ethernet cable from the modem is connected to the WAN port (circle of dots icon) on the AirPort Extreme
Power up the modem and let it run 4-5 minutes buy itself
Power up the AirPort Extreme and let it run 4-5 minutes
Then power up each other network device one at a time about a minute apart
Check for a good Internet connection on the network with all devices
If still no luck, you will need to perfom a Factory Default Reset on the AirPort Extreme as follows:
Pull the power plug from the back of the AirPort Extreme
Hold in the reset button and keep holding it another 8-10 seconds while you simultaneously plug the power back in to the AirPort Extreme
Release the reset button and allow 25-30 seconds for the AirPort Extreme to restart to a slow, blinking amber light
Then open AirPort Utility end reconfigure the AirPort Express again.

Ethernet is connected but I can not get internet

I just moved into a new apartment and my internet connect is through an Ethernet cord. I can not reboot or restart the connection becuase it is through my entire building. When I plug the Ethernet into my MacBook Pro is says it is connected however when I open Safari or Chrome it has no connection. My IP address starts with 169 and my Mask is 255. I have restarted the computer many times and have gone through the "Assist Me.." or "Diagnostics" within Networks however each one requires that I reboot the router. Seeing that I dont even know where the router is, I can not do this action. Can someone please help with this? I have also reset PRAM and looked at other threads that say delete "com.apple.afl", however in my preferences there is no "com.apple.afl". The ethernet is currently working on an HP desktop and I have made sure the broadban connection has been set to "share with other devices". I feel Im running out of options. PLEASE HELP!

From the menu labeled Configure IPv4, select
Using DHCP
Click Apply. See whether the IP address changes.

One way to isolate the problem would be to try your iPod on some other networks (Starbucks, Borders, Library, Apple store, etc.) If it does not work in those places you likely have a problem with your iPod otherwise it's likely a problem with your network.
Please provide some details on your router make/model, security type being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), any MAC address filtering configured and whether you are using static IPs or DHCP.

TS1398 my ipod touch won't join the wifi network even after entering correct password. it just keeps trying to join but I can't use internet

My home wifi is working for all my other apple devices but my daughter's Ipod Touch won't connect. It recognises the network and attempts to join it as usual but it just keeps 'trying' without actually connecting. Have switched on and off, renewed lease, reset networks etc - basically everything I can think of but no luck. Any help much appreciated.

Try restarting your router, if you are still having problems try resetting your network settings. Go into your settings>reset then tap reset network settings.

Basic question: Do you have a tethering plan with your carrier? It isn't automatically provisioned; you have to ask for it and pay extra with most carriers. See these tips from Apple:

Apple TV recognizes and says it's connected but doesn't ask for the password and is not actually connected because it can't download Itunes. How can I get the Apple TV to ask for a password. Same exact problem with my Apple TV. Worked like a charm the first two times we used it. Haven't used it in about a month, now no Apple logo when I turn it on, or the logo appears momentarily and distorted, and then an error message from my Samsung HD TV: Mode Not Supported.

I just hooked up my Apple TV - it is all connected correctly- when my wifi comes up on my tv screen i click and select it. It then says it is "connected" , but it is not as is it has not asked for the password for my wifi. I have turned it all off and back on, I have restarted it as well. It will not ask after it is already connected. Is ATV working? Can you connect to the iTunes store, Netflix, etc?
