Apple family share - iCloud Family share

I have iphone 6 with IOS 8.1 and linked both my kids accounts but unable to see their music/apps and vice-versa.   I would like to use the Family iCloud share settings so they can see my music/apps and vice-versa.    How does this work?   I seem to be missing a step to access this new feature.

My 3 apple devices share the same Icloud storage space and I am running out of free space. How do separate them and get individual accounts for each device?

You only need create two new accounts. Your device is already associated with your account so this in no way affects your stuff.
On a Mac you create user accounts in either the Accounts or Users & Groups preferences depending on which version of OS X you are using.

I have the IPhone, IPad and MacBook, IPad and IPhone share the same Apple ID and Icloud storage. Cannot make ID Change on MacBook as it says the ID is already taken. How can I make all three match?

The problem is that all services are bundled with your Apple ID ([email protected]):
Your iCloud account (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes, Backups, etc.),
also iTunes & App Store purchases (Music, Movies, TV Shows, etc.),
    and the iTunes Match services.
(I guess that all your devices - yours and your wife's are connected to one iTunes library, right?)
If you want that your wife gets her own iCloud account for Mail, Contacts, Calendars, etc. but gets also access to your media then you have two set up two things on her device:
iCloud (Settings > iCloud) with her account (e.g. [email protected])
    and
iTunes & App Stores (Settings > iTunes & App Stores) with your account (e.g. [email protected]).
In this case she gets access to your library and could use the same iTunes Match account.

My mac, ipad and apple tv share the same itunes account.  Why do movies rented from itunes on my ipad or mac not show up in my apple tv?  is there a way to get them there?

Rentals are one-time only downloads, they will not show on other devices/computers for redownloading.
If you rent a film on your iPad or Apple TV then you can only watch it on that device. If you rent it on your Mac then you can move it from there to your iPhone or your Apple TV (if it's a first gen Apple TV) : FAQs about renting movies from the iTunes Store :
If you rented the movie on your computer, you can move it to an iOS device or Apple TV (1st generation). To do this, connect the devices and sync using USB. When you move a rented movie from your computer, it will disappear from your computer’s iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as much as you want, but you can only have it on one device at a time.
If you rented the movie on your iOS device or Apple TV, you can’t move it to any other device.

  • ICal Share and Apple Calendar share

Is ical share and Apple calendar share still viable way to get subscriptions to calendars.
ical share seems to only have old stuff same with Apple Calendar items
I am looking for F! 2009 schedule (auto racing)?
Is there another place that everyone gets shared calendars?
    bob

I get the feeling that the moderator (or whoever is in charge) of icalshare died or left the country some time ago and nobody noticed. Have you ever tried to post a calendar? I have posted a cricket fixture calendar for Durham CCC twice now - the calendar has not appeared and my messages to them are ignored. The same thing happened last year when I posted a soccer fixture list. Has anyone else had the same problem? It really is as if nobody's in charge there.

  • To Apple Family,,

    To Apple family...
    hi everyone,
i have tried to update my ipad2 and lost all my photos and videos. the ipad is totally restored to its initial settings
is there any possibility to backup or recover all my files...
plz help me by ur advice.....its urgent!
    thanks

Sorry but if you didn't perform the update from a computer (in which case it might have synched at least some of the items) there is probably no way to recover those videos and photos. If these are critical items, you can try a recovery service such as DriveSavers:
    http://www.drivesaversdatarecovery.com/devices-supported/apple-iphone-data-recov ery/
but whether they could recover anything I can't say. It's not likely, and could be expensive even for the attempt, but you can try.

  • Why can't apple user share or take data from Andriod?

1.why can't apple user share or take data from Andriod?

I was able to easily move all my data from my Android phone to my iPhone when I switched. But, that could be, because, instead of complaining, I actually asked questions that made sense, listened to the answers, did some reading and figured it out.

  • The Calendar app is showing a calendar from an iPhone that is no longer associated with my Apple ID or iCloud ID, why is it doing that and why can't I remove it?

I just bought a MacBook Pro and am having some problems with the calendar and contacts list, and my problem could be causing other issues that I am not aware of. So, this is what's happening:
I had two iPhone5s associated with my Apple ID for a while. When I got this MacBook, and learned of Family Sharing, I decided that it would be better for each user to have their own unique ID. So, I have deleted and set up a new Apple ID and iCloud ID on the phone I want separated from MY Apple ID and iCloud. I want the computer to be associated with MY IDs, not the other phone. However, the computer still thinks the two phones are one in the same, despite the other phone being removed from both accounts and being registered with different IDs. Things I have noticed: The calendar on the computer still has the old phones calendar and still has all of the old phones contacts. When I went to use FaceTime and iMessage, the old phone number still shows up as an option. The old phone is still connected to something, somewhere, but I can't figure it out. My data, contacts, and calendars also show up, both phones show up all over the computer and I only want ONE phone, MY phone to show up.
    Things I have tried:
Deleting the accounts from iCloud & iTunes
    Updating the OS
    Rebooting, phones and computer
Logging out and logging back in
Creating a new user account on the computer
Probably several other things I'm just not remembering because it's 4 am and I've been doing this since 11:30 pm and am completely exhausted.
I've literally been Googling and browsing this forum for hours and trying everything I see, but nothing is working. The computer still thinks it's connected to the old phone. It's making me crazy because the user has literally 39 alarms every single day reminding her to do different things. It makes me absolutely crazy because the notifications are popping up on the computer. PLEASE, HELP ME!

  • HT204150 Sharing the same iTunes, Apple ID and iCloud accounts.

    Hi
My wife and I share the same Itunes , Apple Id and Icloud accounts.
How do we keep our contacts seperate, when we open up or back up on I cloud?
As we both have I phones, I would like to keep all my work contacts seperate from hers. Also I don't wish to have her contacts loaded on my phone and vice verser.
Will it mean the I will have to get a seperate apple ID and seperate Icloud account.
Problem is that all our music and photos are on the one Library, because we didn't have two Iphones before, it didn't matter.
We would like to keep the same Itunes library to access music and photos, but like to keep everything else seperate.
    Can you please help.
    Regards
    shervhall

You can continue to share the same ID for purchasing from the iTunes and App stores (your iTunes account/library), but you need to have separate iCloud accounts with separate IDs to prevent merged data such as contacts.  (You aren't required to use the same ID for purchasing as you do for other services such as iCloud, iMesage, FaceTime, etc.)  The only issue is that photo stream is tied to the iCloud account so when you separate your accounts, you will no longer be sharing the same photo stream.  You can still send each other shared photo streams in order to share each other's photos, but they wouldn't be part of the same photo stream.
To separate your iCloud accounts, on the device that will be changing accounts, go to Settings>iCloud and turn all data that is syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.  When prompted choose to keep the data on the device.  (If you are syncing iWork documents with iCloud, also open your iWork apps and turn off iCloud syncing and choose to keep the documents on your device.)  After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The device that will be keeping the existing account will not be effected by this.)  Next, set up a new iCloud account on this device using a different Apple ID and turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On.  When prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to this new account.  At this point you will have two different iCloud accounts, one for each phone, with identical data on them.
You will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the unwanted data (such as deleting the other wife's contacts from your account, and vice versa).  These changes will be reflected on each phone.  When finished you will have individual iCloud accounts with just your own data on them.
To avoid getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls you also need to use separate IDs for iMessage and FaceTime.  To change the ID for iMessage on one of the devices, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign in with a separate ID (such as the new iCloud ID).  To change the ID for FaceTime on this device, do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.

  • If two people use one computer, but we have separte itunes accounts, Apple ID, and icloud will my apps I get be stored in their account too since we are using the same computer?

If two people share the same computer, but have separate itunes account, Apple ID, and icloud and one of them downloads an app will it also go into the other persons account since y'all use the same computer

If you  have separate user accounts on the computer, then your downloaded apps are stored in your iTunes Library. See the following for dealing with having multiple users on the same computer: How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer.
Using More than One iDevice on the Same Computer
This applies mainly to couples who are adding another device and do not want their email, messages, etc. being duplicated on both devices. To begin read: How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer. You need to establish a separate Apple ID and password for whomever will use the new iDevice. See Apple - My Apple ID and Frequently asked questions about Apple ID. The easiest way is to do this on the computer using iTunes: iTunes- How to set up an Apple ID within iTunes.
On the computer create a new user account for the person with the new iDevice. This will be the user account that person will always use. He/She will no longer use the other user account. This way that person will have a separate iTunes Library
Start by transferring the new device(s) to a new account along with all your data.  Save any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless they are already in the camera roll) by opening your Photos app, tap on Albums icon at the bottom. Now, tap on My Photo Stream album; tap Select; tap on the photos you want to select;, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow) in the lower left corner; then tap Save to Camera Roll.
If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep then you need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself. Later you can copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.
Tap on Settings > iCloud > Delete Account (only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; the person keeping the current account will not be affected,) provide the password to turn off Find My Phone and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted.  Sign in with a different Apple ID to create your new account. Choose Merge to upload your data.
Once you are on separate accounts, you can each go to icloud.com and delete the other person's data from your account.
Note: The essence of the above was created by user, randers4. I
have made substantial changes to improve readability and syntax.

  • HT204053 What is best way to use a corp apple ID for icloud and let users use their Apple ID in itunes store?

What is the best setup for us to maintain ownership of our corp issued iPhones and iPads yet allow users their personal apps from their iTunes accounts? I have gone out and created a corp apple ID that we are using in the iCloud setup on all our corp owned devices. This keeps the end user from using their apple ID in iCloud and hence when employee's are unexpectedly discharged we still maintain ownership and don't have to ask them for their Apple ID & password when resetting the devices. It also does not allow them to do backups to the cloud or locally either way. We are very careful to turn EVERY thing off inside the iCloud set up area. Even turning off iMessage and share my location. We do keep the find my iphone or ipad on however. So how can I lock these settings to keep users from changing them? Or is there a better way to manage corp devices without having to buy into anything to manage them, we are a non profit.

    iPhone in Business and Education
That would be the proper thread to post, cause obviously just cause you setup the way above it will not stop users from turning off or on iCloud features like contact and then problems with entering incorrect passwords. You can also try restrictions to account changes, but that is not guaranteed to work either.
Guys on that thread may be able to point to different professional solutions, but those are unlikely to be free.

  • Separating main Apple ID and iCloud

With the recent locking issue on Apple computers and devices (I didn't get hit luckily), it got me thinking more about the overall security of all things Apple ID.
We have multiple computers and devices in my house, that all share my Apple ID for the stores both on OS X and iOS and then the other users have their own Apple IDs for iCloud. Because I am the main Apple ID, I use the same ID for iCloud.
I have the proper protection in place, strong passwords, two-step verification, password on all devices, but it got me thinking that if this had occured and the hacker did actually get to my Apple ID account and managed to change the settings (yes I know, it can't happen, but if there is a will, there is usually a way) so I lost complete control over it, we would all loose access to the store media that we have spent a lot of money over the years on.
As a mitigation method and also being super paranoid, I thought that I should separate my Apple ID and iCloud too. At least then, my iCloud is also one step removed from the main account.
    The questions I have is,
On my Mac, can I operate two iCloud accounts on the one user?
Or, do I need to export all information store in my current iCloud and then import it to the new. Contacts, Calendars, Documents are all easy.
What about keychain? Can I bring that across? I can see that I can import into Keychain, but there is no option to export the existing?
Messages? Can I move the phone number from one iCloud account to the other?
How do I go about moving my Find my Phone devices? Do I just delete turn them off in the current iCloud and then add them to the new?
    Thanks
    A

Just use a 31 character password, Password Assistant can help create a memorable one, for your ID and not worry about the not likely things.
Password Assistant can be accessed thru the Keychain Access or thru the System/Users & Groups preference pane via the change password feature:
There's really nothing to worry about with a strong password.
