Apple ID password reset issue

I forgot my Apple ID so requested they sent a password reset to my email address but I didn't recieve it.
The strange thing was that I got it emailed to my 2nd email address and not the one I have registered to this acc. How does it know my other email address?
The 2nd email addy is not in my account setting
Now I have just registered to this forum and it has sent confirmation to my registered address but sent the confirmation of the password reset to my unregistered email
What is happening?

Send an email to Apple - Support - Apple ID
And ask them to confirm the situation.   At the same time if you ask, they will help you set up an different rescue email.

  • HT201303 Random Apple id password resets - how to stop this?

A couple of months ago I started getting emails from Apple titled "How to reset your Apple Id password" and then more worryingly "Your Apple Id password has been reset".  This happened several times over the next few days and I know this was not done by accident from me or my family because it was happening during the night UK time.  I reported to Apple support and they were no help, in fact they deactivated my account until I told them to reactivate it again!
To me it seems like someone (or some system) is triggering the password reset online when trying to access my account.
After reporting it to Apple it stopped for a couple of months - now it started again!  Several random resets during the night and day when I know no-one could be doing this from one of my devices.
Has this happened to anyone else?  Any good ideas how to stop it?  Any way to disable email authentication on the password reset and restrict to only the personal data questions?

    Hi marky_mark_uk,
Two-step verification might be a good idea for you if you're seeing a lot of password reset issues you did not initiate:

  • Received an apple id password reset email the night ipod classic was stolen. Coincidence?

My iPod classic was stolen from my vehicle. The same evening I received an apple id password reset email. Is it possible that the thief initiated the email with just the iPod and maybe my name (as it is on the vehicle registration in my car). There is no way this person could know my email address to initiate a request.

That's the only answer, if your email address was on the iPod the thief has it, everything on the iPod is open to him/her. But it would have to include your AppleID.
    It was a coincidence.

  • Why are we not receiving the Apple ID password reset email?  It is not in a SPAM folder..

    Can anyone help?
    Please..

Did you ask to have your Apple ID password reset? If not, it's a scam. Do not click on any of the links in the message, and delete the e-mail. It's also possible that an attacker is trying to gain access to your Apple ID. It would be wise to enable two-factor verification on your Apple ID:

  • Password Reset Issue in Portal

    Hi All,
Please help me to resolve this issue.
Issue : We have resetted a password for one srm user in Portal. The User when he tried to login after the password reset initially it was asked to change the password. User changed the password. He is succesfully logged into the portal. Now the problem is when he tries to access a srm work item in worklist it is opening a new window and asking to reset the password again with the error message "No switch to HTTPS occurred, so it is not secure to send a password & This is an initial password that must be changed". It is not asking to change when he tries to login to portal and this error is promting only when he tries to open a work item. Because of this the user could not proceed to work further.
Can any please let me know if faced with the same error.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Viswes

    Hi Viswes,
There are two solutions for this issue,
    1. Create a custom application which will change PWD in all the systems once you change your Portal PWD.
    2. Change the backend PWD before accessing UWL. (Login to backend system directly, it will ask for change of PWD).
    Thanks.

  • Hpconnected password reset issues....

    Hi,
I got locked out of my hpconneced account and when I tried to reset the password with the link provided, entered by e-mail address and submitted it.  Nothing shows up at my e-mail account.  I have checked spam folder and nothing has been recieved from HP.  How does one get help from HP on this type of issue?
    Thanks,
    Neil

    Hi Neil,
Thank you for being a member of the HP Support Forums. I understand that when using the password reset feature on HP Connected that you haven’t received the email.
It can take up to 24 hours to receive the email. I would recommend trying to use the reset password feature a second time.  If you’ve already tried this (I know I would have, I’m impatient ) and you still haven’t received the email, please call HP’s Cloud Services at 1-855-785-2777 if you live in the USA/Canada region. If you live outside the USA/Canada region please click here to find the Technical Support number for your country/region.

  • Tiger 10.4.7 Password reset issues related to Safari keychain updating

Following a reset password for administrative updating my software,
The following keychain password update has not correctly been updated
    to reflect complete password resets.
I have followed the MACOSX reset procedures and the MACOSX 10.4.6 updates processes and procedures to update all concerned administrative password resets and still the keychain safari messages indicate that safari keychain has not correctly updated to the new password. Annoyance message appears not to affect performance issues of safari just sending emails outbound or chances
that provoke keychain password triggers. Can not initiate safari password compliance. It does not recongize new admin. password.

  • Self service password reset issue

    Hello Experts,
An issue about self service password is being encountered. I am setting the new password over self service password reset page, but unfortunately it is not being triggered to the target systems(SAP and AD). In the job log, instead of running the pass 'changepasswordabapuser' or 'setadspassword', IDM is running pass 'update abap user' or 'update ads user'.
But if I change password of a user via Administrator login(in change identity), the password is getting changed on all target systems. Kindly suggest!
    Version: IDM 7.2
    Thank you,

  • Password Reset Issue

    Greetings,
I have a requirement that calls for a user to be redirected to a password reset form after the administrator resets their password. I am trying to accomplish this by updating the obpasswordchangeflag attribute (which I have made editable) to “true” after changing the user’s password. I was under the impression that changing this attribute to “true” would prompt the user to reset their password the next time they logged into the system. Unfortunately, when I log in as the user in question with the newly reset password, I am allowed direct access into the system. In addition, I have tried setting the Password Change Redirect URL under the Configure Password Policy tab with no luck. We are using the Basic Over LDAP authentication scheme. The password policy is configured and enabled. The ‘Change on Reset’ box is checked within the password policy. When I use form based authentication, I am redirected to the password reset form. Has anyone had any luck with the password reset redirect using Basic Over LDAP as their authentication scheme?
Additional information, we are running OAM 7.0.4 and all patches have been applied.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
    Best Regards,
    Nick

Thanks Ram, for your reply. Chris, you are correct, making the flag editable is for the next stage of this requirement and isn't really a factor in this problem. Ram, I have checked the 'Change on Reset' box and made sure the password policy is enabled. I have also compared both authentication schemes and found no major difference. For whatever reason, I can't seem to get redirected using Basic Over LDAP. Any other suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Nick
