Apple ID/ iMessage trouble

Hi. Whenever I try to sign in my Apple ID to iMessage it doesn't work and says I need wifi when I clearly do. It works for game center but not iMessage. I also tried this on another iPad and it worked. This is very frustrating. Please help.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Then reconnect to your wifi and try again.
 Cheers, Tom

  • How long does Apple push iMessages?

My MacBook Pro has been offline for approx. two months now. When I started the iMessage App today there was no conversation from after the last time my notebook was online. Also I didn't receive new iMessages while being online. The address is the same on all my devices (iMac, iPod and MB Pro). I haven't changed any settings since the setup. So my question simply is how long does Apple push iMessages to iDevices? Even iMessages I had sent on Christmas from my iPad or iMac were not displayed. Although I restarted the app multiple times nothing changed. It would be interesting to know, if the "old" iMessages which were sent from my other devices can be synced to my MacBook in any possible way. Thanks for any help given.
I'm sorry for my bad English.

I'm confused guys... yesterday when I did the up-to-date, I was given the code right there in the online Apple store when the 'order' was processed - even tho it was listed as 'free'. Are you not even getting the order processed  in the Apple store?

  • IMessage trouble with two iPhones and one Apple ID

    Hi,
I'm having trouble with iMessage after updating both of my iPhones to iOS 6 and not being able to use iMessage with one of the phones.
    Some background:
-I have two iPhones, one on AT&T in the U.S., and one on NTT DoCoMo in Japan, both with separate phone numbers, using the same Apple ID.
-The AT&T iPhone is a 4, the NTT is an unlocked 4S.
On my 4 (AT&T), on iMessage, I have the option to send/receive as my U.S. phone number and my Apple ID. Works just like before updating.
On my 4S (NTT), on iMessage, before I updated, I was able to send/receive using my Japanese number and Apple ID. After updating, I have the option to send/receive using my U.S. number and Apple ID. My Japanese number is greyed out and I cannot select it. When I turn on iMessage, it says "Waiting for activation..." and does not do anything. Turning iMessage off and on, some times I get an error message staying that activation cannot be completed.
I have rebooted the phone multiple times, turned on/off iMessage and FaceTime, turned the Set Date & Time Automatically option on/off, and reset Network settings several times. Nothing works; iMessage will not activate on my NTT 4S. Please help!

Finally resolved this issue after months of off and on troubleshooting.
I have no idea exactly which steps "fixed" the issue, but here's what I did. None of the basic troubleshooting steps that are on here worked for me, and this is including restoring both phones in iTunes as a "last resort" step that two Apple technical service representatives suggested.
I found a post on here from user "tungddao" who suggested:
"Turn on iMessage then make a phone call to : 011+445773142076
                 With Facetime & Siri: 011+447786205094"
I called both numbers with my NTT 4S, and both numbers hung up right away. I also texted both numbers, and the FaceTime one went through, while the iMessage number did not. I then checked my SMS blocking settings with NTT. There were no blocks, but I reset the settings to "unblock all" anyway.
I was able to activate iMessage and FaceTime with my Apple ID and my NTT phone number. Halfway there.
I then turned on my ATT 4, and while I could send/receive using my Apple ID and NTT phone number, the ATT number was greyed out, which was the opposite of what had happened before, when I could use the ATT number, but not the NTT one. On my NTT 4S, I could select my ATT number, but it was stuck on "verifying" for days, and I knew it wouldn't go through.
So, I signed out of my Apple ID on iMessage and FaceTime on my ATT 4, and turned both services off. I turned on data roaming, and turned off WiFi. *This step was key to activating both services, as they would not activate over WiFi for some reason.
I turned on iMessage and FaceTime without signing in to my Apple ID just yet. They both activated successfully, and then I signed into my Apple ID on both services, and from then on, I can use both numbers and my Apple ID on both phones! Finally!
    These are my current options:
    Phone 1 (4S on NTT): Phone 1's #, Phone 2's #, Apple ID
Phone 2 (4 on ATT, roaming here in Japan on Softbank): Phone 2's #, Phone 1's #, Apple ID
Hope this helps someone out there, as this issue was real frustrating for me.

  • IMessage trouble on every device

I'm having trouble with iMessage on both iPad, iPhone4, iPhone3Gs and MacBook. I used it until few days ago; it stop working. Red bubble on every devices.

Thank you allan but I have just made some search and followed this and other varoious issue ... no way.
I think the problem is related to my iCloud account because iMessage does not work in all my Apple devices (4 devices, MacBook, iPhome4, iPhone3Gs and iPad2).

  • Multiple Devices, One Apple ID, iMessage Chaos

    Hi all,
Wanted to bring up a new "feature" of iOS 6 - probably already has been discussed here a few times, but this is a real pain and something that I think Apple has backwards.
My wife, daughter and I each have an iPhone 4, and son has an iPod Touch.  All of us have upgraded to iOS 6, and we all share one Apple ID.
Everyone is able to turn iMessage on without any issue, but - every OTHER device is given the option of accepting messages sent to the newly activated device.  They can either accept or deny the ability to do so, but then going into the iMessage settings they can reactivate this "feature."
Shouldn't the setup be that when activating iMessage from a device, it gives THAT device and only that device the option of whether the other devices have the ability to send / receive messages?
We were all wondering why on earth we were all receiving iMessages from friends of my wife, friends of my daughter, people I work with, etc.  It's a huge hassle - so much so that we have all turned iMessage off.
Big disappointment in this implementation - the option to share should be owned by the device that is turned on, not the other devices that are already on the account.
    Thanks,
    Scott

OK, I think I'm getting it.
Example:  dad, mom, son.   (we need 4 AppleID accounts)
    Dad's iPhone:
    iTunes AppleID = family@ me.com
    iMessage AppleID = dad@ me.com
    Dad's iPad
    iTunes AppleID = family@ me.com
    iMessage AppleID = dad@ me.com
    Mom's iPhone
    iTunes AppleID = family@ me.com
    iMessage AppleID = mom@ me.com
    Son's iPod
    iTunes AppleID = family@ me.com
    iMessage AppleID = son@ me.com
Family Computer -- each person has their own User Login.  So just like individual devices, we use the shared (family@ me.com) for AppleID on iTunes, but use our personal (dad@ me.com) appleID for Messages.
When Mom finally buy's an iPad and powers it up for the first time, it prompts her for an Apple ID.
From reading literature at Apple, I believe it initially applies this single AppleID to everything on your new device.  It's up to the user to go in and change iMessage (within iMessage, sign-out of current AppleID and sign-in with a different one)
    Is this correct?

  • IPod iMessage troubles

I am having troubles with iMessage on my iPod 5.  I have iOS 8.2.  It won't let me text just one person.  I can text anyone else but this person.  I send a message, and it just shows the red exclamation point and says "Not Delivered".  I tap "Try again", and it does the same thing.  Again, this is only with one person.  (the same person)  I have turned my WiFi off and then on again, and it still does it.  I deleted the contact and then tried to text the person again, and this time it said that the person wasn't registered with iMessage.  I have always been able to text the person before.  I also tried turning iMessage off and then on again, but it still didn't work.  I seemed to have more troubles with my iPod after the last update.
Does anybody have any answers?  Please and thank you!!

I now wonder if my iMessage problem is with my Contacts instead, (or possibly my friend's device) because I tried Face Timing my friend, and that didn't work either.  I did delete and remake the contact as I said the first time.  But every time I try to start a new text to my friend again,  it still is saying that she isn't registered with iMessage.

  • IMessage troubles

Hi guys. I have a serious question.
Yesterday I was texting a friend on my iPhone. I accidentally sent the person an iMessage instead of a regular text message. I usually don't like iMessage since I use an alternative for online texting, so after a while I decided to turn off iMessage so I could go back to shooting regular text messages.
I haven't heard back from the person yet, and now I'm wondering whether or not his iPhone is replying to my texts via iMessage which is now disabled on my phone.
How does this affect me? Will I receive his iMessages as regular SMS messages now? Or will he get an error if he tries to text me while I have iMessage disabled? Or will iMessages be "lost in space" when someone tries to iMessage an iPhone with that feature disabled?

It shouldn't affect you at all. Apple will automatically detect whether the phone number has imessages available or not. However, if you have another apple device such as a Mac, iPod Touch, iPad and you have activated those devices to receive imessages using your phone number, there is a chance you are getting them in one of those devices without you knowing. Hope it helps!

  • Imessage trouble shooting

    Hi,
My imessaging was working fine until about thrusday or friday, now all of a sudden it doesn't want to activate my number at all, and when I try activate through my email address it just keeps saying "waiting for activation" and nothing happens.
    Can someone please help?

    HI Friend,
Try to unsign and sign in again.
For FaceTime and iMessage chosse to use your email address instead of your mobile number.
Go to Settings>>Message>>Send&Receive and set your email address.
If it is still not working, unsign your Apple ID and select your mobile number ("+" "country code" "mobile number").
Change your address for your currently location. If not works, change it for your native country.
Turn off Show Subject in Settings>>Message
Reset the Network Setting, which makes your phone to forget every networks and passwords that you connected your phone to.
to reset the Network Settings just go to Settings - General - Reset (at the bottom) - Reset Network Settings.
I remember when I reset the Network Settings, i turned off iMessages. I connected to my home Wi-Fi and surfed the web for a little while. Sent some regular SMS messages, and about 10min later, I turned on iMessages again and sent a text to a friend with an iPhone and it started working as iMessage! Baloons finally became blue.

  • Apple ID/iMessage won't activate

I've been trying to activate iMessage for weeks on my new iPhone 5, I even installed iOs 7.0.3 which was supposed to fix iMessage problems and it still will not activate; whether I have full bars and Wi-fi or not. I did not have my number connected to iMessage before I installed iOs 7. I have restarted my phone, my network settings, everything. Every time I try to turn it on it says "waiting for activation" and when I try to sign into Apple ID to connect my number it wait her says there was an error and to try again or to check my network connection.

    server is down

  • Apple ID + iMessaging = Pain

    Hi,
I'm proud owner of Mountain Lion since yesterday, everything's working fine so far, even the Messages.app ran, with my primary .me-mail address I could send and receive iMessages from my iPhone.
Well, as it happened today, by restoring my user library, it went corrupt, so I had to make myself a new user on the Mac. Since then, iMessaging is a pain. I am prompted - when first logging in to my user account - with the message that my Apple ID might not work correctly as it has been approved otherwise.
When running Messages.app, I get the error: "[email protected] cannot be approved, as it is in use by another Apple ID." Same applies to the .me-address. Well, happens that both addresses are not in use by another Apple ID, so I am sort of helpless here.
When I logged in after the installation yesterday, it worked.
    Today, no more.
Please help. Do I need to give alternative mail addresses? Or any other hints?
    Thx...

    Hey ok,
I though you said you did a clean install but then you said you migrated your old data back to the clean install and after that you experienced your issue.
Once you migrate your old settings back to the new computer, it's like you never did a clean install and you are working from an installation overtop the previous build.
Since you restored your user library, you potentially introduced a bug that was not there before.
A clean install is only good if you work up from 0. Migrating your user folder also will migrate any issues you would have had with just installing over top of Lion.
If you are doing a clean install there is no logical reason to migrate your user preferenes back because essentially you just did a very round about installation ontop of your old computer.
    Just my thoughts.
Try reinstalling ML from the recovery partition with your user folder as it is now, intact. ML will hopefully put the problem application in a folder for you to look over software incompatibilities.
If you did a clean install from a usb or dvd you might not have a ML recovery partition.
fallow these steps to get that back:

  • New apple id imessages wont work (pop up shows old apple id)

I've recently changed my apple Id as my email address has changed.
    Now my imessages won't work.
I have gone into settings and changed the apple ID on the phone (settings>itunes and app stores> appleid) but when the pop up comes up it still shows my old address.
Ive been into settings>messages and switched imessages on and off and thats not worked (turn on and thats when the pop up showing my old apple id pops up)
I have rebooted my phone (twice) and this hasn't fixed it.

This (found on the apple help pages where I should have looked first) solved it
    Messages
iOS 6 and later: Go to Settings > Messages, then tap Send & Receive.
If you signed out before changing your Apple ID:
iPhone, iPod touch: Tap "Use your Apple ID for iMessage" and enter your current Apple ID.
iPad: Enter your current Apple ID.
If you're still signed in with your previous Apple ID, tap your previous Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
iPhone, iPod touch: Tap "Use your Apple ID for iMessage" and enter your current Apple ID.
iPad: Enter your current Apple ID.
OS X Mountain Lion and later: Open the Messages app, select Messages > Preferences, then click the Accounts icon.
If you signed out before changing your Apple ID, click Accounts and enter your current Apple ID to sign in.
If you're still signed in with your previous Apple ID, click Accounts, then select your previous Apple ID from the list of accounts. Click Sign Out, then click Sign Out again when asked to confirm. Enter your current Apple ID to sign in.
Others will now receive new messages from your current Apple ID. Old messages aren't removed.

  • TS2755 Imessage trouble with IOS7 update.

After the ios7 update, often imessages are not delivered. There isn't any clear pattern which are delivered and which are not.  Any suggestions? My phone is an iphone 5, my network is vodafone.

This seems to be a problem for some iPhones with the iOS 7 update and some got worse in 7.0.2. Apple is apparently working to fix this and is rumored to be fixed in the next update 7.0.3/.
May have to turn off iMessage for the time being until this is fixed (for reliability).

  • Imessage trouble

(I hav an 8gb ipod touch with ios.5.0.1) i just turned off imessage in settings and turned it back on,
Now when i click imessage on my home screen it says enter apple id so i do that and click log in,
next i click the "next" button in the top right hand corner and it says "verifying email" and then it takes me back to the log in page,
So it never logs in and goes to the "create message" page
If anyone has any suggestions plz post

If the iPad is giving you other problems, you may have a defective device, but without knowing what the other issues are and if you have done anything to troubleshoot the problems, it would be impossibly to make that determination.
The device does come with a one year warranty. If you are still within the one year time frame, contact Apple. Actually the warranty doesn't even matter because you can take the iPad to an Apple Store and ask them to take a look - the warranty wouldn't even matter for a Genius Bar appointment.
You didn't say specifically if you have ever been able to send a text previously. You can look through this troubleshooting support site and see if some thing in it provides help.
