Apple hardware on windows?

i have an imac G5 2.1 with isight which has a mainbord problem.i went to tech and they charged me 1000euro.as u guess i am not going to pay.i will buy new one with that money from Usa.
i need to learn that can i use other hardwares in windows platform.
especially screen,harddisk,airport,dvd,.........

Apple Hardware Test Non-existent on Imac 27" i5 with preinstalled Lion!!

Have just spent nearly 30 mins on the phone with AppleCare because I can't seem to get the Apple Hardware Test on my iMac to work. Checked in instructions and it states "Restart iMac while holding down D key" - that does not work. Then it states, "if the Apple Hardware Test window doesn't appear after restarting, hold down the Command, Option and D keys and restart the computer to access the AHT software from the internet". That doesn't work either. When talking to AppleCare the chap told me to use my disk - don't have one! Went through the same thing I tried from instructions and still doesn't work. Has anyone tried using the AHT with Lion preinstalled? Have you got it to work, or is it just me?

Thanks for your reply. It seems that some iMacs running Lion are able to run AHT or gain access to an Internet version. I, unfortunately, am unable to do either. There is nothing in the instruction book relating to non-access to AHT if you are running a pre-installed version of Lion. Perhaps Apple should have at the very least included an info sheet stating what Lion runs and does not run! The more I find out what has changed in Lion the less I like it. I have had iMacs since the revised G3 which I think was back in 1998. I have had several iMacs since then and really liked all of them. This one I don't. If I can find a way of running Snow Leopard, I will junk Lion.

For some reason all of my apple hardware is no longer being found on my itunes account which is windows based. can someone please tell me what i could do?

My windows based itunes is not finding any of my apple hardware when it is plugged into my computer. Could someone please tell me what i need to do to fix it. i have already uninstalled and reinstalled itunes.

Restart the computer.
Try plugging into a different USB port on the computer.
Try a different sync cable.

Apple Wireless Keyboard with Windows 7 on non Apple Hardware

Good Day,
I love the Apple Wireless Keyboard and it's the on I use when using my Thinkpad laptop as a desktop, meaning connected to an external Monitor and with an external keyboard and mouse. The Keyboard I use is an Apple Wireless Keyboard.
On my MBA 13 I use Windows 7 as my OS and the Apple lyouted keyboard works actually quite well with windows: The function keys perform very much like in Mac OSX with the volume, screen brightness, the fn+left or right for "home" or "end" etc.
Not I bought an Apple Wireless Keyboard to use in conjuction with my Thinkpad but all does features are missing. I guess that this has to to that on the MBA 13 the appropriate drivers where installed when the whole Bootcamp Software package was installed.
Since I obviously cant install the whole Bootcamp CD on non Apple Hardware, is there any way to just download somewhere the drivers for Apple KEyboards so the behave the same way as they would on a Mac running Windows?
Or is there any other way I could use my Apple Wireless Keyboard with non Apple Hardware the same way it behaves on my MBA 13 running Windows 7? Can somwhere lolely the Apple Keyboard drivers be downloaded?
I want to thank anyone who is kind enough to help mme with this mather in advance and please leave out comments of the kind that I it's my fault, I should have bought an Apple machine from the beginning. After 3 frustrating hours of trying every tip on the net, I found the answer: Try this.
"This finally fixed it for me: Device Manager - Open System Devices, you will find a Bluetooth HID Device. Double Click it, open Driver tab and click "Update Driver" Select Browse my Computer, then "Let me Pick". It should now show TWO compatible drivers with exactly the same name. One of them is the Microsoft one, one is the non-working Chinese ****. Install one of them and see if the driver properties changed to the right (Microsoft) driver. If not, try again with the other one. For me, the Microsoft driver was the first one in the list, but this may be different for you. Wow, an annoying and intense hour of trouble shooting finally over..."

The issue is related to the Chinese version of the driver that the latest windows update applies that stops the keyboard from working.
I'm typing this on the Apple Wireless Keyboard on Windows 7 64 bit on my PC. Finallly!

Yes, I had MBA burn Apple's Window support software to a DVD. In Windows I am getting "Hardware not found" and during another attempt (using windows's update driver) "driver not found".

Apple Hardware Test launches Open Firmware window

At work, I have a 2.3 GHz Dual-Core G5. When I run Apple Hardware Test [Extended], it generates an Open Firmware window in the lower-left corner at 11 minutes.
Has anyone else seen this?

I DID read the link - you should re-read my post. I have a G5 [the article refers to G4's] and a later version of AHT [which the article recommends updating to]. As soon as I removed the questionable RAM, the problem went away.

How Do I Install Apple Drivers For Windows XP?

Okay, so I have a 15 inch mid 2012 MacBook Pro that is running OS X Mavericks. After many attempts, I managed to install Windows XP 32 bit as a secondary operating system on the HDD using Disk Utility. The only devices that Windows XP recognised upon the installation were the keyboard and the trackpad. I then inserted a Snow Leopard disc to install the Apple Drivers for Windows XP and it appeared as though the drivers got installed(the Boot Camp icon appeared on the taskbar next to the digital clock). However, when I restarted windows, none of the devices other than the keyboard and the trackpad worked. Does this imply that the drivers didn't get installed? If so, why is this and how can I install the drivers? If the drivers did get installed, why aren't the devices working? Please help me out, if possible. Thanks in advance.

It does not work because you are running Mavericks and trying to use non-Mavericks drivers for an operating system (XP) that is not support on your hardware or your operating system.

Using Apple Hardware Test on computers with OS X 10.7 or later
Mac NoteBook and Desktop computers shipping with OS X 10.7 or later have a partition on the hard drive or flash storage that contains AHT. To start AHT on these computers please follow these instructions:
Press the power button to turn on your computer.
Press and hold the D key before the gray startup screen appears.
It takes a minute or so for AHT to start up and inspect your hardware configuration. While this is taking place, an icon appears on the screen:
When the process is complete, select your language and click the right arrow. If you aren't using a mouse, you can use the up and down arrows to select a language and then press the Return key.
The AHT console appears. You can choose which sort of test or tests to perform:
To perform all of the basic tests, click the Test button or press the "T" key or the Return key.
To perform a more thorough diagnostic test, select the "Perform extended testing" checkbox under the Test button before you click the Test button.
Note: Your test results will appear in the window in the bottom-right of the console.To exit AHT, click Restart or Shut Down at the bottom of the window.
Some Macintosh computers that shipped with OS X Lion and later support the use of Apple Hardware Test over the Internet. These computers will start up to an Internet-based version of AHT if the hard drive does not contain AHT. An Internet-enabled connection via Ethernet or Wi-Fi is required to use this feature. Files/Folders Sticking to Mouse Pointer - Not Releasing (Reset PRAM & Apple Hardware Test Fail to Run)

I've been having two issues with my Late 2008 MacBook Pro 15-inch - Running OS X 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion). Unable to Reset the PRAM and Run Apple Hardware Test (AHT).
On a random basis - File/Folder icons are Sticking to the Mouse Pointer - Not Releasing. I've done everything from trashing finder preferences, making sure Universal Access preferences are off, Restoring Defaults in the Energy Saver System Preferences, Resetting the System SMC. Another post mentioned that this is being caused by the Graphics Driver not working correctly - and mentioned to put the MBP to sleep, then wake it up, and the files/folders are no longer sticking to the mouse pointer. This works for me and released the sticking items in the Finder.
OK, Good this is a simple fix, BUT, what is really causing this issue, and how may it be fixed or repaired?
I also tried to Reset the PRAM and Run the Apple Hardware test (AHT), and these both fail to run on my MacBook Pro with OS X 10.8.5.
1) Resetting the PRAM:
Shut down the MBP, press the power button, and hold down at the same time <option><command>-P-R. The Reset PRAM process never starts up, but rather I receive the Padlock/Password Login which logs me into the Restore System Utilities. I'm unable to Reset the PRAM.
2) Apple Hardware Test (AHT):
Shut down the MBP, press the power button, and hold down the "D" key, the system boots up as normal and does not enter the AHT.
The File/Folder Finder sticking to the mouse pointer issue is very annoying. Does anyone have a solution to resolve this issue?

It sounds like the hard drive is failing or has failed. Boot from your Mac install disc and if you can run Disk Utility in case the startup disk needs repairs.
Insert your install disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
*(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)*
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
While you have the Disk Utility window open, look at the bottom of the window. Where you see Capacity and Available. *Make sure there is always 10% to 15% free disk space*
If you cannot boot from your install disc, try booting in Safe Mode

Imac 24 aluminum - apple hardware test using wireless keyboard

The manual that came with my imac describes the steps to run the apple hardware test as follows:
1. disconnect all external devices, except keyboard and mouse
2. restart mac holding the 'd' key
The apple hardware chooser should appear next.
When I do these steps it goes right to my desktop every time. I am running a mac wireless keyboard and mac mighty mouse.
Anyone have an idea how I can get the Apple Hardware Test up?

Try shutting down your iMac, reboot and THEN do the AHT.
Are you able to boot from the restore disk?
To check the hard disk:
Open Disk Utility, in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder.
Insert your Mac OS X Install disc in your computer’s optical drive or an optical drive connected to your computer, and then restart your computer. When you hear the startup tone, hold down the C key until you see the progress indicator, which looks like a spinning gear.
Follow the onscreen instructions until the Menu Bar appears with the Utilities menu in it, choose Utilities > Disk Utility, click First Aid, and then click the Verify button. If DU reports errors, click Repair. When it's finished, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Disk. In the Startup Disk window select MacintoshHD 10.x.x and click Restart.

Apple Keyboard on Windows PC?

I am running Windows 7 on a Dell Windows PC. I am trying to get the Apple wired keyboard working so I can use the keys on the top of the keyboard. Keys like: volume up and down, eject, etc. Is there a way to do that?
I tried downloading a custom driver from uxsoft but it didn't seem to do anything.

No. The embedded codes will only work on Apple hardware. You should not use an Apple keyboard on non-Apple hardware.

I haven't optical drive. So how can I start the Apple hardware test without optical drive? I have a 15 inch mid 2010 macbook pro.

2008 Imac apple hardware test

I have a 2008 24" Imac running 10.7.5, my boot rom version is IM91.008D.B08, and my SMC version is 1.37f3. I'm trying to run the Apple Hardware Test but I'm not having any success; I depress the d key but it just restarts normally, same with option d. I checked out the firmware version and Apple says it's up to date. Maybe it's not possible? Thanks, mj.

Unless disc 2, "Applications Install DVD," states to use the D key on start up to launch AHT, you can't and need to use the disc. If the disc says to use the D key, then you need to restore the .diagnostics folder that Lion apparently blew away.
To do that, mount disc 2, launch the Terminal app in /Utilities, copy & paste this command into the window that pops up, and hit the return key:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles 1
OPTION-click & hold the Finder's Dock icon and select RELAUNCH. That unhides all hidden files/folders.
Drill down to /"Applications Install Disc"/System/Library/CoreServices/ and drag the .diagnostics folder into your SL boot volume's /System/Library/CoreServices/ folder.
Run this command to hide the normally hidden files/folders and RELAUNCH the Finder again.
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles 0
Restart the machine and you should be able to boot into AHT when restarting and holding down the D key.

Apple Hardware Test stops responding

While troubleshooting disk errors on an iMac (27 inch, mid-2010), I tried running the Apple Hardware Test from the Applications Install DVD that came with the computer, by inserting the DVD and holding down the "D" key while rebooting. The test begins normally, then stops working after a few minutes. I let the basic test continue working for more than 30 minutes (twice), but the progress bar hangs at around 95% and screen indicates it has been testing for 3 minutes 20 seconds. I also tried the extended testing and let it go for a couple of hours, but it also appeared to stop responding.
Meanwhile, my iMac starts up normally again, after a few scary instances of the screen going black and immediately shutting down. Disk Utility has stopped returning error messages, and now reports that the "The volume appears to be OK". Is the failure of the Apple Hardware Test a symptom of hard drive or other problems? Should I just let it run overnight and give it more time? For comparison, I tried running AHT (basic and extended) on a MacBook Pro, and both finished normally with no problems.
I appreciate any insights you can share!

The original NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT is able to take even 512 MB and do HCDP. Apple doesn't support this because they look for the mass of normal consumers and not for professionals. Than they would have used a Nvidia Qudro NVS 320M.
Does any one tried "DirectX 10" and "PureVideo HD" on a booted Windows system on the new MBP? (here a link but in German:

Cant run apple hardware test

I have a G5 20" iMac, intel based. I've been trying to perform a Apple Hardware test but am unable to get it started.
Any help?

Thanks. Yes, I have a late 2007 20" imac. The model I have is a 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, with 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM of Memory. I have a 320 GB Hard drive. The disks that came with the computer when I bought it in 2009 from Apple (3 of them) say iMac G5. I have 2 G5 Mac OS X install disks and a G5 Add'l Software and Apple Hardware Test Disk.
My problem started a couple of weeks ago when I would be getting the spining rainbow beach ball. I've opened Utility Disk and have Repaired Disk Permissions.
When I tuen on my computer I follow the instructions to the letter (from the link you gave me, I already had that and have tried it a few times) and it still will not start the test.
Each time I try it, I get the grey progress bar underneath the Apple Logo and spinning grey gear. The progress bar goes about a third of the way and ends then, the blue screen appears and my login window appears.
I have tried to run the Hardware Test by booting from the Install Disk, and from the Hardware Test Disk as well and the same this happens.
No matter what I do I can't seem to get the test to start, nor, start my computer without this Grey Progress bar underneath the Apple Logo and spinning gear.
I susspect I need additional Ram installed, but do not know how to check my computer to find out.
Lastly, the computer will only work for about 5 - 15 minutes normally after logging on. After this time the rainbow beach ball comes back and even the simplest of task can't be performed with a wait for the beach ball to stop and go away...
I'm stuck and don't know how to proceed...
I have $0 money left to invest in a certified Apple technician to come to the house to fix the problem...
