Apple-ID disabled daily - clueless people cause it, but can Apple fix it?

I have a particular problem with an Apple-ID belonging to a family member. Her Apple-ID is disabled almost daily, forcing her to unlock it using two-step verification (a trusted device and her Recovery Key). Sometimes - unclear why - unlocking isn't possible, forcing her to change the password everywhere.
There's a particular reason for this, we suspect.
She has an iCloud/MobileMe/.mac/iTools-address from way back. It's a really nice adress, consisting of just her given name followed by @mac/@me/@icloud. Problem is, her given name is quite common in the world. It would be totally impossible to get an address like that today, you'd have to be one of the first signing up for iTools in 2000 to get it.
Nevertheless, quite often people with the same given name seem to think they've managed to sign up for it. So they hand it out to friends, sign up for newsletters and services, and try to login to it themselves. And as a result, Apple disables the password - presumably after a certain number of login attempts.
I'm totally confident the broad majority of these shut-downs aren't caused by malice. I'm pretty sure the account has never been compromised. It's just people - and many different persons, in many different countries - with no clue at all, trying to login and/or resetting the password. There are many, many stray emails, iMessages and even FaceTime calls from total strangers that supports this theory. It is actually people thinking they managed to get that address and Apple-ID. You'd think it is impossible to not notice the "that Apple-ID/iCloud address is already in use, please choose another" messages but... Judging from the emails and iMessages, the majority of intended recipients speaks Spanish, so maybe its a language problem.
This always intensifies after Christmas, as millions of iPhones and iPads get into the hands of newbies.
We thought it would get better after enabling two-step verification; that it would make it harder to force a password reset. But after the past holidays it has accelerated to insane levels.
An Apple-ID is today used for so many things that it is really important that it stays active. Someone causes it to be disabled = you don't get any iMessages, for instance. Or, suddenly all of your calendars are gone from people you share them with, as they can't access them either. And you usually won't notice anything's wrong until you go to iCloud.com and try to sign in.
I guess this happens to all people with Apple-ID:s or iCloud addresses like [email protected] or [email protected]. Is there anything Apple can do to prevent this? Is there anything we can do, besides abandoning this Apple-ID?
We have reported it to Apple using various forms, but no replies.

No, you can't. The OP's Apple ID is also the account's @mac.com address since she goes back to iTools, and while if an Apple ID has been created using a non-Apple email address it can be changed, if it's the @mac.com etc. address which is also the iCloud primary address it can't be changed. In this circumstance (which has been a problem for a number of people) that restriction is rather a nuisance and it's difficult to see a way round this.
@Jan Rendall: I don't know what method you've been using to contact Apple, but I would regard this as a serious security issue and that's the approach you should take. This Apple Help page provides contact information for various countries for security problems with an Apple ID:

The ideal would be for Apple to arrange for the ID to change to a non-Apple address (have one available) - this would solve the login problems though not the daft emails - I've no idea whether they are able or willing to do this, but if you don't get a good response at first ask to escalate it to a higher level and dig your heels in. What is odd about all this is that 2-step verification should have put a stop to this since without the code which has been sent to the trusted device a person trying to log in cannot proceed; you should raise that point with Apple.

    If it's showing the red disabled screen due to incorrect passcodes then you may need to put the iPad into recovery mode : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808 - you should then be able to reset the iPad via your computer's iTunes and restore/resync your content to it

    Ive had to reboot my Apple TV before I had the option to enable iTunes Match but it did not see my music library. I tried a second reboot and it still says my music library is empty.     And it's totally impractical for any OS to provide complete backwards compatibility in perpetuity. So no, Apple cannot grant your request. As WJ said, it's the developers' reponsibility to provide updates to their applications to be compatible with newer operating system releases, whatever the platform might be.

  • Flash Animations and Movies are lagging after having played a flash game which was graphics intense heavy and frequently refreshed which caused lags, how can I fix this lagging problem for Flash?

    On June 30th, I was playing a game called Lil Einstein's Manhattan project over at Newgrounds.com and the game although fine at first, later on in the advanced levels of the game, started to cause my browser to lag intensely and heavily. Now, when I try and watch other flash movies and animations, the flash doesn't run as smoothly, there are skips in the flash animations and movies, and it slows down.
    I tried scan disks, I tried defragmenting my computer, I tried uninstalling and re-installing Firefox.. Nothing worked to restore the Flash.
    But when I view Flash movies and animations on Internet Explorer, they run fine... but not anymore on Firefox.
    Other Firefox users who have played this game also reported problems as well..
    How can I fix my Firefox Browser and return the Flash running to normal?

    If you have already scanned PC with an updated Anti-Virus and still the issue exists then I would suggest some troubleshooting techniques to resolve this problem:
    Update browser
    Remove unwanted Add-ons
    Remove unwanted Tool-bars
    Repair Registry
    Repair ActiveX objects and shared DLLs
    In case of facebook and Zynga I would suggest to Check for Problems with your Internet Connection.Try to Update Java and Reduce the Number of Running Internet Applications.
    Sometimes Multimedia content lag due to Hardware Acceleration, so disabling Hardware Acceleration should fix your problem.
    Open Flash Video in browser
    Right click on Video Player | Settings
    Open Display Panel
    Uncheck Enable Hardware Acceleration

ITunes then will say that if found a device in recovery mode.

  • ISight Noise interference - I know what is causing it, but how to fix it?

    Hi,
    I bought a MacBook in April, and from day one I had this interfering noise with the iSight. Unfortunately for me, the iSight was one of the main reasons I bought a mac.
    I looked online and there is no fix, there is no suggestions because there is "a small number of users with this problem" (which I doubt for some reason) or that nobody knows why its doing it.
    I continued to use the iSight after I figured that editing the sound with the EQ reduces it, but its a tedious task. And the noise is never actually gone, just reduced.
    By chance I was recording with the iSight outside on a sunny day. And would you believe the sound that was recoded came out crystal clear. I took it home and I tried recording again and the interfering noise was back.
    The only difference that I could think of between the two recordings was light. Outside was really bright out, but inside it was it wasn't as half as bright.
    So to test this, I got my lamp and I held it up against the iSight and I started taking. The sound was perfect. Take it away let the camera adjust to the darker room and it was back to the usual tricks.
    So now that I know the auto brightness feature of the iSight causes this noise, I downloaded iGlasses to mess around with contrast and brightness etc. ... no luck. Still had the noise.
    So I'm here wondering, if there will ever be an apple fix for the auto perfect picture thing on the iSight because recording in the shade just causes an interfering noise. And living in Ireland we never get that many sunny days. So I cant use direct sunlight all the time.
    Any suggestions would be nice.

    Did you contact Apple during your 90 day warranty of free phone tech support? Do you have AppleCare?

    Change the email on the old account to another new, current email address.
    An email address can only be linked to one Apple ID.
    It is possible to have content from multiple Apple ID's on a single iDevice.
