Apple ID and Multiple Devices

Hello,
There is about 4 devices logged onto my Apple ID account. Two are my devices and two of them are "friends" devices, who now refuse to log out and stop using my Apple ID. Is there any place in the Apple ID settings where I can log off of my account on all devices connected then just log back in on my two? I have already changed the password and email. Please, any help is terrific!

What, exactly, are you trying to do? You can use the same iCloud account on as many devices as you want, as long as you don't turn on iTunes Match. Once you turn on Match, you're limited to 10 devices total.
Is this what you want to do...same iCloud account, but different iTunes/App store accounts on each device? If so, you can do that also.

  • HT201084 My family shares one Apple ID on multiple devices.  How do I switch everyone over to their own Apple ID without having to erase their iphones and ipads?

My family currently shares one Apple ID on multiple devices and has for quite awhile.  How do I switch everyone over to their own Apple ID and the Family Sharing without having to erase their iphones and ipads?

Thank you again for your time, GB.
I set up individual Apple ID's for my children so that they could have their own Apple ID on their individual iPad minis (gifts from grandparents last year).  When I go to iCloud under Settings, I see my Apple ID listed at the top, then my children's listed under Family Sharing.  So the device is still using my Apple ID for iCloud, iTunes, etc., correct?
To "assign" their own Apple ID to their own iPad mini, I would need to "Sign Out" from my Apple ID.  When I attempt to do so, I receive a warning that all of the Documents and Data will be lost/deleted.
So, instead of doing this, I figured out that I could do what you suggested.  Signing in using a child's Apple ID will allow her/him to use Game Center, FaceTime, and Messages just fine.  However, using their Apple ID for iTunes & App Store proved to be a problem:  Purchased Music and Movies appeared in iTunes, but my Purchased Apps did not appear.  Some Apps even disappeared, e.g. Proloquo4Text (a $99 app to help my son speak with his iPad).
So I reverted to using my Apple ID for iTunes & App Store, and I get everything that I want, EXCEPT for the iCloud storage for each Apple ID.
So that's when I started wondering how Family Sharing was really benefiting me ~ It was a lot of work (deleting apps to allow space to download iOS 8, etc) without any benefit that I can see.  UNLESS I find a means to allow me to sign in each iPad's iCloud account with a different AppleID, then perhaps restore the Documents and Data from a backup?  Would that work?
    Thanks.

  • I have one apple ID for multiple devices in my family.  I'd like to keep it that way for itunes/app purchases.  I would like a simple step 1, step 2, step 3 response on what I need to do to separate all other features like imessage, contacts, emails, etc.

I have one apple ID for multiple devices in my family.  I'd like to keep it that way for itunes/app purchases.  I would like a simple step 1, step 2, step 3 response on what I need to do to separate all other features like imessage, contacts, emails, etc.
I have been reasearching how to do this on the internet, but I haven't found an easy explanation yet.  My family is going crazy over each others imessages being sent to others in the family and not being able to use FaceTime because of conflicting email addresses.  I have read that if each person gets their own iCloud account, this would work.  However, I need to know what to do after I set everyone up with their own iCloud account.  Do I make that the default email address to be contacted or can they still use their hotmail email addresses.  Any help- with easy explanation- would be much appreciated!!

We do this in my family now.  We have one account for purchases, so it is used to share music and apps (I think that is in Settings/iTunes & App Stores).  Each iDevice has this configured.
Then, each of us has our own iCloud account that is configured under Settings/iCloud.  That then allows us to have our own Mail/Contacts/Calendars/Reminders/Safari Bookmarks/Notes/Passbook/Photo Stream/Documents & Data/Find My iPhone/and Backup.  That Backup piece is pretty sweet and comes in handly if you replace your iDevice.  You can just restore from it.
So we all share the Apple Store account but we all have our own iCloud accounts to keep the rest seperate or things like you mentioned are a nightmare.
In answer to what iCloud does for you: http://www.apple.com/icloud/features/
Think of it as an internet based ("cloud") area for all of those items listed in my response.  What you need to remember is photo stream only maintans the last 1000 pictures so don't count it as a complete backup solution for your pictures.  Even though I rarely sync with a computer these days, I do still try to sync my phone with iPhoto (I have an iMac) so that I have copies of all of my pictures.  1000 may not stretch as far as it sounds.

  • Same apple id for multiple devices

I have been use the same apple id for multiple devices (both are iPhones running iOS 6 - one is a 4, the other a 4S.) I'd like to sync separate content for each device using the same instance of iTunes (iTunes V 10.7 installed on MacBook running OS X 10.6.8.) Can I assign the second device a separate apple id in odrer to differentiate the content? Thanks for your assistance!

No, a second Apple ID will not work. iTunes can already tell them apart.
When you connect the first iPhone to iTunes, check and uncheck the things you want and Sync.
Do the same with the second iPhone.

  • I am using my Apple ID on multiple devices for other people. How can I make icloud work only for my devices?

I am using my Apple ID on multiple devices for other people in my family and now I am getting a new iphone and want to take only the information on my old iphone to the new one without the information on the other devices using the same account. Is there a way to do that?
Also, for the future can I use multiple addresses and apple IDs for the same credit card information?
    Thanks in advance,
    Marian

Ok, so you want to remove data (contacts, bookmarks, calendar etc) from other users from your iCloud/Apple ID?
If you want to use your ID for your family because it is the account everybody uses to buy stuff then you only need to ensure that your apple ID is set up in the store (settings-store) and then the users of each device and put their own apple ID in icloud/message/facetime/etc.
To set up your device, in my opinion, it is best to back up to itunes, and then plug your new device into itunes and "set up as ..." and select the backup from your device.  This will import all your data/settings and your new device will be set up just like your old one.
I am not certain about using the same payment method for more than one account.

  • Can I use the same Apple ID for multiple devices

Can I use the same Apple ID for multiple devices?

Yes. Up to five devices can be authorized on a single computer using the same Apple ID. You can also use the same Apple ID on multiple devices is they are all going to use the same iTunes Library by the same user. But it's ill-advised if multiple users are involved who wish to keep their devices separate from the devices belonging to other users.
How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer
Using More than One iDevice on the Same Computer
This applies mainly to couples who are adding another device and do not want their email, messages, etc. being duplicated on both devices. To begin read: How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer. You need to establish a separate Apple ID and password for whomever will use the new iDevice. See Apple - My Apple ID and Frequently asked questions about Apple ID. The easiest way is to do this on the computer using iTunes: iTunes- How to set up an Apple ID within iTunes.
On the computer create a new user account for the person with the new iDevice. This will be the user account that person will always use. He/She will no longer use the other user account. This way that person will have a separate iTunes Library
Start by transferring the new device(s) to a new account along with all your data.  Save any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless they are already in the camera roll) by opening your Photos app, tap on Albums icon at the bottom. Now, tap on My Photo Stream album; tap Select; tap on the photos you want to select;, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow) in the lower left corner; then tap Save to Camera Roll.
If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep then you need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself. Later you can copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.
Tap on Settings > iCloud > Delete Account (only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; the person keeping the current account will not be affected,) provide the password to turn off Find My Phone and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted.  Sign in with a different Apple ID to create your new account. Choose Merge to upload your data.
Once you are on separate accounts, you can each go to icloud.com and delete the other person's data from your account.
Note: The essence of the above was created by user, randers4. I
have made substantial changes to improve readability and syntax.

  • HT204053 I am using my apple ID on multiple devices

I am using my apple ID on multiple devices, i.e. 3 iPhones, 4 iPads, MacAir, MacPro etc....Up until today we have been able to use FaceTime on any device to contact each other. Today for some reason we can no longer faceTime each other from any of our devices. For the iPhones the only 2 selections we have chosen are the cell number for the iPhone and our Apple ID. This is the same for our iPads. We are able to iMessage with no problem. These settings have been working for the last several years. Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm experiencing the exact same issue. I was able to use FaceTime perfectly fine across multiple devices on one Apple ID, but as of the 15th or 16th can't get it to work on any device.

  • Are Apple TV and recording devices compatible

I am considering switching from cable to Apple TV.  However, I would like to know if Apple TV and recording devices are compatible.

AppleTVs don't get authorised as such in the way you would an iTunes library on a computer.
Apple introduced this email system about 18 months ago from memory, to alert you the first time someone makes a new purchase with your credentials on an iOS device/computer you've never used before.
They seem like an annoyance but probably not a bad thing in reality.
So long as it coincides with such an event the email is likely to be genuine.

  • HT204053 using same apple id on multiple devices

Can you set up multiple devices(iphone, itouch, ipad) with the same apple id?

I have four devices using my Apple ID and I have all four setup to use messages and FaceTime on all of them by using different email addresses as the "contact at" email address.
Go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive at>You can be reached for iMessages at>Add another email address. She can add her personal email address. Apple will verify it - it will say "verifying". Go the inbox of that email account and respond to Apple's email in order to complete the verification process.
Then go back to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive at>You can be reached for iMessages at>Uncheck your email address as the contact address and check hers to select it as the contact address.
Do the same thing in the FaceTime settings in the appropriate fields.

Do I create seperate apple Id's for my ipod and iphone, I want to share my itunes library with both devices?

    amy_lou wrote:

You can share the ID for iMessage and iCloud, no problem.  In fact, some people prefer it that way to get messages across multiple devices and/or get iCloud e-mail across multiple devices and/or share a photo stream without having to manually Share a photo stream.
The only problem with using the same ID for iMessage and FaceTime is if different people use the devices.  In that case, all one has to do is de-select the ID in the "Receive at..." setting and designate a different e-mail address.
