Am I being charged extra for my Apple ID which is an icloud email address. Have been notified that there has been a change.?
Apple IDs are free. Your Apple ID is also usable as your iCloud email address. You need not use it as such.

I did not do my research before changing my Apple ID from an outdated email address to a current one. I just changed and verified and though I was all set. WRONG! Now I cannot sign in to iCloud because it will not let me enter the new Apple ID. I read the 10/30/13 randers4 post to just change your Apple ID back then sign in and change it to the new email address again and then you can sign in, but I cannot change back to the prior email address Apple ID because that is no longer an active email account (or at least not mine). Any thoughts on how to get signed into iCloud when it does not allow me to type in the new Apple ID and the old Apple ID no longer exists.
I see that many people have asked, but no one has come up with a solution that I found.
Thanks for any help!This did not work for me. My old email account for iCloud still pops up on my screen every time I open my macbook. I've deleted it, reset it, every thing I can think of and it still shows up. I think six months of this is more than enough time to wait.

Apple ID has my old email address. It will not allow me to change the address and will not accept my password or ID questions. I recently upgraded to OSX Yosemite 10.10.1. I also have an Apple ID that works with iTunes and would like to keep it as my primary.
To change the iCloud ID on your devices you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted (if using iOS 7), then sign back in with your current ID.
If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, you will have to temporarily recreate it in order to delete the existing account. To do this, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password. -
How do you retrieve the iCloud email address that Apple said it reserved for you?
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > [select your iCloud account] > Account > Mail (it's under "Advanced").

Why is my apple ID as my iCloud email address just on iPhone
For some reason, only in my iphone.... my icloud email is my Apple ID.... i tried changing it under settings> Mail,Contacts,Cal> iCloud> Account> Mail but for some reason the email address is grayed out and doesn't let me change it... i tried deleteing the account from the phone and doing it all over again and still not go... When i go to iCloud on the website and on my mac the email is the @me.com email which is great... but for some reason its not on my iphone...
anyone have any suggestions??Call Apple Care for your country and ask for the Account Security Team, then request help resetting passwords, questions, whatever is needed to maintain the security of the account.

If the old ID ("email address") is your ID, and if your new ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. When I type in a letter in the "To" box, let's say 'a', a number of my contact come up with "Apple Computer Inc" as the name associated with an email address. In the past, the person's name was listed i.e Joe Smith <[email protected]>. Now it looks like this Apple Computer Inc.<[email protected]> Anyone else experienceing this?

I have recently changed jobs but kept my iPad. I have managed to change my apple ID to my new (personal) email address which is fine but I know I have previously bought stuff from the App Store so need to also be changing my billing/account details but I cannot find where/how to do this. Can someone help pleas?
If you updated your existing account then try logging out of it on the iPad by tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on the iPad.

In terms of combining accounts it's not currently possible to do so, nor to copy/transfer content from account to another. -

Can I still use my iCloud email address if I delete it from my Apple ID?
My iCloud email address is listed as an alternative email address in my Apple ID. I want to make a new Apple ID with this iCloud email address as the primary email address. I want to make sure that I can retrieve my iCloud email address once I remove it from my existing Apple ID.
I would not suggest creating a new apple id with the iCloud email address if you have already made purchases with your current apple id. The reason why is you can't merge Apple ID's so you will have to manage 2 apple id accounts with purchases on both accounts and in the end it gets very confusing and will eventually create a problem.
My suggestion is to just keep the current apple id account if you have already made purchases with it and convert that account into an iCloud account.
If you haven't made purchases with the current Apple id then don't worry about it. You should be able to use the iCloud email address as an apple id (it should be an apple id already) even if it is an alternative email address for another apple id.

How can I change an Apple ID to an iCloud email?
I set up an apple ID years ago and have used it to buy a lot of stuff. I know you can't merge apple IDs, but it occurred to me that my current problem (having to do with getting family sharing set up) could be solved if I could CHANGE my old apple ID (currently just "smithjohn") to an iCloud email. Is that possible? I can't seem to do it using the manage my apple ID page. Thanks for any help.

You can't change your ID to your iCloud email address. What you can do is to change your ID to a non-Apple email address at http://appleid.apple.com - certainly your ID needs to take the form of an email address, the old non-address IDs aren't acceptable for some facilities. -
How to disable/deactivate/delete iCloud email address
Like most people, I have a number of different e-mail accounts for a variety of different reasons (Yahoo, GMail, iCloud/@me). I'm trying to get it down to just one, where all my personal, work, etc. e-mails can go. Ideally, I would have like to have just my iCloud e-mail (mine is an [email protected] instead of an [email protected]) but since I have found it to be impossible to have an Apple ID that is not associated with an outside e-mail address (currently a GMail account), it seems like I won't get my preference, unless anyone here knows something I don't.
Here's my dilemma. How do I deactivate my iCloud email address? I realize that I could simply stop using it, but I have contacts that I'm not necessarily in consistent contact with, so if they e-mail me, and it doesn't bounce back because the account has been deleted, they'll never know, and I'll never check. Is there anyway to delete/disable/deactivate your iCloud e-mail address so that the account cannot receive e-mails? Like when you delete a GMail account and try to send an e-mail to that address afterwords, you get the mailer-daemon response.Your GMail ID is simply the login; you can just use your iClour email address. If Apple are using the GMail address as a contact you can enable forwarding from GMail to your iCloud address. You do have an @icloud.com address as well as an @me.com address. However you cannot make either of these your ID/login.
You cannot delete an iCloud account nor the primary address. If you want to abandon it you could set up forwarding from iCloud to whatever address you want to use. Go to http://www.icloud.com , go to the Mail page and click the cogwheel icon at bottom left. In the first pane which opens there is a section to forward mail.
