Apple ID - Log in

Out of the blue I got problems with my Mac Mini running on Mac OS X 10.4.8 and the Firefox browser: The font size has become miniscule but will change with a manual increase under View. Next my usual Apple ID is not recognized using my usual pass word. When I reset the password the apple ID is now my primary e-mail address which I know wasn't set by me originally.
So can anybody help me to understand what is going on?
Where should I start to set things up like I had them originally?

There is a default font size settable in the Preferences, "Content" tab.
Your Apple ID is always an email address. At least, it is for all areas except for Discussions. I assume you mean the rest of the Apple site.

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    iCloud: Find My iPhone

Under settings my phone has my apple id logged in, when I go to update on the app store it asks for a friends apple id, how do i fix this?

The app must have been purchased using your friends account.  This means that the app belongs to your friend.
You need to buy your own copy.

  • My brand new Iphone 5s keeps popping up with the Apple ID log in box, and then it dissapears before i get the chance to type my password.

Bassically i just got my new iphone 5, everything was going fine up untill the Apple ID login box started appearing and then dissapearing before i get the chance to type the password. It pops up every 10 to 20 seconds, and dissapears just as quick as it popped up. I have turned the device on and off, and I have rebooted it. I checked for 'waiting downloads' or 'paused downloads' and there are none. i can still use everything on the phone, but this log in box popping up so often is going to get extremely annoying, im already contemplating sending it back!!!

    PROBLEM SOLVED! HAHA
I did a full restore via iTunes.

  • Restore of MacBook Pro without disk, gets to the install of Mountain Lion and asks for Apple ID log in and then tells me to try again later.

i bought my MacBook Pro off a friend of mine last year, she did not restore it before selling it to me & I do not have the disk to restore it that way so I followed online directions to restore with the he power button option button method. It worked up until where it asks me to reinstall Mountain Lion OS, I select accept and agree to the terms and conditions which then asks for my Apple ID,once I enter the log in it it tells me that I am unable to download the software because it is unavailable   and to try again later so my laptop is essentially useless right now and won't let me reinstall the hardware needed. Is there a way to fix this or do I need to take it into a store for a genius bar appointment. I am really trying to avoid that.

Before buying a second-hand computer, you should have run Apple Diagnostics or the Apple Hardware Test, whichever is applicable.
The first thing to do after buying the computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. You—not the original owner—must do that. Changes made by Apple over the years have made this seemingly straightforward task very complex.
How you go about it depends on the model, and on whether you already own another Mac. If you're not sure of the model, enter the serial number on this page. Then find the model on this page to see what OS version was originally installed.
It's unsafe, and may be unlawful, to use a computer with software installed by a previous owner.
    1. If you don't own another Mac
    a. If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller—not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine is very old and has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. Preferably, install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
    b. If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for a MacBook Air. You should have received the media from the original owner, but if you didn't, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To start up from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then restart the computer and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
    c. If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should start up in Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
    d. Some 2010-2011 models shipped with OS X 10.6 and received a firmware update after 10.7 was released, enabling them to use Internet Recovery. If you have one of those models, you can't reinstall 10.6 even from the original media, and Internet Recovery will not work either without the original owner's Apple ID. In that case, contact Apple Support, or take the machine to an Apple Store or another authorized service provider to have the OS installed.
    2. If you do own another Mac
If you already own another Mac that was upgraded in the App Store to the version of OS X that you want to install, and if the new Mac is compatible with it, then you can install it. Use Recovery Disk Assistant to prepare a USB device, then start up the new Mac from it by holding down the C key at the startup chime. Alternatively, if you have a Time Machine backup of OS X 10.7.3 or later on an external hard drive (not a Time Capsule or other network device), you can start from that by holding down the option key and selecting it from the row of icons that appears. Note that if your other Mac was never upgraded in the App Store, you can't use this method.
    3. Partition and install OS X
    a. If you see a lock screen when trying to start up from installation media or in Recovery mode, then a firmware password was set by the previous owner, or the machine was remotely locked via iCloud. You'll either have to contact the owner or take the machine to an Apple Store or another service provider to be unlocked. You may be asked for proof of ownership.
    b. Launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive—not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the  Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive.
    c. An unusual problem may arise if all the following conditions apply:
OS X 10.7 or later was installed by the previous owner
The startup volume was encrypted with FileVault
You're booted in Recovery mode (that is, not from a 10.6 installation disc)
In that case, you won't be able to unlock the volume or partition the drive without the FileVault password. Ask for guidance or see this discussion.
    d. After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. If you're installing a version of OS X acquired from the App Store, you will need the Apple ID and password that you used. When the installation is done, the system will automatically restart into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
    e. Run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. To upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, get it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the original owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed—you have to repurchase them.
    4. Other issues
    a. If the original owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're irrevocably linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Mac App Store Customer Service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
    b. If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able to  authorize it immediately under your ID. In that case, you'll either have to wait up to 90 days or contact iTunes Support.
    c. When trying to create a new iCloud account, you might get a failure message: "Account limit reached." Apple imposes a lifetime limit of three iCloud account setups per device. Erasing the device does not reset the limit. You can still use an iCloud account that was created on another device, but you won't be able to create a new one. Contact iCloud Support for more information. The setup limit doesn't apply to Apple ID accounts used for other services, such as the iTunes and Mac App Stores, or iMessage. You can create as many of those accounts as you like.

  • Apple Safari Logging out of Facebook and Twitter

Any particular reason that Apple Safari is logging me out of Facebook and Twitter every so often? I have checked in common settings places and haven't found anything that should be deleting browsing history, cookies, etc. when I close the application. Yet it seems to happen too often.

Log out from Facebook. You can do this by clicking the downward facing arrow to the right of Home top right side of the Facebook window.
From your Safari menu bar top of your screen click Safari > Empty Cache
Now back to the menu bar again, click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab then click Details.
Type    facebook   in the search field  then click Remove All > Done
Quit then relaunch Safari and go to Facebook.
    You should see this:
Enter your username and password and make sure to select:  Keep me logged in then click Log In.

  • Wrong apple id logged in

Hey all, I need some help. Last week I changed my icloud email address because it was going to become inactive. My problem now is it's still logged in on my devices but I can't change it or anything because the password is no longer accepted. I've looked online for help about getting my id switched on my devices to the new one but I'm not getting any answers. Please help!

    Hi balki468,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you are seeing an old email address signed into iCloud on your iOS device but cannot do anything with it because that email address is inactive. What you will need to do in this situation is go to the Apple ID website and temporality edit your current Apple ID / email address back to that old email address. It is ok that you no longer have that account, you will not need to verify it, just edit and change your current account back to the old one temporarily. Once the account is changed back to the old email address, sign out of iCloud on the iOS device and when prompted keep your information on the device. After you sign out on the iOS device, go back to the Apple ID website and edit the old account back to the correct one. Please use the following article as a reference.
iOS 7: If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5223
    Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't help, try these steps:
Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
Go to Settings > iCloud. Complete these steps only if the Find My [Device] setting is turned on:
Scroll down and tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
Tap “Keep on My [Device]” or “Delete from My [Device].” In either case, your data remains in iCloud and will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
Enter the password for your previous Apple ID.
Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
Return to Settings > iCloud and sign in with your new Apple ID.
    I hope this helps,
    -Joe

  • Stolen ipods, Why Apple not logging them

I know Apple does not help with this problem but they should. Ipods are getting lost or stolen right and left. If Apple can track your s/n for service and they can track your music downloads why can't you go online and report the ipod stolen? They must use the ipod's s/n to track everything else so why not if it's been reported lost or stolen?
How hard would it be for them to put that into itunes so that s/n is forever logged as stolen? Maybe the punishment should be you can not download music to that ipod from itunes? I know that would cost them money but it seems like that's the right thing to do.
    Anyone else agree?

You really think these thieves are really going to BUY songs from the iTunes Store? Not unless they can hack into someone elses account. They are going to use music from stolen CDs, and as long as they do that Apple never sees the serial number of the iPod. You aren't required to have an internet connection or buy iTunes songs to use your iPod. If they make that a requirement they lose a lot of customers.
Also, when you are connected to the store it uses your Apple ID and password, not the iPod serial number.
As far as leaving it on a plane, did you check with the airline? Airlines have big boxes of cell phones, PDAs and iPods that have been left on planes and only a tiny number of people ever contact them and make an attempt to get them back. Same thing holds true for hotels and phone/PDA/iPod chargers. If you ever leave your phone charger at home, check with the front desk, they may have one you could use.
