Apple ID and Email Verification Conundrum

Email Verification Conundrum
After updating to iOS 5 yesterday on both my iPad and iPhone, I was forced to create a new Apple ID because iOS 5 only permits email addresses as Apple IDs. My previous Apple ID was NOT an email address.
Anyway, I created a new ID, and subsequently went through an email address verification process which was messy and confusing.
Problem is, I now have two Apple IDs: one that I used everywhere until yesterday (and that I used to register as an Apple Developer), and the new one created yesterday for my iPad and iPhone in-store purchases. But I can't purchase or download anything - because it tells me I haven't verified my Apple ID. But I HAVE. If I click the OK button to review instructions on how to verify my Apple ID, I am informed that my email address is already verified for another Apple ID (presumably my original ID - the one I used to register as a developer).
I only use the one email address. How can I resolve this conundrum?
If I change the Apple ID I use on the iOS Developer Center, will that screw up any of my existing certificates or provisioning profiles?
And even if I do change my Apple ID on the iOS Developer Center, will that solve this email verification dilemma?

Yes I had already read the FAQs, but hadn't found that first link you suggested.
I followed that, logged in with my old (non-email address) Apple ID and things looked promising. The instructions looked straightforward and I'm presented with a panel inviting me to "Make your Apple ID and primary email address one and the same"
So I click "Submit"...
I then sign out and try to sign back in using my email address ID but it fails with the message...
"Your Apple ID or password was entered incorrectly"
Perhaps I have to allow time for Apple to process my request?
Perhaps the fact that I am attempting to modify an old Apple ID to a name that matches an existing newer one is just not possible?
Perhaps I have to dump my other new ID first - before attempting to change the other one?
Anyway...

They can share an Apple ID, but each device must use a different email address when setting up FaceTime. Create a gmail email (or hotmail, or ...) address and use that on one of the devices when you setup FaceTime.
You don't actually have to use the 'new' email address, it is probably just used as an index to reference the correct device when initiating a call via the FaceTime server.

Create a NEW account/ID for her using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before. You musg specify a birtdate that resule in an age of at least 13 years.

Use the new ID on her iPod but only for:
Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
Settings>FaceTime
Settings>GameCenter
and Settings>iCloud if you want her to have separate Contacts Calendar and some other things.
Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases.
Note:
- Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
- To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

If I delete my icloud account so that I can get one that matches my apple id and email and password that I updated due to a new email address, will I lose my contacts and pics and calendars on phone that were synched to icloud. It keeps warning me when i go to delete that any contacts etc saved in the cloud for the device will be lost. If all you did was rename your ID, you can go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted, then sign back in with your renamed ID. Deleting the account only deletes the account and any data you are syncing with iCloud from your phone, not from iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account and not changing accounts, your data will be synced back to your phone when you sign back in.
If, however, you are changing to a new account with a new ID, choose Keep on My iPhone when prompted. Then choose Merge when you sign into the new account and turn your iCloud syncing back on to upload your data to the new account.
Before deleting the account, save you photo stream photos to your camera roll (tap Edit, tap all the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll).

Running Snow Leopard. Needed to reset password. Old apple id and email ended in mac.com. Now it says I cant have apple id be same as email. This totally screws my accounts,downloads and email up. I Need my apple id to be the same as email . Help please

I'm not sure where you are seeing the prompt for your older Apple ID, but there are several articles about changing the ID.

Right, if the Apple ID is already set up, then you cannot change it to None until you put a credit card on the account.
If you set up a brand new Apple ID by first downloading a Free app, and then setting up the ID as a part of that process, then it can be None.

After opening the email it shoud of had you enter the Apple ID and password. Using certian web browser's can cause errors. You can adjust securty settings (big pain) or you use another browser. Using Firefox or Safari should do the trick.
Let me know if using Firefox or Safari resolved it.

Hello im fom indonesia, i've new ipad but my problem is that apple id used from that store when i was pay, and that store was forget about the apple id pass and also the email (somebody change that password because not only me using that id, n than he/she change an email pass), my vault is get hard reset for my ipad and i dont know when started is still ask about pass with that same apple id....so what can i do now to open that lock? i have original box and guarantee from apple (not stolen ipad)

The conundrum continues

I have amended my email address recently on my Apple ID and the verification email has not been received.

I have tried several times to verify my Apple ID account, but the verification email never reaches my new email address. I changed the user name on my Apple ID after changing my email addresses and that seemed to work fine. But despite being able to view all my apps on the list available for download they are blocked as I have to verify my account.
Any ideas how I can get a work around?

If you knew your Apple password, yes, you could. Until you change the email in iTunes, Apple still has the old email.
I find it odd that you have an iPhone 5, but don't remember your Apple ID.
Your Apple ID and password are needed fairly often.
If you forget your Apple ID password, the method to recover is to use your emergency email or answer security questions.
Start there, but do not repeated login or you will get locked out, (your ID can be disabled by Apple.)
If all else fails you will have to call Apple and prove you are the owner before they will help you.

I can't remember the password I used to set up icloud nor the email I used to set it up with. I have my apple ID and email for that account.

I recently had to do a factory restore on my iphone 4s. Upon trying to set up my phone again I am being asked to sign into my icloud account. I can't remember the password or the email I used to set it up. I know my Apple ID, password and email for that account, but that doesn't allow me to get back into my phone. I recently got my mother's IPhone second hand. She had her Apple ID, and Find my Iphone feature registered under her old work email address, neither of these no longer exist, and so I am stuck and can't unlock the phone. Any Advice?

It does not matter that the email no longer exists. Ask your mom for her Apple ID password. (The Apple ID will be the same as the old email.) If she does not remember it she will need to reset the password here:
