Apple ID for Enterprise

Hello,
I work at a large organization and we are interested in using iPads for certain business functions. Currently we have a few in the environment. The Apple IDs for these devices are personal ones that belong to the user who it is assigned to. We would like to rollout some general use iPads that will not be used by specific users. We plan to lock down these devices with an MDM we already have in place.
My question is, what Apple ID should I be using for these devices? Should generic ones be created, with no credit card linked to them? And then must the VPP be used to purchase apps and have the keys pushed out via the MDM? I must admit, Apple's documentation for using an iPad in a real world enterprise environment is poor. Too much useless information, no answers that are actually useful. Anyway, I just want to set these devices up in a proper way. Not some overcomplicated work around. From what I have gathered, my only choice is to create an apple id for each device with no credit card, sign up for the VPP (by the way, the link to enroll has been dead all week..great way to do business), and then use our MDM to push keys to the apple id's for each device. If I do so this way, then our corporate credit card only has to be linked to the VPP account, correct? Also, we are a non profit, will the VPP account verify this so we can purchase apps without tax?
Thanks for any information, this whole process is starting out way more complicated then it should be.

We ran into this situation when we started looking at providing iPhones to our employees replacing their blackberries.  Employees were concerned about using their credit cards, etc for a company provided phone, but we didn't want to give everyone our credit card number for iTunes.  Here are some suggestions from my experience:
1. For VPP you use 1 account separate from ANY iTunes account that is only used for VPP enrollment and purchasing.  This cannot be used to download free apps from the App store I believe.
2. 1 Apple ID can be used on multiple devices, you can create a generic apple ID and give this ID to everyone to use.  Be warned there are issues...if they use this account for iCloud, iMessage, etc then all the messages and content can show up on others devices, a huge privacy concern.  Each uesr can create their own ID on the iPhone/iPad and it does not require a credit card.  You are only required to enter the credit card information if you create the account from within iTunes, not on the device itself.
3.  Apple has a MAC only software called Apple Configurator, you essentially can clone an iOS device to other devices.  Essentially its a ghosting process for iOS and can be used to back up and restore individual users settings who might use a different iPad every day/week.
4..Apple needs to enhance their business support....

  • Is the $99 Apple iOS developer program ok for Enterprise DPS subscribers?

Is the standard $99/year Apple iOS developer account all that is required if you have an Adobe Enterprise DPS subscription or do you need to enrol in the more expensive $299/year Apple iOS developer Enterprise program for DPS enterprise functionality, such as in-app purchases, push notifications etc?

You just need the $99 version for the features you mentioned. Get the $299 Enterprise version only if you have an Enterprise DPS account and want to create private enterprise apps.

  • How create lot of apple id for my enterprise on my laptop with itune?

    Dear all,
I have read many informations about my problem but no official solution.
My company want to deploy 350 iphone for our employee.
I must create one apple ID per user.
I want to do this with itune on my laptop (easy to create) but i have read this : You cannot create more than 10 account with the same IP ADRESS...
Question : Is it possible to whitelist my IP ADRESS or any other solution to create all of accounts on my laptop ?
    MANY MANY THANKS.

I still think that what you're looking to accomplish is an unneccesary burden on you.
What I would do in this case is to use Airwatch and provision each phone how you want and then assign a company apple ID that you will use for iCloud settings.  This would enable you to possibly track the device and disabled it using activation lock should one get lost or stolen.
Then give the phone to the users and let them use their own personal apple ID for the iTunes and App Stores. I guarantee  that most, if not all the users you'll be giving the phones to already have an Apple ID, so why would they want to use another one created by someone else when all their billing info is attached to their own personal account.

  • I am using the Good for Enterprise app to synch my outlook email and when I try to turn on ICloud to synch my music in ITunes I get a warning that I will not be able to synch my Iphone 4S with my computer.  Does this mean my office PC or home Mac?

I am using Good For Enterprise on my Iphone 4s to connect with my Office PC Outlook email system.  I am having trouble synching my Itunes music from my Mac at home with my IPhone 4s.  I am considering using ICloud to share the music as I also have an IPad2.  When I go to turn on the ICloud application, I get a message that alerts me to the fact I will no longer be able to synch with my computer.  Does that mean with my Office PC and my Outlook email, or my Mac and my home email and other applications?  I want to use the ICloud but don't want to screw up my Good for Enterprise application and connectivity with my Office PC and Outlook email.  What should I do to be able to update all my tunes and photos on my IPhone 4S and IPad2 from my Mac?

I seem to never tire of saying this. It was for Apple when they first announced 10.7 to disclose this. Yes, it was widely reported -- or rather, rumored -- but not by Apple. And many people who have gotten caught by this assumed that Apple itself would have told them beforehand about the loss of this very important feature which they had come to rely on. As far as I know, not even in fine print, does this appear anywhere on the Lion announcement or any of its links.
I am not saying Apple had to continue Rosetta in Lion, or forever, just that if it was going to be dropped, it should have been made known.
As relative "insiders" we should not forget that many people don't have the time, habit or interest to do this kind of research. I think it is a breach of trust that Apple has never directly made this announcement or given people the opportunity to decide beforehand if giving up their PPC apps for a new OS is a worthwhile tradeoff.

  • Understand the technical base for Enterprise Services?

    Hi all,
I am trying to understand what is the technical base for enterprise services and the restrictions when activating them. The best documents I have found are:
Note 1566412 u2013 Enhancement package 6 for SAP ERP 6.0.
Note 1359215 u2013 Technical prerequisites for using enterprise services
sdn blog u201CDetermin the SOA readiness of your System with the ES Workplace (Part 1 and 2)
    EHP Master Guide - https://websmp107.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001183052011E
The documents are quite informative, however there are still questions. Maybe someone can shed some light of these:
1.) Is my understanding correct that Enterprise services can have three different base u201Cmodulesu201D?:
    a. An EHP (with relation to a business function).
    b. The swc u201CESA ECC-SE 60xu201D (without relation to a business function). E.G. ES Bundle "Bank Communication Management".
    c. The SWC u201CSAP APPLu201D (without relation to a business function). E.G. u201CBusinessPartnerERPUpdateRequestConfirmation_Inu201D
2.) Is it possible to activate enterprise services (bundles) that rely on business functions after a EHP installation or ONLY during the EHP installation?
3.) Is it possible to activate enterprise services with base u201CESA ECC-SE 60xu201D after a EHP installation or ONLY during the EHP installation?
4.) Is SWC u201CESA ECC-SE 60xu201D a u201Ctechnicalu201D business function, whose activation cannot be reverted either? If yes what effect has the activation von u201CESA ECC-SE 60xu201D on the current ERP customizing?
5.) How do the Enterprise Services relate with Service Interface definitions from SAP Process Integration (XI Content)?
Do I need the XI Content with the service interfaces in ES Repository (and SPROXY) only if the communication is B2B (with PI) or also if the communication is Point-2-Point (without PI)?
    Thanks for your feedback!
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
I'll try and provide answers where I can...
1.) Is my understanding correct that Enterprise services can have three different base u201Cmodulesu201D?:
I personally don't agree with this understanding. Enterprise Services would always relate to some or other business function, unless we have a different understanding of what "Business Function" means . What changes is how the Enterprise Services (or versions of them) are delivered.
SAP APPL for example would be relevant to most of the enterprise services shipped with a standard ECC EHP*. So it will relate to the business functionality for the applications that are shipped with an ECC installation.
2.) Is it possible to activate enterprise services (bundles) that rely on business functions after a EHP installation or ONLY during the EHP installation?
I don't understand this question but I'll try and offer a generic answer. You can activate/use Enterprise Services whenever you want to as long as they are already available in your current installation. If they are only available in an EHP that you don't have yet then you will need to upgrade (but I also seem to recall some workarounds - SAP notes - as an alternative to upgrading).
3.) Is it possible to activate enterprise services with base u201CESA ECC-SE 60xu201D after a EHP installation or ONLY during the EHP installation?
You decide when you would like to activate it, it's generally after. SAP will ship them anyway.
4.) Is SWC u201CESA ECC-SE 60xu201D a u201Ctechnicalu201D business function, whose activation cannot be reverted either? If yes what effect has the activation von u201CESA ECC-SE 60xu201D on the current ERP customizing?
There is a tool call Impact Analyzer, read up a little on it. It allows you to do an impact analysis before activating. It might also help posting a separate thread on of the ECC functional forums here on SCN for more impact analysis. I'm not sure if the activation can be reverted.
5.) How do the Enterprise Services relate with Service Interface definitions from SAP Process Integration (XI Content)?
The XI Content is the design equivalent of the Enterprise Services as you see them in SPROXY. It's only relevant in certain cases, examples:
    - If you want to enhance standard SAP Enterprise Services
    - If you want to do additional transformation/s & routing.
If you are planning P2P type communication, then the XI content is not relevant. One thing to be aware of though is if you have your backend ECC system connected to your PI ESR, the view that you get in SPROXY will reflect the SWC view of the ESR. So you might want to download the XI Content & import it into your PI ESR anyway.

  • ITunes U for Enterprise internal training

I would like to know if iTunes U is avaible to be used for Enterprise doing its internal training?
If yes what is the enrollement process, if not is there any future products from Apple to support our requirements?

Apple has said nothing about expanding iTunes U to use by anyone other than K-12 school districts and colleges and universities. My guess is that they never will, though I can't speak for Apple and they've surprised me in the past, so you can keep hoping. I would suggest you not hold off on finding other solutions waiting for Apple to change their terms, though.

  • Apple IDs for loan devices

Roger has very handily answered one question regarding separating the two devices that had been on one Apple ID.
As part of my job I also am purchasing 4 devices, which will all have to be set up with unique Apple IDs. All I can think of is setting them to link in to one email address. How to set up those IDs without putting in credit card details is a major problem, however. These devices will be on short-term loan to disabled users, none of whom should be able to install or alter anything by using the relevant Apple ID for the specific device.
Any user obviously can set up their own Apple ID, with their own credit card details, if they wish to purchase software to use on the device. It is just the initial Apple ID and assistive software installation for each device that we are having problems working our way around.
Has anyone got any ideas about how this might be managed? Surely enterprise users of iPads must run into these problems all of the time, and I don't think that all of them would have a corporate credit card. The problem is because, as far as I know, no one can set up an Apple ID without putting in credit card details. Although this is not an issue if it is on one's own device, it could be problematic if this is on a loan device.
    I welcome any suggestions.

  • Apple iPads for our Corporation

    Hello,
We want to give out iPads to our employees. But we want to configure the iPads the way we want it. We already saw you had the MDM, first of all I want to notice that we have an custom made App which is NOT located in the Application store, is it still possible to add this app through iTunes (Like we used to do) and then Sync it with other devices?
Is it possible to open MDM with Windows? If not are there any alternatives? Because we are a Dutch country, there is no App called MDM, do we need the Apple Configurator?
We need around 25 iPads, 5 for every location. Do we need 5 different iTunes account, or can we just use a single one?
As you can see we still have many questions, we would appreciate if someone can answer them!
    Thank you in advance!
    Rick

    Hi Rick,
Yes, you can install custom apps via most mobile device management (MDM) services. There are dozens of MDMs available. Here's a good list of MDMs: http://www.enterpriseios.com/wiki/Comparison_MDM_Providers
Many MDMs are web based that work on a number of platforms (Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, Chrome OS, etc). I think you will find many that will work with Windows.
Apple Configurator is a good iPad management tool, but doesn't offer the flexibility of OTA management (that's where MDM comes in).
Regarding Apple IDs… legally, if 25 iPads are used by 25 different people you will need 25 individual Apple IDs. In your scenario, you can't legally use 1 account (unless you are using Apple Configurator).
For multiple users like in schools or businesses you need to use VPP to purchase multiple licenses (can't share one Apple ID for 10 devices used by 10 employees). http://www.apple.com/business/vpp/
    APP STORE PRODUCT USAGE RULES
( i )If you are an individual acting in your personal capacity, you may download and sync an App Store Product for personal, noncommercial use on any iOS Device you own or control.
( ii ) If you are a commercial enterprise or educational institution, you may download and sync an App Store Product for use by either (a) a single individual on one or more iOS Devices used by that individual that you own or control or (b) multiple individuals, on a single shared iOS Device you own or control. For example, a single employee may use an App Store Product on both the employee's iPhone and iPad, or multiple students may serially use an App Store Product on a single iPad located at a resource center or library. For the sake of clarity, each iOS Device used serially by multiple users requires a separate license.
If you are an educational institution or business you will want to enroll in Apple's Volume Purchase Program (VPP) which allows a single Apple ID to purchase multiple licenses of an app. Most developers will offer a 50% discount on their app when 20 or more VPP licenses are purchased in a single transaction.
With Apple Configurator you can distribute the VPP codes to your fleet of iPads. Apple Configurator uses a single Apple ID to install apps on your iPads. Configurator will also allow you to install free apps on multiple iPads using a single Apple ID.

  • Export for Enterprise Deployment

I haven't seen anyone talk about this yet, but is there a way to package a Flash app for iPad/iPhone for enterprise deployment? Apple does this with their XCode development tool. It's always the common sense stuff that Adobe leaves out and never has any information on.
    Thanks.

Have you found out the solution yet?  I am faced with the same issue and need to deploy to a client ASAP.  I need to know what the publishing setting would be: Debug, Ad-Hoc, or App store. I thing that the App store one should be used. I will be giving my client both a debug and an App store version. We will see what happens.

  • One apple ID for multiple family members

    Hi,
We are new to the Iphone products.  We have shared an Apple ID since christmas with my two children to help control what they are downloading etc on thier Iphones.  Currently for some unknown reason when one of my children send me text message it comes accross to my phone as an email address which is what is used as our apple ID from when I originally got us set up for the ipods from years ago.  since getting the Iphones this all of a sudden seams to be an issue with only one of our phones.
Any suggestions how to fix this?  We deleted the icloud accounts, and have done the "soft" reimage per verizon wireless.  Do we really have to set our children up with thier own email addresses and Apple ID's too?
    Any suggestions would be helpful.
    thank you,

To fix this go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and do one of the following:
    1.    Either uncheck the email address shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at" on both phones; or
    2.    If you want to continue to receive iMessages at this email address on one of your phones, on the other phone tap the Apple ID at the top, sign out, then sign back in using a different Apple ID (so both phones will be using a different Apple ID for iMessage).  Note: you can continue to share an Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and App stores.  It does not need to be the same as the ID you are using for iMessage, FaceTime and other services.
Because you are  using the same Apple ID for iMessage. To prevent this, on one of the phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the Apple ID, sign out, then sign in with a different Apple ID.  Note: you can continue to share an Apple ID for purchasing; it does not need to be the same as the ID you use for iMessage, FaceTime, iCloud and other services.
Also, to prevent merging your calendars and contacts if you are syncing these to the same iCloud account, be sure to set up separate iCloud accounts on each phone with separated IDs.

  • Should I have different Apple IDs for different family members or one?

We are four members in a family, sharing the same iMac computer but each having a separate device (such as an iPod, iPad and iPhone). I'm wondering if it would be best to have separate Apple IDs for each family member to manage things like iMessage, iTunes purchases and so on. I'd appreciate any advice you can provide. Cheers!

The ideal would be to have different Apple IDs for each member. This will allow them to set up their accounts as they like and be able to use iCloud without worrying about the possibility that other members can see their personal data. However, if you want to purchase an app for all the members, you will have to purchase it for each account

  • How do I create a new Apple ID for wife's new iPhone 6 Plus?

Our family has many Apple Devices (Mac Book Air, iMac, iPhone 6, iPad 3rd Gen. iPod 5th Gen. and as of today a new iPhone 6 Plus.  All of our Devices have always been using one Apple ID.  This has created zero issues until now.  With my wife's new iPhone 6 Plus I downloaded Find Friends and also Find My iPhone.  I can't find any way to set up her iPhone 6 Plus tied only to  her email address and cell phone number.  Whenever I open Find Friends on either device and select the appropriate email address it changes the other device to that email address for Find Friends.  I am beginning to think that now with two iPhones we will need to get my wife her own Apple ID.  When I went to Create an Apple ID using her email address it won't allow it because her email address is associated as an alternate under my Apple ID.  Reading Apple Support documents it shows using a common Apple ID for iTunes and App Store purchases but a separate Apple ID for iCloud if desired.  Bottom Line, I think I have to Delete her email address from My Apple ID Account so that I can use that email for her new Apple ID.  When I delete her email address from My Apple ID Account isn't that going to impact our shared Apps and iTunes Purchases?

    WiseJD wrote:

No, she can use the existing AppleID for purchasing and use her own new AppleID for content syncing. If you wish to, you can set up Family Sharing and add her to your iCloud family. That will enable you to share certain resources such as calendars.

  • I have one apple ID for multiple devices in my family.  I'd like to keep it that way for itunes/app purchases.  I would like a simple step 1, step 2, step 3 response on what I need to do to separate all other features like imessage, contacts, emails, etc.

I have one apple ID for multiple devices in my family.  I'd like to keep it that way for itunes/app purchases.  I would like a simple step 1, step 2, step 3 response on what I need to do to separate all other features like imessage, contacts, emails, etc.
I have been reasearching how to do this on the internet, but I haven't found an easy explanation yet.  My family is going crazy over each others imessages being sent to others in the family and not being able to use FaceTime because of conflicting email addresses.  I have read that if each person gets their own iCloud account, this would work.  However, I need to know what to do after I set everyone up with their own iCloud account.  Do I make that the default email address to be contacted or can they still use their hotmail email addresses.  Any help- with easy explanation- would be much appreciated!!

We do this in my family now.  We have one account for purchases, so it is used to share music and apps (I think that is in Settings/iTunes & App Stores).  Each iDevice has this configured.
Then, each of us has our own iCloud account that is configured under Settings/iCloud.  That then allows us to have our own Mail/Contacts/Calendars/Reminders/Safari Bookmarks/Notes/Passbook/Photo Stream/Documents & Data/Find My iPhone/and Backup.  That Backup piece is pretty sweet and comes in handly if you replace your iDevice.  You can just restore from it.
So we all share the Apple Store account but we all have our own iCloud accounts to keep the rest seperate or things like you mentioned are a nightmare.
In answer to what iCloud does for you: http://www.apple.com/icloud/features/
Think of it as an internet based ("cloud") area for all of those items listed in my response.  What you need to remember is photo stream only maintans the last 1000 pictures so don't count it as a complete backup solution for your pictures.  Even though I rarely sync with a computer these days, I do still try to sync my phone with iPhoto (I have an iMac) so that I have copies of all of my pictures.  1000 may not stretch as far as it sounds.

  • My family has multiple iOS devices, all with 1 Apple ID. With iCloud coming, should I create separate Apple IDs for each member of my family?

    Hello,
Between my family, we have 2 iPhones, multiple computers, iPads, and an Apple TV ALL tied in to the same Apple ID (the one I created when I got my first device). With iCloud coming, I wanted to know if I need to create separate Apple IDs for each family member (for emails, contacts, calendars, etc.). For instance, I would like to share certain contacts and a calendar with only my wife, all media between all family members, and have home sharing so that I can play/stream content on my Apple TV. Will there be a way to have multiple and distinct me.com accounts and yet share the same Apple ID?
Apologies for being verbose — just wanted to give ample info/background.
    Thanks,
    Jay.

I happened to stop at the Apple store yesterday for a separate issue and had a discussion about iCloud. Seems like this is how iCloud works (also, there's another thread on this forum that explains it well).
Each member of the family can have their own iCloud ID, which will be used for Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Apps, Bookmarks, Media, Photos, etc. and having this content synced automatically with a Mac (computer). The iCloud IDs work in tandem with the associated Apple ID — so while you cannot have multiple Apple IDs, you can certainly have multiple iCloud IDs tagged with a certain Apple ID.
While all this makes sense from the iOS device standpoint, I'm unclear on how things will sync with a Mac computer, especially if the family uses a single iMac with multiple login IDs for various members. For instance, I currently have an iMac and iTunes content resides in my Public folder, which my wife can still access when she logs in with her login ID. I'm guessing that I'll be able to set up her iCloud ID using her login, set up my iCloud ID using my login, while both our iMac logins will retain the same Apple ID. This would take care of syncing Photos, Contacts, Calendars, etc.
Another (not sure if unique) problem I face is our Address Book — right now, we have one GIANT address book with different groups set up. Certain groups sync to her iPhone, while others to mine. Some contacts are common between both of us. I'm hoping that if she/I updates a common contact, then the change will be reflected in both our groups of contacts. I hope this makes sense — for instance, I update a contact named Joe, and he's on my group of contacts in my iPhone. Hope iCloud updates the master contact card for Joe on the iMac, which would then automatically trigger the update on my wife's group of contacts—that Joe also belongs to— leading to an update on her iOS device as well.
    Apologies for the lengthy response..
