Hi
I just went thru the same problem . The only thing I did was to turn off iPad , restart iPad , when I went to messages
My user name was already filled in. The other 5-10 times I tried my I'd password it would not work. After reboot and going to messages I retyped my user name then my password . First time did not work, did username and password second time and it worked. Did not do a second reboot.
I have seen other people who had this problem and they said it just started working on its own??
So I m not sure if what I did fixed it or it just fixed it's self, "to err is human, to really fowl up takes a computer "
Good luck!

  • How do I remove a device from my Apple ID and iMessage?

I want to remove an iPod from my Apple ID but I'm not sure how

    Hey Daytona1,
Thanks for the question. In regards to iMessage: You can remove your iOS device by following these steps:
iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5538
How to unlink a phone number
To remove a phone number from an Apple ID, sign out of FaceTime and Messages on your iPhone. Sign out in the following locations:
    - Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
    - Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
This should remove your phone number from other devices using the same Apple ID with FaceTime and Messages.
If the phone number is still available on other devices after you sign out of FaceTime and iMessage on the iPhone, you may need to sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on all your devices, then sign in to FaceTime and Messages again on devices you want to use.
Note: If you no longer have access to the iPhone that is using the number you want to remove, reset your Apple ID password.
In regard to your iTunes Account/Apple ID: You can manage the devices that have been associated with your Apple ID (iTunes Account) from “View My Account”:
Removing an associated device or computer from an Apple ID
To remove a device or computer from your Apple ID:
    1. Open iTunes.
    2. Sign in to your Apple ID by choosing Store > Sign In from the iTunes menu.
    3. Choose Store > View My Account from the iTunes menu.
    4. From the Account Information screen, click Manage Devices.
    5. Click the Remove button next to the device name you would like to unassociate.
Note: Removing a device from your Apple ID does not override the 90 day timer. The timer must complete 90 days from the day the device was associated before it can be associated to another Apple ID.
iTunes Store: Associating a device or computer to your Apple ID

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

iPhone, iPod touch: Tap “Use your Apple ID for FaceTime” and enter your current Apple ID to sign in.

iPhone, iPod touch: Tap “Use your Apple ID for FaceTime” and enter your current Apple ID to sign in.
iPad: Enter your current Apple ID to sign in.
iOS 6 and later: Go to Settings > Messages, then tap Send & Receive.

  • My mac keeps telling me my apple ID and imessage is being used on a new iPhone, help? is this related to Yosemite?

My mac has popped up with these alerts twice now, one saying 'Your apple ID is now being used for iCloud on a new iPhone.' followed by 'Your phone number is now being used for iMessage and facetime on a new iPhone.' what should I do?
I haven't got a new iPhone obviously and my current one is already been signed in and always has been, i tried changing my Apple ID password but the alerts came up again.
I recently updated to the OS X Yosemite update and have been having some isues with my wifi since then so I'm not sure if this could be related. I also had my last iPhone stolen about half a year ago but used the Track my iPhone on my cloud to set it so if it did become online it would be wiped, but obviously i am quite concerned.
    Thanks!

After updating a while back, I got some false alerts myself but they were for devices I owned.  In your case you might want to contact the Apple account security team and ask them their advice: Apple ID: Contacting Apple for help with Apple ID account security - Apple Support.

  • Apple ID and iMessage issue

    Dear ,
I am trying to activate iMessage using my ( apple ID :<edited by host> but it tell me the username/ password is not correct , my username/ password working with all apple services but not working with iMessage.
This problem started with me after I switched off the IMessage service and switched on again from settings , I rest the password , restarted the device and rest the settings but the problem still .
Your help and fast action is highly appreciated from Apple.
Thanks for your time and consecration ,

make sure the e-mail being used on the list of your e-mails settings is the one from your Apple I.D. and not the other one like @iclould.com  e-mail address that often could cause confilicts if is not your Apple I.D. e-mail set up to be the default on iMessages.

  • SMS, Apple ID, and iMessage Problems!

I cannot sign into my Apple ID to access my iMessages. I also cannot send or receive texts on my replacement iPhone 5. How do I do?

Can you provide a little more info?
So a test message/text to your phone # (not your email) does NOT work at all?
If you try and sign in to your account in messages what happens?
(click on SETTINGS->MESSAGES->SEND & RECEIVE - what shows under APPLE ID at the top? - if anything)
If it is blue and shows your Apple ID what shows under YOU CAN BE REACHED BY iMESSAGE AT?

  • 4 devices, 1 apple ID and iMessage /iCloud

Myself and my 2 sons each have an iPhone that has been updated to IOS5. All was fine with iMessage until I updated the iPad. Then a message I sent to one son went to both and when the right one replied, the reply went to my other son and not me. So...if they each go into their settings/messages/receive at/ and put their own email address in, will this cure the issue. Will they be allowed to put any email address in for it to work or does the email address have to be connected to the apple ID?
Part 2- iCloud. When the boys set up their iCloud, as long as they create an @me.com email address in the set up, will that avoid any duplicate or triplicate syncing issues among our accounts. I wouldn't want their photos being sent to each device.
Any help would be appreciated before I start experimenting and getting too messed up :) Thanks!

Yes you need to create a new iCloud ID (which is an Apple ID)

  • Two apple ID and iMessage? Error message

    Hello,
I have iOS 5 installed, when I try to add a second email to receive iMessages to my device, I am getting a error thay the email is alreayd in use.
But when I try to send a email to that account it is not possible?
Maybe the problem is that I am adding a second apple ID that already exists?
    Really appreciated,
    Daniel

We have multiple devices in our family.  On each iPad/iPhone each user has their own apple id for iMessage, Facetime and icloud, but we all sign in to the same apple id for itunes.  When one of my kids comments on my shared photostream, it shows my name and not theirs as the commenter.  How do I fix that?

    CREATE A NEW USER
Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Users & Groups
Decide on whether to setup as Admin or Standard User.
Switch to the New User by logging out under the Apple in the Menu Bar or use Fast User Switching
Fast User Switching allows other users to leave current applications and windows open. Depending on RAM, you might need to log out rather than use FUS.

  • My apple id is not working when it comes to signing in for FaceTime and IMessage

It keeps saying an unknown error has occured. I have made sure that my apple id is verified and it works in itunes but it won't sign me in for my imessage or facetime account

It may just be a problem with the Apple servers - I had that happen to me on a few occasions when FaceTime and Messages first arrived on the scene. The only thing that I can suggest is trying again - you obviously know your Apple ID and password are correct or you wouldn't have been able to log on to thse forums.
See the "More Like This" to the right -->> maybe you'll find a better answer in one of those posts.
    Good luck,

This is an ongoing problem as you will see by searching the forum.
Out of curiosity, do you have 2 step verification enabled?  It was recently extended to include iMessage & FaceTime & I'm wondering if it might be causing some of the issues that some users are experiencing.
