Apple ID for different devices?

I have an iPad2 and I just purchased an iPad Mini for my wife.
I want to be able to transfer my app purchases on my iPad2 to my wife's iPad Mini, and to do so, I know that I have to use the same Apple ID for her iPad Mini as I have for my iPad2.
How will keeping the same Apple ID for the two devices affect the following:
1) Can my wife set up a different email address for her account for her Mail app on her iPad Mini than I am using on my iPad2?
2) Will having the same Apple ID affect our ability to communicate with each other using FaceTime on our two devices?

1. Your wife can set up her own email account on her Mini without any issues at all.
2. You can use one Apple ID one both devices and set up and use FaceTime and Messages on both devices without having to set up another Apple ID. You will howver have to add an additional email address for her to be contacted at in the FaceTime and Messages setting - and then remove the Apple ID email address as the "contact at" email address from the settings in both apps.
I have 4 devices (including my Mac) that I use one Apple ID on and can FaceTime and Message from all devices to all devices because I entered different contact at email addresses on 3 of the devices.
You may want to consider having your wife set up an Apple ID just to make it easier to use FaceTime and Messages and so that she can have her own iCloud account. If she will sync with iTunes and has no real interest in iCloud, having her own ID will be a non issue in that regard.

Yes you can, you just need to go into settings and into icloud, once it says account, login to your desired account

You can not login into iTunes or the App Store using VPP credentials. You must purchase all apps/book/etc. from the VPP website. Then you can redeem the codes thru itunes/app store or import the codes thru apple configurator. (It will not affect any of the apps you already have but the id can only be used for VPP.)

Yes. Up to five devices can be authorized on a single computer using the same Apple ID. You can also use the same Apple ID on multiple devices is they are all going to use the same iTunes Library by the same user. But it's ill-advised if multiple users are involved who wish to keep their devices separate from the devices belonging to other users.

This applies mainly to couples who are adding another device and do not want their email, messages, etc. being duplicated on both devices. On the computer create a new user account for the person with the new iDevice. This will be the user account that person will always use. He/She will no longer use the other user account. This way that person will have a separate iTunes Library
Start by transferring the new device(s) to a new account along with all your data. Save any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless they are already in the camera roll) by opening your Photos app, tap on Albums icon at the bottom. Now, tap on My Photo Stream album; tap Select; tap on the photos you want to select;, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow) in the lower left corner; then tap Save to Camera Roll.
If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep then you need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself. Later you can copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.
Tap on Settings > iCloud > Delete Account (only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; the person keeping the current account will not be affected,) provide the password to turn off Find My Phone and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted. Sign in with a different Apple ID to create your new account. Choose Merge to upload your data.
Once you are on separate accounts, you can each go to icloud.com and delete the other person's data from your account.

Here's what I do. My wife and I each have an iPhone. We each have our own Apple ID. I also have another totally separate Apple ID. The ONLY thing that one has been used for was to set up Find my iPhone for our phones and my iPad. There is no reason the MobileMe setting for find my iphone can't be something completely different from your regular Apple ID UNLESS you already use MobileMe, in which case the 2 conflict in ways I don't understand as I don't subscribe to it.

You can if they are all using the same iCloud account (ID). The app will only display the devices using the iCloud account that the app is currently signed into. If your devices are using different accounts, with different IDs, you will need to sign out, then sign back in with the iCloud ID being used on the device you are trying to locate.

I have been reasearching how to do this on the internet, but I haven't found an easy explanation yet. My family is going crazy over each others imessages being sent to others in the family and not being able to use FaceTime because of conflicting email addresses. I have read that if each person gets their own iCloud account, this would work. However, I need to know what to do after I set everyone up with their own iCloud account. Do I make that the default email address to be contacted or can they still use their hotmail email addresses. Any help- with easy explanation- would be much appreciated!!

We do this in my family now. We have one account for purchases, so it is used to share music and apps (I think that is in Settings/iTunes & App Stores). Each iDevice has this configured.
Then, each of us has our own iCloud account that is configured under Settings/iCloud. That then allows us to have our own Mail/Contacts/Calendars/Reminders/Safari Bookmarks/Notes/Passbook/Photo Stream/Documents & Data/Find My iPhone/and Backup. That Backup piece is pretty sweet and comes in handly if you replace your iDevice. You can just restore from it.
So we all share the Apple Store account but we all have our own iCloud accounts to keep the rest seperate or things like you mentioned are a nightmare.

Think of it as an internet based ("cloud") area for all of those items listed in my response. What you need to remember is photo stream only maintans the last 1000 pictures so don't count it as a complete backup solution for your pictures. Even though I rarely sync with a computer these days, I do still try to sync my phone with iPhoto (I have an iMac) so that I have copies of all of my pictures. 1000 may not stretch as far as it sounds.

I have been use the same apple id for multiple devices (both are iPhones running iOS 6 - one is a 4, the other a 4S.) I'd like to sync separate content for each device using the same instance of iTunes (iTunes V 10.7 installed on MacBook running OS X 10.6.8.) Can I assign the second device a separate apple id in odrer to differentiate the content? Thanks for your assistance!

No, a second Apple ID will not work. iTunes can already tell them apart.
When you connect the first iPhone to iTunes, check and uncheck the things you want and Sync.
Do the same with the second iPhone.

Here's the deal: The SLA permits the "sharing" of content with up to 5 family members in the same household. Any other distribution of content is considered stealing...the SLA does not give you the right to distribute content in any way, shape or form. Its really that simple, and "friend" is NOT a family member living in the same household.

What's best practice to create the same mobile app for different device models (= different screen resolutions = different layout)?
I mean an app on a smartphone may use different gui components and layout than on a tablet device.
In adfmf-feature.xml the content of a feature can be either a amx page or a task flow.
Here I can add a constraint to determine e.g. the device.model and use different amx pages depending on the device model.
But how to reuse the task flow (assumtion: the taskflow is independent from the device model) and just create specific amx page per device model?

With ADF Mobile 11.1.2.4.0, to display different content views for different devices, it is recommended that we use following property as a constraint on the content of the feature.

I'm not entirely sure if this is what you are asking, however you cannot use another account without losing the ability to update the apps that you have bought under another account.
