Apple ID for updates

I have two Apple ID 's. On my iPhone, in the settings/store/view apple ID is one of my correct apple ID's. When I click on the App icon and try to update existing apps, the drop down box has the incorrectly spelled apple ID displayed so even if I enter the correct password it does not work. How do I correct the spelling of the apple ID? I have tried to do it in the settings/store/view my apple ID but that does not work. Thanks.

Each app is associated to an Apple ID. When you go to update an app it wants the password for the Apple ID that originally purchased/downloaded that app. You can check the Apple ID for an app in iTunes by selecting the app and choosing Get Info from the File menu.
If the apps are free then you can delete the app and redownload it from the App Store using the Apple ID you want. If they were purchased you have to make a decision of whether you want to repurchase the app or just leave it with the other Apple ID.

You have to log in using the Apple ID that was used to purchase so you need that from you sister - or you have to delete the applications and purchase them yourself

  • Iphone using wrong apple id for updates

This has been working in the past but today it is not. I have updated to iOS software 7.1 (11D167) but I don't know if that caused this problem. I only know that I have successfully installed software updates in the past but when I tried today I could not.
I have 5 apps showing as needing updates. They are Bing Search, Lose It!, Yellow Pages and Ancestry. When I try to update all or even each one individually, it prompts me to sign in to iTunes Store and asks for the apple ID password and shows my apple id. What is showing is a very old ID and not my full email address. When I put my apple ID password in it does not recognize it.
I then decided to try and install a new app and see if the app store would have the correct apple ID. When I selected to install the new app, it prompted me for my apple ID password and had the correct apple ID (my full email address showing). I entered my apple ID and the install proceeded successfully.
I saw on another post that there might be old apple IDs in settings for messages, itunes store, etc. so I checked those settings and all of them have my correct full email address for the apple ID.
What's mostly frustrating is that these apps were free to start with so why do I have to enter in a password at all for the updates?
Does anyone know why my phone has reverted to an old apple ID for app updates only, and why now when it was working before? Is there a way I can get apple to destroy any reference to my old unused (and now unacceptable format) apple ID so that it won't pop up to haunt me again?
    Thanks for any guidance...

Delete the apps from the phone and re-download or re-purchase them with the ID you intend to use.

  • Apple ID for Updates and Extra Software

This may seem like dumb questions, but I am a Mac numbie:   Do I really need to setup an Apple ID for server updates?  And, do all of these user applications need to be here?
OK, I am a Windows sysadmin trying to help our Marketing department share their files via this Mini with the server OS.  Other then connecting this up to our KVM in the rack, it seems pretty easy to setup.

An Apple ID is associated with an iTunes account. It is required to download and install updates as well as upgrades to the Server/OS X software. The account requires a credit card except to obtain free software in iTunes. However, updates and upgrades for system software are done through the App Store which gets your account via the Apple ID you setup in iTunes.
But Apple has provisions for corparate users, so I suggest you contact them to see about what is needed to establish a corporate account. They probably don't require a credit card and can be done by PO or corporate credit card or direct billing.

  • App store will not accept my Apple ID for updates after installing Mavericks?

I have recently installed Mavericks on my Macbook Pro.  After installing it the two new updates for iPhoto and iMovie popped up.  I click on the 'update' icon and I am prompted for my Apple ID as usual.  After entering the correct ID the prompt disappears as if correct, but then re-appears asking for the password again.  The prompt does not actually say that the wrong Apple ID or password has been entered.  The updates do not install and the prompt remains.  I know I have the right ID because I can install other apps using the same ID.  I definitley have the right Apple ID.  Now I cannot open iPhoto because it says that the application is not compatible with the OS!  Has anyone got any tips on how to install these new updates and get around this error?  Any help would be appreciated.

Following the info from support I enrolled into something called Mac Up to Date program, then you give them your serial number, invoice, etc... and then they seem to review the information and decide whether you qualify or not. I am still waiting for the answer, but I seem to be eligible (bought my new iMac on the 2nd of October and a few days after it was announced that all new Macs would receive iWork for free, so I guess my computer qualifies as 'new' - it is a late 2013 model after all).
But right now all iWork apps still appear to me as paid apps on the Mac App Store. It would be much easier if they appeared as free apps right away, but it seems the Mac App Store is a bit temperamental. And then there is the problem with the iMovie and iPhoto updates, which some of us are unable to get and that it is not even generally acknowledged by the support staff.
All these issues with the App Store are surprising for a company that takes pride in making things 'easy'

  • How to change apple ID for updating applications?

When i first bought my iphone a friend put his apple ID so he could show me how to download apps.
Although now i have my own ID and download apps with this one - every time i try to update some apps his email address pops up for which I do not have the password to. Is there a way to remove his ID from my phone completely and update my apps with my own ID? Any kind of help would be great on this

Noble Seven, I actually did that deleted everything and then downloaded them again but for some reason it still does the same thing when i try to update them.
I've noticed that the other email pops up even on the apps that i downloaded with my own ID...
Thank you for trying to help guys

  • How to change apple Id for updating

My daughter has already signed into the app store on a different user on my mac . When I go to download or update apps on my user, I cannot do this because her apple ID has saved to the app store for the whole computer. As I  do not know her password, I am unable to update/download apps. I also cannot change the email address when doing this
Please can someone help me remove her apple ID so that I can put mine in?
    Thank-you

It is not whether it is straight forward or possible, it is that this is the security system in place to prevent both piracy of software and hacking of accounts.
Whose computer is it? Who set it up? Whose account has Administration privileges on this Mac? The Mac, OS X, the pre-installed software can only belong to one person, regardless of how many of you have user accounts on the Mac. It is only this one user who can update the software.

  • Change Apple ID for updates

I recently purchased a used Mac mini running Mavericks and I am unable to receive updates for Garageband as I cannot change the  apple ID from that of the previous user.  My account is the administrator and all other accounts were deleted. Is there anything I can do to change the  apple id in the update window?

The previous owner should have erased all applications, that are bound to the AppleID of the previous owner  (See: What to do before selling or giving away your Mac).  There is no way, that you can transfer the ownership of applications to your own AppleID and update them.
The safest thing for you to do would be to back up your data, then wipe the system drive by reformatting and set it up as a new mac, see:
OS X Mavericks: Erase and Reinstall

  • Changing apple id for updates

I am using a new apple ID on Itunes. My Ipad doesnt seem to know that and asks for a password for a defunct ID. How do I change the Ipad Apple ID?

Looks like, based on King_Penguin's note, any change of ID will require uninstalling/repurchasing previously bought apps if you wish to be able update them.  Are there any other situtations where this is the case?  I'm assuming one can update the credit card information without requiring a new id.  What about getting a new email, if for example your current email was compromised and requires not just a new password, but a new email address?  Or something as common as changing Internet providers or jobs.

  • Unlock apple id for updates and downloads

how do i cancel inapp purchases so i can do updates without having to pay for something i have no idea or need to purchase to use my appleid without restriction? idk i confused myself maybe you know what i mean.

And have you done that ? If you want to make in-app purchases or download paid-for apps then you will need to have a payment method on your account.
If you are just trying to download free apps and/or updates to apps and you are being prompted to review your account then see if this post by mountaingoatgirl lets you review it without needing to enter credit card details : https://discussions.apple.com/message/24303054
Or do you currently have a credit card on your account which is now out-of-date (if you have a card on your account then it needs to be valid)? If you do then do you get the 'none' option when you go to the payment details screen : tap on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and select 'View Apple ID' on the popup - that should give you a payments link on your account's page. • How do I update my iTunes store apple ID for updates?

When I get an update for my apps it comes up with my old e mail address for my apple ID, how do I change it? I already changed it in the settings menu but it won't change for my updates....

Apps are tied to the Apple ID with which they were purchased. You have to update those apps with the old ID. See if you can still use the old ID to update those apps.

  • How do I change my apple id for updates

I have been able to change my apple id on my phone but when i go to update my apps it is still asking me to sign in under my old id.  How can I change that?

Go to Settings/iTunes & App Store, sign out, and sign in with your updated Apple ID. This assumes that you just changed the Apple ID email address on your existing account. If you created a new Apple ID there is no way to do it; apps are forever associated with the account they were downloaded from.

  • Apple ID for updating is incorrect?

I just recently synced my iPhone and rebacked it up. It now will let me download new things using my regular apple ID. But when I want to download the new version of an app it shows my old user id.
I have done all the steps that I have found so far online.
    Thanks.
    Tommy

That has the correct info. I had to delete everything and while this works, still some things come up with the old ID. Apple won't help because I don't have apple care. It took them to do it last time.
